Bosshole

Rate this book
He’s my tormentor, my forbidden temptation, and my boss.

They call Barrett King the “Demon King of Wall Street.” Arrogant, demanding, and the kind of hot that makes girls forget how to talk.

Years ago, he was my older brother’s best friend from the wrong side of the tracks. Then my wealthy family set Barrett up to take the fall for a crime he didn’t commit.

Now, he’s one of the richest, most powerful, and most gorgeous men in New York. He’s also my new boss, and he hasn’t for one second forgotten what my family did to him.

Barrett doesn’t just want me working under him. He wants me working, well, under him. He wants to consume me: body, mind, and soul.

But there’s one thing New York’s most arrogant bachelor—the man with everything—wants that I won’t let him have: my heart.

The only problem is, I’m running out of excuses for why he can’t.

Bosshole is a standalone grumpy/sunshine boss romance with a smart, untamable heroine and an ultra possessive hero. No cliffhanger; HEA included.

A reader first and foremost, Jagger Cole cut his romance writing teeth penning various fan-fiction stories years ago. After deciding to hang up his writing boots, Jagger worked in advertising pretending to be Don Draper. It worked enough to convince a woman way out of his league to marry him, though, which is a total win.

Who doesn't love a alphole!!! And this gal loves some of them lol this novella is fast pace and steamy.

When you first meet Delphine shes having the worst luck every she gets plowed and her outfit is ruined and she accidentally flashes her new boss when she's changing into dry clothes. And that boss use to be her brothers ex best friend Barrett and well he doesn't recognize her but he thinks shes another gold digger and fires her. And when he finds out that's his now enemy younger sister he still has the hots for her but he doesn't trust her. Even if she tells him she has not spoken to her family in 8 years.

Their relationship is hot and cold since they don't know what type of game their playing on top of that all of Barretts clients are living him and fingers point to Delphine... and its not looking pretty between the two. But Delphine isn't giving up... I did wish Barrett would have groveled alittle more lol

What is worse than flashing your new boss?
.

The story wasn't really original but somehow, I found myself interested and hooked. The little comedy bits at the start, the banter, the confrontations...all of it was pretty entertaining. All of it was slightly overplayed, but i didn't mind it at all. I had a good time!

What I liked about Barrett was the fact that he really was acting like an asshole. Too often, heroes are said to be jerks but aren't really? But this one was snarly, growly, moody and arrogant. And I appreciate that the author kept him this way for most of the book. He was somewhat possessive but nothing really over the top (and by that I mean that I've seen worst). He would get moody when Delphine would deny him just to annoy him. He is said to be married to his job and has been celibate for about three years when meeting Delphine

''My work is my wife, my mistress, my girlfriend, my hookup, my friend with benefits…all of them. Pick one or all, that’s my job.''-Barrett

I think Delphine was a pretty solid heroine. She didn't bother me at any time. She is super clumsy, smart and stubborn. She wasn't scared of Barrett and I really liked her scenes with him. Only thing that somewhat bothered me was the fact that Delphine is literally said to be a genius, she got through school at a very young age and her curriculum is very impressive, but we never really see her in action. She was hired by the firm for her skills, but never we really see her use them. I thought that adding a few scenes showcasing her talents could have been nice, and give her character more depth.

''I’ve already wanted to fire her about a dozen times. The problem is, I’ve also wanted to claim her twice that many times.''-Barrett

Something that I think could've improved the plot would have been some flashbacks. The characters know each other from ten years ago, they also speak of events during their teenage years (Delphine crushing on Barrett, Barrett taking the hit for Delphine's half-brother, etc.) We weren't showed, just told about them and I felt a little bit disconnected from their past because of it. A few chapters of flashbacks at the start would have been nice in my opinion, just to set some strong ground to their relationship. The ending was also a bit too rushed for my liking.

“I really have a ton of work to do.”
“That’s unacceptable,” he grunts. I giggle.
“Are you going to fire me for doing work instead of letting you go down on me?”
“It’s crossed my mind.”

