Love love loved this!! To me this wasn't just a book - this is the introduction into the luck series and what a series it will be. I love how not only the girls friendship shines through but also the friendship of the writers for each character you can see the author behind the words. It truly is a magnificent piece of art and It leaves you wanting more and excited to read the entire series.

I've never really been into reading co-writing books but I was intrigued by the concept they had and wanted to see where it would take us. I've only read books by Elizabeth Knight who I freaking adore! The other authors certainty have some books on my TBR I just haven't quite gotten to yet but I was excited to jump into this one and see what the writing style would be like not to mention just how well it would flow with 4 authors writing together.

All the girls bring their own brand of craziness to the friendship and you can't help but be struck by the level of love and fondness they all seem to have for each other. We see through the course of their spring break vacation as they bump into the different guys along the way and get a sense of foreshadowing of who exactly the guys will be plus just what exactly the trouble with them could entail. While the book is short it sure manages to pack quite a bit into it and just leaves you hungering for what happens next.

I'm beyond excited for this series and can't wait to know the girls and their guys even better. The authors did an amazing job of keeping the story seamless and it's incredibly difficult to know who wrote what. If you haven't read this book yet, I must implore you to stop whatever you're doing and just get lost in all the trouble to follow.

Lennon, Harper, Skyler, and Bristol are sisters in every way that counts. Graduation is looming with the uncertainty of their futures, so the girls decide one last spring break is in order. A visit into the city, Chicago packed with sightseeing, day drinking, good dinners, and dancing all lead up to the big event. St Patrick's Day. It's a day filled with a green river, green beer, an Irish dive bar, and all the shenanigans the girls could have dreamed of for their final spring break. But the end of the night finds the girls all separated from one another, possibly in danger, and all with handsome men. Now more than ever, they need a little luck of the Irish on their sides.

I didn't realize what I was getting into with this book. I should learn to read the full description of a book. In this case, this is a prequel novella to 4 separate books. Each girl will get her own RH in her own book by her own author. Once I read the description (Halfway through the novella) the book made so much more sense. Until then it seemed frenetic. The different POVs each had a different voice yet managed to be repetitive. Yes, I get it, they love each other! I kept waiting for one girl to step out as the Lead Female. I kept waiting for one group of guys to take control. Yes, I admit, it took me way too long to go back and read the description. It's a fun idea. A little confusing in the execution. It was hard to keep everyone straight except for Sky. This girl is a standout. I'm not sure if I continue with the girl's books based on this. No one grabbed me enough to make it a must-read but we will see. I love RH and I love mafia. Never say never.

When the Some Kind of Luck series was announced with the focus being on four friends who are more like sisters, I was immediately excited. I love romance stories where there's also a strong theme of friendship. Add in the fact that the men were going to be attractive and dangerous and I've been (im)patiently waiting for this book and I was not disappointed whatsoever once I got my hands on it.

This first book is the introduction to the girls' friendship and the events leading up to the next books in the series and I found The Trouble With Luck to be a fun and entertaining read. Each of the main characters stands out uniquely and the book is told via their four points of view, alternating chapters. Through those different POVs, we learn more about each of the girls and also get introduced to some of the men who are likely going to be starring in the upcoming books with these ladies.

I really liked the mix of characters and hints of the conflicts ahead, because the men introduced are clearly wrapped up in bigger events, which Skyler, Lennon, Bristol, and Harper are now a part of too. There's definitely insta-lust and insta-connection happening in these pages and I am here for it! Excited to see where the rest of the series goes as these ladies find their HEAs and each other again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Trouble with Luck is currently at the top of my favourite reads for 2021. Co-write series are either exceptionally good, or they fall flat… and this one, I have no idea how four different ladies managed to pull this off and make it flow so seamlessly. This book is a book that has some funny moments, some sexy moments (despite no sex), and murdery moments (by this I mean an actual murder).

The book focuses on four main characters - Skyler, Lennon, Harper and Bristol - and the chapters alternate to let each of them tell the story. I read the first chapter, Skyler’s, and I was vibing with her, and then it switched to Lennon, and it worked. Harper came next before ending with Bristol, and they rotated in the same order for all twelve chapters.

Skyler is the resident wild child. She’s funny, loud-mouthed and is usually the one pushing the boundaries for the other girls. She’s confident, but not arrogant, caring but not a push-over, and loyal to a fault. Her artistic nature is carried through, and it only adds to the image I have of this character.

