Did I forget to mention she's also my fake girlfriend and soon-to-be fake fiancé? And not a fake girlfriend with benefits, but the hands-off, leave-me-alone except when the cameras are rolling girlfriend.

I crave attention and notoriety. She craves stability and love. We both have our secrets...and chemistry. We have a lot of chemistry. Together we're explosive, but explosions have a way of hurting those closest to the blast. And this celebrity match made in heaven is about to detonate.

Faceoff was an amazing read, the writing flowed well, the storyline was intriguing and enjoyable and the characters were nice and sweet.

Darcy Engstrom was a foster home kid who got her heart broken on a dating show, twice, becoming american sweetheart. She got so popular she got her own reality show but now she needs a miracle to save it. Enter here Gage "Ziggy" Ziegler, hockey player, party goers, deep in debt who accepts to be Darcy's fake boyfriend to stay in the spotlight and pay his debts. Their forced cohabitation goes unexpectedly well, because even if Ziggy is a slob and Darcy a neat freak they find a deep attraction between them and a strong chemistry. Will Ziggy become a one woman man or will he go back to his old habit?

I loved Darcy and Gage so much they make me swoon and laugh and I got attached to them and hoped they got their well deserved happy ending. Ziggy and Darcy bring out the best in each other, they become more determined to not be pressured by others, never to be guilty tripped or frightened to say no anymore.
I despised Ziggy's family that keeps pressuring him to get more and more money loaned just because he got his dream job as a NHL player.

Definitely go pick this one up.

Faceoff was the fifth book in the Scoring series by Jami Davenport. The series was a spin off from her Seattle Sockeyes series.

Gage “Ziggy” Ziegler was a forward on the NHL team the Seattle Sockeyes. He was in his third year in the league and needed to clean up his image or be traded. He also had some major personal baggage that he was trying to keep private.

Darcy Engstrom was the darling of reality television. She was featured on two bachelor shows Looking for Love and was the bridesmaid twice. As a fan favorite and media darling, she was then cast in her own reality show Designs On You. But with most glass houses, things aren’t always as they seem.

For reasons of their own, Ziggy and Darcy agreed to a fake relationship for the show and the story began. They were complete opposites and created a drama filled storyline. As to the characters, I liked who they were in private. They both had so much pressure to be viewed a certain way that who they really were was a mystery. I enjoyed getting to know the real Ziggy and Darcy.

All in all, it was a quick and entertaining read. Davenport also paved the way for the next Sockeye rookie story, Andy, in Off-Season.

4.5 star Review Faceoff (Scoring #5) by Jami Davenport

Another good addition to the Scoring series. This time it is Gage Ziegler and Darcy Engstron ’s story and I was hooked in the story that Jami Davenport wove from the first chapter.

Both Gage and Darcy are at a cross road in their lives. Darcy’s home improvement show is in danger of being axed and everything is falling apart for Gage, the perpetual playboy of the Seattle Sockeyes. In a bid to save both their careers, they are teamed up in a “fake” relationship to help one another out.

What neither of them expect is that the fake relationship , soon to be fake engagement will change the course of both their lives. There is so much more to Gage than what he lets shine through. The majority of his family are leeches and only want to use him for his money (which is now almost non existent) and there were times when I really felt for him.

I really liked both Gage and Darcy and it was entertaining to watch their relationship develop. The chemistry between them sizzles and Gage ticked all the boxes for me whilst I could easily see Darcy as a friend. As always it was great to see some familiar faces make an appearance.

Faceoff is the book that made me realise that Jami Davenport's writing style is not for me anymore. Has she written a "hero" who is not a man-whore lately? Because all the male main characters seem to be constantly sleeping around. I haven't felt as disgusted as I did when reading Gage's point of view in a very long time. Darcy is just a doormat. This seems to be the norm lately.

What truly sealed the deal though was one of Gage's teammates who slept with Darcy's friend. At some point at the end of the book, Cave says that he has met the love of this life and she divorced him and I just cannot get out of my head the idea that the Cave's wife is going to be the heroine of his book and she will have probably stayed celibate this whole time.

