Billionaire Rose West suffers no fools.

Growing up abandoned by her parents and left to the socialite wolves at an all-girl boarding school, Rose learned early on how to survive with a smile, a wink, and cleavage full of cash.

As an oil baroness, a soon-to-be honors graduate from a prestigious university, and a fairly attractive woman — if you’re into big hair and bigger boobs — Rose is poised to take over the world.
Too bad she has no idea what she wants to do with her life.

Hashtag quarterlife crisis.

NASA astronaut Vance Bodaway made a deal with himself a long time ago — be an astronaut, be alone.
After his Army captain father died in action, Vance saw first-hand what losing a husband did to his mother. He promised himself to never put someone he cares about in that situation.
So he keeps his dating life casual and has made peace with not having a family of his own.
Until a feisty blonde with a penchant for glitter and trouble enters his orbit, challenging all his hard-and-fast rules.

Hashtag friends with benefits.

But between Rose’s pole dance classes with Vance’s mom, their hands-free shot contest at the bar, and a run-in with mall security during a Black Friday shopping fiasco, their no-strings-attached booty calls agreement starts to cross emotional stopgaps neither one of them knew they had.

And when a different clock starts ticking, the kind with a “T-minus nine months” countdown, will these two be able to power cycle through their emotional baggage and lift-off into love?

Or will they crash and burn?

It has been a while since I read from Muss Hudson. I remember fondly that I like Space series. It is fun rom com with the characters are from science background. Space Balls is no different. The hero, Vance is a native american astronaut. Ross, well she is a larger than life heroine. She is sassy, smart, independent, not ashamed of her sexual preference.

Most of my likeing is due to Rose. She is a fun character. I wish I can have a friend like her. She lives her life free, fierce and independent. The comedy is also fun. Some of the banter and inner dialog cracks me up.
The sex scenes are hot and sizzle. But not too graphic. Just enough to make the chemistry works between Vance and Rose.

Overall, this is a very enjoyable story.

(audiobook+ebook) Wow it started with a bang. Literally. While we’ve seen Vance and Rose in previous books in the series, they only meet each other for the first time during Jackie and Flynn’s wedding. They sleep together right away, not knowing who the other is. And they keep running into each other–of course, they have common friends. Until they decide to have a friends with benefits relationship.

Both characters were quite interesting. Rose is a twenty one year old billionaire, with money but no purpose. She does whatever she wants at the time, often offending people with her outrageous behavior. It seemed consistent with the young socialite we imagine her to be. But she also cares a lot, and does things for people. Her caring also means she’s critical of herself. She’s more than just a shallow young woman, like many people think. It becomes even more obvious when she discovers she’s pregnant with Vance’s baby.

She has quite an age gap with her romantic interest, who’s in his mid thirties. The fact that Vance is Native American was important for the character. He’s struggled to get where he is–he’s an astronaut. His past has resulted in a fear of commitment that Rose is going to challenge in many ways.

I loved that despite all their differences–of life experience, of maturity, of taste, of family, of struggles…–they get each other. They see what others don’t, go deeper into the other’s personality, even though their relationship is supposed to be of the no strings attached kind. And together, they were fire!

We’re going back to space–at least virtually–with this installment in the series, and the nerd in me liked that a lot. Vance’s work as an astronaut is also an important plot device. It’s the reason why he doesn’t want to commit to someone, even Rose; the reason why he starts the whole friends with benefits thing, since he’s leaving soon on a mission and it’s kind of a deadline for their relationship.

Though I loved a lot of aspects of this book, it felt a little bit off. Rose is definitely over the top, yet she isn’t as funny as she thinks she is, and Vance is way too serious. So despite a couple of absurd situations, this book was less funny than the others, in my opinion. I enjoy serious romances, but I was expecting laughs and I didn’t get them. Not enough, at least.

Not the fault of the narrators. The female narrator gives all her energy to Rose, while the male narrator’s composed voice is perfect for Vance. A very good audiobook, just not the hilarious romcom I was waiting for.

Quickie

- Series: Space #5 (but can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #romcom #space romance #age gap #interracial romance #Native American #surprise pregnancy
- Triggers: past death
- Main couple: Rose West & Vance Bodaway
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + Vance’s Native American family culture
- – what a stupid hangup, Vance

The astronaut and billionaire party girl!

