Na Marsu, pod skleněnou kupolí, žije kolonie lidí. Sedmnáctiletá Eva Knightová je dcerou prezidentky, která město vede, a díky svému postavení by měla mít vše, na co si jen vzpomene. Moje první přečtená kniha letos snad poprvé není na 5/5*, ale doporučit ji můžu i tak.Je to ne úplně propracované, ale zato hodně čtivé sci-fi. Hlavní hrdinka je trošku naivka, autorka jí ovšem dává prostor se rozvíjet. A pár pěkných citátů se tu taky najde.

Kniha mě fakt zklamala. Nápad knihy byl dobrý, ale jako by nebyla dokončená. Cítila jsem, jako kdybych četla nejakou ff na Wattpadu. Často věty nedávaly vůbec smysl a vetsina postav se chovala jako děti.

Kolonie je vesmírná scifi dystopie (což je moje kombinace snů, o které jsem doteď nevěděla, že ji mám) z Marsu, kde v roce 2217 existuje kolonie celá pod skleněnou kupolí zvaná Éós. Všichni tam berou pilule na potlačení emocí a jakýsi zákon jim tam třeba říká, že si dva Marťané při každém pozdravu musí složit navzájem kompliment, takže se všichni imrvére strašně přetvařujou a nikdo s tím - a obecně s ničím - zdá se nemá problém, dokud hlavní hrdinka Eva, dcera prezidentky (čti diktátorky) kolonie, nepřijde o bráchu a její matka nezruší veškerou spolupráci s Matičkou Zemí... přičemž jejím jediným snem je Zemi navštívit. Zemi, kde jsou oceány, můžete si zapálit oheň, poslouchat hudbu, která vyvolá skutečné emoce, a nadýchat se čerstvého kyslíku, který není konstantně přefiltrováván. A pak potká někoho, kdo jí tvrdí, že jí to umožní.
Hlavní hrdinka Eva mi totálně sedla. Jsme totiž v hromadě věcí úplně stejné. Obě máme obsedantní a kompulzivní sklony a různé takové “rituály”, které prostě musíme dodržovat, přestože si jsme vědomy jejich zbytečnosti. Obě všechno nadbytečně analyzujeme, nad vším moc přemýšlíme a obě zažíváme takové menší úzkostné krize. Jako kdybych četla o sobě. Hned jsem si díky ní přišla líp, že nejsem tak divná sama.
Jako narovinu, není to nic dystopicky převratného. Pokud máte po krk šablony holka-kluk-odboj proti režimu, tak z tohohle u vytržení nebudete. Tady se akorát jedná o režim na Marsu, což mě osobně tenhle scifi prvek hodně bavil, když teda pomineme fakt, že dystopie jsou můj nej žánr, takže mě bavila i ta šablona. Kromě toho ale kniha otvírá jiná zajímavá témata a donutila mě se zamyslet. Fakt jsem nečekala, že se v dystopii z Marsu budou řešit tak aktuální a důležité věci. Eva si na jednu stranu Zemi strašně idealizuje, díky čemuž jsem vnímala, jaké štěstí máme, nebo že bereme věci jako stromy, hudbu nebo západ Slunce za samozřejmost, na druhou stranu tam jsou pasáže, ve které obyvatelé Marsu Zemi odsuzují a vy zjistíte, že fakt mají proč. Všechny ty věci jsou fakt reálně přesné a je zajímavé číst o pohledu na Zemi z obou stran.
Musím ale vytknout obálku, která je hezká pouze zezadu - obávám se, že ta potenciální čtenáře odradí - a minus je vlastně i délka a absence pokračování. Tady bych vážně brala aspoň 100 stran navíc, spousta věcí mohla být vysvětlena podrobněji (hlavně poslední třetina knihy), nebylo by tam tolik insta momentů a taky mohla být prodloužená romantická linka.
Moc jsem od Kolonie nečekala, o to příjemnější je výsledek, jak to tak bývá 😁 Myšlenky týhle knihy jsou za 5/5 a celý svět mě taky bavil, akorát škoda, že to nebylo rozepsanější. A nejlepší překvapení byla samotná Eva. Velmi, velmi osvěžující číst v YA o někom, kdo má tady ty obsedantně-kompulzivní sklony jako já. A ještě v dystopii!

They take these pills to suppress their emotions and they have this law, or whatever it is, that tells them two Martians must compliment each other every time they greet so they are all extremely dissimulating and no one seems to have a problem with that. Or with anything whatsoever. At least until the main character Eva, the daughter of the colony's president, loses her brother and her mother cancels all cooperation with Mother Earth... while her only dream is to visit Earth. Earth where the oceans are, where you can light a fire, listen to music that evokes real emotions, and inhale fresh oxygen that is not constantly filtered. And then she meets someone who tells her that he knows how to get there.
Eva was my favorite because we are very similar in many, many aspects. We both have obsessive and compulsive inclinations. We both have these "rituals" which we simply have to observe, even though we are aware of their futility. Eva is overthinking and over-analyzing everything just like me and we both experienced such anxious crisis. As if I were reading about myself. Thanks to her I immediately felt better and not so weird.
Let’s be clear, this is not any revolutionary dystopia. If you are not a fan of dystopia’s templates such as girl-boy-rebellion against the government, you won’t be thrilled. But I am a fan and I really enjoyed the sci-fi element that it takes place on Mars. In addition, the book opens up other interesting topics. I really didn't expect such important and actual things to be addressed in this book. On the one hand, Eva idealizes the Earth, which made me realize how lucky we are and that we take things like trees, music or sunset for granted. On the other hand, there are parts in which the inhabitants of Mars condemn the Earth and you will find out that they have logical reasons to do so. Both of those things are really accurate and it is interesting to read about the view of the Earth from both sides.
I have to say that the cover is not very attractive to me, because I'm not a fan of people on the covers in general. I really like the back of the cover though! But the worst thing is actually the length and the absence of sequel. I would REALLY take at least extra 100 pages here. A lot of things could be explained in more detail (especially the last third of the book) so there wouldn't be so many insta-moments and the romantic line also could be extended.
The ideas, thoughts and quotes in this book are for 5/5. The scifi story itself was not so brilliant, but I didn't really mind, because the book opened other interesting topics and forced me to think. And Eva was the best surprise. Very, very refreshing to read in YA about someone who has an obsessive-compulsive tendencies like me. And what’s more: in dystopia! Thank you for writing this, Sam. 🚀🧡

