2 Companion Novellas in the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair Series
An alien prince. A spunky Earth woman. Can they find love together in the stars?
En route to meeting her alien fiancé for the first time, Julia gets lost inside the lower corridors of the alien starship. When she slams into a grease-spattered alien and he grabs her, she does what any self-respecting Earth girl would do--she stabs him. He flings her over her his shoulder, hauls her to his room, and kisses her.
No puny Earth female should dare to assault Axil, yet this one challenges him at every turn. He wants her, and he'll do whatever he can to win her. When she signals for him to kiss her, what's a hot-blooded alien to do? He captures her mouth with his own.
An Earth woman and an alien prince collide on a starship bound for the planet, Crakair. Will the seven-foot-tall, scaly alien warrior release her or claim her as his bride?
Axil is a novella in the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair Series. This standalone romance has on-the-page romance, aliens who look and act alien, a guaranteed happily ever after, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.
This book also contains Gaje, a short story in the series.
AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. She lives in New England with her husband (who is sadly not an alien, though he is still cute in his own way), her kids, and assorted pets, including a yorkie pup and three cats.
Review is for Axil only. I did really like Axil and Julia together and I wish it had been longer and not just a short story/novella. It would have been nice to had this story be the first story too. I would rate this higher, except there are quite a few typos in this: Axel vs Axil on a few occasions, etc. It definitely could have used another run through before hitting publish. 3.75 stars
The author blew me away with this story. I would have loved an epilogue. It would have been nice for her to close out the mystery to their crashing as well.
We'd met Axil and Julia and Gaje and Thea in the previous books and, well, this is how it started for them. A little case of mistaken identity (on Julia and Thea's parts) and two aliens who knew what they wanted the moment they laid eyes on the ladies.
Axil and Julia have a rollicking good time getting to know one another on Axil's personal shuttle. A unexpected event lands them on Mara (the moon with the not-so-great reputation) and soon they're battling beasties and running from slavers. (No worries, it all works out in the end and these two do the matebond thing just like you'd expect them to!)
Meanwhile, Gaje and Thea are on their own adventure involving lots of courtship and a rogue meteor. You know, I like an alien who can improvise. And Gaje hits all the high notes of courtship before they get down to the good stuff.
Did I enjoy this series? I sure did! Fun, sexy, and PLENTY of alien hunks. Nice.
Fifteen minutes before the introduction ceremony between Earth brides and the Crakairian grooms, Julia gets herself lost in the huge spaceship. Julia’s fiancé is the Crown Prince of Crakair, so she figures he’ll wait until she gets there. She and her friend, Thea, kept trying to find an elevator or something. Then there was a sound behind them, Julia pulled out her jackknife and the two of them ran. Turning a corner, she ran right into the arms of a mechanic with grease on his face and clothing. When he tried to pull her close, she stabbed him. He tossed her knife away and threw her over his shoulder. The guy he was with did the same with Thea and they ran in different directions.
Axil carried her to his quarters so he could bandage the wound in his side. But her feisty reaction to him was stirring him up. He had been with enough Earth delegations that his translator had been fully trained to understand English. Hers was new, so she couldn’t understand everything he said. He was amused at her rants at him, especially when she called him a mechanic! Axil is crown prince of Crakair and Julia is his intended match. But he was told Earth females liked to dominate conversation, so he was letting her talk. He should be getting ready for the ceremony, but he was amused listening to the things she said. And since he couldn’t understand her (she thought), she would just tell him all her secret thoughts. He moved toward her and she held her hand up telling him to stop – but that was a gesture Crakairian female used to request a kiss! So he obliged. She murmured that she should not be liking this so much, and he barely held back his chuckle.
Rationalizing that since she had not met her intended yet, it was okay to enjoy the mechanic a little. Fortunately, before they got too carried away, a knock on the door called to remind him to come to the ceremony to meet his mate. And she suddenly realized it was Crown Prince Axil giving her the best kiss of her life! And when he smiled at her and greeted his bondmate, confessing that he understood her every word, she blushed and covered her face with her hands. She growled at him for his teasing, and he smirked at her. And again, someone knocked on the door to offer to help him get ready. This was going to be a very long evening.
The story is adorable as Axil knew immediately who she was and politely let her take over the conversation. It wasn’t his fault that she assumed he couldn’t understand her and blurted out every thought that came to her. I was chuckling all the way through! I loved his playfulness and teasing nature. Grab your copy and see if they manage to get through the ceremony they are already late for!

𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: Although these are prequel novellas, Amazon has this listed at the bottom of the series (something to do with the genre listing I think Ava said?) So I did read this after reading the series. I definitely enjoyed the full novels much more and I think that's mostly due to pacing more than anything. But these are novellas so that also didn't bother me too much as opposed to if they had been full novels. That being said, on a relationship/spice aspect these are perfect if you're looking for something that jumps right in! They were sweet and simple and very quickly paced. They also have fairly full storylines as well. Not my favorite of the series but for quick novellas they were a fun read! They also had a nice amount of humor that I enjoyed the most.
I’ll keep this nice and short. I really loved Thea and Julia, Axil and Gaje. There wasn’t much drama and the stories focus was on the couple and the romance. I always loved Axil and Julia. She was so awesome in all of the books. She was a true constant and so was Thea making small appearances along side Julia. Both of their stories was short and very sweet. I loved them both very much. Both were full of humor and full of steamy sexy scenes. It really started me down the rabbit hole of this whole series that so w]far has spanned two races of men. These books have been hit and miss but the majority have been hits. So I have totally enjoyed myself and this series. If you were like me and read Axil first instead of last you will have falling in love with Julia first and known her story first. For me I read about Thea and Gaje last even though I knew how they would end up since I read books 1-6. 🤣😂. It did feel good to read her origin story. This was great, don’t pass this book up. 5 radiant stars from me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Mail order brides from Earth is not for everyone but being matched to aliens they get more than they signed up for. The women find new worlds—the men find mates entering into arrangements that they never thought they would find.
There is action, suspense and tension as these women navigate their newfound lives. Emotions run high as they confront their circumstances, dealing with the conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer, as they vie for the attention of these Earth women, leading to moments of romance and interesting encounters.
Amidst the challenges, there’s also an undercurrent of playful interactions, as the women learn to assert their own identities and desires in this strange new world. Overall, it’s a captivating blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps you engaged from beginning to end.
Absolutely loved these prequel novellas that focused on crown prince Axil and his vizier Gaje. Both are strong aliens from Crakair, a planet that has had it female population decimated by a disease, and has entered into a contract with Earth for mail order brides. The men both get strong, sassy women, and their stories progress rapidly. The chemistry for each couple is through the roof. The characters are well written and the books are quick and fun to read. Looking forward to reading more books from this series.

I loved Axil’s and Julia’s story. A disease swept through the galaxy killing most of the females on Crakair and the men on earth so Axil’s father sent a message through out the galaxy looking for brides for their Warriors and earth answered the call and that’s where Julia comes in but not everyone is happy about having human females as their mates. The second novella is about Gaje and Thea, Thea is Julia’s friend and another mail order bride but I’m not going to get into that story I will leave it up to you to find out. Fantastic novellas I loved them both and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to mature themes such as adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence including fighting and human trafficking.
I wish this had been available before I read the series, but better late than never. It is nice to know more about how the series began, including more about Thea.
I rated these two stories as 4 stars primarily because of the grammatical errors throughout, which includes missing words and even the name of the hero Alix which was listed as Alex. While the other stories have a few issues, none of them have as many as these two.
I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although there were a couple of plot items that didn't get answered by the end. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. I'm curious to see how Thea does with the alien that abducted her away from her best friend Julia. Julia was sassy, brave, and protective. Axil was cocky, smart, and fun. Julia and Axil together were hilarious and a rollercoaster ride of banter and fun. They were really perfect for each other. The way the story ended was hot, but I do wish that there was an epilogue. I recommend reading this book.
I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Axil: These stories are Hot. There is also a story in there. A male courting his female. Some of the things wind up doing are so cute. it is funny. I like is story. Gaje: The Hotness of is story is blissful. I do like the little bit of danger also. It adds a bit of spice to the story. Of course Happily Ever After is always the best part of any story. I know we will hear from this couple in later books. Good story.
I loved these two couples. While it was the last book in this series, it actually takes place prior to Vork. Out of the series, honestly these two are my favorite. The fact that Julia stabs Axil upon first meeting him was just too good! I think they really should have been released first because as the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair Series went on, I wasn't as impressed by some of the heroines and hero when I compare them to these two couples. Still, overall GREAT series and I enjoyed each one. Can't wait to see what';s next!

