Court High #1-4

Court High: The Complete Series

Rate this book
A town full of secrets. A dark elite.
A girl who crossed the wrong king.

They call them the Court, an elite boys club who rule Windsor Preparatory Academy like gods among men. And, of course, they're led by Hercules himself.

Royal Prinze--yes, that's actually his name--walks around both the school and the town like he owns them. His affiliation to the prestigious Court only gives him more clout. These boys do anything they want. They take anything they want, and they f*ck anything they want... in that order.

Then there's me.

I came to Maywood Heights to live with my virtually indifferent father because my sister went AWOL. She chose to move with him after our father decided to uproot years ago and forget anything related to our late mother. I stayed with our aunt, but my sister and I had always remained close.

She'd never gone off the grid.

The new girl, I arrived at Maywood Heights to find her. The last thing I imagined when enrolling at her school was that she'd be connected to a group like the Court, and boys like Royal. She's nothing like them and so much better than Royal and his elitist attitude...

So, why then are they saying he's her best friend?

I absolutely ADORE this series!!! Here's my earlier review for book one in this complete series just to give you an idea of how epic this read is!! Each consecutive book in the series just draws you further into the story!!!

Prepare yourself for heartache. This is not a Disney story by any means. HOWEVER at the heart of our story *is* an amazing young lady with a warrior heart, determination, and many emotional scars from her numerous trials. Having lost her mother to cancer at age eight, December (or Em as her sister Paige called her) and then raised by her maternal aunt while her cold father and big sister moved across country... that was just the start of what December has gone through. Their father had never been easy to live with. The complete opposite of her free spirited mother, he was all about control and never showed emotions or outward love toward his daughter. Older sister Paige would often have enough of his regime and appear as if by magic in the middle of the night . So when Paige originally vanished into thin air everyone assumed it was just her usual self dictated time out to give herself a breather. However months later with no contact had December uprooting her own life and moving back in with the ice man himself. All in the hopes her big sister would hear she'd moved in with their dad, and would swoop in just to whisk December back to their aunties house. After all the girls weren't just sisters, they were dear friends even while growing up in different states. Which is why Paige vanishing like this with zero contract was so unusual. Little did Em know it wouldn't be the first strange thing. Starting over where nobody knows her is not easy. Especially with the insane rules at home by her father. He's dictating everything from what she's to eat (or not eat), how she'd get to/from school, to getting her a job without her input. The last thing she expected upon arriving at this uppercrust school was to learn that her out and proud sis had been BFF's with the head clique at school. Likened to a fraternity, The Court basically ran the school and that includes faculty. How do they have so much control of everyone, and why? Why was Paige so close with not just The Court, but the head man himself Royal Prinze? Her head was spinning with all this new info and the crazy new world she'd entered. Her only hope was she'd hear from Paige soon.

This book is a great introduction to this new series. I ADORED December/Em. What she's already endured in her young life makes my heart hurt, and it looks like she's got more bumps ahead. This book does a great job of introducing the main players. Be warned... It does NOT get wrapped up in a neat little bow. This is just book one and rightly so leaves us wanting more, more, more! One things for certain I'm cheering for Em every step of the way! I've a feeling the actions of her father in the end of this book were NOT by his choice. I for one think there are other forces at play that we've yet to see. I'm hoping Royal and Em end up.helping each other heal their pain, and find true friendship or more together. I'm also thinking book two will have even more bombshells. We meet the players and have a rough lay of the land, and now it's getting REALLY interesting! I pity the idiot that underestimated both Em and Royal. I think on their own they're both formidable; both having endured much. Yet together I think they can conquer absolutely ANYTHING. I can't wait to see them get justice and answers!!! I'll definitely be cheering from the sidelines 😁.

I got through all 4 of these books so fast, I absolutely loved them.
After reading court legacy series I just had to go back to the beginning and see how December and Royal got together and it did not disappoint. I actually felt so bad for them both in this series as they had so much to deal with, Em with how her sister had died and Royal with how he was abused by his dad!! I loved how much Royal loved paige in this series and was doing everything he could to figure out how she died. Em was right there too trying to find things out herself. I loved how there relationship developed but it wasn't smooth sailing for them, Royal sent her away to try keep her safe but she just kept coming back which I was glad for. The twist at the very end I wasn't expecting at all, I mean I knew he had something to do with it but I wasn't sure what!! This series made me realise why dorian from court legacy and Royal couldn't stand his dad!!
I'm so glad December and Royal got the answers they needed after everything and I'm also glad Em dad finally turned into the father he was ment to be!
Now it's time for me to dive into court university and find out what ramses, Lj, knight and jax have been up too

Conclusion to all the Maywood Height Drama

*Warning Spoilers Ahead*

This last book in the Court High series. begins with us, the readers, time slipping back, to finally finding out what happened with Paige - December’s sister the night she undertook her hazing ritual, along with Royal, J L, Knight, and Jax, in order to be the first women to become one of the ‘Court’.