Honestly, Rose was my fav side character from all the previous books in the series, and I’ve been patiently waiting on her book!

When a wedding one-night stand turns into more, Rose West and Vance ‘Bodie’ Bodaway never expected to see each other again. That is until they find out that they their mutual friends means they are a lot closer to each other than they initially realised.

Rose is a carefree, billionaire oil baroness, party girl. Although her over the top personality has people deem her an airhead and underestimate her, she is actually really intelligent and is about to graduate from university with an honour’s degree. She loves her friends and family very much and is a ride or die for them. As all her close friends are getting married/engaged, she is slowly starting to feel lonely. Insert…Vance, the hot astronaut who is 15 years older than her.

From page one, their chemistry was off the charts! This book was funny, the characters, sexy, sassy, and smart.

Both Vance and Rose had personal issues to work through. Rose struggled with abandonment issues after her parent abandoned her, and due to her friends getting married and engaged (though she was happy for them). And due to Vance’s dangerous job, he avoided commitment and family. It was nice seeing them overcome these issues both separately and together.

I also loved how we saw Rose’s growth throughout the book. But she never lost her quintessential carefree-ness.

Overall, I had a great time reading/listening to this book.

Forget the meet cute. This one starts with a holy-Hades-what-the-duck-did-I-just-read cute, and then catches fire from there! You're gonna need the AC set to arctic for this one, but you'll also bust your gut laughing too many times to count. There's a Black Friday shopping scene that may be the most epic thing I’ve ever read in a rom-com. I’m still laughing!

Vance Bodaway and Rose West are the last two people I would have ever see as a couple. They’re at completely different places in their lives, with a fifteen-year age gap, to boot. He's one of NASA's finest, planning his next space mission, with some staunch views on relationships and family. She's a billionaire college student with a heart bigger than her bank account and a propensity for glitter. Seriously, think about glitter on a billionaire scale. And yet, somehow they work, and they work perfectly.

Lest you think it's all fun and games, there's a sweet vulnerability and surprising depth of heart in Vance and Rose's story. This talented, creative storyteller has really topped herself with this ridiculously hysterical, full-of-feels read. This book captivated and enchanted me, me devouring it as it wholly consumed me, and I absolutely could. Not. Put. It. Down!

This series has been great fun, but if the other books were a mission on the international space station, this one is the colonization of Mars. If you’re new to this series or this writer, Vance and Rose's story is the perfect place to start, and you won’t regret a second you spend in these pages. And if you’ve read any of the others, you'll go into orbit over this one. Either way, you need this hilarious, heartfelt, oh-so-satisfying escape in your life, so fly to the 1-Click and start reading today!

A disappointing end - read on KU

I have really enjoyed this series. I believe U read the first one before the second one was out but didn't have to wait long for the 2nd. I have read books 3 and 4 back to back. I know I gave the 1st book 5 stars. I can't remember for sure on the 2nd but I will definitely give book 3 five stars. I might would have enjoyed this one more if I hadn't just read book 3. Book 3 was funny. I had a big smile on my face most of the book. That was just yesterday and my mood hasn't changed. This book is NOT funny. There is one scene shopping that is just a little funny. But mostly, I found Rose to just be over the top.

Rose is 21 and is graduating a semester early. She acts and talks like she's had years of experience with one night stands and such. She talks about a lot of things like she has way more experience than is possible. Vance is 36 and other than having commitment issues, is a great guy. He doesn't look at Rose and think how great she would be if she just chilled a little.

I feel like Mrs. Hudson does probably do an excellent job getting the harder details of books correct but then gets some little things off. In this book, Rose is weaving in and out of traffic in a neighborhood on Thanksgiving day. That just seemed odd because there generally is little traffic around lunchtime on Thanksgiving and generally, you don't have 4 laned roads through neighborhoods. Ugh. I'm being picky.

Anyway, I just felt like most of this book came with a tense feeling of the mismatch of what Rose and Vance were expecting out of the relationship. Over half of the book was spent in that, in a way.

If you have read the other 3, you're going to want to read this one to finish out the series. If you haven't read them all, you should. I have an engineering degree, so I have really loved all of the intelligent, nerdy characters. I've loved the other characters, too, except for Rose. She's just OK. So, I won't try to sway you to not read this but just be aware it isn't nearly as good as the other 3.

