The Queen Protocol

Rate this book
They thought they were finally safe…

How did they end up on Nathasia, a planet of horrors? Haunted by the souls of billions murdered in war, its seas poisoned by toxins explicitly engineered to kill, infested with Thraxon breeding pits, and quarantined by the Marck fleet. Kerriah and her companions awaken with holes in their memories, and the young Tolagon is missing. However, there is a twist of fortune. The yellow orb, lost for decades and protected by the terrors of this world, is finally within their grasp.

Now, the calculating Marck Queen, hidden away in an impenetrable fortress, unfolds her diabolical plot. Her order is clear: destroy all life within the Oro system.

Crushing pressure, frozen death, and the sacrifice of heroes is the only path to defeat her. As she breaks from her protocol, the queen's protocol, the system falls into darkness. With the return of the Thraxons, bitter alliances have formed, and fate has opened its dark eyes.

I received a gifted copy of this book to listen to in exchange for an honest review via the author.

*** AUDIO BOOK VERSION ***
The Queen Protocol is the second book in the Tolagon sci-fi series.
Firstly, I just want to say look at this cover! How amazing is that art!!
The Queen Protocol takes off from the end of the first Tolagon book and was just as fast paced, action packed and adventurous as the first book too.
We meet the main characters from book one zgain along with some new interesting and diverse characters too.
I loved the direction this book has gone in and really enjoyed learning a little more about the main characters going forward, which I'd one thing I'd hoped for in this second book.
If you love sci-fi and space operas, you really need to check out this series!

This book was sent to me by the author and his wife so I could continue my Tolagon journey.

I mean, just look at this cover art…I’m so stoked it’s in my collection.

This book definitely has a lot of the things I wanted from the first book in it. The pace is fast, the characters have better growth, the Tolagon-orb power is explained and shown more. We get new enemies, further explanations of the old ones, and new crisis. This book went to places I didn’t expect and I have no idea where it could go next! I definitely preferred reading than listening, so I’ll double down on saying read these, physical or ebook! Definitely a blast, and I’ll be on the lookout for more!

Check out the author/series pages for links and get yourself a copy stat, or amazon if you have prime!

Sci fi isn’t the genre that I typically read but was provided a free audible copy in exchange for an honest review.

Book 2 in the Tolagon series is The Queen Protocol and picked up right where it left off with more action sequences. Got a little more background in some of the main characters. Some of the book dragged a bit but I enjoyed it. The ending hit me in the feels. If you enjoy the sci fi genre, give it a read

I was gifted this book by the author, but the review is my own honest opinion.

We continue right where we left off in book one with this second book, The Queen Protocol. I said book one was action packed, but this one was even more so - if that's at all possible. This book also gut punches you with non-stop dread and grim situations. That may not be for everyone, but I live for that gritty 'this is hopeless' feeling. Leaves me biting my nails, at the edge of my seat, wondering just how the heroes are going to get through this. Do they? I guess I'll have to find out with the third book of this trilogy!

You get fed more worldbuilding and lore with this second one, answering questions that you might or might not have in the first while also giving you even more questions that we will hopefully find out in the third. I absolutely love this world that Benson built and the characters within it, even the side characters, have a lot of thought put into them. Most of them don't feel one-note to me.

I'll hold off my final thoughts about the series as a whole after I've read the third book, but so far I'm enjoying myself!

Hello everyone! I’d like to thank Mr. Benson for providing me with an audiobook copy of Tolagon: The Queen Protocol, in exchange for an honest review.

Author: Gregory Benson
Narrator: Gabriel Michael
Length: 9 Hours, 46 minutes
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jumping right where we left off in book one, Ghost Protocol starts with a bang and maintains this pacing throughout. All of the world building and set up in the first novel comes into fruition here, and allows the character development and action to take centre stage. Crix, Kerriah and Krath are as enjoyable to follow as they were in the first novel, and our host of side characters are memorable and enhance the narrative. Zearic remains an intimidating and interesting villain, who keeps our heroes on their toes, while also providing tense moments as a reader/listener. I often had no idea how Crix and his co would escape from their situations, and this kept me engaged and listening. The stakes are higher in this one, with sacrifices being made, allies being lost, and some extremely close calls.

Seeing more of Crix exploring the orb and it’s powers, was fun and once again reminded me of the Green Lanterns! We also get see the other power orbs come in to play, and find out what unique tricks and abilities they provide. The battles featuring the orb(s) were exhilarating and would look so cool in a movie or animated adaptation.

As with the first novel, Gabriel Michael provides unique characterizations for our heroes, and kept me engrossed in the events being played out.

If you’re a fan of sci fi or the cosmic side of the DC/Marvel universes, then Tolagon is right up your alley.

Very excited that book two came out so that I could continue the journey with one of my favorite stories! The book picks up where they left off and jumps right into the story. Love that we learn more about the main characters in this book. I will say I wish Krath had more of a role in this book because he’s my favorite! This book like the last one was packed with action and never had a dull moment. If you are looking for a new sci-fi series then you have to read The Tolagon series!! You won’t be disappointed.

I was hoping this series would get better with book 2 but it didnt. I guess this just wasnt my thing. The writing isnt bad but the style seems too forced and not comfortable or flowing. This second book was also just a constant barrage of bad news with very small amounts of good and it got frustrating. I also was not a fan of all the action happening in the last 3 chapters and then just bam an abrupt ending.