I quite liked the idea off this story. Gage makes the choice to be Darcy's pretend boyfriend on the reality show she's on, so it's not cancelled, plus he needs the money, even though he's a professional hockey player, and he loves the attention, as he likes to point out. All. The. Time! he also uses AF and WTF to the point of annoyance. Aside from that he actually turns out to be a good guy, at least after he starts falling for Darcy for real. Darcy's a sweet girl I just wish she had more spine when it came to her producer. Her and Gage make a great couple loved the journey they took to get to their HEA.

Faceoff is book #5 in the series featuring hockey players from Seattle. When someone says "You should learn about hockey, it is a great sport!" Not sure this is what they meant, however I am so excited Seattle now has a real hockey team, even if they chose the Kracken instead of the Sockeyes for a name. This series is a fun way to kill time until the inaugural season for the Kracken kicks off. Jami Davenport creates some fun characters.

Reluctant TV Star meets Sexy Attention Seeker!!

I absolutely LOVED Ziggy and Darcy’s book and it’s probably my favourite to date! Readers got to know him in Steele Bailey and Hyacinth’s book - Icing, Scoring Series #4, and I was already all kinds of invested in his Puck Brothers / The Scoring Series book because he was quite a major secondary character. Darcy was his perfect foil and to my surprise, his guilty secret which cracked me up, and the crackling chemistry between them ensured I absolutely loved this enemies-to-lovers story. Add to this a stray cat called Dude who almost became a major secondary character, some best friends who hook up, and FACEOFF was another fantastic 5-Star addition to my long list of book loves for the Seattle Sockeyes Ice Hockey team.

That being said, each Puck Brother book stands completely alone and author Jami Davenport does the best job at introducing the characters and succinctly providing their background and lead up to their story. For me though, I’ve long time read her books and already love each and every character, re-visiting them on occasion, even Isaac “Ice” Wolfe, the team captain. So, if you love these characters, love Ice Hockey heroes in particular, I highly recommend you go back to the beginning.

You’d think after so many books, the stories would meld into one, but I’ll clearly tell you, this is not so!!!! You’ve read the blurb so you know the premise of Ziggy’s story, which although common with some sports heroes, was fresh and deep. Beneath his attention-seeking party-hard, puck-bunny-loving exterior hides a heart of gold that can’t say no to family. The past moulds the future, and he is definitely proof of that, but what I couldn’t understand was his absolute and unrelenting hatred for rookie Andrew Staples. This was totally out of character according to his team-mates, and we were all in for a surprise.

Someone else who couldn’t say no was reluctant TV star, Darcy Engstrom. She detested the attention but it was a necessary evil to her long-term goals and I loved her even though she hid her steel backbone deep within her easily pliable exterior. Her story was completely opposite to Ziggy’s, making things perfect for the enemies-to-lovers premise. Her agent’s reach into Ziggy’s hockey world was about to turn their worlds upside down.

Written in Ms Davenport’s witty and sensitive, ice-hockey-passionate prose, we see that two ‘noes’ definitely make a ‘yes’ as Gage (yes, Ziggy’s name is Gage) and Darcy eventually have each other’s backs, so that they both get to move out of their initial dire situations and onto their individual and separate goals.

Already I am hanging out for the next book!! Author Jami Davenport has given her readers a lead into Cave’s story, and I have my guess as to what it might involve so I can’t wait to be reading it!!! Meanwhile, Ziggy and Darcy’s story was another must-read at 5-Stars 🏒💙❈

I’m a huge fan of Jami Davenport and all of her Seattle Sockeyes books, but I wasn’t looking forward to Ziggy’s book based on what I knew of his character as seen in the previous books. Boy was I wrong to doubt because Jami wrote a story of two immensely relatable characters.

Gage/Ziggy is a NHL star who is the quintessential bad boy - all he cares about is hockey, sex and partying every night. He also craves fame and attention like a drug addict. Despite making millions a year he is financially broke, had his sports car repossessed, overdue bills and maxed out credit cards. The reason? He can’t say no to his family and their apparent greed.