Mehish…..
I was wanting Rose to have a book so bad so not sure if my expectations were high but something just missed for me. Still a good read but I never got the umph I was expecting. I found her to be slightly immature and close minded with the not wanting to see his side of things or piece it together especially bc she’s so smart, but then I remembered oh wait she’s supposed to be like 21 and not as mature or whatever as Bodie. Which also brings me to his close mindedness about not wanting a family like dude THERAPY you’re supposed to also be smart. Also I kept thinking something was going to happen to him like he was going to have an accident due to the mentioning of the specific side of the ribs his Mom smacked him on in the beginning of the book to then have it mentioned again like “ Rose elbows me in the ribs” “that’s a lot of sugar, or how much sugar is in that” like I get he was health nut but at first made me think he was gonna reveal he is diabetic or has a heart condition. We all love glitter but she was a little too much but I guess that’s her go big or go home. Something was just missing for me tho. Also yea Jules is the badass one of the group and Trish the southern belle all lady like but Jackie is this mega genius and even in book 1 she didn’t pick up on some social cues but in this one her not picking up the cues made her seem like she was a dumb blonde stereotype Who doesn’t understand a pun like “pot calling the kettle black” to come out and her repose be along the lines of the literal looking for a pot and a black kettle in the living room.

No one is prepared for Rose West. I've been waiting for her story since the first time she appeared on the page, it was everything I wanted and more. Rose is the friend we wish we all had, and everything about her story is not only laugh out loud hilarious (expected) there was also a lot of crying and emotions (unexpected. I am also pregnant so my ability to cry is exacerbated. Assess your own level of sap when it comes to if you'll cry or not at huge emotional growth and purpose affirming experiences.)

Rose and Bodie meet at a wedding and think they're having a one night stand. Except Bodie can't get Rose off his mind, and thus begins a dance of pretending we're friends with benefits while both of us try to pretend we don't have feelings. It is both hilarious and painful. Bodie has his reasons for being closed off, and it's easy to be sympathetic but also want to shake him at the same time. Rose doesn't trust easily, also for pretty understandable reasons, and her trust once broken is hard to earn back. In a way these two are perfect for each other because their underlying motivation for so much of what they do is the same: everyone leaves, you can only rely on you. Which sounds really depressing and yet I laughed my way through this book. At one point, I was laughing so hard and trying to be quiet that I just started crying because I couldn't hold it in anymore.

As always, Sara writes characters that come right off the page and into your brain and heart. The writing is fast and quippy, and you're entertained and invested. This entire series was fantastic and hilarious, and Space Balls hits just the right note to end the series on. You'll want to revisit this odd little NASA crew, and you'll want to tell everyone you know to read it too so you can talk about pole dancing classes and casually call your friends "hooker" as a pet name. You will not regret this book or this series, start reading them RIGHT NOW.

Sadly this didn't live up to my expectations. The only good thing is that I was somehow spoiled as to what will happen in this book, and though it involves one of my least favorite tropes, at least I wasn't taken by surprise.

Apart from that trope, I didn't enjoy the age difference between Vance and Rose. I don't have issues with that in real life, but I just don't prefer reading about them, since a lot of times the characters' main conflict is that they are not in the same maturity level. It makes the book sounds petty.

That age difference problem I had played a big role. I wanted to like Vance, I was so excited when I learned he and Rose will be made into a couple in a book. I took offense in his values and thoughI understand it's made so that he will have character growth, it still didn't make it better.

Rose was a fun character, I loved her and was definitely rooting for her since book 1. She was understandably young, so her pettiness and quirks were to be expected, but I'm glad she easily steps up for what her future will be.

The bigger factor I didn't like this book as much as the others is that it's too dramatic for the entire series. All three other books managed to be fun but deep at the same time, sadly, this one was too dramatic for my taste.

It's a sad way to end the series but I enjoyed Vance's family, especially Jacob and Jase. I wish other people will love and enjoy this book more than I did.

Book review 🚀 When a wedding one night stand turns into more, Rose and Vance never see each other coming.

Carefree Rose West has more money than she knows what to do with. She is a carefeee party girl who is a ride or die for her friends, but also smart as all hell . She isn’t just a airhead that people presume her to be. Abandoned by her parents she always feels so alone even though she has older brothers. All her friends are engaged or married and then there is her. Then boom she meets a hot as hell astronaut named Vance and the chemistry is automatically off the charts.

