I'm not sure why this this so low rated - if it's because Carlix is a walking red flag you should have figured that out in the beginning and stopped reading. I have a lot of thoughts on this and I think it was overall very well done.
Let's start with the elephant in the room - Carlix - he's obsessed, had a bad past, could be cruel but did I love him yes. Would I feel that way if he was a real person I was dating, heck no. But this is fiction and we love a walking red flag yandere here. The female main character went through so much and I enjoyed traveling her journey with her, figuring everything out while she was trying to change her life for the better. I love that the story had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't wait to find out how it would end, I considered spoiling it for myself cause I had to know.
I think one of my favorite things this story did that this book probably didn't get enough credit for is the consequences of every action. We see in many stories that bad actions have consequences, but rarely to positive actions have some sort of consequence as well. In this story, towards the end something is revealed to have happened early on in the story to help the protagonist and it is made clear that it is going to have serious effect on her moving forward. So few times in a story like this does the main character have something wonderful happen that changes their life and they get a second chance, but they have to pay something in return for this. I found this to be sad, but refreshing at the same time. I would have loved more from the end, but it was at least a conclusive ending even if I could have read more about their HEA.
