Strangers in Love by M. S. Parker is book 4 in The Scottish Billionaires series. This is the story of Aline and Eoin . I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one but I did think you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. Aline is volunteering over in Iran and now just before she was to leave has been taken. Eoin is a ex military man who has taken to helping to rescue /find people. When Eoin is asked to join the mission to rescue Aline he does because there is something about her that draws to him. I have always enjoyed this author's writing and this book added to that enjoyment.

The new story in The Scottish Billionaires is about Eoin. If you read Alec' story, then you will love his brother's story. Eoin McCrae is the rough former military man, that finds his way through a daring rescue mission.

I enjoyed this story about Aline and Eion.......sadly the downside is that this one tended to be rambling on and on about their past lives ..with details that for this reader...did nothing for the characters or the story.... was Like a filler of words to make sure the author reached her word level or something .......
And just when I thought the story was getting somewhere, it was already at the end of the book. SO READERS BEWARE !! .... there is a part 2 to this story .. uggggg... I so dislike cliffhangers or having to read several books to get the whole story...

The jest of the story is Eion is injured and we learn why ..which we knew he was home from and injury in the previous book about Alec and Lumen...... then a character named Aline and her sister Freedom ....their lives are told how they go to teach at a 'Neutral ground type school' and as the sisters have some issues of a very close to overprotective style of family love one is leaving the Hosp. and the other is leaving the school... and ends up getting Kidnapped...
We find that the older sister Freedom was in a relationship with Cain ... who was also mentioned in Alec's book....so somehow Eion gets with Cain and his group to rescue Aline... and of course with all trauma and rescue's the main characters have sex.. and He does not realize she is a Virgin... ???
yet when they get back to the states he lets her go and then they end up together again and then because they never saved or rescued the other people they now go back to Iraq this time and rescue the people as well as get rid of the enemy that Eion was ambushed by... then when they get back to the states he and Aline hook up a gain and the family makes Aline feel as if she has no common sense so she leaves ......... hence Book 2 to find out what happens ............... Giving this 3 stars due to rambling to make book seem longer or to reach a goal of so many words per book .... but is worth a 4 star....if you overlook the rambling :)

Strangers in Love😍

I’m so excited to finally start Eoin’s story and find out more about him and what happened to him❣️
Eoin has left the military and returned to civilian life. After helping his brother Alec, track down his niece with the help of someone and their connections - he’s intrigued when he gets a call a few months later for help from this same person, when an American woman is kidnapped and held for ransom in Iran😳

Aline is trying to make a difference, using her degree to educate those in another country - when she’s kidnapped and held for ransom😢 When she’s rescued she feels a connection to Eoin, something she’s never felt before for any man.

I loved this story as it was fast paced, but also had some entertaining moments and intriguing ones too, which have stirred my interest into some of the other characters already and has me wondering what M.S. Parker has in store for the others. I look forward more of Eoin and Aline❤️ I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and willingly leave my honest review🤩

Eoin, Alec's brother, and Aline - wow.

Eoin is an ex-military man and has seen/experience things that would break other men. Aline is an elementary teacher who is in Iran as a volunteer; as she was leaving the country she is kidnapped.

Freedom, Aline's elder sister, hires her ex-boyfriend to get Aline back and Eoin is approached to join the team that is heading off to Iran.

The storyline is gritty, well thought out, and gripped me from the beginning. The book flows well, the words are wonderfully descriptive and I just want more stories as well as more stories like this from M.S. Parker, please.

This book made me sad not just for the danger and trama Aline and the other’s go through but also at the way her sister and parents treat her. That just broke my heart. Aline finds a great guy that she loves and he does to but her sister doesn’t think Aline is in her right mind to have him, so she runes it for Aline. I cried when the book ended because I hope she finds Eoin again.

Just wow! I’m always impressed with how this author is able to spin a story, tie it to a previous book or series and still hook me in! Cleverly written, it’s filled with action and romance. Strangers in Love has it all. The backstory, the meet up and the excitement.

Although this is not a standalone, I’d definitely recommend this read. It’s hot, filled with emotion and the characters have backbones. What’s not to love!

A fantastic book!

Holy this was an emotional rollercoaster of a read. Eoin and Aline have one crazy story together and seperate. What they both have been thru made them who they are today, they are both stronger because of it, and holy did my heart break for Eoin. Seems these two are lost in life and together that seems to disappear.

This was a captivating read. Strong characters, fast moving plot, and some heat thrown in.
It gripped me from the start and I'm so looking forward to seeing what happens to Eion and Aline in the next book.
Highly recommended!

