Running a private eye firm in Firefly Bay would be so much easier if I didn't have a dozen elderly ghosts dogging my every step.
All I really want is to solve my cases, enjoy my coffee in peace, date super-hot cop Captain Cowboy Hot Pants, or, as he likes to be called, Detective Kade Galloway, and keep my annoyingly loveable family from discovering my ghost whispering secret.
But before I can say café au lait, I have a dead nurse on my hands whose death was no accident, a house overrun with supernatural seniors, a talking cat who has zero appreciation that the diet I put him on is in his own best interests (his furball presents inside my shoes are totally uncalled for), and an intriguing new neighbor who has busted me (more than once) talking to ghosts.
Fingers crossed, I can solve the mystery of why I am suddenly a ghost magnet and convince the dearly departed to move on before I'm carted off in a straight jacket.
I love Audrey and her mysteries and this latest is absolutely awesome! It’s a fun read complete with a gaggle of ghosts, a murder, her talking cat and Captain Cowboy Hot Pants her super hot boyfriend all along for the ride with plenty of laugh out loud moments and tons of twists and turns. It lights up my day to read one of these stories as Audrey is as clumsy as me though I’m not haunted by ghosts! ( I think!!) and is full of intrigue and humour and makes for a great afternoon read!
A great surprise ending is what really makes this story fabulous. The new neighbor guesses her secret, a rogue nurse is killing people and Audrey gets clumsier in this tale. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Okay this one was sweet. I was a little worried there with the addition of Seb, the new neighbor, however I think he’ll be a welcome addition 👍🏾👍🏾
I guessed the culprit 1/2 way through the book but it didn’t take away from the fun. Thor and Bandit are just a menace 😅😅😅 and their hijinks are just as hilarious as the antics Audrey gets up to. The ending was just ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 😍😍😍😍 and Audrey being Audrey and clumsy as ever, made it perfect. 4.5 stars.
☆ WHO GHOST THERE ☆ Ghost Detective Book # 6 ☆ JANE HINCHEY ☆
HINCHEY CINCHES ANOTHER WINNING SHIMMERING TALE!
I think this book has been my favourite Ghost Detective book yet, with not 1, not 2, but multiple mysteries to solve, some small, some major & larger than life & 1 minute but very important to a loved one's health, however I did find a few small issues within the story.
I love the way these books flow, the simplicity of them. They are my Go-To-Palate-Cleanser from my Go-To-Cozy-Queen! A cozy read is great especially during down times or times of bad health (I have the flu atm). You don't need to concentrate as much. This is not a put down, for my this is an added bonus! The cast members are usually fewer in quantity, the books are shorter in length usually under 20 chapters or so or Jane's are. And there's not as much to remember as you do with mass action packed urban fantasy or epic fantasy. Usually the character ration in these 2 forms are ginormous! Its like the difference between eating a heavy ladden 3 cousre meal & having a light salad for lunch. They're light, fresh, crisp & tasty rather than putting you into a food coma (which can be great too)!
Oh and I totally enjoyed all the new characters, the ghosts are so different really unexpected & so many! Oh and especially the new regular, who I believe we're going to see a lot more of, the fabulous Sebastian (Seb) Castle sounds like he'd be everyone's BFF!
I'm glad Ms Hinchey has added some diversity into her incredible cast of white heterosexual regulars (of course there has been diversity in guest appearances). Honestly I don't think its something that would even pop into the authors mind (or even mine B4 today) as most regulars are family members of the leading lady (who herself is Caucasian as is her partner a police officer & his fellow recruits.
Whilst this book has by far been my favourite book of the 8 (including the 2 short story novellas) I did find It a tad too predictable & worked out who the murderer was from the very first moment we met him or her (sorry no spoilers here)! Honselty there's not many cozy's storylines that surprise me, I have been a huge reader of fantasy fiction from a very young age & not much gets past me in books, movie or TV. I always pick who-done-its & usually quite early before major clues are given. And in almost every instant we were re-introduced to the who-done-it character, it confirmed my suspicions.
The past couple of years have been very tough on everyone, including the author with Covid, family problems & health issues & its completely understandable, but one thing I find I'm missing is more of that incredible Hinchey humour. There just hasn't been as many laugh out loud moments like there used to be. Or is it just me? There are small moments here & there & Audrey is still the biggest loveable klutz on the planet which is always good for a giggle, but even Thor, the smart mouthed quick witted British short-haired cat has mild out in his ill mannered ways recently. Well he does cause quite the stink in this book, I think there was a huge missed comedy opportunity here, in particular one scene that could scrape paint off the walls! But I'd love to see more comedic relief from this very funny feline or even the sweet & sensational new comer to the family Bandit (and Girl, did she live up to her namesake in this book)! Gotta keep an eye out on these 2 little ratbags!
