THE ABLE QUEEN is a historical memoir that follows little Bob Binzer, an eight-year old who climbs trees to watch airplanes take off from Meigs Field and dreams of flying, through the beginning of World War II, his enlistment in the Army Air Corps and the attack on Pearl Harbor, when he finally gets his chance to learn to fly.
What he does not know is that his mission will be in China, flying dangerous cargo over one of the most dangerous air routes in the world - the Himalayan mountains. As a Hump Pilot in the CBI Theatre of War, he faces the dangers and fears of every young combat pilot, narrowly missing mountain tops, diving away from air raids and surviving many narrow escapes.
His luck runs out when he and his crew are forced to bail out of a doomed C-47 transport plane over a remote mountainous area of China populated by headhunters. What will it take for this young pilot from Indiana to survive being lost in the Himalayas?
