A group of teenagers is attacked outside of the abandoned Northern State Mental Hospital. The only survivor can only mumble the word "zombies!" before slipping into despondence.

In the book, a skilled team of ghost hunters joins forces with federal agents to uncover the mystery behind attacks on trespassers at an abandoned psychiatric hospital by what appears to be zombies.
The climax is particularly thrilling. The story delves into the unknown, explores fear, and examines the resilience of the human psyche. With its gripping plot, well-crafted characters, and an intense atmosphere of dread, the book masterfully blends horror and thriller elements, blurring the line between the living and the dead.

This was an entertaining book with an interesting twist on the typical zombie genre. I liked the reluctant alliance between the federal agents, especially Agent Jeffers, and the psycho-paranormal investigators. The ending was exciting, but I thought the buildup was a little slow and the middle dragged a bit, spending a lot of time investigating the hospital and the shadowy tunnels. If you like zombie or paranormal mystery stories, you'll like this one.
