On Risda III, it’s custom for women to marry for convenience. It provides safety and security in a universe that offers none for humans.
Me, I don’t really *need* a husband. I just want one. And I want one man in particular. There’s a new guy in town, a by-the-books military man named Rektar. Every day I show up to his office and flirt with him. I bring pies. I twirl my hair. I make it very, very obvious what I want.
Rektar is patient, and gentle for all his hulking form. He’d be a great husband. He’s also completely clueless that I’m flirting with him.
Ruby Dixon is an author of Science Fiction Romance. She likes fated mates, baby-filled epilogues, and cinnamon roll heroes. She also likes to write biographies of herself in the third person, because it feels more important that way.
Ruby also loves coffee and dirty books and will probably be a cat lady at some point. :)
Lovely addition to the series. Maybe don't start here if it's your first book by the author, it kinda felt like a story for devoted fans. Nevertheless, it was sweet and sexy, with a strong heroine. I liked it!
The following ratings are out of 5: Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔 World building: 🪐🪐🪐🪐🪐 Character development: 🤖🙄👽🤤👾
The heroine:Lucy - a curvy girl on an alien world. Lucy loves to cook and has a crush on a Massakah male named Rektar. She loves to cook and brings him food every day.
The Hero:Rektar - a massive blue straight-laced military alien. He works on Risda’s Port Authority. Rektar has some issues from his past and doesn’t think he can get a woman, especially one as pretty as Lucy. He is awkward, and endearing and has no clue she has been flirting with him. He has a crush on her but thinks she is just lonely and wants company.
The Story: Most of the people on Risda are unfriendly, especially towards the Mesakkah since Mesakkah law is so strict and the people don’t look to kindly on the people that enforce the law in any way. Before arriving on Risda, Rektar and his co-worker went through all sorts of training on how to deal with humans and other aliens who were abducted from Earth and spent time as captives or slaves. So he enacts a lot of the training tips he learned. Things like not getting too close or looming over them.
I liked this one from the start. Rektar was in the military since he was young and never spent much time around females so his reactions to Lucy were so delightful. Lucy thinks Rektar is a clueless flirt. The story was cute from the start.
** Re-read** 3️⃣ September 11, 2023 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 4½ stars.
Still as good as first time reading. Just too short and rushed and needed more character development and more backstory to the main characters. Very likable main characters. Also a big plus that the heroine is curvy/plus size and also confident and strong/bold. Really awesome book-cover.
I love this series and I loved Rektar. Lucy was a strong sweet curvy girl who went after a good decent man Rektar. When she finally busted through his shyness and belief that he wasn't good enough for her, she couldn't keep his hands and mouth off of her. This was so sweet it'll give you a toothache lol.
Rekhtar was such an adorable, clueless, frustratingly respectful, enormously built blue-BABE that it wasn't hard to feel Lucy's sexual and non-sexual frustration and exasperation at his overtly respectful actions through my kindle 🤦♀️💓

When She's Bold de Ruby Dixon Serie Risdaverse 6
Argumento:
"You shouldn't go to all the trouble," he tells me with a stern look, even as he reaches for another muffin. "Nonsense." I set it on his plate with a flourish and lean in, hoping he notices that my neckline dips low. "I'm happy to put all kinds of things in front of your mouth for you to taste." Behind us, Khex chokes on his muffin, wheezing.
honestly all I have to say for why this worked so well for me is that the heroine's courting & love language was making food for her loved ones . . . but also the guy being not as "ripped" just a soft bear of a guy who loved to eat his woman's food (and other things ehehe)?? Phenomenal.
Also so happy to hear there's going to be more Risdaverse books because HI HELLO KHEX IS MY FAV BOY I NEED HIS STORY ASAP also the other two oddballs were fun new intro characters.
This was a nice, lighter entry in the Risdaverse-- I liked that we had a heroine who had a lighter backstory, and I am always a sucker for a bold heroine with a shy hero. Bonus points for a virgin hero
I'm gonna go the five stars for this one. I felt there was more story and the two characters were better written inside this fun-sized read, if I was comparing the three I have read in the Risdaverse. The formula is simple but sexy. I can feel an alien addiction coming on.
When She’s Bold is a novella part of Ruby Dixon’s Risdaverse series and I’ve been having the best time binging these! Ruby Dixon is just always a win for me and this alien romance series has been such fun.
In this novella we are back on the planet Risda III and it’s Lucy and Rektar’s story! These two were sooo cute and sweet together. Basically we have mutual pining whether neither is aware about the other one being into them and too shy to make a move. Lucy is a human and really needs to find herself a husband for protection, plus she’s just really into Rektar! She keeps flirting with him every time she shows up at his work, brings him baked goods, wears her cutest clothes, but he doesn’t seem to be getting the hint. So she’s ready to make him finally notice and I loved seeing it!