Lennon is the one I resonate with most. She’s meticulous in her school work, and wants nothing more than to be the very best version of herself that she can be. Compared to the ladies she sees as her soul sisters, she’s more reserved. Her mind is an interesting place, and I think her internal thoughts are the ones I liked best out of the girls.

Harper is one of the purest characters I think I might have ever read. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying she’s naive or a do-gooder, but she’s sweet. Her first chapter portrayed her as floaty, but funny, and the interactions with each of the girls added a realness to the story. Their bond is shown through their interactions with each other within this chapter.

Bristol’s character makes me laugh, and want to wrap her in a hug. Two big differences, but still. From her abrasive nature, her willingness to throw down for her girls, and her mothering nature (that only comes second to Lennon), it’s clear to see why she fits in with this group. Bristol needs this group more than I’d say even Harper does. Bristol has a bit of a sad backstory, and I think these girls have helped her open up a lot. She’s going to be one of the most amazing social workers this world has seen - and then I kicked myself because in the realness and familiarity of these characters, they’re just that. Characters.

The men… oh the men… there are so many. Harper’s men are the ones that you get warned away from, and not just the bad boys from your parents, but the murderers from society. I’m so excited for her story, because the dynamics there are going to be hilarious. Lennon’s men, are separated into two groups in my mind. The psychos and then the more rational ones. It’s going to be great seeing how our reserved girl fits in with them. Next up is Bristol, and honestly, one of her guys is so intense, I’m ready to get on a plane to Ireland. Now, Skyler’s men confuse me. I’m not truly sure who is in her group yet, so I’m excited for her own individual book so I can see.

This book is far too short for my liking, but it’s packed full of amazingness. I want to be part of this group of friends, because I think we all need them. They use a phrase one heart throughout the book, and I hope it’s okay that I steal it to use too. The characters are real. The story is enticing. I honestly recommend this to anyone who loves contemporary books, because this is a story of four best friends, and at the core, I don’t think that’s going to go away.

Positives: the entire thing, but particularly, chapter seven. Harper being drunk is next level comedy.
Negatives: okay, so I love cliffhangers just as much as the next person (okay, a person who loves them), but four in one book has me on the edge of my seat. FOUR IN ONE BOOK!!!

Now, I’m even more eager for Tough Luck, because after reading the description of No Such Luck, it seems each individual book is going to pick up from the end of their chapters. These authors are talented, funny, and major assholes (in a good way of course).

Congrats ladies! This is an amazing introduction to the series, and I’m so excited for what comes next. Co-writes are usually a big hit or a big miss for me, and this one ticked all the boxes. This should be on everyone’s TBR.

Elizabeth Knight is one of my favorite authors, I love her writing and when I heard that she was getting together with Ali D. Jensen, Sinclair Kelly, and Letty Frame I knew I wanted to give it a try. While Knight is very well known to me, the other authors are somewhat familiar to me, I know of them, actually want to read a couple of their books so The Trouble with Luck seems like it's the perfect opportunity.

I believe this to be a contemporary mafia reverse harem that is center on four best friends who are each other chosen family, sisters. Skylar, Lennon, Bristol, and Harper have a very strong bond and have been roommates for most of their college lives. Skyler is the artist with a big heart and a fiery soul, Lennon is the caregiver who plans everything, Bristol is the closed-off one with a bit of a temper and Harper is the happy innocent one if not a little flaky. They love and protect each other something fierce, their bond is something so special and to them, they are closer than family. I loved seeing them interact with each other, the funny times, accepting each other for who they are, their faults and all. They not only support each other but they also push each other out of their comfort zones, try to make each other better without push boundaries.

The girls are graduating very soon and they wanted on last bonding trip before the real world comes crashing down and what better place to do that than to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in downtown Chicago. The girls have a great time bonding, sight-seeing, and having fun all the way up until St. Patty's when they each meet a group of guys that change their lives. Each of the girls meets their own group of guys in mostly very weird ways. The girls are normal (except for Harper but that is just a whole new thing) but the guys they encounter are more than a little weird and most definitely violent. I mean some of the things the guys say are a little off-putting and this is from someone who is weird and reads weird stuff. There was only a glimpse of the guy's personalities and I was very interested in seeing what they're like in a full story.

The Trouble with Luck is just a novella and a lot went happened in this short story, I can't imagine what's gonna happen in the full novels. I don't know how the stories are set up but I am hoping that each girl's point-of-view is represented. I will admit that I'm a little worried because I very rarely read contemporary, I mean once in about five years, and then there is the fact that the other authors are new to me so I don't know if I like their writing style yet but after the crazy hijinks in The Trouble with Luck I wanna know what happens next.