Steamy office romance alert! I devoured this in one sitting and almost burned dinner, but oh well.

Delphine has the worst luck on her first day as a junior analyst at the new job but it doesn't stop there. The CEO of the company is her childhood crush, her estranged brother's ex-best friend. Something she's aware of but not prepared for the cold shoulder from Barret. At first, he doesn't even recognize her, when he learns who she is it's even worse and she accidentally flashes him, he thinks she's coming onto him and fires her. All on her first day.
Well, Barret holds a grudge for a reason, Delphine's brother did him dirty but he shouldn't care by now. He's a self-made billionaire but Roland stealing his big clients one by one is becoming a big problem.
Once Barret learns Delphine hasn't even spoken to her family in years cools things down a little and soon he even gives into the insane attraction he feels towards her.

Quick and steamy!

Oh boy, where did this one go wrong? It's a short, steamy, office romance with a feisty heroine and a grouch of a hero. Normally, my ass would be all over that like a bad rash but this time around, it was just meh. It started off interesting but somewhere along the line, the push and pull between the characters (which was obviously supposed to drag me in) just put me off and I started to get bored. I really think this is one of those 'it's not you, it's me' situations because truthfully I can't pinpoint anything bad about the book. It had essentially everything I wanted in a little packed novella. So, yeah, I'm sorry but it's me. I just didn't click with the book.

Loved

This was a great read. I loved Delphine and Barrett together. Their first meeting (or remeeting) was so funny and I liked that he totally didn’t remember/recognize her at first.

It had a bit of a mystery and while some people might have guessed what it was, I didn’t see it coming which is always a nice touch.

Just an all over good read.

I freaking loved this book. I mean I laughed so hard and then I was angry at some points in this book. Barrett is the boss from hell. They call him bosshole because he can be down right mean and nasty to his employees. Then he has hired a new analyst for his business but he does not remember her. She is the half sister of the bastard that ruined his life.

After having an encounter with her he wants her no matter what. But Delphine ain't having none of that and she tries to stay far away from him but she can't. His charm is disarming and his foul mouth turns her on. They start to play a game and only Delphine thinks she is winning but she isn't and when shizz hits the fan and the truth comes out who will be left standing.

BOSSHOLE was a super fast, and super spicy read.

“I kiss Delphine recklessly. I kiss her possessively, like her lips owe me.”

Great little book for when you’re waiting for another instalment to a series to come out. The sexy scenes were HOT, but even though the characters were fleshed out nicely, the storyline is over before it can really begin.

“You’re not my plaything.” I nip at her ear. She gasps, and I feel her p🐱ssy tighten even more around me. “You’re my everything.”

Bossy and steamy

A decade ago she was a nerdy little girl and he was the bad boy ex best friend of her half brother. Today he is a financial king and she's his new analyst. What could go wrong?

So I really love reading romcom's, especially after a bad day. This was one that I couldn't put down. Cormac is a self-made billionaire and Ella is an artist, they are the opposite of each other. The first time they met was in coffee shop and it didn't end well...
Mr. Jagger Cole has written another new favored story i'll read again and again.

I received an ARC from the author to read and my honest review.

Loved it.

Favorite Delphine quote: "He might be a grade-A alpha pr***. But I’ve never wanted anything more in my life."

Favorite Barrett quote: "“No, Delphine,” “You’re not my plaything.” “You’re my everything.”

Delphine has been in love with Barrett since she was a kid. Barrett was her brother's friend until her brother betrayed him. He now has a chip on his shoulder the size of the Brooklyn Bridge. That is, until Delphine walks back into his life and flicks that chip right off setting off fireworks that keep exploding all the way to the end of the story. I read through this one in a few hours because I was reading so fast and it was that good. Could not put it down. It was funny. I laughed out loud a few times to my husband's odd looks. It was also very intense. Sooo worth losing sleep over. I own more romance novels than I can count. Of those, I keep my absolute favorites in a favs folder that I go back to every now and then to reread. I used to have only six books in that folder. Now I have seven. I just discovered Jagger Cole. Absolutely love his writing style. I can't wait to read his other stories.