Ben is Back Baby! Boy I loved seeing Ben back in full fighting form! He's great for a giggle too, always scaring the Bejesus out of Audrey. Although he has a lot of help here in the form of 12 other ghosts who struggle to communicate with our 'Ghost Whisperer' Audrey other than when the utter a single word "Angel!" What does it mean? It's not what you may think! This ghost's abilities are growing as did his role. Ben's transformation in ways you never thought possible. I loved seeing a bigger role from Benny Boy in this book!
I enjoyed that Amanda the nagging sister-in-law took a back seat in this story. While she does appear, its late in the piece & only in a minimal role (as do all Audrey's family members. Man, that woman is a well-meaning pain in the patootie! But at the same time, she's likeable too. But I'm sure her meddling ways will return, eventually, coz not even alien tape, super glue, rivets, nuts & bolts could hold a 'fixer' lke her down for long! Amanda's always a great story hook, after all most of us have one of those friends/family members who makes us feel self concious & is better at everything she touches & always looks & is so together. Right? This next paragraph is to the readers: If we only ever write about the 'Pros' and not the 'Cons' how can an author ever truly improve their craft? We can all wax lyrical about Jane's talent till the cows come home, seriously she has it in spades & I usually do, after all she's loved all over the world. I'm one of her biggest fans, am glad to call her my friend, one who has been with her from the start of this journey, but if we only blow smoke up her patootie on how extraordinary she is & her writing skills, this gives her no opportunity to improve her tradecraft with constructive criticism on issues that crop up along the way. Every author needs honest & constructive feedback as well as the positive & no one like to write or talk about negatives but they do help if written in the correct context& manner & honest reviews Please review after you read. Can be as short as a line or long, it matter not.
While I loved everything about this book, & its my favourite & yes I understand I have rated many Hinchey books 5☆, there are those 2 small niggly bits that will cause me to mark this one down a notch. I hope book 7 seems my favourite Cozy Queen back to her extraordinary self & spinning out a tale to die for!
I RATE WHO GHOST THERE 4½ ☆ Out Of 5☆!
I highly recommend this book & author. Run out & buy it today. While you're at it, why not check out her other incredible series & stand-alone too. I have & love them all! Happy Reading! Recline & Cosy up with a Cuppa, Blanket & Hinchey Cozy this Winter!
I received an ARC from the author and this is my fair, honest and impartial review as always.
Reviewed By: Jewelz Pederick 🙋♀ ❤ the 🤪 🇦🇺 📖🐛❗ (Bye, Love The Crazy Australian BookWorm)!
Another hysterically fun Ghost Detective book! Audrey is a PI and clumsy. With 12 ghosts following her around and all they can say loudly and in unison is Angel, and a new next door neighbor who is a hunk, and her talking cat, Thor who she put on an unwanted diet so he pukes in her shoes, and Thor's sidekick a female racoon who would like for him, she has her hands full! Plus, she has to keep her neighbor in the dark when she gets caught talking to her best friend, Ben who is a ghost and helps her solve crimes. Add to all that, she is trying to solve the murder of a young assisted living nurse with her boyfriend, Detective Hot Pants (Kade). This book has so many dead-ends and twists and turns while the clumsy Audrey plods through clue after clue and what do these loud obnoxious ghosts following her around have to do with the murder of the nurse. This series is a laugh out loud series that you will love to get involved with! The characters are fun and now with the addition of the new next door hunky neighbor, it's going to be a lot more fun. Can she keep her secret of being able to talk to the animals and ghosts from him? I can't wait to see the next adventure Audrey gets herself into. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Audrey is in the thick of things once again. She has a sexy new neighbor, Thor is on a diet and keeps puking in her shoes, her new case is confusing, and oh yeah, she has twelve ghosts following her around. The ghosts didn't say a word for days, now they keeping yelling "Angel" at her.
Audrey's new case involves a woman killed in what first appears to be a alcohol-related accident. But the woman's mother insists that Molly would never have been driving while drinking. Audrey's boyfriend Detective Kade Galloway is sure the body was moved after the accident, but by whom? When it starts looking like Molly and the twelve ghosts are connected in some way, Audrey is going to have to use all of her and her ghost friend Ben's skills to figure out the cryptic evidence.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Poor Audrey is stuck with a dozen ghosts who can only say, “Angel,” not giving her a clue as to why they’re camped out in her house and following her around town. Even her best friend and ghost himself, Ben, can’t figure out why they’re there. Then, when Detective Kade Galloway, aka Captain Cowboy Hot Pants, asks her to consult on a case, that ghost is nowhere to be found, and Audrey really needs to speak with her.
