Renee O’Malley has gotten very good at using assumed names, living on the run, and hiding from people who want her dead. When Shiloh Boudreau drops everything to follow a lead on the missing woman, he runs into one itty-bitty problem—she refuses to stay found. With her past rapidly closing in, can Shiloh keep her safe without losing his heart?
USA TODAY Bestselling author Kathy Ivan can’t remember a time when books and reading weren’t a part of my daily life. I was blessed with a mother who instilled the love of reading in me at a young age. That progressed into a passion for the written word in all forms, which led to my writing. Every day I have new stories and new ideas roaming through my brain, the characters chomping at the bit for their turn to be front and center and have their story told. Today that love of storytelling translates into my desire to write and share my stories with others. I write in many genres, but I’m currently concentrating on romantic suspense and paranormal.
My day job is about as uncreative as it gets. I do medical transcription, spending numerous hours at the computer each day trying to decipher the mumbled, garbled and often unrecognizable words the physicians are dictating, in an effort to make a complete and comprehensive patient record. It’s almost as bad as trying to read their handwriting!
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I’ve lived in various places throughout my youth, from California to Hawaii and back to Florida (Key West), before finally settling in Texas. I make my home outside Dallas, Texas with my spoiled black lab (Missy).
I am a member of Romance Writers of American and the Dallas Area Romance Authors (DARA), where I’m an active member; you can find me at the local meetings each month.
That’s about it off the top of my head. I love talking with other readers and writers, so feel free to contact me.
'We've waited a very long time to welcome you home'
Finally! It has seemed like a long search (through a lot of the Texas Boudreau books) but Shiloh finally catches up with Renee. It's an explosive meet and Shiloh catches a glimpse of the spitfire hidden behind the fear. As usual you don't get one Boudreau without getting them all, but Renee is family and that makes her theirs to protect, to welcome, to love....and maybe to overwhelm. Lucas and Renee finally reuniting is beautiful and will bring a tear to your eye...he has searched for so long. Every visit to the Big House is a welcoming one, I love Miss Patti especially when she is all fired up like a mama bear protecting her cubs...cubs that are at least a foot taller and broader than her, and protectors themselves too. Chance is already hooked by Tina in this book and I am sure there will be fireworks as I expect her to fight him tooth and nail. Every. Step. Of. The. Way! Book 8, Chance is out in June. I really enjoy this series and I am very glad there are so many siblings...lots more books to come!
omg .... so good ... I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I got this book the day it came out with a few others and forgot about it. Chance's book comes out and I go to put it with the others and suddenly realise I had not read it.
Renee and Shiloh are such a cute couple and the storyline is different enough to keep things interesting.
If there were more than 5 stars this book would get it
Shiloh is the seventh book in Kathy Ivan’s Texas Boudreau Brotherhood. In this book we meet an intriguing redhead, Renee O’Malley and Shiloh Boudreau, a private investigator. Camilla Rene is Lucas’ long-lost sister. They were separated when she was four years old. Lucas and the Boudreau family have searched for her for years. Shiloh agrees to help his brother, Lucas, find Renee and heads to Portland, Oregon. Renee is on the run keeping ahead of Darius and Eileen Black. Will Shiloh discover who is pursuing Renee? Will they find out why it happened? Will Shiloh and Renee acknowledge their growing attraction? Will they find happiness? You must read this book to discover their story.
I enjoyed the way Ms. Ivan creates her characters. They are multi-layered. I appreciate how she reveals their dreams, strengths, and vulnerabilities. She allows readers to journey along with her characters as they work out their fears and challenges. I am fascinated how Ms. Ivan includes different brothers into her plot. Doing so allows readers to get to know each of the Boudreau brothers and appreciate this tight knit family. Ms. Ivan masterfully created a two-prong character-driven plot. One prong focuses on Renee and the mystery behind who is tracking her. The second prong focuses on Shiloh and his growing feelings for Renee. Ms. Ivan brilliantly weaves these two prongs together to create this suspenseful romantic plot.
I also appreciated Ms. Ivan's use of literary devices such as point of view, dialog, backstory, and descriptive language. Through the dialog and their internal dialog readers are provided an opportunity to get to know them better, to understand their personalities and to get their backstories. I also appreciated the way Ms. Ivan differentiated between the dialog between characters and the internal dialog by offsetting the text in italics. I also thought it was interesting how she depicted text conversations between Heath and his family.