Funny, sweet, utterly sexy, and exciting. Barrett and Delphine were just too hot for words. I practically devoured this and didn’t put it down until I was done. I started reading it and stayed up into the night to finish it. It touches upon a sensitive subject in the workplace but it's balanced so well with the story and the chemistry that it's not dark. This story will practically have your panties melting right off or you may be rethinking panties in general. Explosive!

Short and steamy with a real jerk for a hero. Not Mr. Cole’s best.

He gets better by the end, but he’s a real jerk. I wouldn’t have put up with any of this man’s crap. No excuses. He’s just...not nice. I accept the bosshole premise. I accept that it’s a well known troupe. But I think he’s more mean and overly defensive than anything else. And it doesn’t really come off as hot to me.

There were a few loose ends barely tied up...the stalker for example.

And I caught quite a few typos. I rarely catch typos.

It’s a good story line and it’s well written and easy to follow, but it not my favorite. There are some seriously sexy scenes. Honestly though? I’d give it a pass unless you’re a diehard Jagger Cole fan. Or you’re killing a bit of time and want something steamy. It’s not a one star read...it doesn’t suck or offend...but it’s not his best.

This is a hot, steamy office romance that had me panting for more. Barrett King is the Devil of Wall Street as he is “affectionately” known in some circles. He is dark, broody and a complete grump as well as the most eligible bachelor. Delphine is hired as a junior financial analyst and she can’t believe she is working for him considering their family’s history. But he doesn’t even recognize her, and she bumped into him more than once, on her first day until she tells him. Twists and turns and a WTH ending kept me on the edge of my seat flipping pages to find out what happened. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!!

I received an ARC and I'm freely reviewing.

So, the title definitely describes Barrett to a T! Haha, but I still love him. Barrett is a nonsense type type of guy that struggled before and will make sure he will not do so again. Delphine is his newest employee but also most hated enemy's little sister. Delphine has been in love from afar with Barrett. The way they argue with each other both fighting so hard against it, the characters are awesome and the story is great!!

Delphine is not having a good day. As she rushes to her first day working at a hedge fund she spills coffee down her skirt. If that is not enough she is covered with snow and sludge from a street snowplow. Can her day get any worse!!! Garrett is known as The Demon King of Wall Street a title that is well earned. After his life is ruined by a friend falsely accusing him of a crime he not only gets kicked out of Harvard but spends 18 months in prison. He fights his way to the top becoming the richest man in New York and he is having a very bad day, make that week when his investors start leaving to go with his competitor. The same man who ruined his life. Now his new hire has spilled coffee all over him and then trips and is now sprawled in front of him on the floor...pantiless. When he finds out that she is the sister of his enemy he is outraged and fires her on the spot. After being assured that she has had no contact with her family in 8 years he rehires Delphine. But now he can't get his head straight. Between investors leaving left and right all he can think of is Delphine and his desire to make her his. When she is implicated as being the reason all his investors are leaving to be with her brother's company he is enraged that he fell for her act.

This is a steamy hot read! I totally loved Delphine and Garrett and their chemistry burns up the pages. I was totally amazed when I discovered that the author is male. Jagger Cole has now made it into one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read the rest of his books! Highly, highly recommend!!!

Steamy Mystery

This was a great, but very steamy, mystery and love story. It starts with Delphine Latreaux getting drenched by a snow plow as she heads for her new job. Helen, the woman who hired her, sees the mishap and offers to let her borrow a skirt from her on-site closet so she wouldn’t be late. The only problem? Her underwear is also drenched, so she is forced to go commando.