Darcy is an accidental reality star who really wants to be an interior designer. She avoids confrontation and doesn’t stand up for herself with the producer of her reality show so she’s miserable in where her life is now and unable/unwilling to change it.

When these two characters are put together in a fake relationship to save the reality show with better ratings and improve his financial prospects will it be a disaster of epic proportions or a runaway hit?! These two have chemistry that is just waiting to ignite. When their fake relationship develops into a friendship with benefits Darcy is worried she’ll fall head over heals for the reluctant & temporarily reformed bad boy and Gage is surprised he no longer has an interest in other women or partying.

Their scripted reality is becoming more dramatic and real as time goes on and their alternating POV tell of how they are changing and growing as a result of their not so fake relationship. These characters are deeper than their public personas and as they start sharing their true inner selves I found myself connecting and adoring both characters.

This is a well written, fun and crazy romance that I really enjoyed despite my initial doubt and hesitation.

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Faceoff is the fifth book in the Scoring series and you can read this one as a complete standalone.

Darcy has become the darling of reality television, but after rising to popularity quickly, her show is on the verge of being cancelled. In order to save it, the producer ends up concocting a plan to try to help the ratings. That means creating more drama in the form of a fake boyfriend who will turn into a fake fiancé.

Gage plays for the Seattle Sockeyes and he hasn't had the best time lately after getting into trouble with a couple of his teammates and giving the team a proverbial black eye. He's got to be on his best behavior, plus he's having issues due to his family and their expectations of him. When his agent comes to him and tells him his last hope is to go along with playing Darcy's boyfriend, he isn't thrilled at all, but doesn't see another way.

When Darcy and Gage end up having to live in the same condo things get interesting. They were hoping they would only have to interact for the cameras, but now they are around one another more than ever. With all the time they spend together there is no denying the chemistry they have. Will these two end up giving into the sparks flying between them? Will things become real or will it continue to be all for the cameras?

I liked how this story unfolded as we went along. I'm intrigued by some of the other characters that were in this book and what is going to happen to them down the line. Hopefully we'll find out! This was another good addition to the series!

Gage “Ziggy” Ziegler is known as one of the bad boys on the Sockeyes team. His finances and reputation are a dumpster fire. When he is propositioned to be on a reality show, he can't say no because it feeds his ego and need for attention as well as his bank account.

All Darcy wants to do is start her own design firm, but she needs money and security to do that. Her reality show isn't doing well and when she is told they need to add drama in the way of a bad boy fake fiance, her only options are to accept the deal or quit the show

Darcy and Gage have instant chemistry, but there is more to them than being a reality tv star and a partying hockey player. The more time they spend together the closer they become. But, what happens when it's time for their fake relationship to break up in front of the camera?

Ziggy may be a party boy but his real issue is his inability to tell his family no, and they take full advantage of that fact. He is a bachelor for sure, but quickly falls under Darcy's spell without even realizing it is happening.

Darcy wears her heart on her sleeve and can't resist falling in love with Gage even though she knows their relationship is supposed to be fake. All she wants is security. She hates being on the reality show for multiple reasons, but is terrified to give up the paycheck to make her own way.

While they seem like opposites, this couple is so very sweet and good for each other. Their friendship is strong and their chemistry is full of spark and fire. Watching this fake couple fall for real was awesome. 4.5 Star!

