Time doesn’t change the instant attraction
When Addie was 16 she was with friends partying in the woods she drunk quite a bit she was lost in the woods when a panther was about to attack her but what she saw next change her life forever! She saw a man turn into a bear. And he saved her, in front of her eyes. Them made eye contact and she was lost in the most amazing feelings. Then all she hears is her friends calling out her name. She tried to explain much it’s all over friends just put it past her drinking too much and went back to the party. But Addie never forgot what she saw sometimes she thought she was going insane. She Got a necklace with a bear on it and it made her feel closer to him.
Now years later she is doing an internship with a newspaper whilst still at college and there’s been reports of a murder in the forest that she used to go to. She goes to the office and asked to cover the story. And they say yes, and she finds herself on the way back to where she saw her bear.
Gunner thought he could keep everyone safe. He was the Alpha and took it very seriously. but now with the murder happening he knew he had to find the rogue shifter before he killed again. There were reporters everywhere and it was making his life very difficult. He makes his way into town to the diner he feels eyes on him. He turns and his whole body comes alive. It’s her, the girl he has never been able to forget. But he knows He would never be able to have a future with her, Who would want to live a life with a shifter??? This life is too dangerous for humans. So he must get Addie to leave. But will she go???
But can They keep their hands off each other?? Will there be any more murders?? Can Gunner keep Addie safe????
I really struggled with the beginning this book and found myself putting it down quite often which is never a good sign for me. But as the story went on and I got to know Gunner and Addie I was more interested in the story so that’s why I gave you four stars. Is it a good story the plots is good.

I'm a bit torn on this one. Something parts I liked: Gunner and his close knit posey of shifters. I'm a sucker for cute friendships and these guys all had each other's backs and were protective and supportive when they needed to be.
What I had a hard to warming up to is the heroine, Addie. Her character didn't really change much from the flighty 16 year old to the clingy 21 year old. Her reactions seemed either too over the top or she didn't really have any reaction at all. For example, when she is confronted by a guy who shifts into a bear and fights a panther, she's in shock, then she quietly accepts that what she saw was real but no one will believe so she goes about her life. Then when she sees Gunner (bear shifter) again and she confronts him, she can't seem to grasp why Gunner isn't overjoyed that she's claiming to know his secret?!?
I get people have dense moments but Addie was pushie when she should have been cautious and demanding when she should have been understanding. I found myself rolling my eyes way to much at her immature antics.
Granted Gunner does cause this girl whiplash with his hot and cold back and forth routine but I wish that Addie would have shown more self respect and a backbone to stand up for herself without rely on the sexual attraction between them.
Overall the story was good but could have used a bit more character development for the both the Hero and heroine.

Hot shifters, mystery, brutal murder's and an angsty love story. What more could you possibly want.
Gunner needs to keep his packs secret and quiet town safe, while trying to figure out what to do with the sassy, stubborn Addie that just won't take no for an answer.
He wants nothing more than to put the past behind him . But there's no denying what he's always felt since the night they met.
Poor Gunner just can't seem to catch a break, with groups of hunters turning up to catch the beast, is he the hunter or the hunted?
I like the fact he isn't your typical alpha trying to claim what's his. All he wants to do is keep her safe from a distance, but when Addie's life is threatened, it's like waving a red rag Infront of a bull.
Although she gets a little stalker ish Addie knows what she wants and isn't going down without a fight, determined to make him see whats right Infront of him.
The guys in the pack definitely need their own books.
You don't get much of an insight into them in this book, just enough to leave you curious.

Gunnar and Addie. A shifter and a human. When Gunnar saves Addie from a rogue panther shifter, thus revealing his true nature, Addie isn't afraid of him, and when she returns to town years later to report on a some gruesome animal attacks she runs into him again and knows that he was real. Now she must convince him to reveal what he truly is and give them a chance to be together. This story had the potential to make you really fall in love with the couple.... BUT it was entirely too short. It could have been epic if it was at least double the length. This was my first experience with this author, and I would gladly read more of her work.

Addie first meets Gunner one night at a during a party while she is in high school. After Gunner saves her life she passes out and everyone assumes she is drunk and seeing things when she tells her friends about seeing a man turn into a bear. Many years later right before graduating college for Journalism she is sent on assignment back to the small town of Hollow Cove where she first met Gunner. There is someone or something killing people and Addie is there to get the story. Gunner and his pack is trying to track down the shifter responsible. Great story and will look forward to more from this author.

Cute shifter romance
Admittedly, my initial draw to Dark King, by Leigh Allen, was the cover model. I don’t know if it’s the beard, the flannel, or the tattoos - heck, maybe all three - but that was my initial drive to pick this up. And once I started, I could not put it down!
This story was a fun shifter-romance with a murder-mystery twist.
The writing is very descriptive and it sets the scenes very well. I swear sometimes I could see the town and feel the shift of the wind as Leigh Allen described it.
This is the second book in the Dark Haven Alpha King series; I haven’t read the first one (this stood alone just fine), but I enjoyed it, and I will be reading the first book next!

This is the first book I've read by Leigh Allen and overall it was an OK read. As a teen wandering in the woods heading home fro a party (yes, she was tipsy), Addie witnesses a man turn into a bear and kill a panther. She passes out and when she tells her story, everyone tells her it was a drunken dream. Years later, she sees the man again and confronts him with her memories. Gunner is a bear shifter and while surprised she remembers him, tells her to leave town for her own safety. This was fast paced, steamy at times, but I thought Addie was a bit annoying and immature. It was just OK.

This book 2 in The Dark Haven Alpha Kings Book Series is a steamy standalone shifter Romance with a tough, rugged and sexy alpha shifter and his sexy woman. This very well written book has amazing characters who are very well crafted with good histories and personalities. This has an amazing storyline with a complicated and exciting relationship between a shifter and a human. The Characters in this book are very well written with problems which they resolve and the characters evolve in this story. This is a must read.

Gunner was the Alpha bear of his pack that lived in Bear Creek. When Addie was sixteen, she was attacked by a panther while she was at a pasture party and Gunner shifted in front of her and saved her but no one believed her story thinking she was drunk. Years later in her last year of college Addie was assigned a job in Bear Creek where an animal was killing people. When Gunner and Addie saw each other again old memories and feelings were stirred and their interesting and exciting romance began and was filled with danger, intrigue, disappointment, secrets revealed, and true love. Fun read.

One drunken night Addie is almost attacked by a panther, but Aman comes to jer rescue. He changes into a bear and does away with the panther saving jer. Was this real or a filigmet of her drunken haze? She holds onto the thought for years. She returns to the same town years later and runs into the guy from years ago proving je existed. Now what will she do? Will she confront him about what happened years ago? Great storyline with intrigue, mystery, and romance.

I found the story really entertaining and exciting! The cover fits the book because Gunner and the other three come across as dark and mysterious. And Gunner is really rude and grumpy to Addie at the beginning. I liked that!
If you like a steamy and exciting romance with a HEA, this is the right place! I think I'll check out the first book in the series too.

Dark King by Leigh Allen is such an awesome story that I have had the privilege to read and give my honest review on. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have been so hooked on since the beginning. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about bear shifters, fantasy and paranormal romance.

I really like this shifter murder mystery and romance.

Wow this book get so hot you may need a cold shower I absolutely could not get enough of this I was hooked from the first page great writing job bravo loved it and if anyone is looking a steamy wonderful read then add this one to your list you will not be disappointed, I was not, I loved it