That's right, prequels. As in two stories in this book. You have the story of Axil, the Crown Prince of Crakair, and Gaje, his Vazier. Each has been matched with an Earth woman, both her a strong female characters. There is plenty of heat mixed with humor and action. Previously I received Axil for signing up to Ms. Ross' newsletter. I believe Gaje had also been offered. But now you can have both stories together, which is awesome as they are definitely connected. Great stories.
This is an honest review of an ARC.

This was an amazingly well-written story by a good authors, Ava Ross. This book 7 in the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair Series was interesting and it had some very well-developed scenes and story. These characters have strong wills and personalities and their interactions are believable. This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists and turns, adventure, danger, love, steam and a HEA. It is a well-paced and engaging from start to finish

2 prequel stories to the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair series. A quick, fun, sexy read. You want more of the Crakair Prince Akil and his human mate Julia. They make appearances in the other books in the series but could easily have a stand alone novel. Gaje is one of the Prince's advisers and also set up with a human mate Thea and a friend of Julia's. Although the two humans arrive on the planet together, they're quickly split up and embark on harrowing but ultimately life changing and rewarding journeys with the respective mates with laughter, miscommunications and plenty up close and personal study of human/alien sexuality.
I'm not sure why this novella was marked as book seven when it's actually the prequel to the series, but regardless these novellas were just as adorable as the rest of the series. I'm glad I got to read Julia and Axil's meeting story and it definitely have me a great preview of what this series was going to be like, hence why it would have been better to have read them first. I'm sad there isn't any more to this series but after the ending of book six it seems as if the next series is a spin-off of this one. So I'm excited to read that!
This was a fun one-sit read for me. I really enjoyed the misunderstanding that happened when Julia met Axil - and his playfulness ;) Their adventures don't stop with that first moment, tho, as they start to deal with prejudice, possible sabotage, slavers and strange 'alien' creatures. Expect a fair bit of action, humour and sizzling romance, that sparks right off the pages, to keep you glued to your reader. All great fun and I look forward to more books in this series.
Book seven in the Mail-Order Brides of Crakair series this is a two book in one story both stories are well written with great storylines, the stories flow smoothly from page to page. Both stories have suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, and romance. I know when this series is finished I will be reading them all in one sitting. Well written set of stories. This is a funny, misunderstood, misunderstanding type of romance that is great for the funnybone. When you have your mate and your trans later chip is malfunctioning he can only lead to more fun. I need a translator chip and I don’t even know any aliens. Least I don’t think I do. Great fun for insta love read.

Julie and Thea start their Earth bride exchange off on the wrong foot. They get lost on the spaceship. But as they try and find their way they run into a Crakairian. Before they can find out who it is Julie stabs him her jackknife. Turns out it is her Groom the Crown Prince Axil. So from there it is all a great sweep of a romance. They both have to find their paths and it leads to a great series with more Crakairian's and their chosen earth brides.
Lyel and Axil: Mail-Order Brides of Crakair Book 6 By Ava Ross Kindle unlimited purchase I love this series...... Great read. Each book has its own H/h but characters from other books show up as they know each other. Because of this reason I recommend reading this series in order. It seems that this should be read before the rest of the series. VORK BRYK JORG KRAL WULF LYEL and AXIL
Two lovely prequels to a series I've enjoyed reading! The stories of Axil and Gaje are both exciting and easy to read quickly. They both meet their intended mates, but circumstances interfere, and they each end up on divergent adventures while attempting to follow all of their culture's courting rituals. Each story features strong female leads who are up to the challenges they have to face in the pursuit of happiness!
I struggled with this one. I so enjoyed the series and I really wanted to read Julia’s book - and I just couldn’t. The second novella was ok I guess. However in the rest of the series the men were kind, respectful, fun, sexy, determined and decent - these two, and I don’t know if it was just because they were novellas, but both the males were absolute alpha holes. I do not know how the women didn’t say, nah I’m going home.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. These two books in one are a fun treat and a great introduction to the Mail Order Brides of Crakair. While both novellas read like instalove stories, they provide good worldbuilding for this series. I love the interaction between these characters. The delayed speed of the translator chip provide for some funny misunderstandings. Thea and Julia have been chosen for the Mail Order Bride program. After getting lost on the way to the reception, they're swooped up by two Crakairian warriors. Will they get to the reception? What about their chosen mates, Axil and Gaje? This is a fun read and I am looking forward to more.