Darcy was such a sweetheart and taken advantage of by her employer. All Darcy wanted to do was design and be appreciated for her designs. She had been on a reality dating program, but didn’t get the guy so they had her on the next show. Poor Darcy wore her heart on her sleeve. Now with the reality design show, the ratings are going down and her boss wants to bring a boyfriend in to shake things up. Gage’s manager’s daughter is Darcy’s boss. I liked Gage even though he was a real playboy, but did he have a big heart and tried to give his family everything they wanted. In giving them all the handouts, he is about broke now. Gage’s boss and Darcy’s boss decide Gage would make a great pretend boyfriend and kill two birds. Gage would benefit from being around a nice woman and get more offers to be in ads, and Darcy would benefit by the ratings going up on her show with Gage in it. I loved how Gage wouldn’t let Darcy’s boss push him around as she was awful to Darcy. Darcy and Gage had great chemistry together and I so enjoyed watching the two get to know each other. Gage’s family is something else. There are things going on in the background of Gage’s family that Gage tries to handle. I always love catching up with characters from past books. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Gage is the party boy and playboy of the Seattle Sockeyes with a reputation that has left him in hot water with the team and financially broke. Desperate times has Gage agreeing to be the pretend boyfriend to the sweetheart of reality television, Darcy. With her luster fading and her show on the chopping block, Darcy agrees to Gage being her pretend boyfriend to increase ratings for her show. Darcy hates reality tv and really wants to open her own design studio but her confidence has taken a hit from the producer of her show. Darcy craves stability and love while Gage craves attention and notoriety. Can a neat freak and slob live together while pretending to be a couple? Will their fake relationship with benefits lead to a real relationship? Will Gage go back to his partying ways, or will he become a one woman man for real? Will Gage and Darcy confess their feelings for each other? Will Gage's grand jester convince Darcy of his true feelings? I loved Faceoff by Jami Davenport! Faceoff is fantastic story with amazing characters who have great chemistry. I love seeing characters from other Seattle Sockeye books interacting with Darcy and Gage. Jami Davenport is a must read author for this reader. I would highly recommend getting Faceoff and any of the other books in The Scoring Series or the Seattle Sockeyes series by Jami Davenport. I have been waiting for Ziggy’s story and it did not disappoint. I love a reformed bad boy with tattoos and add that he’s a hockey player? Perfect combination.

Ziggy had been feeling the pressure from his family since they had sacrificed so much when he was younger so he could make it in the NHL. To make up for the stress, he would party with alcohol and an endless line of women. Until the day his agent gets him a spot on a reality show to be the boyfriend of the host, Darcy. Darcy’s show was in need of some drama and spice so adding the Sockeye’s resident bad boy was the mix they needed.

What I loved about this is how their relationship evolved. It was apparent from the beginning that these two had chemistry. But once they gave into it, it was red hot and oh so spicy. I loved Darcy’s background on how she survived the foster care system to put herself through school. That made her so relatable for me. And Ziggy? He’s definitely my favorite Sockeye.

This story had heart and of course lots of humor from the Puck Brothers. Each story is a stand-alone but gets better with each new couple.

Faceoff is book five in the Scoring Series but Darcy Engstron and Gage Ziegler’s story can certainly be read and loved as a stand-alone.
Darcy and Gage are thrown together in a bit to save both their careers, she is a reluctant TV reality star trying to up her ratings and he is the bad boy of hockey needing to improve his reputation. But there is more issues for the bad boy of the Sockeyes then he is letting on because his family are pulling him in all directions including bleeding him dry so a fake relationship seems like just the escape he needs but what happens when both Darcy and Gage realise it’s not fake anymore, could meeting one another be the best thing that’s happened to them both.
This book has all the feels, i swooned, I smiled and I sighed, it may start off as fake relationship but there is no doubting the sizzling chemistry and attraction this couple feel for each other, add in Gage’s big heart, Darcy’s strength and the interaction of his teammates and their partners and you get a wonderful addition to this great series. I think this is my favourite couple so far in this series.

Faceoff with this fun read!

Faceoff is book 5 from Jami Davenport’s Seattle Sockeyes Scoring series and it is an absolute fun read - my favourite in the series. In previous books, Gage ‘Ziggy’ Ziegler was a bit of a mystery that led readers to perhaps get a glimpse that not everything was as great as his fun-loving ways may have led people to believe. When reality star Darcy Engstrom, enters the picture things are not what they seem for either of them and they take us along for the ride as they find themselves and their way to each other. With some twists and turns along the way.