I loved this book, and I love the entire series. The writing is wonderful, so easy to read and enjoy. The characters are distinct and endearing, and the endings always leaves you feeling good.
It’s as great to watch Audrey and Kade figure out what happened and why, then nail the bad guy as it is to watch their romance grow. Ben is always around to lend a helping hand on the case, and he’s instrumental in this book. Audrey’s new next door neighbor, Seb, added an interesting touch to this book, and lent a hand in solving the case. He’ll likely be a great help to Audrey in the future. Best of all, Thor and Bandit add a touch of silliness that helps to lighten the seriousness of the work that the humans do. Audrey's family makes an appearance in this book, and they're always fun to see. They're in for a surprise at the end of the book.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series. While this book can be read as a standalone, it'll be easier to understand things if you read the series from the beginning.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reaction to reading this book.
Another hilariously brilliant book by Jane Hinchey featuring the clumsiest PI ever, Audrey, her ghostly friend Ben, her long suffering boyfriend Captain Cowboy Hot Pants (AKA Detective Kade Galloway) and Thor and Bandit, the resident pets.
Ever since book 1 when Ben was murdered, Audrey has been able to see the ghosts of people who've left this life in less than ideal circumstances. Having taken over Ben's PI business this can be of some benefit when you are trying to solve their murder. However this time we have a young nurse whose death seems less than natural, but her ghost appears to be missing, while a dozen elderly ghosts have taken up residence in Audrey's home and keep following her around the place, without speaking.
Then we have Thor the overweight cat, who has been put on a diet by the vet, and has taken to showing his displeasure by puking in Audrey's shoes, and Bandit, the super conciliatory Racoon who loooooves Audrey, but is more than willing to assist Thor in his attempts to get more food.
Throw in a new good looking neighbour, who keeps catching Audrey when she's talking with ghostly Ben, Thor and Bandit and you have a recipe for another hilarious Cozy Mystery in this series.
Love this series! There were several times I couldn't stop laughing out loud! In her own words, Audrey is "clumsy" which makes for some hysterical scenes. Thor, her large cat, and Bandit, his sidekick buddy who happens to be a raccoon, are also very funny. The author always has a unique murder situation and the solution is creative, to say the least. I highly recommend this series.
Amazon synopsis: All I really want is to solve my cases, enjoy my coffee in peace, date super-hot cop Captain Cowboy Hot Pants, or, as he likes to be called, Detective Kade Galloway, and keep my annoyingly loveable family from discovering my ghost-whispering secret.
Another day, another murder, another posse following Audrey - wait, what? Nothing in this story is an ordinary day for your ghost detective. Audrey is getting no peace and not enough sleep because a dozen ghosts are following her every move and they can't communicate with her so she can't help them. Add in an accident that could be murder but with no ghost around to talk to Audrey, and she's in serious need of lots of coffee to keep the little grey cells ticking over. Fat-cat Thor's on a diet so you can imagine how well he's behaving, Bandit is her sweetheart self, Kade is as hot and perfect as always, and the new neighbour is a definite upgrade on the evil old witch. The only thing wrong was I wanted to see more of Ben. The motive behind the killing was far more sinister than usual and I liked that Jane has made this story a lot less fluffy in that respect. I did guess the murderer and the motive very early on but it didn't spoil it for me. I hope the neighbour features in the rest of the series because he's a great addition, and I loved the ending. This is my favourite of the series so far.
I love this series! You get a murder, a funny and clumpsy heroine, a love story and crazy acting animals! What more can you ask for?
Audrey needs to solve the mystery of 11 ghosts who are not talking and are following her everywhere and, at the same time find out what happened to a young woman whose ghost is not showing up... She meets a new neighbour who suspects that she is either crazy or talking to ghosts so she must figure out if she can trust him or not. Thor, her cat needs to loose weight and he is not happy about this new diet and acts a bit mischievously with his sidekick Bandit, a cute raccoon. Of course, Kade is by Audrey's side, working to solve the crimes.
I received this book as part of an ARC team and this is my honest review.