She is nervous, as she knew Barrett King, a multi billionaire and the founder of King Equities, when she was younger. He was a friend of her half brother, Roland Simmons, before Roland let Barrett take the fall for drugs that were in the glove box of Roland’s car. Barrett spent 18 months in jail for Roland’s drugs and lost his Harvard scholarship.

Delphine winds up inadvertently flashing Barrett during her first few hours. Thinking she is a plant placed there by Roland, he fires her. However, Helen, one of his most trusted advisers, convinces him to go to her apartment and give her another chance. Expecting her friend who lives across the hall, Delphine, who had just gotten out of the shower, answers the door with only a towel wrapped around her. Shocked when she sees Barrett, she loses the grip on her towel and flashes him for the second time that day.

And so begins this heated story. There are mysteries as Barrett starts losing clients. He wants to blame Delphine, but Helen talks him out of it several times. If you like steamy romance with a hot billionaire and a good mystery, then this is the book for you. I really enjoyed it!

Meh 😬

The h was too eager. I get it, he's her crush for almost a decade, but her character was just too keen for him. I'm having second hand embarrassment from her. For someone who's portrayed as genius, she sure act/speak as dumb sometimes. She wouldn't even call him sir or mr on her first day. I get it she'd known him for a very long time, but still they were in a work environment and she wouldn't even display respect or professionalism. She's UNPROFESSIONAL all throughout the book. I don't know where to find her genius mind.

It's just so repetitive of her to say she wouldn't sleep with him or that she wouldn't be a plaything, but can't say no to him everytime. I guess it's the body betraying syndrome again.

The H was also a misogynist prick, using the "beauty" of the the h to lure the older investors. For someone nicknamed as the devil of wall street, he sure as shit not confident with his reputation alone.

Both characters were unprofessional, it was way too insta-lust. Oh well this is a short story after all.

I love Jagger Cole's other books. But this one didn't do it for me. As always the writing is good. I guess it's just the plot felt a little flat.

Anyway, will be looking forward for his other books.

Pretty steamy details spicing up an otherwise mundane trope...

Jagger Cole has a clever way of steaming up his books. My biggest complaint is with making his female lead character act like such a klutzy doofus nearly everywhere she has to move her feet to change positions! Sure, a few times is funny. Every time she tries to be unobtrusive, name hits/knocks into something, then trips, falls, slams into large to small bodies, and so on. No one, unless they wore myopic glasses, were extremely nearsighted, and suffered constant paralysis in their lower extremities, could possibly, practically on cue for "scene disaster where female lead character falls or plows into someone with a full cup of coffee," be that hopelessly and tragically clumsy! It was way too over the top, and made Delphine look and sound like a moronic klutz. Also, for someone who's supposed to be so genius-like and extremely intelligent, she didn't use her intelligence where it made a difference.

All said and done, the story ended up being cute. I am glad it was less than two hundred pages, otherwise the crashes and ruined clothing would have had me.tossing this book aside. Three stars - as I already mentioned, this Delphine and Barrett were cute, and as insane chemistry.

Bosshole is another very good book from Jagger Cole. Delphine gets a job as a financial analyst at King Equities. At the same company the boss is no other than Barrett King aka the Demon King of Wall Street, an old friend of her half-brother's (before her brother turned him down). Unfortunately, her very first day of work started badly, everything went wrong. Delphine had made a bloomer, after which she was immediately fired. However, all is not lost - in the end and she is reemployed. And this is where the game of love fire begins - but which one would be burned?

I really enjoyed this book, the initial amount of bad luck of the main character in certain situations made me laugh. There is a motive of paths crossing after many years (which I like very much) and when it is served with an addition of the characters teasing each other, to the point where we watch the emerging desire between them - I am delighted. The book has everything you need to have a good time: humor, a little drama, characters who like to tease each other, a hot male hero, a strong female, a sexy vibe - and the cherry on top is the boss-employee relationship. If you like that kind of atmosphere, this is the book for you.