This one is part one of a serial read so it ends on a cliff hanger. I wasn’t aware so the ending surprised me since it leaves a lot unanswered and the MCs are left separated and with no HEA in sight. Not even a HFN.

I did like the secondary characters, like Eoin’s cousins. I thought I liked Aline’s older sister but her erratic and judgmental attitude towards her little sister was such a crappy thing she did, I don’t think she can redeem herself unless she really apologizes, like on her knees begging forgiveness type apologizing!

Then there is the MCs themselves. Elon has some issues he needs to work through so in this installment, he isn’t in the right mind set to open his heart to Aline. Needless to say, he follows the cliched trope of being a jerk, not once but twice! And both times, he treats his “heroine” like complete trash and isn’t made to apologize.

Aline isn’t much better, to be honest. She lets him trample on her feelings but to show her sister she’s a grown woman, she takes Eion back only to have him do a repeat performance of breaking her. This time because he lets her nosy sister interfere. But honestly he didn’t fight it too hard so, again I find it hard to see how he’ll redeem himself too.

Overall, the MCs were okay but I didn’t warm up to either one and found them a bit too immature for my taste. Others might enjoy this since it looks like the second part might show some emotion growth for both MCs but I needed to see them share more than just insta-lust and treating other like convenient but meaningless lays to want to continue reading.

I read and reviewed a free copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving a review, all thought and opinions are my own.

This series is not my favourite and this book is in the same vein as the first. It is a long book and it takes the first half to introduce the characters. The action is short however and the relationship scenes even shorter. The theme of healing is so important but somehow it doesn’t resonate as well as it should and I cannot believe that someone as heroic as Eoin who professes to be in love with Aline would abandon her like he did. I am hoping the final book will clarify not only Eoin and Aline’s relationship, but also why Freedom is the way she is and what her secret is.

Great start to the second Scottish Billionaire story

Eoin McCrae... brave, loyal, true... great qualities for a badass soldier even better boyfriend material... unless you’ve been damaged, scarred and broken not only physically but emotionally. Losing his best friend in combat has taken its toll and even looking in the mirror reminds him of everything that he’s lost.

Unsure of where life is going take him after leaving the army, he’s lost. This wasn’t the life he’d planned for himself and he’s still riddled with the guilt of not being able to save his unit. Survivors guilt.

That is until his older brother Alec needs his help when his daughter is taken by his ex-partner. With his skills and contacts he helps locate his niece and with the support of his brothers, he manages to get the back. Could this be a new prospect for him? Using everything he’d learnt to help others.

Aline is a recently graduated genius. She’s petite and delicate but only in stature. Her mind is sharp and her wit is quick. But everyone around her sees her as feeble and naive. Constantly being pulled and pushed by her parents and older sister, being allowed to think and act for herself is something she never feels completely able to do.

To prove herself to those that doubt her, she decides to do some aid work in the Middle East by teaching underprivileged children. Alongside her sister Freedom who acts as her interpreter they embark on a short mission through an aid charity.

It all looks safe enough but just before they are due to come home everything falls apart. Alina is captured and held for ransom. She knows her parents have the money to pay the demands, but the other hostages she meets are running out of time.

Eoin is approached by his old friend to help rescue his ex-girlfriends sister and upon seeing the ransom video, something pulls Eoin in and he knows he must do everything he can to save her.

You can already see where this is going... but it’s not entirely predictable. There’s enough to keep you interested and in all honesty, Eoin is just the most beautifully troubled hunk of a man that absolutely steals my heart the more I read about him.

I like Aline too (still not sure if pronouncing that name right but hey ho!). She’s trying to show everyone that she’s not this weak and terrified little girl that doesn’t know her own mind. She’s strong, feisty and brave and Eoin sees that in her. There’s an instant chemistry between them and you can definitely feel it crackle... but it just feels like every time something good starts to happen... something, or rather someone, does their best to drive a wedge between them.

If I have an annoyance it’s Alines sister Freedom. She’s a right royal pain in the arse! She needs a damn good slap and the stock removing from her ramrod straight backside. Far too domineering, far too possessive and maybe even a little jealous. Aline is never going to find any happiness with her breathing down her neck and passing judgement on ever that she tries to do. She really needs to just back off and let Aline live her life.

Great start... loving Eoin... looking forward to starting book 2.