This, she was willing to intake in an effort to get revenge.
Revenge on the town of Maywood Heights, and the men that rule it.
Also, the married women who had lead her on for over a year with false promises of a relationship.

It also deals with the present, and the sudden suicide of Mira, the girlfriend Royal reluctantly was forced to have.
As the story progresses, we find the Scooby Gang headed by December and Royal, discovering discrepancies surrounding Paiges death and autopsy.

“There was a murderer in the town of Maywood Heights.”, and the gang are on a mission.
While going about gathering more information surrounding who the mystery women was Paige was sleeping with. And, what this had to do with her unfortunate demise, also what part the Men of the Court had to play.

While all this is going down, we witness the bond between December, Royal and the boys strengthen.
At time, with some sickenly sweet almost baff worthy cutsie moments.

Ya know its It these parts of the story that I have the hardest time with in these books All the happy families BS.
When all the boys, and December get together for the “ We are Family” we all love you December bull….It just makes me want to tear my hair out.
Give me the drama, the intrigue, the scheming.
Not this “let’s get together, cook breakfast, watch movies show our wacky personalities C***”

One other thing!..
Okay we get it Royal hot as hell.
Do we really need to get descriptions of his body parts EVERY. DANM.TIME. December looks at him. Just to reminding us what a “ beautiful boy” he is ?…ENOUGH!

The closer these two got together, the author - Eden made sure there wasn’t anything left that these two didn’t know about each other.
And last obstacle ?
,What happened to Royals sister, and mother ? And, why did Royal blame himself.

Once December got a sniff about this incident from LJ, Jax, and Knight, (during movie night, while throwing insult and popcorn at each other) she wasn’t going to let it go until she found out all the details…
Because she was curious WHAT! She was on a mission now.

Then we got December, the physiatrist.

Eighteen years old, and solving Royals problems, and guilt over his painful past…

Ever noticed that mean, bad boys always, ALWAYS come from abusive backgrounds, and have Daddy issues.

They also have one thing, or several things in common with the main female lead character.
Thus, allowing them to bond.
We got this gem from December -

“Royal as harshly and beautifully as he deserved to be loved, with as harsh and beautiful as I knew he loved me. I’d do that, and I’d keep doing it over and over again. Lather, rise, repeat. I’d do it until it sunk in. I’d do that forever.”

Give.Me.A.Break…Ugh!

She was getting OFF. on putting poor broken Royal back together again.

*Note to the author *
We, the reads don’t always NEED all this hallmark lovey dovey BS between the two lead characters.
I guess I’m more of a realist. I wanted MORE of the crime solving.

There was a LOT of absolutely implausible moments just to fit the story also,
Case in point-
Jax manages get key code for the Royal Jewellery Store from his second cousin Benjamin
Remember him ? The cousin that he rarely spoke too, but they just so happen to have a family dinner that night BEFORE the gang are due to break into the store, just in time for Jax to swipe his phone and get the codes….

How convenient.

Then we get Knight security hacking skill…*shakes head*
Skills that December is “ astounded by”
Aren’t we all
This is where these stories loss a lot of credibility.
When you have teenage with unlimited cash, technology, and know how, at their disposal.

So many situations, so many hidden talents/ or friends that got them out of hot water.

Once we got to the climactic ending, this trend continues, with all the right people showing up just in the nick of time,to drag out two loved up lead character into the HEA we never new we wanted…
And, yes! All the usual scenarios and there…
No surprises

So by the end , I’d kinda guess most of the plot, I just needed a few blank spots filled in.
Do, I was a little bit disappointed, Because, by THAT stage I could have written the ending, it was so obvious.