I would say both Vance and Rose have issues that go deep. Rose doesn’t think she is worthy of anyone staying forever and due to Vance’s job he wants to avoid having a family like the plague. But the question is will love out weigh all their fears?

The explosive chemistry you felt between the characters was everything. I also loved the growth in Rose along the way. Vance and Rose literally became the best version of themselves with one another.

If you want to read a good age gap romance based around NASA and have a good laugh, this ones for you!

Wooow! This is the fourth book in the series and holy cookie cow (check out book 2 for that joke) did it not disappoint. While all four books sucked me in and made me laugh out loud to the point my kids thought I was nuts, this book was my favorite. Why you ask? Rose.

Rose is an amazing character. She is unapologetically herself, smart, witty and has an actual glitter room ✨ (#life goals). What is not to love!? This book follows her story as she find her calling (outside of poll dancing classes) and her growing relationship with astronaut Vance Bodaway.

Sarah has a way of writing characters that are so full of life, do to die for funny and make you wish that you were part of their girl gang. These books also include a bunch of science, which counts as educational reading in my opinion.🤣

I cannot wait for more books from Sarah (she has a new one out this year!!). I highly recommend this asa must read series.

OMG I was so looking forward to Rose 's book from the start cause I knew that it could be nothing short of explosive.
Rose 's personality is so likable , she's a strong big hearted woman that loves so hard and would do anything for the people she loves. On top of that she's not the type of gal that would bend for anyone. She oozes confidence. But deep down she has a lot of abandonment issues due to her childhood. And with her brothers and her girlfriends all gettin hitched she feels like the 7th wheel in the group of happy couples. Enter Body who comes at the right moment at her brother's wedding
and the heat picks up from there. Both of our heroes have issues caused by their childhood and they have a lot of bumps ahead of them. But I loved every moment of it. I love the girls and the guys in this series they definitely keep things interesting.

I have loved this series. And I didn’t particularly dislike this book. It was… fine.

But after three books of super smart, super feminist, super self reliant women who choose the men they do because those men support those things… it really rubbed me the wrong way for Rose not to feel like she had a purpose until she got pregnant.

Especially because it basically came off as the end of her doing anything else except being a mom.

And I don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with being a mother. I am a mother. And Rose definitely had the personality to be a great mom (she is very giving and nurturing in her daily life.)

But I feel like it was such a missed opportunity with Rose. All she wanted was to give back, and with a business degree, starting or heading a non-profit seemed like the perfect thing for her. I was REALLY hoping that’s where it was going to head. I was desperately hoping she would figure that out for herself.

Instead, everything about her having a career stopped the instant she got pregnant because… of course it did.

That being said, I LOVED Vance making a sacrifice in HIS career for his family. So often having a family only impacts women’s careers and the fact that it could have a huge impact on a man’s career was refreshing.

And I really appreciated that Rose refused to compromise on what she wanted out of the relationship. Having a baby didn’t mean automatically marrying Vance.

And the smut in this was stellar. As it has been for all three books. In fact, it seems to just keep getting better. And the introduction of Vance’s family was absolute perfection. If the author ever does more of these books, they’ll be a great addition to our cast.

And, as always, the way these books highlight the importance of having a group of close girlfriends gets even more poignant in this book (Rose’s feelings when “the boys” are involved vs her feelings when it’s just her and the girls.) And her friends were so awesomely supportive of her, even to the point of hiding from their partners for a week so that they could keep Rose’s secret until she was ready to share (since their partners are her brothers, or good friends with her brothers.)

I just feel like the author really dropped the ball with Rose and her ambitions though. And I honestly wasn’t nearly as invested in Rose and Vance’s story or relationship. Which makes me sad because I was really looking forward to Rose’s story and feel really let down by it.

Space Balls was a fun and easy read that had the makings of a feel good book. Rose and Vance were both likeable characters and I enjoyed their romance progression. There was an element of opposites attract to their romance and I liked the different sides they brought out in one another; Rose made Vance less of a rule follower getting him to be a little less serious whilst Vance got Rose to slow down and just be herself. Their sexual chemistry was instant and after came the obvious connection which was intensified by their different life experiences and lifestyle choices which made their connection deeper as through spending time with the other they got to experience and begin thinking about things in a way they hadn’t before.