This novella introduces the Some Kind of Luck Series, co-written by multiple authors. This series is about four girlfriends who are closer than sisters and get into trouble on St. Patrick's Day. The first story is a novella and an introduction to this suspense fiction. However, this wasn't what I expected to read, and while intriguing, I wasn't fascinated enough to continue this series.

This book joins Skyler, Lennon, Harper, and Bristol. I find it intriguing that each girl is entirely different, yet they are all best friends. Skyler loves her jeep and her music, and her best friend, whom she shared a house with, is the be of the nocturnal ones. Bristol and Lennon are the only reason they don't starve, as these girls are in their final year of university.

Spring break in downtown Chicago over St. Patrick's Day. This sounds like a recipe for trouble. Lennon is a dreamer. She desires freedom, travel, and dreams, not love and romance. Lennon is more like the group's mom, earthy and mature. Harper is fun and easygoing. Bristol can cook but also help others. The girls altogether are like sisters hanging with each other.

St. Patrick's day brings on the green river, green beer, and raucous people. The girls are excited about their holiday in Chicago. Omg, these girls' inebriated is hilarious. Leave it to Bristol to get in trouble with an Irishmen and an Irish pub. What poor Skyler and now Lennon? This book just got crazy.

I have to admit this is a lot of characters to track in the storyline. Yikes, Harper had gotten herself into some deep trouble. This novella takes an interesting turn, but it doesn't end with any satisfaction. We don't know where the friends are, and no one has been looking for them yet. I know this is the start of the series, but I'm not that interested in reading more so far.

This book is phenomenal. This book is a collaboration by 4 of the most extraordinary best selling authors, so you know this series is going to be epic! Trouble With Luck is book one and introduces us to 4 best friends, in their last year of college, looking to have fun in Chicago on St.Patrick's Day. What could possibly go wrong?!

Lennon, Harper, Skyler, and Bristol have been inseparable the past four years while studying at NIU. With graduation right around the corner, they plan an epic spring break getaway to make new, lasting memories that will get them through the uncertainty that lies ahead.

After days of sightseeing in the city, filling their time away with laughter and fun, the day they've been waiting for finally arrives. St. Patrick’s Day! Settling in at an Irish dive bar where the dancing is sinful, the drinks are flowing, and there are shenanigans to be had, they have no idea that everything is about to change. Only when they each find themselves drawn to attractive, yet dangerous, men do they realize they might be in trouble - these guys could easily be their undoing.

Separated from each other, thrust into a war they don’t understand, and facing unknown dangers, how will they survive? Will their bonds of friendship be strong enough to withstand the turmoil they find themselves in, or will it be the catalyst to send it all up in flames? Will the menacing men they can't seem to stay away from be their salvation, or their damnation?

Find out in this reverse harem novella that sets the stage for the Some Kind of Luck series. This is book one of six. Books two through five will each feature one FMC and her men, culminating in the epic conclusion to the series in book six.

I highly recommend this book.

This was a new approach to a series for me. This is the into to the series, Four best friends go on spring break to Chicago and each meet their own harem of mysterious men. I loved the friendship between the girls, who are more like sisters. My sisters and I always say we make each others hearts happy when we get together so these girls sayin “one heart” really hit me in the feels. It’s a slow burn but it was action packed and interesting. When I thought I knew who was going with who~ they tricked me, it was twisty and unpredictable ~ which I like so I mean that in the best way! I read it in 2 days. The four girls all meeting their harem in this first book was a little confusing at first, I had to pay attention just because there was so many characters and so much was happening all at once. It’s a fated mate kinda feeling to it, these girls were meant to be there at that time and place to meet their men, even if they don’t know that yet. The character personalities and descriptions are great, I could see everything in my head and picture what is happening- which I love when a book can do that~ pull me in so I picture the character and what is happening and not just reading words. It was very well written and it left me with so much curiosity and speculation for the next book. I can’t wait for book 2 to find out more about these men and the world that is unfolding.

First off I want to say that this is a group colab with 4 different authors - so this first book is written by all of them, specifically each is writing for one of the 4 FMC.

The story starts with the girls wanting to take a trip before they graduate from college and what perfect trip do you take for sprinkle break? Why you go party in Chicago for St. pattys day!

This story starts to take twists and turns like a champ but you are already sucked in my the likeable main characters that you don't mind going for the ride.