I really liked that the main characters were real and heartfelt, experiencing real issues and insecurities, that even the perceived spotlight in their lives cannot easily take away. Their banter and chemistry went from a simmer to boil. I also loved how some of the other Sockeye characters (as well as Gage’s family members) are interwoven into the storyline, just making you want to read to see what would happen next and what chaos would ensure. This was an enjoyable book, as part of a fun and fantastic series by this author. Can’t wait for the next installment!

I’ve always called them “lack of reality shows” and I believe Gage and Darcy would completely agree. Darcy is the host of a floundering reality design show and Gage is a pro hockey player with a floundering reputation and possibly career. Can pairing them in a fake relationship cause enough drama with their work, teammates, and family to save them or blow everything up?

Jami’s writing is easy to read and attention getting. I thought I had some events figured out, but was usually sent in another direction keeping me reading through the next chapter until I had it read in less than two days. You do not need to read the previous books in the Seattle Sockeyes series to enjoy Faceoff, but I highly suggest you pick them up at some point. It’s an awesome series. I tried to figure out who the next book would be about and am super excited for the next book to be released.

4.5 stars!

I have been waiting for Ziggy's story like so many others. The reformed bad boy? No way, he loves his women, his booze and hockey that is all. No one is going to slow him down. When his agent tells him this bad boy rep needs to change or he could face being not signed he isn't sure what to do. Then he is given a proposal. Go on a reality tv show and pretend to be the boyfriend of one of America's sweethearts.

Darcy, heartbroken on national TV twice. America just wants her to find happiness.. So she agrees to do a show and for Gage to be her boyfriend. But as the pretending Gage is doing is strong, her feelings are getting stronger. She knows this is all ending soon but she can't help that her heart is all in.

When things come to an end, will Gage walk away like he always planned or did Darcy really tame the bad boy?

Now for Cave's story, I hope

Finally, we get Gage’s story! In previous books, there have been hints that all was not well in his life around the issue of money and it’s all in the open in this book. His family has bled him dry and what they didn’t take, he spent. now he has no money and pardon the pun, he’s skating on thin ice with the Sockeyes. Meanwhile, Darcy Engstrom is discovering that there is not a lot of reality in reality TV. After getting the short straw on a Bachelor type show, she got her own design show. But, she has no control over the designs and she is being forced into a pretend relationship to boost ratings. Enter a financially strapped bad boy hockey pro who’s hotter than blazes.
I loved the premise of this book. Sadly, many young pro athletes do find themselves in over their heads if they don’t get good advice. Also true, reality TV is mostly scripted and seems to be aimed at the lowest common denominator for ratings. In the midst of all this truth telling is a sweet love story between two people who need someone to stand up for them and to be there no matter what! And when they finally do see the light....the pages are burning hot! There’s enough hockey for the fans, spice for the romance crowd, people to be the villain, and hints of future stories we have all wanted to read.

Darcy Engstron is a reluctant reality star and Gage Ziegler is a hockey bad boy, both need the other to save the others careers but what they never expected that a fake relationship can turn into a real one.
Darcy has had an hard upbringing and is looking for a life of stability and a lifelong dream of being an home designer. Gage (Ziggy) is the bad boy of the Sockeyes but he also is a pushover when it comes to his family and that leaves him in a bind and the only thing that can help him is a fake relationship to repair his reputation.
Gage & Darcy never realized what could happen once they got together but watching them come to the realization that they are actually good for the other is fun to watch and cheering them on to stay together and find that HEA is amazing.

Darcy has been a reality star until the ratings started dropping and her show is about to be cut. Her producer thinks she should go another way and with her producer's daddy being a sports agent she gets her way.
Meet Gage who's on the Seattle Sockeyes professional hockey team. He's a party boy/playboy who needs to clean up his reputation or he's gonna get kicked off the team. He agrees to go on her show and be her boyfriend and soon to be fake fiance. He loves attention so what could go wrong.
She likes stability and craves love. They have a lot of chemistry, and are good together but will it last or is it all for show.

