The Seed of Euforemalta #1

The Deliverer's Destiny

Rate this book
"Sometimes some must die in order for the rest of us to survive."

Ever since the condemned rebelled, the world of Desmond has been shrouded in darkness. Having ripped the throne away from the Creator Himself, King Motch keeps a firm-taloned grip on his subjects, aided by a ruthless, Gifted being known as the Veiled Lady. Families are torn apart as parents are forced to give up their children to be raised by pitiless trainers who groom the children to become brain-washed warriors. All who fight back are dead. In a strict society built on the blood of the people, hope is a rare term.

Yet it is still had.

Against all odds, four lives are entangled. A timid boy brought from another world, a princess warrior on the run, a young soldier haunted by death and duty, and a slave boy with mysterious gifts—they are brought together to fulfill words spoken long ago: that a Deliverer would come and find the Creator's son, who, in turn, would save them all.

Thrown into the fight of their lives, the four must work together to bring about a change in a dark and dangerous world. The mission the Deliverer has been given is a necessary one, a foreseen prophecy spoken of long ago. Therefore, Motch knows they are coming.

And, as we all know, dragons love playing with their prey.

I sensed from the very start that The Deliverer's Destiny was going to be the kind of book where everything pulls together at the end. The moment that dazzles you, that floods the whole story with light. I don't know how I knew, don't ask. Maybe I'm psychic.

I'll admit, I didn't make it through without doubting my intuition. There were parts of this book I did not fully enjoy. The prose felt slightly unpolished and not as thoroughly edited as I'm used to, which led to difficulty for me with connecting with the characters and falling into the story.

Bear in mind, I don't want to run down Sara Jolene's style at all — as a matter of fact, there were many lines in the book that either blew me away with simple pathos or wrung a laugh from me at their pithy brilliance. But I wondered briefly, midway through the book, if my instincts had been wrong and there was no dizzying climactic reveal awaiting me.

I was right first and wrong later. Oh, I was so right. I have no words.

That climax was EVERYTHING. All the connections. All the threads. Everything I was waiting for it to be.

If you asked me in the middle of this book what I would have rated it, my honest answer would have been a three. The last third of the book bleeds everything into a five. Therefore, as star ratings go, I’m overall rating it at a four — and looking forward to book 2.

Content:

Lots of death. No real gore issues, though. Very clean romantic-wise (and while I’m at a good spot to insert it, I DEEPLY appreciated the value of platonic girl/guy friendships being highlighted and stressed – the scene related to this was a favorite moment in the book).

Theology: Some aspects of the God-figure rubbed me oddly, for instance the way whenever "god" was referenced it was lowercase (his pronouns, on the other hand, were always capitalized). Not entirely sure how I feel about the idea of "God" marrying, either, though I accepted it for the sake of the story. The lines between fantasy, allegory, and reality can be muddy sometimes; these are things that just, personally, nagged me. EDIT: The god-figure is not /actually/ God... now things make more sense. ;)

Overall? This is a fast-paced book, a book with complexly intertwined storylines, and a book with heart. The characters can’t help growing on you over those 600 fast-paced pages (I would die for them now). It’s a book that blends dystopia, high fantasy, and world-hopping; a book of layering connections and mistakes, inner growth, and little wholesome moments that made me squeal (!!!) .

And who doesn’t like some riddling prophecies every once in a while?

I love this book. When I started reading it for the first time (it was on rewrite 3 or 4, around 3 years ago), it pulled me in almost immediately. I would have rated it 4-5 stars without a thought. Now, a few years and a lot of editing later, it's somehow even better than it was, and it's a solid 5-star.

I may be biased (and I probably am), but it's an incredible book. The characters, worldbuilding, and plotline are all amazing.

If I could sum up the book in a quote, it would be this: “There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

If you want your emotions messed with, you've come to the right place. This book and its characters will steal your heart (and possibly stomp all over it). The plot is fast-paced and full of glorious twists, and the relationships portrayed are some of my favorites in anything I've read. 10/10 worth your time and effort.

This is one of the best books that I have had the pleasure to read in 2021. The author has the gift:
1- The chapters go from one character to another but are not too lengthy that you forget what happened with the character in question, in the previous chapter that was reserved to him/her or the couple. This is rare as even seasoned writers often make the error of writing long chapters between characters that force the reader to come back to the previous chapter and lose interest in the book.
2- The plot is well written and imagined with the characters so realistic, in a futuristic world, that the reader can sense him or herself on site.
3- The message is powerful and in this period of despair, any message that brings hope is more than welcomed.
4- The writer, in her style of writing, leads the reader to make all types of assertions and the final mystery is something else.
This is a page-turner and there is only one thing that I regret is that the maximum allowable rating is 5 stars as it deserves more.
Definitively 5 STARS

Starts of as a very controlled unhappy people in this world .
Then near the end things start to improve and life in this world appears to get better or does it.
Great characters and a good story and it gets better as the story unravels.

Every writer's debut novel will have a special place in their hearts. The Deliverer's Destiny is the start of an epic adventure that will take both us and the characters years to complete. It's full of action, adventure, and excitement, with dragons and corrupt rulers and heartfelt characters just trying to find their places in a messed up world (or two).

Our main character always has been and always will be Todd Nathaniel Vinson. Follow him, Annabella, Stephanie, Matthew, and many more in this fast-paced, long, epic journey into the unknown... where absolutely nothing is as it seems.

Yes, I am the author, and I am born biased. But I love my characters and my books. If I gave this book anything less than a fire-star rating, I would have failed them all.

Enjoy your journey.

I got this book to read and review or an Advance Review Copy, ARC, and I have to say that this book was a different feel for me when I started it but after reading it from the very beginning to the very end, I was hooked I love the feelings, the journeys and the writing style of this author. I think her characters were very well done and enjoyable. Would read from this author again.

Wow! This book blew me away. I liked that it felt like fantasy and science fiction in one. Loved all the characters, and all their journeys before and after meeting. My favorite was definitely Matthew! Read books 1 and 2, and anxiously awaiting book three. Great writing, especially knowing this is a new author.