Eoin is discharged from the Army with mental and physical scars. Aline has just graduated with her Masters degree. Aline and her over-protective sister, Freedom, go to Iran to teach with a volunteer organization. Most of their trip is productive. In their last week, Freedom is rushed to the hospital to have an emergency appendectomy. Aline is confident in her abilities to finish the week teaching and organize their belongings to go home. There is one fly in the ointment, Serle. Serle is a creepy, pushy pain. Aline is kidnapped by armed men. Eoin is contacted by Cain to join his team to go rescue Aline. Eoin is drawn to Aline from watching her ransom video. Eoin rescues Aline and they spend a hot and steamy night in the hotel room before they have to leave Iran. They meet up again after they get back to LA and have another steamy night. Cain calls Eoin in the early am to leave to go to Iraq to get the other hostages which are being held by the group behind the attack that injured him and killed his friends. Eoin is rude and callous to Aline when he leaves. Aline is upset but when the hostages are rescued she talks to one of the hostages she was detained with. She discovers that it was Eoin and his group that went in and got the rest of the hostages and she forgives him. Eoin contacts her and they go on a real date. When he brings her back to her parents home they have another steamy night. This time Freedom catches Eoin and summarily dismisses him. Aline is hurt and so over being coddled by her over protective parents and sister. She packs a bag and leaves. The book ends here with the rest of Eoin and Aline's story in the second book. I can't wait to read the second book in the duet. I usually hate these types of cliff hangers in books but I think there is a lot more to tell in Eoin and Aline's love story.

Great start to what I’m hoping will be a fantastic story.
The author has a way of making you really have feelings for the characters, even if those are feelings of frustration (Freedom!)
I really enjoyed the slow build up to the main characters Eoin and Aline meeting by travelling through what had gotten them to this point. Lots of stories bring scarred, emotionally damaged characters in but don’t always give lots of back story, this isn’t the case here at all and there is lots of time to engage and understand what’s happened to build the personalities and quirks of the couple.

Eoin is mainly troubled by losing his best friend in an explosion which left him scarred physically and left with feelings of guilt as he believes his friend only joined the army to give Eoin some direction in his life.
Aline is coddled by her family and starting to feel crushed under the weight of it, though she really does allow herself to be a complete walk over through much of this story - I’m very much hoping she gets some guts and Eoin gets his head out of his butt in the next book?

Then Aline is kidnapped and the story really begins.

Turns out Freedom has an ex who has put together a team to rescue Aline. Cain is someone Eoin has worked with before and they work well together with 3 others to retrieve Aline from her captors.
Since seeing Aline in the ransom film Eoin battles the strong feelings he has, these prove impossible to ignore once he actually meets her and his feelings only get stronger, which worries him.
Aline is desperately searching for her independence and dealing with her feelings for Eoin.

And I desperately want to know what is up with Freedom....and if the other members of the team (Cain...) get their own stories eventually too

✴️✴️ONE UNPARALLELED WILD RIDE✴️✴️
Hatching hellhounds! Parker delivers with turbulent emotional rollercoaster, breaking out the heavy artillery locked and loaded and ammo aplenty, pulling those heartstrings and keeping it real, holding you prisoner from start to finish jetting this bad boy to staggering heights. Entwined, combined and tightly woven showcasing the soaring ups and agonizing downs, breathtaking in it's simplicity and beautiful in it's strength, secrets confessed, revelations unmasked and promises made, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never anticipated, melding this jewel together flawlessly. Trapped in a nightmare full of riveting drama, gripping intrigue, underlying threats, cruel brutality, sinister schemes, callous atrocities, spiraling danger, escalating suspense and nailbiting situations, putting our characters through their paces, kicking this jewel into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination, making for one block busting masterpiece,. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Remarkable job Parker, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.

Great books-aside from the horrible fact checking

The first three books I ignored that they were in Seattle and she kept saying DCFS. Rarely do you ever hear that, maybe more recently they have added that terminology, since i know that there is now an office in King County for DCFS, but they still say DSHS/CPS. But it has always been DSHS (Dept of Social & Health Services) and CPS (Child Protective Services. I worked for the State of Washington and my dad retired from DSHS, and DCFS just isn’t used when talking about child welfare, foster homes etc. Having friends that have fostered and later adopted through the system, it was a little hard to ignore.

This time she REALLY went out there saying that in Iraq while on tour guys would get passes to go off base to go hit bars and pick up women. Um no. That would NEVER happen. Also, there aren’t any bars for them to go visit! I even second guessed myself and double checked with my husband, he’s been in the Army for almost 36yrs now, and he just started laughing.

There is also no “maximum height” in the Army. Eoin is six and a half feet tall. Which he mentions is a couple inches below the “maximum height” the Army allows. I’ve met plenty of guys that are taller than that, even one of the Generals is 6’10”. Now that did exclude him from going to certain schools, but he clearly was able to join the Army and move up in rank.