I was intrigued with the way she used point of view. She shifts between third person point of view and a dual point of view approach. The third person point of view provides the backstories. In this story, particularly, we learn more about the secret life with the Blacks. We also witness how both Shiloh and Renee’s characters evolve. In so doing this, she endears with her readers. Additionally, Ms. Ivan's use of descriptive language vivid and realistic scenes. If you want to read a suspense romance, then you should read this one. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. Well done, Ms. Ivan!
Overall Amanda rating: A So there is just a few things that I think could use the smallest amount of improvement. The end/climax part of the book always seems rushed to me. The rest of the book whether being on the run or whatever is set at one pace and the end is just “done.” The powerful bad guys are easily caught before anything really awful happens. The only other thing that I think could be improved is the previous characters having more of a purpose other than “sitting chatting nearby current character.” But those are just tiny things that don’t ruin the books for me.
This book was well written. Shiloh has been looking for this girl Renee and she always escapes him. She is the long lost sister of one of his brothers. While at first he is helping out his brother, she beguiles him. Renee is on the run, scared that her past is going to catch her. She is smart and savvy.
Mama B is still probably my favorite secondary character. Nica is a close second. I also love the way that Papa B is portrayed. Strong and silent.
Renee and Lucas were separated after their parents death. Lucas acted out so badly he wss referred to the Boudreau's. After Ms Pat and Douglas found out about Renee they tried to find her so the siblings could be reunited. After 20 years they had a credible clue. But she was gone by the time they got there she was gone. While Heath was talking about his co league though she might be a girl he knew in Portland. He had her picture she looked so much like Lucas, Heath thought it must be her. Lucas was in the middle of a story. He ask Shiloh if he could check it out. Shiloh was on the next plane. This was again a very good story. I love the characters and the family ties. Looking forward to the next book
I've really enjoyed reading this series of stories. I love the closeness in the family and how the author discusses family in her writing. I also appreciate these are clean stories. This particular story was enjoyable because the MCs had so much compassion for victims. I love how fanciful the story was in some places, too. Like you know it's not going to happen in real life, but it's fun to imagine the "what if." If you enjoy clean romance and action, you should check out this series.
Shiloh: WOW! An amazing story! Fantastic writing and dialog. I.loved how Shiloh would do anything to find Renee after all this time of her being taken from Lucas life. None of the Boudreau would give up look for her. She thought Shiloh was a bad guy but when her friend told her about him, Renee was tired of running and wanted to find who he really was. It was a truly wonderful story of challenges and love.
Terrific read from an amazing author as another Boudreau brother finds love. The story line is filled with suspense, fear, and guilt along with relief and growing attraction. The characters have strong family bonds as they come together to save lives. Love this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book; all opinions expressed are my own.
I am loving this family! Just the right ratio of suspense to romance. And what sweet romance! You'd think Renne would be more bitter, less ready to fall for Shiloh but he's irresistible, right? Another hard to put down book about the Boudreau crafted family.
The only reason I'm not giving this book 5 stars is because of the poor editing. There are some typos, and right around the middle of the book the POV abruptly changes. It doesn't really make it hard to understand, but it stuck out like a sore thumb. Otherwise this book is an intriguing and exciting edition to the Boudreau series.
The story is very well written! I was eager to read more each evening as the book was so exciting and filled with adventure plus a sweet romance. It was the best of the Boudreau’s stories that I’ve read so far. They are all very good reads, but this book was the most exciting! I loved it.
I loved this great story. Finally Lucas biological sister is found by one of his brothers, Shiloh. We get to follow why she’s on the the run and hard to find. A great love story, bad shit happens and love conquers all. You must read this one
Another great read!! Even though there were several type's it was still a good story. Enjoyed catching up with the rest of TBE family and can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the family.
Shiloh was trying to find their sister, every time he got close she disappeared. Some one wanted her dead. Who that was he didn’t know. Follow the chase to Texas and the home where he grew up.
Renee is finally home. Been waiting for her to be brought home. Shiloh has been looking & can't stop. When he meets her he can't help but keep her close. Attraction shimmers as they find their way home & eliminate the threat.
This book Follows Shiloh and how he finds love and also you will get to learn more about his past in this book.. I enjoyed this book a lot and i am looking forward to book 8 that follows Chance in the series.. Each book follows a different brother in the series..
