Approximately 75 percent of your total immune cells are found in your gut. Most chronic diseases actually begin in the gut. Part way in, I felt pretty discouraged that I wouldn't be able to do the diet changes, and I already eat very healthfully. But by the end, a bigger picture was presented that seemed less daunting. I look forward to repairing my gut!
If you are working on improving your health, I suggest you read this book. If you are dealing with gut issues, you will find lots of good information. If your health concerns are not in this area, you can still benefit from reading the book. One interesting fact I learned is that we are probably treating symptoms and not the root cause. I suggest reading the book all the way through and then working through the information, applying what you learn.
Another great book on my health journey, he does seem to repeat key topics thru out the book. He provides lots of good helpful information on how and what to eat instead of talking around it. Fiber comes up again as a important aspect of gut health but overall health in general, I need more fiber.
Lots of good information here, but the recipe portion is a little lacking. I would have liked a more detailed list of foods that are gut friendly and those that aren't, at the end of the book, so it's easier to find. Overall, a good read, though.
I strongly doubt the validity of his methods. He did bring up some things that led me to research though, even if my research led further and further away from his claims.
This book was so interesting and full of good information. I got this from the library, but I'm going to buy it so I can reread all of good food lists. I'm so excited to have a healthy gut.