Audrey, (Fitz) Fitzgerald runs a detective agency in Firefly Bay and with the help of her ghost friend, Ben and boyfriend, Detective Kade Galloway, her detective skills are developing well. But with a houseful of ghosts, none of whom speak, Thor, a fat cat who needs to be on a diet, a lovable raccoon named Bandit, and with a tendency to fall and injure herself constantly, her nerves are shot. When a young woman dies in an automobile accident, her mother hires Fitz claiming her daughter was murdered and wants Fitz to prove it. I love, klutzy Audrey, her entourage of talking pets, a best friend who is a ghost, a hot boyfriend, and an ability to solves crimes despite her lack of experience. I love this series. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.
Oh, the story starts out with a doozy of a situation!! Why does Kade call Aubrey so early in the morning? Who or what is Angel? Who are Molly and Sebastian? Oh lord help Aubrey when the doorbell rings!! Who are Joan and Nick? Wow, there were some seriously twisted twists in this story! Half way through and I still had no inkling as to who-dun-it. Oh goodness, so many different things were happening throughout this story that my brain kept spinning. From ghosts, to Thor and Bandit, and a new neighbor...wow, I loved the story! Enjoy the read!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
Another fantastic instalment in Jane Hinchey's Ghost Detective series! This time Audrey investigates the death of a young care assistant , who died in a car crash, but her mother is not convinced she drove herself. Neither is Detective Kade Galloway, Audrey's hunky boyfriend. There are also 12 ghosts following her around and only shouting Angel at Audrey. 2 mysteries to uncover. Enter Seb , the Adonis moving in next door, well, that could be interesting? Expect the usual caffeinated adventures of Audrey, plenty of mishaps and laughter along the way and of course , there are also Thor and Bandit. The greedy cat and raccoon duo are up to no good, as always... A highly enjoyable book that unfortunately was over too soon, but the lovely and not unexpected surprise at the end was just the icing on the cake! Cannot wait for more!!!
Hold on tight because this is a wild ride right out of the gate. There's no slow buildup; you are instantly thrown into the craziness that is Audrey's life and it doesn't end. Just when she doesn't think her life can get anymore exciting the world proves her wrong, and we are lucky enough to follow her around like one of her ghosts.
I feel like all my reviews of this series are beginning to sound the same, but each book is a masterpiece of humor and mayhem. I don't really know what else to say other than everyone should be reading them (make sure you start with book 1). The characters are super fun, the mysteries are full of twists, and each adventure is better than the last. I can't recommend these books enough.
Quick, easy to read, fun - sums up the Ghost Detective series. Who Ghost There was such a fun read. I love how Audrey always has ghostly visitors, and there are plenty of mysteries for her to solve. Audrey's new neighbour was an excellend addition to the story, I hope he hangs around for a while. Thor and Bandit Audrey's talking pets add so much humour. I love how excited the animals are to see Detective Galloway everytime he arrives at Audreys. And then of course there is the fact Audrey has 12 ghosts following her who can say nothing by Angel, and has been hired to find the killer of a young nurse. Seems like they are connected.
OK, first off, this is the sixth book in the series, and I have to say it’s probably the best so far even if I tend to say that every time. Audrey is her usual adorable, clumsy self and we are introduced to a new character Seb. I think I’m really going to like him. Not only that, but we also get an interesting murder mystery, some hilarious scenes, and a huge surprise at the end! I laughed out loud in several places especially at Bandit and Thor; they are so cute and funny. I love this light-hearted series, and I can’t wait to read more. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Read books in order!!! Hey, couldn’t put it down. I stayed up until 1:30 I had to finish it! This was a very twisted, adventure. The allies were very sparing with Information, friends were loyal as usual, hidden frenemies, a few hidden Enemies. I really enjoyed how Ben has become more excepted as a “silent partner” With” Cowboy Hotpants.” That he is more open to Ben’s special talents with electronics. That it got the dots connected much faster and connected with seemingly irreverent Information. Cant wait for the next one, I love the very ending, was the perfect ending. To rid the shadows of the senseless death of the innocent young women .
This was a fun continuation to the Ghost Detective Series. It was cool to see Audrey have to interact with a bunch of ghosts, instead of just one. Her clumsiness was as entertaining as usual. It was funny to see Thor try to deal with being on a diet. The pacing was decent. The new characters were interesting. There were enough suspects to keep you wondering who was the culprit. The motive was different and interesting. There was a development at the end of the story that will definitely make you curious to see what happens next. I am voluntarily reviewing this book, gifted to me by the author with no obligation.
Who Ghost There is the sixth book in the Ghost Detective series by Jane Hinchey.