I will admit that the first half of the book was little slow because it was about the girls only and gave you the story as to who they are, why they work as friends and what their role is in that friendship. I understand why we the readers NEED this information because the books after are split into 4, one of each FMC.

Trust me as soon as the guys come into play you start to get REAL interested as they are Hot Hot Hot! Once they split up (by accident) it starts to get so good that you grumble (yes I totally outwardly grumbled) that you don't have the next book.

Get this book, trust me, this is going to be a series to remember. 😉

3.5 stars rounded down to 3. Biggest pro to this book: I love the women's friendship. They seem to balance each other out and take care of each other and that's a lovely thing, I aspire to having such a "found family" in my personal life.

Cons: 1) I thought that the authors constantly *talking* about the friendship was repetitive. 2) There's quite a lot happening in a very short amount of time - as we have to follow 4 RHs being created in one night - and it made some parts of the book hard to follow.

Suggestions: At the end of the book, one of the women (Bristol) did a quick summary in her head that would have been useful sprinkled into the book at least more than once to make sure that we're following.
"First Harper with her man at the café—Cosmo, I think his name is. Lennon got hit by cupid’s arrow when she saw that Tiernan guy, the dominant dude that was all serious and angry. Then there’s me with all of the hot bar employees."

I know this was an introduction, so I will be reading the next one. Let's go find out what happens to our women =).

What a teaser for the rest of the series! I love the ladies and their close relationship. They banter back and forth like real sisters, and their relationship makes me want a sisterhood like theirs. My favorite line from the book is "We're all weird, we're all different, but we all fit together." Harper is absolutely hilarious! Ninja is all I'm gonna spill about her shenanigans. lol Bristol's past is mysterious, and you automatically want to know what she has been through. Skyler is the loose cannon of the group, and you want to see what she is going to say or do next. Lennon is straight-laced and the mother hen, but her care for the others comes through loud and clear. This book is like the ultimate sampler of chocolates: you take a bite of each flavor and are left wanting more. I am so excited to see how these authors write the individual stories and how they weave them all back together at the end!

For anyone in love with sexy men, strong opinionated females, and shenanigans, this is an ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!! Bristol, Harper, Lennon, and Skyler are probably the sweetest, most loveable girls ever written about and each of them has such a unique and distinct personality, yet they complete each other so perfectly. As they put it "One Heart."
Once they've arrived in Chicago for their girls trip and the men start popping in to the story....hold on for the ride!!! The chemistry between each girl and her men is intoxicating, fierce, and beautifully emotional. Each girl's story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger as the following books in the series will focus on one girl at a time and her men.
With 4 authors behind this first book in the series, I wasn't quite sure it would mesh together but it wonderfully surpassed my expectations and I have no doubt that the rest of the books will be filled with even more passion, excitement, danger, and desire.

The Trouble With Luck is such an amazing introduction to the six book series. I am a huge Sinclair Kelly fan, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. This is the first book in the series, and we get to meet the four lovely female characters, Lennon, Harper, Skyler, and Bristol, and all the shenanigans the ladies get into on St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago. Each female character has a unique personality and they all come from various backgrounds, but their bond has strengthened more as sister than friends. We also get to meet some of the hot as sin male characters that we will get to know more about in the future books. It seems like our leading ladies unknowingly step into a world they know nothing about and are about to have an adventure of a lifetime. I have so many theories and I cannot wait for the next book of the series to see all the drama and love play out. Highly recommended!!!

This book is the definition of chaotic good. This is the introduction to four best friends Skyler, Bristol, Lennon, and Harper. It all started with a trip to Chicago for St. Patrick's day, then it just spiraled from there. All of the ladies have very distinct personalities and voices so it was easy to follow and understand who was speaking and what was happening. This is the first book in a series that will tell each of the ladies' stories individually. I appreciate that this book introduces us to the four and allows us to see their unique dynamic, each has a different yet important role in their quartet. I have a feeling that understanding the four of them together will be an important part of their individual journeys. We are introduced to quite a few characters but it was not difficult to keep track. I am very excited to see where this journey takes all of our girls.

At first I had a little trouble getting into the book, but boy, am I glad I stuck with it! The first half was a bit slow, however, half way through it really started to pick up and I stopped caring where it was going. Now I am completely hooked and I can't wait for the next book. The trouble with an amazing start is waiting for the next book.

What you need to know:

• multi-pov of the female main characters (they have all been promised their own book in this series)
•it IS a RH (I wasn't sure in the beginning, but now I am).
•this is a prelude: it is setting you up for the remaining books. It is an intro into each woman and you get an idea of what starts their own adventure.
•no m/m as of yet. I am not sure if there will be in future books.

