Growing up in Australia and the UK, Abigail often found herself covered in paint or flour, or lost in a book. After a BA in English and a PhD on Medieval Castles, she combined her interests writing Usborne children's books - from cookery, craft and castles to science and unicorns.
I got this book for my eleven year old son who really isn't a reader, unfortunately. I sat down and looked through it and was pleasantly surprised at the mixture of fascinating facts and beautiful illustrations. I'm hoping it'll spark some interest. It looks fascinating, nothing too intimidating and offers links to other online materials if a particular argument is liked more than another. I could see some of the material easily being adopted for early ESL learners too so it could be a useful resource for English teachers too. Highly recommend. The whole Usbourne Stem series looks wonderful.
This is a cute little book I bought for my classroom. I wanted to read it before I brought it to the kids. It is an awesome book about scientists and the discoveries they made. The book includes ALL types of scientists. It has a diverse range of people which is why I gave it five stars I can't wait to have it in my classroom library.
Beautifully illustrated book that covers all sorts of scientists and their amazing discoveries. A really great book to inspire children. However, bear in mind some topics could be a bit tricky for young children, and even some adults, to fully comprehend.