Technically, since this is a collection, I only managed to get through about half of the first book. Maybe less, but either way I couldn't finish this story. This, more than anything in this genre showed the characters age in an uncomfortable light. Everyone here is 18/19 yet they read like 12 years old trying to playhouse. I didn't get a sense that any of them were adults unless they were actively being described, and even at that time, it was a struggle. December was dumb. The author tried to write her at this hard noises character. One who was confident in themselves and feeling to fight the mold presented to them, but I couldn't see it. She whined about everything. The part I stopped at was when she ran away because her dad wouldn't let her keep a puppy. The same puppy destroyed her father's guest house every time it popped on the scene. The same one she never told him she had decided to keep. But it was his fault and we should feel bad for her.
She is immature. Constantly hiding and listening in on peoples conversation and getting upset with them when they get angry with her. She stays lying and people are just supposed to feel bad for her.
I do not feel bad for her at all.
I think the one thing I like about this story is that it is meant to be dark, but isn't. Instead this js a rather fluffy story that pretends to be dark so none of the bullying hits home that way the author may have intended. So it plays out rather nicely because she has a decent-sized friend group that sticks by her. I can see them leaving over time but not for long.
At the same time I dislike it because it makes the story boring. I think I would have preferred this to be a story where the elite group actually made sense. As it all stands, this looks like a bunch of toddlers fighting over a picture book.

I was almost scared to go into this series because of how much I loved the Court Legacy series. I didn’t want to feel disappointed and I definitely did not.
Eden O’Neill has mastered the art of romance with an intrigue story behind that is just as interesting and doesn’t feel like outlandish even tho it is pretty outlandish.
There is a lot of heartbreak in these books and the way the characters reacts feel exactly how you would expect teenagers to react which I appreciate. I wish we had gotten more of Royal’s POV, especially in the beginning. His characters is pretty closed off and at times it felt I was already deep into the story and had very little information about this MC. Because of the story developing, the romance obviously doesn’t take center stage all the time and because we get everything from December’s POV, there are long stretches where we only get glimpses of Royal or comments but no real interactions.
Now because I didn’t realise the Court Legacies had previous series, I came into this one knowing a couple of spoilers which I don’t mind at all but because the parents friendships is so solid, I picked up this one excited to see where it all started. Now for the most part I have no complains except I needed more Ramses/December friend moments, they are painted as bffs specially in the kids books but here it felt a bit shallow and very one sided, which in all fairness December even acknowledges.
Secondly is just I didn’t understand the role of LJ… he kinda feels like a filler character instead of a member of the core group. Knight and Jaxen had such strong defined personalities that the few interactions we have we them show how they fit into the group and their roles in it perfectly. LJ however was giving me nothing and I felt he could have been cut out entirely.

“I’d never sleep whole again.”

This consists of 4 books in one bundle. I love it when authors bundle books!

They The Pretty Stars
This story is a single POV from December as she is searching for her sister Paige. She lived separately from Paige after their Mom’s death but now she had to visit. Here she meets Royal Prinze, leader of The Court, and in charge of the school. He was also Paige’s best friend. There are a lot of secrets in this town and Em just cares about finding her sister. It ends in a cliffhanger but lucky for you the series is complete.
There was only one intimate scene and it wasn’t very steamy. It was well written but felt boring at times.

• Illusions That May
The mystery continues as we now know what happened to Paige and start to unravel the why and how. We also got a few chapters from Royal’s POV growing up showing his abuse from Dad and friendship with Paige. Enter new character Ramses who has history with The Court and willing to take them down.
Again, only one intimate scene with Royal which wasn’t that steamy.

• Court Kept
The story is finally getting exciting now! We get three POV’s this book: December, Ramses and Royal. More answers also lead to more questions.
Only one intimate scene which was not spicy at all.

• We The Pretty Stars
I always love the last book in a series:
H and h are a team ✅
We get ALL the answers ✅
Steamiest book in series - this was really more of a slow burn and very little steam.

I saw the clues but did not expect all those twists! Loving that Em and Royal found their trust and love ❤️. So excited for the boys to get their own books! Next up Knight 🙌🏽

Edgy/really good!

Court High Series by Eden O’Neill: Edgy, good

****They The Pretty Stars #1: really good - I couldn’t put it down.
A lot of mystery and secrets in this story. A slow build, a good pace, but so many questions.. Angst, steam, and surprises. Ends on a horrifying revelation/cliffhanger.

****Illusions That May #2: really good series
The story continues with some revelations and more questions. Surprising relationships, and some help.

*****Court Kept #3: Edgy, good...
I’m totally binging on this series. Edgy with red herrings, hints of truth, overwhelming pain, and still unanswered questions. Alliances, true love, and surprises. Really good!

****We The Pretty Stars #4: really good finale
Whatever I figured would happen ended up being just the tip - because this story took a very crazy turn and ended up being so much more! A good series wrap up, with a fast pace, strong relations, and surprising revelations. The characters were relatable and well developed, the storyline overall good — but the back story has some holes/wasn’t totally believable. Nevertheless, an engrossing and entertaining series.