Audrey has her hands full with a dozen non-communicative ghosts, a new neighbor, and a new case.
I really enjoy this series. It’s been fun seeing how Audrey’s life has changed throughout the series. Thor is funny and I love Bandit. It’s cute how she calls Audrey mom and her honesty adds a lot of humor. The mystery was interesting and I like how Audrey and Galloway can cooperate when working on the same case. Very few books make me laugh out loud as much as this one did.
I didn’t see the ending coming and I cannot wait for the next book!
I love this series. I adore Audrey and her animals. I love that the hot cop boyfriend doesn't constantly do the "stay out of my investigation"; he understands her and what she can and does do. I was prepared to remove a star for this book because I found the plot somewhat disturbing .... unpleasant. I really can't say why, but I just did not like where this story was going. But then we reached the end and I'm grinning like an idiot and tearing up. When characters mean that much to me, I can't give anything less than 5 stars.
Audrey has twelve new ghosts hanging around but they aren't talking or giving her any clues who they are or why they're here. Then her boyfriend calls her about a car accident that he doesn't think was an accident and the victim's mother hires her to investigate. She has a new neighbor and he always seems to catch her talking to Ben. Then there's Thor and Bandit, Thor has taken to vomitting in her shoes. So Audrey has her hands full. The mystery in well plotted and fast paced and I love the characters.
I love this series it's so much fun to read and this one I think is my favourite so far, it's the sixth book series, and as you would expect Audrey is her usual clumsy, funny and adorable self but in this book, there's someone new Seb and an interesting murder mystery. As I've come to expect from Audrey the story is fun and has some hilarious scenes that had me laughing out loud at times I love Bandit and Thor but I bet everyone does they're so adorably amusing.
This is becoming my go-to series when I want to lighten my mood.
Audrey is back with her usual cast of characters, and about 12 unexpected ones. As a private eye (that can see and speak with ghosts) who is dating a police detective, she is not surprised to be called to the scene of an accident. That is how it usually works when Cade, her boyfriend asks for help. Ghosts can really help move a police inquiry along. Audrey is a little distracted by these 12 ghosts and figuring out how to get rid of them. This is as always a laugh out loud, enjoyable read. I would give it more stars if that was possible.
Ok, this is another excellent book in this series. I didn't think I could like it more, and yet here we are! Can you imaging having 12 senior ghosts take up residency with you but not be able to speak? And a murder to solve on top of that. And Audrey gets a new neighbor!! I can't wait to see him evolve, I think he is a fantastic addition. And of course, you can't forget Audrey's clumsiness, which I can relate to so well. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. I can't wait for the next one in the series!!!
Hired to uncover the truth behind what seemed not an accident, Audrey was kept very busy rounded by ghosts, not the chatting ones, that she didn’t know how to help. Liked the investigations and how Audrey, clumsy as ever, and Galloway keep themselves searching for clues and tying ends. Interesting and funny the mystery around the pets and good that she there’s a new character and not of the nosy and dangerous kind. Ghosts, ghosts, and more ghosts, naughty pets, a charming neighbor, a murder, lot of possible culprits, romance and a surprise. Enjoy this clumsy girl adventures.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. I love these so much that I couldn't put it down; read in one sitting! Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Audrey and her furry companions, Thor and Bandit had me laughing out loud. This series is so much fun to read! Poor Audrey is dealing with a lot this time. Ghosts that won't communicate, a murder that almost gets filed as an accident, and a bunch of suspects. Thor is on a diet, and you can imagine how well that is working out LOL.. a challenge if your cat is normal, but a talking cat who can voice his opinion is a nightmare hahah. A surprise near the end that had all the feels. I'm hooked on this series, and snap them up as soon as they hit KU.
not just a single ghost but a whole choir of them - either silent, or chanting a single word.
are they related to the new death in town?
a witty and good looking new neighbor observes Audrey talking to spirits - a lot. will he have a clue? will she? or are rumors about to spread that Audrey is a fruit loop?
what is the mystery cause behind the cat indigestion? how many shoes or other items can one cat destroy? (you cannot handle that truth!)
gun, reflective and insightful drama, tragedy, friendships of many varieties, and humor
This series is just the bomb. Jane has the wonderful ability to write books that will hold your attention, are fun where you're bound to get a few laughs but also have you on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen next. There is nothing not to love about this book, with captain hot pants, a talking cat and raccoon and I'm beginning to think the worlds most clumsiest PI but that's what I love about these books. You'll have to read this book to find out what I mean your bound to love this Cozy Mystery.