All in all a great book that starts what looks to be an amazing series.

This book was great. It builds a foundation for each MC in the book and makes you want more. These soul sisters are so different from each other you would never expect that they would ever be friends. They meld together so well. So it starts out right before mid terms and Spring break approaches. Spring break is on St Patty’s day so this is their last escapade before they move on to the next chapter in their lives. This is where the twists and turns start. They get separated and I really want to know what the outcome for each of the leading ladies! Like I want to know now. Can’t wait for book 2 and hopefully I will get some of the answers I need. It’s a great short read but leaves you wanting more.

This book is a great set up to the series that leaves you wanting more. The book starts off slow as it introduces characters and sets the scene for their spring break trip to Chicago, then it builds up quickly. The girls character development is very well done, letting you see a bit of the authors personalities in the girls. As the story progresses, they all find themselves getting into trouble leading them down their own path along with meeting their men. It had multiple cliffhangers, but this only left me intrigued and wanting to read each girl's story.

These ladies did an amazing job! I highly recommend this book, I can not wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What an interesting book to read. So we have four friends Bristol, Harper, Lennon, and Skylar. Now these girls backgrounds are a bit of a mystery. They meet each other in college and are all about to graduate. They are not ready to leave each other and deal with what will come next in their life. So why not party on spring break. Only for each of these girls to meet some men. There is a lot of action that happens in this book as well as sparks of electricity. The book establishes each of the girls story. We see each of their personalities and let me say these girls are full of surprises. You will get a some laughs and also feel their concerns. You will love each of the girls and I cannot wait for each of their stories to come out.

Great introduction novella that has me super excited to read the rest of the books! I really enjoyed meeting each of the MC's and learning about them. I liked that we got to see each MC meet-cutes with their perspective guys. Because the novella features each MC and their guys I did find it a little hard to keep up with the characters and everyones names, but I'm sure that will change as we get separate books for each MC.

What I am looking forward to in future books: I'm excited to learn more about the guys and see where the plot/relationships go.

This book is jam packed. This story is an introduction to the Some Kind of Luck series. Four friends from university decide to spend their spring break of their final year enjoying St. Patrick's Day in Chicago. They are more than friends, they are family of the heart. Each of the main female characters are unique and nuanced. Each having a back story that affects their current life. At the last pub of the day long St. Paddy's day pub crawl, they each meet interesting men. The also begin a journey that forces them to separate and face unknown difficulty.
I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

This book was amazing!!! I absolutely loved the closeness of girls. It was funny, witty, drama and flirty. It will have you joining the #teamnosleep group for sure, because the moment that you pick it up you will not be able to put it down. You just have to know what is going to happen next. It leaves you on the edge of your seat and is full of so many surprises that you will never know what is going to happen. I highly recommend this book. It is a fun read, especially reading all the shenanigans that the girls get up to. I love all the girls but if I had to pick, I would definitely say that Bristol and Skyler are my spirit animals. Can not wait until the next book.

This is the foundation book to start off each individual book for 4 best friends that just wanted a great last Spring Break before graduation. The flow of the book is magnificent even though each chapter is a different perspective from the 4 main ladies. You get to know a bit about each one and their different personalities and how they work together. I personally loved this novella and can NOT wait to read each girls new journey that this book has set them up on. The characters are all different and the men seem to be the right fit with each girl but also have you like o...m...g...how is this gonna play out. Don't pass this up, a definite great read.

This book was amazing! It is told in multiple POV's and follows 4 friends having Spring Break. It is unique because the series follows the FMC's Bristol, Harper, Lennon and Skyler and their men. The girls have a strong friendship so will it keep them together and able to make their Journey easier. The Trouble with Luck covers an introduction to our 4 FMC's and the series. Each book will feature one FMC and their men. I highly recommend this book! It is written by 4 of my favorite authors; Ali D Jensen, Elizabeth Knight, Letty Frame and Sinclair Kelly. Their collaberation is awesome. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

There are 4 story lines and 4 main characters. You’d think it would be confusing but it’s absolutely now. It flows seamlessly as these 4 friends go out to play on St Patrick’s day and find adventure...in the scariest of ways. All 4 of them find love interests, but not in the traditional way...it also seems that there is a lot of danger surrounding the bar that they decided to have drinks in. I think that this will be one heck of an incredible ride. This book drew me right in and refused to let go, until I realized that I had finished it. I need more ! I have questions ! That’s how amazing this book was.
