Seen by few living, Alpha Killian Desmond is whispered about throughout the world, his cruel reputation proven countless times. The Ferocity of this man and his pack have been the source of many legends and nightmares. Most who have met him, have died at his hands. Claire Miller has lived a simple life as the daughter of the Beta in her pack. With a will like none other, she refuses to conform to the submissive roles the females in her pack fill. Uninterested in finding a mate, she avoids the constant advances of the unmated males in her pack and seeks to make her own way in life. As the Moon Ball approaches, and every pack in the United States gathers to meet, the sense of dread building inside of her grows. What will happen when Claire is thrown into the arms of the most ferocious and cruel Alpha known to man? Will she prove to be the exception to his malicious ways? Or will she suffer the same fate as countless others?
This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I’m really enjoying them! Some spelling errors and problems with continuity in characters names, but a good read nonetheless
To start with, it’s very expensive to read this book. I read it on GoodNovel. This could have been a great book but unfortunately it fell flat. Here’s what I thought and you don’t have to agree/disagree with me but since I paid for it, I should have gotten my money’s worth which I didn’t. Here’s my Nz $25 worth opinion:
Like most werewolf books this book has a very similar plot. There’s notes of caution before a chapter “mature content” but there’s no such content and in chapters that do need warnings there’s none. Too much repetition of P0Vs. Alpha Killian is said to be the most feared but there’s no graphic scenes of his very violent reputation. Claire is boasted to have a will of her own and strong but through out the book she’s either over powered or indulging in self harm or being sort to be murdered then is rescued and miraculously survives…The entire book is focused on Claire and not Alpha Killian as the title suggests. The back story of Alpha Killian is never told in detail just lightly mentioned. Also a new character is introduced with the same name as Claire’s younger sister which is very confusing at first and not much back story is provided as well. There’s numerous spelling mistakes and the name of Claire’s wolf keeps changing 🤦♀️ Some chapters are very slow and some are just rushed. Overall, the only thing that kept my interest was finding out about Claire’s past and even that wasn’t written well. There should have been a hunters POV as well so we could understand their reasons too. The plot is weak but this could have a really really good book if it was edited well.
I started reading Alpha Killian by Jane Doe almost a year ago while I was in the middle of reading Alpha Asher. In the book, there was a mention of Alpha Killian being his dad. It also mentions how the start of Killian’s relationship with his mate, Asher’s mom, was turbulent, at best.
This got me curious. At the time, Alpha Asher was probably only 70+ chapters in and I was already catching up with the author. Since I hate having to wait for chapters to get written I checked out Alpha Killian and, lo and behold, it was a completed story with 40+ chapters only!
To say I was excited to start reading was an understatement. It gave me a reason to put down Alpha Asher and pick up a new book still in the same “world”. In my mind, I thought of it as a prequel.
In the story, Alpha Killian Desmond is supposed to be this big bad wolf that everyone feared and no one wanted to meet. So you can just imagine Claire Miller’s fear upon learning that Killian is her mate!
And yet, with her he is gentle. It goes counter to everything she has heard about him and Killian is desperate to show her what a great mate he could be. Sigh, the power of the mate bond.
Claire’s fear of Killian is based purely on reputation and at the beginning, she was not convinced that she was safe with him, to the point of attempting to run away.
I enjoyed this story because:
It was only 44 chapters long, which meant that Jane Doe tried to tell the entire story quickly without compromising the quality of the story.
While it is established early on how strong and powerful Killian is, with Claire he starts to change … it reads like a Beauty and the Beast story, actually.
Even though the story begins with Claire’s personality not appearing as strong as I would have wanted her to be, over time she became the Luna she was meant to be.
It’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It made me appreciate Alpha Asher more. Alpha Killian is available for reading on Goodnovel and other reading apps. #BookRecommendations #WerewolfRomance #JaneDoeBooks
I truly, honestly, completely wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!!! I absolutely, I mean ABSOLUTELY, loved it!!! 😍
I truly, absolutely love werewolf stories! I love the thrill of the unknown, and the fact that their way of life comes before everything else. I love the way a mate bond works, how you can try to turn away from true love, but in the end the bond always works things out. Now, don't get me wrong, I would not want to have that in my life personally; but isn't that what makes a novel so truly wonderful, you become someone else in the comforting arms of a wonderful author.
*Possible Spoiler* The main male character seems like a total, well, someone who is completely audacious (for lack of a better word). Supercilious as all get out, and could just be a huge aggravation in the beginning chapter. Give him a chance, it does get better as you read on.

I actually loved this story and got more than I expected from it, the only con is that there are a number of inconsistencies in the plot. Things that are established or depicted at one point are entirely forgotten or contradicted later on. But overall I loved the story and the journey of the characters.
