The importance of teaching art and art history to young minds cannot be understated. But what is just as important? Making that teaching FUN! In ArtyFacts, hal evans has put his talent for writing whimsical poetry to the task of bringing new fun and intrigue to learning about some of the most iconic works of art. From works by Monet to da Vinci, Picasso to van Gogh, sing along to the silly songs written for each piece and its artist, set to familiar tunes and filled with fun facts-ArtyFacts!
The author himself sold me on this book at a book festival today. It's a cute way for children (or anyone) to learn about famous artists and works of art through silly poems set to children's tunes.
Who knows? Maybe 8 years from now, as my son learns about Picasso in art class he'll sing to himself and giggle: "Ol' Picasso painted form: ear, eye, ear, eye, nose!"
⚫️ArtyFacts by Hal Evans, a fantastic poem accompanied by beautiful illustrations that explains the world of art to the kids and makes it easy and fun for them to learn. Evan’s book is unlike any other as the reality is that this book is actually an interactive poem using art and art history as its focus.
This is where a brilliant idea comes in, kids love to sing songs and Evan got it right when he composed meaningful songs using children’s most recognised tunes and placing the interesting pieces along with the painting. Most of the time kids want to experiment ‘what if’ and that makes the lyrics beautiful during the song which hold an explanation per the kids want to know what it means. Every child is a great singer and Evans proved that with his reverse alphanumeric order that he came up with for Monny’s exquisite landscape paintings as well as for van Goughs nonlinear paintings, one may envisage a great masterpiece unfolding before ones eyes. With the help of silly rhymes describing Da Vinci and his famous painting Mona Lisa alongside a cheerful some about Picasso and his collage of shapes known as ArtyFacts, children can now find educational joy in every song.
⚫️According to Evans, it is salient that children do not only memorize important information concerning the art and its history, but also cultivate interest towards creativity and expression entertaining themselves in the process. This book supports my contention in the first two copies about the power of music and rhyme in the text that children will be able to appreciate it, while the two copies will guarantee that children will enjoy the process of finding new artists and their work.
Overall it’s amazing and is highly recommended ✨❤️