Pearl can't believe that she let her best friend, Dean, talk her into hiring a gay man to pretend to be her boyfriend at her sister's wedding. She is so tired of being pressured by her parents and is determined that her sister has a special day without her parents hounding her about her non-boyfriend status and give all their attention to her sister on her special day. So she goes with her friend to his favorite gay nightclub looking for a non-threatening boyfriend. After all, she won't have to be worried about being hit on. What could possibly go wrong? Gabriel finally agrees to be his brother's wingman just to keep from hearing any more of his nagging. He is absolutely astounded when he is approached with a ridiculous request to pretend to be a stranger's boyfriend for the weekend. Should he mention that he's not gay?

I loved this book. The characters are amazing and Pearl's parents are a hoot. Pearl and Gabriel are both determined that karma is coming to bit them in the butt for their deception. This book is totally hilarious! Highly recommend.

I have not started the new year off right with reading. I have definitely been slacking. But the minute I picked up BOSSHOLE, I couldn’t put it down. I was super excited to have another book by Cole in my hands and flew right through it. It was amazing.

I instantly connected with Delphine. Not that I ever flashed my bare woo-ha to a boss. (Well, unless you count my husband who was my boss for a short time before he put a ring on it.) But bless her heart with all the things that could go wrong and did go wrong. And yet, she handled everything like a pro. She also didn’t put up with a lot of Barrett’s alpha-macho crap. She always gave it right back when his attitude got away from him. And he loved every second of it.

Cole gives us another amazing, scorching hot read!! Cannot wait to see what else he publishes this year. 5 Stars!

Barrett King is not your average financial mogul. He’s got a chip on his shoulder and his new analyst, Delphine, is NOT what he needs. Or is it?

I enjoyed the banter in this one a lot a long with the amount of steam. There’s a certain scene that brought me back to my days of going to see punk shows in dingy clubs.. and I’ll leave it at that.

Delphine also holds her own, she’s extremely smart, sarcastic and basically everything you look for in a heroine who can stand up to the alpha while simultaneously falling for him.

There’s ALWAYS an underlying issue other than the typical with Jagger’s storyline and I think that’s what keeps them interesting. You know what the trope will be off the bat but there’s always something else lurking under the surface too.

Jagger Cole gives us another quick steamy read that is well done. Barrett has exceeded expectations of his rough upbringing and made something of himself after his world imploded. Delphine got out of a world that showed her that money can buy anything good or bad. These two have history, and for Barrett that history isn't cloaked in good...Delphine is trying to do the right thing, and doesn't want the past of her family to influence her own future. There were moments where I hated Barrett, he acted atrociously, and I don't know if I could fugitive him if I was Delphine, but Cole always is able to redeem the hero in a way you didn't expect. Sometimes you just need. a short dirty read, and Jagger Cole is one of the best solutions for that.

For this story, Jagger moves the setting from war or Mafia scenes to Wall Street very successfully! Barrett is from the wrong side of the tracks and was easily set up to take the fall for Roland's drug possession. Roland, with his father's money, has gotten away with much more. Now it seems he's getting away with stealing Barrett's King Equity's clients and investment methods right from his computer system using his half-sister's password on her workstation. Barrett had fallen in love with Delphine, the young girl he remembered so well from his youth with Roland. Great plot with few giveaways until near the end, keeping the pages flying! The sexy play between Barrett and De[phine was over the top.

Barrett King's entire focus is on building and running his "King Equities Company" which has made him a BOSSHOLE. He is totally self-made coming from poverty and betrayal. Through smarts and determination, he is now a billionaire but he's not really happy.
Ten years ago Delphine had a huge crush on this young motorcycle loving boy. He ended up being framed, taking the fall for her brother's drug charges. Now grownup and well-educated Delphine hires on at King Equities. When Delphine and Barrett connect it's like wildfire. They have many ups and downs, but WOW they sure connect physically!!!!!!!! You are going to need a fan reading this hot romance. I read free for an honest review. Linda