The plot outside of the romance progression and pregnancy was also good and I liked the role Vance’s profession as an astronaut played in the overall plot. The storylines involving NASA and the jobs which half the main cast of characters in this series hold are a standout feature of the series itself and make it memorable so it was fun to see it explored further and the impact it had on Vance. The appearances of the characters in this series who have already had their books were enjoyable and made for some memorable scenes, especially between the West siblings when Flynn and Holt found out their sister was pregnant and they got all protective and sentimental. Vance’s family also made for some memorable scenes and their interactions with Vance added to his characterisation which brought him to life a little more when you compare the characterisation between him and Rose.

Overall Space Balls was a fun enjoyable book with a good blend of humour (though less humorous than previous books) and seriousness that made a strong conclusion to the series and I really enjoyed the bonus epilogue which gave us an insight into the future for all the characters who the books have been about.

Favourite Quotes:
‘Sometimes with Rose, I get lost in all the showmanship, the glitter, the jokes, the hair, but now, still and peaceful with nothing to distract me, I can see just how stunning she really is. She glows. Like a star’

‘Vance calms something inside me. Makes me feel like it’s okay to just be me. That I can stop and take a breath. That I don’t have to do everything at one hundred miles an hour to prove my worth to everyone - including myself.’

Space Balls is book four in the Space series by Sara L. Hudson. We have had glimpses of Rose in the other books in this series, but I for one have been so looking forward to seeing her get the full story treatment. I love how this one starts. It goes straight for the sexy and OMG, it more than delivers. Bodie is the leading man here and he is more than up to the task. These characters are so fun and the dialogue is so delicious it was easy to get completely wrapped up into what seems like it will be a typical one night stand among wedding guests.

Of course, it’s about to get so much more complicated. Rose and Bode are at completely different stations in their life. Bodie is just where he’s wanted to be in terms of his career… finally about to lead his first space mission. For Rose, she’s clearly still trying to find meaning in her life. Although she has money and security, and a few solid friends, she still has a lonely life. When she and Bodie collide, the attraction is quite literally out of this world. But both are determined to keep it casual. For Rose, it seems that she doesn’t believe she deserves more, whereas for Bodie, it’s more of a calculated move. Having lost his father as a young man and seeing the devastation left in his wake, he is determined never to get too close to anyone. He feels it would be selfish given the unavoidable risks he takes as part of his career. But soon enough, his plans for a solitary life are in jeopardy.

To me, of all of the couples in this series these two have the most chemistry. And there is so much humor here. Between pole dance lessons, millionaire Rose’s Black Friday experience, and the non-stop banter between these two, Space Balls is just so much fun! The chemistry is showcased exceptionally well in the narration by Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels. They truly are a dream team and at this point, book four in a series, it really is like putting on a cozy sweater. From the first chapter, I was completely swept away by this story.

4 ⭐️s for Vance and Rose…

Though Book 4 was my least favorite in Hudson’s Space series, this was still an enjoyable listen thanks to a great pair of narrator performances and the dynamic that the author has been building among the four friends from book 1. The group scenes between the friends are some of the best parts.

In terms of the MCs, Vance was the more compelling for me in terms of character arc. His struggle with the circumstances of his father’s passing and its impact on his relationships with his family were heartbreaking. And while He had charm and humor, confidence in his work, he also had deep fears and wanted to prevent his loved ones from feeling pain. Of course, he goes about it in a convoluted way and his journey towards realizing that really worked for me.

While there is much to love about Rose and her OTT personality has led to some hilarious scenes (in this book as well as the others), there were also times when her immaturity frustrated me. She is 21, and that is probably part of the problem for me in this context; I am not a fan of the age gap trope when it is the typical older man/younger woman (and 15 years really pushes it IMHO). There were times when I was engaged enough to forget the generation between Rose and Bodie, but there were others when I would grind my teeth or roll my eyes. Another trope cropped up later on the story that is also not a favorite (no spoilers), so that didn’t help either.

The narrator performances were great, as they have been across the previous books. Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels just fit this series so well and are able to bring something new to each couple. Sometimes, when the same narrators are used for all the couples in a series it can feel a bit one note and fail to evoke enough differentiation between duos. That is definitely not the case with the Space series.