A very enjoyable read. Two people with lives they want to repair got to help each other. Gage was so gruff on the outside, yet a soft teddy bear on the inside (though he wouldn't admit). He could be protective and gallant, and then act the jerk. The chemistry between Gage and Darcy was instant and strong, but they also built a friendship. Darcy did not stand up for herself in her fear. Gage was able to help bring that forward so that she actually could take control of her own life. This was a good story, and I recommend it.

I received a copy of this story through Elle Wood Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Enjoyed reading this story. Gage and Darcy are thrown together in a reality TV show, it’s an attempt to try and mend Gage’s bad boy rep. Gage has problems that he’s not shared, namely his family who appear to think that he has a bottomless money pit, in reality he’s struggling to keep his head above water. I liked the way that Gage and Darcy’s relationship turned from a false one to one that had meaning, but not before some heartache. I also liked how the story also involved and included his teammates and various wags. A well written and entertaining book.

I received an ARC and this is my review.

Well, this series just gets better with each addition. These self-proclaimed bachelors are dropping like flies! When the party boy extraordinaire falls for the girl next door, things change in his life for the better. The money is gone, the loans to the family have stopped and he is just about at rock bottom. When the fake engagement to the girls of his TV dreams happens, his game improves, money gets better, and he falls in love.

Such a great story of fighting it and falling anyway. A one sitter for sure!

Face off
She’s a reality tv star. Twice a contestant on the “reality” show Looking for Love. First time the runner up while the guy chose the mean girl! Second time she gave her heart to the bachelor and was betrayed again! Now as “America’s sweetheart”, she has her own show Designs on You. But it’s not doing well so Darcy finds herself in a fake relationship with one of hockey’s biggest playboys, Gage Ziegler of the Seattle Sockeyes NHL team.
Gage has his own problems with a family who thinks he’s a bottomless bank for them. Plus his embarrassing shenanigans are starting to be watched and frowned upon by management. So, what’s a guy to do? Agree to be on the show and in a fake relationship with Darcy. Besides he loves the limelight so easy peasy, right? Or maybe not!

Sports romance, fake dating, enemies to lovers with lots of heat! He has to clean up his rep, and she has to save her job. So they make a deal! The perfect amount of sports and spice. Not too much or too little either way!

This is not the first book in the series. But it can be read as a complete stand alone. You will just know more about the other couples, and will have met the main man earlier. However once you do read this book you will want to have read the other books in the series!

I really liked and enjoyed this story of Gage or Ziggy and Darcy. Both characters were going through a hard point in their life and decided to team together and start a fake relationship in hopes of saving both their careers and lives. I liked both these characters and the connection that they had. The story was steamy had a very interesting and intriguing story line that kept me interested and wanting to see what would happen until the very end. This story was the first book by Jami Davenport that I have read and now I will definitely be checking out her others, especially in the 'Scoring' series. The book was sweet, steamy, and made me laugh as well. Definitely a recommendation. I received a review copy of this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

Closer to a 4. I guess it lacked chemistry between the two main characters. It felt as story was rushed to conclusion without any time spent growing. I don't think much growth in Darcy as she was walked all over by Sondra for most of book. I didn't like that she knew she fell in love with each guy. It made this experience seem like that too.

Still, overall, a cute read.

4.5 Faceoff Stars🌟

As we know from the previous book of Cin and Steele, Gage is in trouble and as suspected it’s financial. But his Agent has a plan and we finally learn the depths of what’s been happening when his Agent pairs him up with a reality TV star, Darcy - the girl next door🤩

But Darcy and Gage/Ziggy as his teammates know him, don’t account for one thing - falling in love❣️A really good story, which I enjoyed and a few laughs were had concerning “Alfred”😂😂 That said the bomb Cave dropped has me super intrigued to find out what his story is😳 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Face off was a quick read for me. It was good story that flowed well. I was excited to read Gage’s story after getting glimpses of him in previous books. Jami Davenport did not disappoint.