I loved the mutual pining, their shared love for food, we have a cinnamon roll/sweet hero, plus size heroine, and it was just so fun seeing these two come together and realize they’re on the same page about one another! When he’s not getting the hint and she doesn’t think he’s interested she tells him she wants a husband and maybe he can recommend a friend, he gets possessive and realizes it could be him instead. I loved his list after they marry of things she would be okay with for their relationship. Such a fun addition to the series!
This is a novella apart of the Risdaverse series by Ruby Dixon. This is all about Lucy and Rektar. They both live on the same planet called Risda III. Lucy owns a farm on the planet, while Rektar is somewhat of the town officer. Lucy visits Rektar almost daily to bring him baked goods and shamelessly flirt with him. She will do everything in her power to make sure that Rektar becomes her husband.
This was super cute!! One of my favorites in the series for sure! I love how much these characters love food (BECAUSE SAME) and how they were so shy and sweet with one another!! I only wish that there was more! I want to read more about them!
TROPES: alien romance, cinnamon roll hero, foodie romance, kindle unlimited, longing, never been kissed, non-human, plus-size rep, sweet heroes
Very cute Risda iii short, featuring the ever-bubbly Lucy and Rektar, our first hefty Big Blue. (Which...about damn time. I can not be the only person who is sick of these "Mr. Universe" style bodies with muscles for show when the real power lifters are solid and thick through the middle. More mountains/bears, please. Thank you.)
Someday I would love to know how their last names work: sa' vs va' vs i'...etc. This was the first time a situation with a non-acknowledged child has come up.
Only real quibble with this one is the conflict/obstacle-that-wasn't: it wrapped up before it even began. So. Totally smooth ride here, folx. No drama, just a lot of cute awkwardness and trying to tempt a mate with muffins.
Reread because I never tracked this the first time I read it. This series always makes me happy and I esp love this book because of all the sweetness with the H being shy and uncertain and the h needing to be the bold on. Amazing and sweet epilogue two years out. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama, H is a virgin and h is not, no need for bc.
I feel bad because I like Lucy, but I just can’t round this one up. There’s nothing going on for 100 pages. She flirts and throws hints that sail right over his head. They dance around each other, decide to get married, have sex. The end.
No development, no drama, no chemistry, no action, nothing.
Bottom Line- The characters were cute but I needed some plot or smut.
4.25 stars✨ the happy, lightheartedness was a nice change. I swear I love novellas but once again, this would be so good just a little longer! I love how Lucy knows what the fuck she wants and her boldness. Love how Rektar was a clueless sweetheart lmfao
This was a cute, quick and sweet little novella. Just how I like them. Easy breezy with a curvy girl who loves to cook and a burly alien man who loves to eat that cooking and more. 😉
4 stars. I am absolutely obsessed with Ruby Dixon’s Alien books, especially those that are set outside of the ice planet. Her Risdaverse and Corsairs series are my favs & I can’t get enough of the world that she’s created. I couldn’t wait to read this book when I saw that it was released, and it didn’t disappoint.
This is a relatively short story, about Lucy and Rektar. Lucy has been trying to get Rektar’s attention for a long time, but he seems oblivious or disinterested in her attention. They have some very awkward interactions (awkward yet sweet for the most part) and they finally manage to work out their miscommunication. Their story is adorable and I loved almost all of it. My one complaint is that the hero was a virgin, and I wish for once we could get a story of two virgins instead of one experienced partner. It’s a little off putting when the heroine compares him to past lovers right during their only sex scene. 😖

This novella was short, cute and just what I needed. For such a short story it was a surprisingly slow burn. I liked Lucy from the last Risdaverse book I read and her trying to flirt with an on oblivious alien just seemed like it would make for a good short read so I'm glad I checked this out :)
Rektar and Lucy are such a cute couple. She tries to woo him with baking him pies but he's so shy and overweight for a Mesakkah. This is likely the first book I've read where the hero is also plus-sized. But it's still a sweet story.
I have never been wanted. I am used to that. But I have also never wanted anything as much as I want Lucy.
Rektar and Lucy were adorable!! This whole book was adorable. She was bought by an old alien who needed a companion/nurse so Lucy’s life was better than most. This means she was also happier than most. And I just loved her!! Rektar had a solitary lonely life. They were both lonely. So watching them get together was everything. I was literally cheering these two on the whole story. It was short and very sweet.