Still a good read, just wish facts had been checked better so that the little things weren’t so distracting.

5 STARS for Strangers in Love ( The Scottish Billionaires )

ARC received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

M.S. Parker is a new ( to me ) author really enjoyed her writing style. Do note that this book is not a standalone - Book 2 Dangers in Love is coming !!

What I liked about this book :

Cover - great visual of Eoin and the book blurb would make me want to one click
Great characters and secondary characters
Fast moving and very interesting plot
Slight age difference romance
Instant attraction / sizzling chemistry
Real and relatable character issues

This is the story of Eoin McCrae and Aline Mercier. Eoin has spent his years since high school in the army along with his best friend Leo. Stationed in Iraq their squad comes under attack Eion is badly injured and sent stateside / USA to recuperate - however, there is no real healing from the mental anguish of losing his best friend and fellow soldiers. He volunteers to help with a mission to rescue Aline Mercier in Iran where she has been teaching - abducted and kidnapped by mercenaries.

I had a hard time putting this book down ! Really loved the progression of the story line - can’t wait to see where Book 2 takes Eoin and Aline !!

A great well-written story. Eoin is a soldier who survives an attack but loses his childhood friend. Full of guilt, he returns to America where he tries to find another purpose in his life. He will find this at the organization of Cain. With a team of 4 ex-soldiers he carries out missions that are not without danger.

Aline and her sister spent a period in Iran to teach English to young people. On her way to the airport to return home, she is kidnapped for randomness. Her parents can afford this, but her sister also arranges for Cain's team to find her.

If she is saved Aline returns to a hotelroom with Eoin. The adrenaline and a nightmare make Eoin and Aline intimate. But soon after, they have to flee for their lives again. Once back in America, it seems as if the starting romance has died out. Partly because Aline's family is very protective after everything that happens.
Aline knows what she wants but doesn't get a chance to make her own choices and mistakes because her family always treats her like a child and sees her as someone who needs to be protected.
Eoin still has flashbacks to his wartime and the scar on his face, unsure of what people think of him. His actions seem to ruin the chance that his romance with Aline can grow to more.
Exciting. Intense. Full of action

How it turns out? Well, we still have to wait for the sequel

Amazing story!

Aline is a very smart and good person, a little stuborn, with strong will and feisty.
But also innocent and a little naive for her 22 years old.
She is sheltered by her parents and sister, despite her genius IQ, becouse she’s that person that need protection. But she is annoid by their sheltering and set to prove them of her worth and established her need for independence.

Unfortunatelly, the events seem to prove that their need to protect her was the wright choise.
Also, she is rescued and meet Eoin - who prove to be a little more than just his rescuer.
Eoin that have his own burdens and trauma, an man who think that will not deserve hapiness, or a woman, a family.

They can have a future together? Becouse despite their real attraction for each other, are a lot of obstacles in their path.
Aline is meant to scream and Eoin is ment to run and rescue her?

M.S.’s first Scottish Billionaire was a blast!
And this one prove to be the same!
Their story is amazing and it captivate me from the first pages.
I can’t wait to read the second part of their story!

And due to the number of the persons in their extended family, I hope M.S. to write as many as their story as she can! Also, I will love to read about Freedom!

Aline and her sister Freedom are volunteering in Iran when Aline gets kidnapped for ransom. Freedom contacts an old boyfriend that is a former military man for help. Eoin works for Cain and is part of the team sent in to rescue Aline. He is suffering from losing some team mates in a previous mission but he is willing to go on this one. They find and plan an attack to get Aline out safely. However they don't count on her wanting to save the other hostages too. Sparks fly between her and Eoin and its not long before things heat up between them. Once they are back in the states they part ways briefly before running into each other again. Her sister doesn't like her being with him and causes some issues for them. Will Aline let her family interfere in her life? Can they have something together?

This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. This is a well written and very entertaining story. This ends on a cliff hanger just be warned. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This is the second billionaire brother in this series. Alec was first, (and I thoroughly enjoyed his story). This time it’s Eoin’s turn. We first met him when he’d returned from service. He’d been injured but we didn’t know much about his story.
This book begins by going back to Eoin’s time in the army. At the same time, we’re introduced to Aline and her time at Stanford.
Reading Eoin’s story...dramatic, gripping, engrossing, and upsetting at times. I’d been through many tissues by Chapter 10, but it is SO well written and thought provoking.
Eoin’s involvement with Evanne’s kidnap is all there and the introduction to his friend that helped him is where his story crosses over into Aline’s.
Their eventual meeting, the chemistry and pull between them. I can’t praise this book or M.S.Parker enough. On tenterhooks now for the second book now. Absolutely brilliant.