Worth a listen, especially if you’ve been following from book 1.

I received a Spotify code via Home Cooked Books. Also read via KU. All opinions are my own.

Rose is not my favorite character in this series, so it took all my fortitude to get through the first 30% of this book. Ugh. She was so off-putting. But I almost never dnf romances because even the most odious main character is usually redeemed in a way that makes the HEA all the more satisfying. In this story both Rose and Bodie are redeemed in a spectacular way.

Rose is young but she's smart—both street smart and book smart—and she's built up a crust due to past hurts. It's a little bit hard to understand what Bodie liked about her at first, aside from her general outrageousness. Life is a party for Rose, she likes everything to be fun, and this strikes a chord with Bodie who is essentially reserved and closed off and really needs some fun in his life. So a short fling between the good-time-girl and the astronaut seemed like a good idea at the time...

This story has some slow moments and some scenes when I couldn't read fast enough. There are some repetitive phrases and ideas that wear a bit thin by the end, and there's not quite as much NASA stuff as I was hoping for. Rose can be shocking and insensitive, but I loved that she was a true feminist, even in her ultimate life choice which I never would have expected for her in a million years. Overall this is pleasantly written and easy to read and the narration in the audiobook is good. I just wish the blurb didn't include that major, major spoiler, which could have made the story all the better for the impact that element of surprise would have made. Still, this is a really great finale to the series. The last 25% was worth waiting for and the bonus epilogue tied the series up really nicely.

(I have one caveat. I'm not a fan of glitter. If you inhale that stuff or get it in your eyes or mouth it can create problems, so be careful out there.)

4th and final book in the Space series, this can be read on it's own but the cast of characters is so tightly wound within this amazing girl gang that you will want to read from the beginning for maximum impact.

Rose has been a very enthusiastic side character since the beginning of the series so finally getting to read her story is much anticipated. She did not disappoint.

Rose is a special kind of character. She's very smart (graduating a term early in a very prestigious business fellow program), she's the very definition of eccentric billionaire (buying gifts, throwing money at problems in a good way, changing her mind on a whim), she pole dances, loves glitter and just lives life to the fullest. But with all her girl gang finding their match, she's the 7th wheel and it's wearing her down.

Vance is an astronaut. He's anti-commitment with his dangerous job and losing his father at a young age. But he's very very drawn to Rose's bright bubbly uniqueness. And that's before he really finds out who she really is. She's the wedding reception one-night-stand he can't get out of his head.

They balance each other so well as people and I loved seeing them go from "don't catch feelings, it's just friends with benefits" to feeling deep things and wanting everything together.

The audiobook is performed by Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels. They've done the whole series and you can just feel how naturally they shift between all the characters in this rich cast of characters. The things that Samantha has to say and portray as Rose just cracks me up (and grosses me out, Black Friday sale... IYKYK), but also when she starts getting deep with her feelings, it's so gripping. Lee is great as Vance again, a lot of stuff to unpack a the very serious character, but under the surface, there is a lot that Vance is dealing with and Lee just brings it all to life really well.

I requested and was provided with a copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

I have been waiting for Rose West’s story since I read the first book of this series and it was definitely worth the wait! Laugh out loud funny with a little side of angst, it was everything I expected but also so much more. This is a billionaire heroine, astronaut hero, age-gap, friends with benefits, surprise baby romance that has all the hilariousness I had come to expect, but also made me tear up at what both Rose and Vance overcome to be the best versions of themselves.

Rose is a ride or die, life of the party kind of girl who will fight anyone that deserves it (I’m looking at you socks with crocs lady), with more money than she knows what to do with, and is feeling a little left out that all of her friends are getting engaged/married even though that’s the last thing she thinks she wants. Then along comes Vance, who is a very laid back astronaut, and although very opposite their chemistry is instant and very hot. However, Rose doesn’t think she’s good enough for anyone to stay, and Vance doesn’t believe he deserves a family due to his dangerous job (after he lost his dad at a young age). I definitely wanted to glitter bomb Vance in the face toward the end of this book, but he does make up for it and they get their HEA.

