I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for choosing me.

This is a beautiful collection of poems. Each one painted a vivid picture in my mind. Heartfelt, thought-provoking and inspiring.

Takes very little time to read and is most definitely worth it.

I think all of her writing is amazing and speaks to a certain audience with the finesse of words that can reach you right at your heart. Bringing you back to the experience you had of your own. She has a way of making it sound so beautiful and then making you feel like maybe it was not all a tragedy but also held some beauty. I think she is an astounding writer. I have had the privilege of exchanging messages with her, and her courage and fight are inspiring. There is so much more behind her words and when you know even the tiniest bit about her you can feel all those words pouring out of her heart and soul. I will cherish her poems forever.

Beautiful collection.

All I can say is that each poem is like a little movie clip. I love the moments she chose to showcase on this journey. Together, they paint a much bigger picture about the perilous path of recovery, self love, acceptance, and ultimately, hope. Wonderfully written with such beautiful imagery! I highly recommend.

Out of all the books that I've read in regards to PTSD, I would have to say that this is probably the best way to share the feelings that you go through and where therapy can take you. The title says it all and the cover is exactly that simple. However, when you are experiencing PTSD, nothing is that simple.

I feel like the About the Author section was placed in the most precise spot for a very specific reason. I usually don't read information about the author until after I've read a book, but since it was right there at the beginning, I went for it. I'm very glad that I did, because being an individual that deals with PTSD as well, I was able to relate to the poems. I remember the days when I would write to help myself get through a depressive episode and how much that helped me. It was nice to see that others find writing healing as well. The emotions behind each poem are not hidden, they are right there, looking you in the face as you read each word. Even though I've never been married, I have been in a couple of serious relationships and I loved how those poems said exactly what I've never had the courage to say to my x or even just express myself. I found each poem to be more powerful than the last. What I liked the most was how the book was written in a way that showed the ups and downs of therapy. The book is written so that you can see the reality of life with PTSD and the journey through therapy. I really don't feel like I can say more about She Planted Her Own Flowers without sharing about each poem itself.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and was motivated in a way to share my own journey that I've been on. Thank you for sharing with me!

It took me reporting that I hadn't received my original copy from when I won a giveaway for this book several months ago to finally getting a copy mailed to me. Now that I have finally received my copy and I have read it, I am in love with it. The poems are beautifully written and are so full of life, love and loss. I have found many of them to be relatable.

I received a copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the author’s poetry. I read with a pen so I could underline and write notes in the passages of what each line meant to me. Her words resonate on a deep level and can have many interpretations, so this will be one I keep on the shelf and reread.

I’m not usually into poetry but I understood at least half of these. So being a good reads win it was not a bad read.

I really enjoyed this book of poems. I felt that I could relate to quite of few of these and I wanted to share these with everyone.

In the shadows
The angel on my right
Sociopath
In the silence
The light

The next two were close to favorites but I felt that they were just a step below and I considered them relatable and very true.

Denial
Masks

For anyone that has been in a relationship with someone like described in these poems, it feels so comforting to know that you are not alone and that there are crazy guys out there who will gaslight you and make you believe that they are the victim and that YOU need them.

Admittedly I’m picky about poetry and it’s not my favorite genre. These were mostly just okay to me. There were a few that were difficult reading aloud and that bugs me probably more than it should. A couple were decent though. Just kind of a middle of the road poetry book to me.