I read this book within one day because it was one of those you just cannot put down untill you find out how it ends. I was immediatelly intreagued by the world building and there was no preamble to the action, so I was compltely swept away from the very beginning. I also found myself in the main character a lot, which is why the story felt extremely personal to me. Eva struggled with OCD and depression, and I thought that the author handled these issues really well. It felt both truthful and reassuring. This book deals with so many important topics. For example, how a person deals with the realization that what they believed in their whole life is essentially wrong. I love that even though this book was super fast-paced, there was still a lot of opportunities to meditate on important things in life. I definitely did a lot of thinking myself alongside the main character.
The story itself is very thought provoking, and combined with the powerful writing, it made my emotions run awry. We get to witness the transformation of Eva from someone who is unquestioningly obedient into a conscious person truthful to her own belief and morale. I found reading her story greatly empowering and inspiring. I also enjoyed the romantic aspect of this book. It wasn't predominant to the story as a whole, but I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of it. It was incredibly sweet and it made me feel all the feels. In fact, I was rooting for our main character and her love interest so much that my one and only complaint about this book would be that I wished to spend more time with them. I was over all very satisfied with the ending. I thought the conclusion to the story was done beautifully. I just wanted at least one more conversation between the two. It would've made me so happy. Now I have no choice but to hope that the author will grace us with a companion novel. Either way, I will read anything from Sam Marsden. Her debut novel was absolutely wonderful and so extremely touching that I definitely won't miss any book by her in the future...

Kniha byla skvělá. Asi snad ani nemám co víc dodat, protože mi sedlo snad úplně všechno od hlavní zápletky, přes hlavní hrdinku až po zbytek postav, z počátku možná nebyli úplně sympatické, ale po odvyprávění jejich příběhu jsem si je zamilovala. Nemohu zapomenout na nespočet, krásných citátů a myšlenek, takže knihu mohu jedině doporučit.

Veľká škoda tejto knihy. Milujem post-apokalyptické sci-fi a obsah ma zaujal hneď. Autorka mala veľmi dobrý nápad, ktorý mal veľký potenciál...bohužiaľ, spracovanie námetu a štýl písania to podľa mňa zabili. Celá kniha bola písaná ako z rýchlika, čo niekomu možno vyhovuje, ale mne osobne to vadí. Všetko sa tam dialo veľmi rýchlo, vývoj hlavnej postavy by si záslúžil viac rozviesť a na konci si autorka hádzala jednu udalosť za druhou tak ako jej to vyhovovalo, len aby kniha mala taký koniec ako mala v pláne.
Vraj sú na knihu predané filmové práva..tak film by som si určite pozrela.
Och, takmer som zabudla. Nenávidím insta-love.

Nevidím důvod dávat nízké hodnocení, i přesto, že i já k ní mám drobné výhrady. Kniha byla napsána opravdu dobře, autorka měla dobře promyšlené, jakým směrem postavy povede. Co mi na knize vadilo, byly určité postavy. Především prezidentka Knightové, která působila šíleným dojmem, její emoce byly kolísavé a nevěřila jsem jí ani slovo, které pronesla. Její počínání bylo nepochopitelné a málo uvěřitelné. Také konec nebyl úplně podle mého gusta, přišlo mi, že ho autorka zbytečně vyhrotila a hodně ho uspěchala. Určitě by příběhu slušelo popsat také, jak to na Marsu vypadá, těžko jsem si ho na základě popisu dokázala představit.
Ale jinak proč ne. Nenáročné oddechové čtení pro mládež kolem patnácti let, kteří nehledají přímo nic konkrétního. Autorka psát umí, takže doufám, že příští kniha, pokud někdy nějaká vyjde, bude o něco lepší. Za mě lepší 3,5 hvězdy.

Tahle kniha je ya...je tedy velmi jednoduchá, prosťoucka. Hlavní nepřítel je matka. Šablona. A takový mix několika příběhů, které jsem četla nebo viděla. Dětem mezi 13 až 15 se kniha může líbit. Mohou být i nadšení, není to špatné, ale jsou i lepší. Na začátek ale fajn.

Knížka nesla odložit, musela jsem číst dál a chtěla jsem zjistit jak vše dopadne, určitě bych ji dala 5⭐, ale vše zkazil velmi uspěchaný konec, toho je velká škoda:(

Skvělá knížka, velmi neobvyklý příběh. Autorka dbá na rozvoj postav, obvzláště mě zasáhl příběh Brooke, pro mě první kniha, kde bylo zmíněné zneužívání.

Nezaujalo ma to. Dosť nudné to bolo, iba som to celé vlastne preletela. Ani k tomu vlastne nemám čo povedať, len mi chýbala originalita.