TITLE: Court High: The Complete Series
GENRE: Romance
AUTHOR: Eden O'Neil
TROPE: Enemies-to-Lovers, High School, Bully Romance
TYPE: Series (4-Book Bundle)
POV: Multiple POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

I am a bit on the fence about this series. While I did not hate it, I also did not love it either. I did enjoy the characters Royal, Ramses, December, and the other boys of the Court. I just wanted more angst in the series, which may have been there if each book had been longer. I know the spin-off series Court University and Court Legacy are darker, so I expect more angst from those. Still, I wanted to start with the first series to have the character background before starting on Court University. I am giving Court High: The Complete Series an overall rating of 3 / 5 Stars.

Okay, the storyline is great. However, there should definitely be a trigger warning for this book. The author was descriptive in the last book that I believe it should have a trigger warning. Also, I don’t feel the MCs truly developed a relationship to actually fall in love. Then, the FMC was made to seem like a strong individual based on her past, which I would agree with, but then she flip flops literally within a couple pages of her wants and desires it got a tad annoying. The author however had a great story. The FMC goes to look for her sister and leaves her life behind. While in a new town, she tarts to learn all the things her sister and her friends were involved in. The author hits the nail on the head at the conclusion of the story and made peace with the characters.

I came across this series through a reader challenge and immediately fell into a week long book binge reading it and the series that follows. Thereafter ANOTHER series, basically of you're looking for a series to stick with for a minute start here.

Royal and December were great, I really liked their back and fourth tbh. The series overall is a 5 star read though for me book two was a little slower, still loved it. The plot progresses gradually and the answers are a little slow to come but there's enough going on to pull you through to the end. Get to know the characters from the beginning because it makes the following books SO much more intense to read.

I read this as a complete series and it’s only getting 3 bc 2 1/2 isn’t an option.
First off this isn’t a harem of nothing so bookgram and booktok y’all liars and need to be ashamed!!!!
Side characters need so much more development or put less of them and more character development into the main characters. There’s a big ass trigger warning for the FMC which I guess is supposed to give her depth and more development once it’s aired to the school by the mean girl squad but it’s missed then of course addressed again but brushed under the rug.
I wanted so much from this and I only got it in the last book half way through which was the problem solving.

1,5 ⭐️

I put this book off so many times because of the MMC’s name. The most stupid name a character had in all of the books that I read.

The whole “court” concept… I don’t even know what to say about it and that’s saying enough.

Ngl, I was curious throughout the book to find out what happened with Paige (0,5 for added because it managed to keep me a tiny, little bit interested), but it played out to be underwhelming. I was quite disappointed in how the story unfolded.

December’s time in Arizona added absolutely nothing to the story.

To be honest I think I read to many bully romances and I am not in the correct headspace to review this book. It just to repetitive of others book I have read, although it was a great read with many twists. (I realise I am contradicting myself!)

My fav quote from the book: The school uniform rode up my ass like a son of a bitch, a literal atomic wedgie which I endured the entirety of the trip inside a chauffeured car.

Why did I wait so long to read?

This book had me in the highs and lows. I had moments of laughter and moments where I was tearing up trying not to cry. These books were beautifully written.
I'm so mad it took me this long to read. Eden knows how to get you in the feels and your emotiona running away.

Royal and December are two kindred hearts that had to find each other and their trials to the HEA is bumpy bumpy bumpy but so worth the read.
I highly recommend

court high

I never thought I would like a high school “who’d done it” but this was very well done. Honestly, I read the first book separately and didn’t like it. It seemed like too many things were going on at the same time. I found Royal and December at the time to be annoying. I highly recommend getting the complete edition over the individuals. There’s secrets, murder, intrigue. You think you know who the killer is and then new evidence emerges.

I thought this was going to be interesting.

I read the first few pages, but I couldn’t get past the unlikeable main character or father. The first few paragraphs are just complaints. The MC sounds whiney and I couldn’t read anymore. I don’t usually post bad reviews, but I really hope future MCs don’t have such a giant chip on their shoulders.

I read this series back in April and I was really invested in this story. It is a high school bully romance with mystery, and at the end of every book a needed to know more because there are many twists through the story. I was really hooked and loved the side characters a lot (stay tuned for my reviews on the spin-off series court university)

The speed of the story didn’t stay consistent to me. It would feel rushed and things would happen fast, and then it would drag on. I liked the ending though. Everything came together well and I love Ramses. Very glad he didn’t turn out to be a bad guy cause I suspected it for a WHILE. Also kind of disappointed this didn’t turn into a reverse harem. It was set up SO well for one 😂😂