Eoin was a soldier from a large, wealthy Scottish/American family. His military group was ambushed while in Iraq leaving his best friend dead and him emotionally and physically scarred and out of the military.Aline was from an extremely wealthy family and an innocent, genius that graduated from college with her masters at twenty two and then went to Iran to teach underprivileged children with her sister for the summer. When Eoin was called in, to help rescue a former military guys exes baby sister, his world started to heal. The romance between Eoin and Aline is explosive from the very beginning, the two seem to bring out the best in each other even as they seem to let other things still rule their lives at first. Great story with emotional turmoil, danger, family drama, sexual tension, moral and social anxieties and a deep need that is evident from the first between Eoin and Aline.

*Spoilers*

Aline and her sister Freedom volunteer in Iran after graduating from college. Aline, a “young” always cared for (not by choice) by her older sister Freedom, is kidnapped! Freedom enlists her ex-boyfriend who does unsanctioned rescues! Aline is rescued and during the process meets Eoin a member of the rescue team! They connect, miscommunicate, draw assumptions and wrong conclusions...everything needed for a fantastic book! :-)

A terrible confrontation between Freedom and Eoin takes place and Aline is once again fending for her life (to make her own decisions)! Aline “stands up” to her sister, mother and father by leaving! We are left with a cliffhanger and have to patiently wait to see what transpires with Aline and Eoin!

A gripping novel.

This is the story of Eoin & Aline. Eoin was in the Army, but is out now because he was injured. Aline just finished her schooling for being a teacher. They meet under the circumstance of her kidnapping in Iran, where she was for six weeks teaching children. Her sister hired a security firm to try and rescue her. Eoin was on that team. This is a complicated story with each of their backgrounds. The interference and protectiveness in the life of Aline is over the top from her sisters and her parents. Eoin and Aline get together twice before they even go on a date. There is no doubt that there is a definite magnetic attraction between them. Her parents and her sister even interfere with that. She leaves after that by herself, therefore leaving a cliffhanger in her wake. Can’t wait to read the second book to find out what happens between her and Eoin.

EDITOR?

Has this author ever hear about a prequel? The first haft of this book, literally, the first 48%, could have been taken care of with a prequel. With a couple of chapters for Aline back story would had added another star. I browsed thought the first haft; didn’t really start reading until right before they met. If I didn’t wanted to know Eoin story; a wounded soldier finds peace, love and happiness, I would not have finished the book. As much as I liked this book, it could have been much better. It has nothing to do with the story line or even the the writing. It was all the useless pages of stuff.
SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHORS!! PLEASE, hired an editor! Not a friend from across the street, a real editor with no bias that don’t care if they “hurt your feelings” when your told to take something out. The writing will improve with better editing.

Strangers in Love

Eoin has a desperately sad story. To be with your Army mates one minute in a humvee in Iraq to taking shrapnel as he dragged his best friend, Leo to safety only to have the area he set him in get blown away.
I cried for awhile because his story just continued to be rough.
Finally after helping Alec with Evanne and Lumen with Soleil, he wants to help. Private Security.
In this case, Cain, told them they had been hired by Aline's sister, Freedom, after she failed to meet her at the plane.
Aline, was taken, and stored along with many others.
The 5 guys came in and rescued Aline. They promised her they would come back for the others.
Things get squirrelly from there. But also exciting because Eoin carries out over his shoulder.
What happens next?
You HAVE TO READ!

Can't wait to see more of Aline's story and Eoin's story.

10/10++

Eoin is part of the team hired to save the big hearted Aline, who has been kidnapped in another country, where she had been teaching. Aline has never has to face the fear she now faces, she has always been protected, but she is no shrinking violet. All Eoin has ever seen of Aline, was her hostage video, although that was enough for him to want to get close to her. Will Eoin get to save Aline, and possibly steal her heart? I loved romance, with it's sexy Scottish hero (who I have hanging out to hear about, since reading about him, in his brother's book), and the shy but sassy Aline, but I will have to wait for the next book to find out what happens next.

Oh, this book is so good and I enjoyed it immensely! Eoin is a badly injured Iraq war veteran who is having a really hard time reacclimating to civilian life and feeling guilty over the death of his best friend. Aline is a new college graduate who along with her older sister travels to Iran to teach English to children. She gets kidnapped, he joins a group that goes back to rescue her, they have sex, end of story! Not hardly!!! Lots of angst, misunderstandings, and interference from her meddling sister. I personally would have smacked her sister upside the head a couple times. I loved the characters except for Freedom, and the story was gripping. Good romance too. But now I have to read the next book!