One of the things I love about this series is that the author definitely knows what she’s talking about with all the NASA information, so you might learn something new and actually feel smarter after reading! As this is the last book in the series, I read it as slow as I could just so that I didn’t have to see it end and say goodbye to characters who feel like my friends, but I’m looking forward to what is coming up next!

The astronaut and the cowboy

Jules has worked hard to become a female astronaut. She is just returning form a mission where she fixed a major problem that could have destroyed the space station. But she has a problem, a stalker who is making threats and she has no idea who it is. She thinks bringing it up to NASA might keep her from continuing as she has and gaining promotion.

Holt is the head of his families oil company and runs the family ranch. When their parents died he felt he was responsible for his two siblings because he was the oldest. He goes to great lengths to secure their happiness and future. He is somewhat of a recluse but he shows up at the celebration the NASA crew are having to celebrate the success of a space walk. He first sees Jules on Skype as she is floating in space. Her looks attract him but he is captivated by her over the top personality. When he sees her in person at the bar with her friends he knows he wants to get to know her better. The way that first interaction goes is not exactly how he wanted it to happen but he'll take it. She is attracted to him but is determined not to get involved until the stalker ramps up her threats and she gets concerned. Holt doesn't know what is going on but he is more than ready to help.

Thing are sometimes crazy and sometimes sweet but they are so good together and you can't help wanting them to end up together. The constant interaction with their family and friends is one of the things I really like about this series.Their story captivated me and kept me reading long into the night., It was worth it!

Space Balls: Houston, We Have Liftoff
Space Series, Book 4
By: Sara L Hudson
Narrated by: Samantha Brentmoor, Lee Samuels

From the first book in this series, I could not wait to see who would tame Rose! Spitfire from the start, this billionairess is full of energy, brains, beauty and love. She just needed the right person! At Jackie and Flynn's wedding, she hooks up with Bodie, an astronaut who is just looking for some fun. The perfect match for her, they have a wild, passionate interlude. But Bodie isn't done with her. Though he has no interest in a relationship, after all, he does leave for extended periods and is in a dangerous profession, he enjoyed his time and wants more. When he finally figures out who she is, the two ignite. We are off an running with these two, conflicting emotions, spicy times and laughs a mile a minute. Until it's not! And now with our incredible ensemble cast, including newcomer Bodie's mom, we have drama. This book is everything I love about this series, everything I expected and more. I love Rose with all of her spunk, but I especially loved her at the end. She shows maturity and true love. Bodie is fun loving, and his relationship with his mother is a hoot! Add in the other couples and we have a party all the way through this story. Love this series, and highly recommend it!

The series finishes with the amazing narration of Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels. These two could not have been better cast. Spot on comedic timing, voices that carry from book to book and all the emotions to bring our hearts right into the story. I loved these two together!

Vance "Bodie" Bodaway lost his dad when he was young. So, he's never going to get married or have a family after watching his mother suffer from the loss of her husband. He never gave a moment's thought to becoming an astronaut - which might be safer than driving down the highway, but dude, come on...

Rose West is smart - really smart - and really wealthy. She's done well through college but now that she's almost at the end, she has no idea what she really wants to do with her degree. Good thing she doesn't have to work unless she wants to. There was very little (nothing) said about what she might or could do, since really, she could do just about anything. She also loves outrageous. When she decides to have a very brief fling with Bodie during Jackie & Flynn's wedding, her expectations are both low and high at the same time. She wasn't expecting feelings to develop.

There are other unexpected consequences from their tryst. There was some pretty good communication not just between Rose and Bodie, but Bodie with his sister and his mother. So even if there was a hitch in their newly developing relationship, it was settled quickly. And it was really nice that Rose's brothers Holt & Flynn didn't insert themselves into what was going on. They recognize that she's an adult and that they didn't have a lot to say about the decisions she was going to make, and they were supportive, not judgmental.

I enjoyed the book but Rose is a little much for me - which could be her age but she really did mature a lot over the course of the story.

Sweet Scale: 3/5
Spicy Scale: 3.5/5

🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠(If I could give all the stars I would!)
You know that moment when you're reading a book, and BAM, it hits you like an asteroid that you are running through every possible emotion in this book and enjoying the heck out of it. Holy International Space Station--Spaceballs is one of my favorite reads of 2021--NO DOUBT! I read it in one sitting, laughing so hard I cried and probably peed myself a bit. Later I found myself reaching for the tissues as these two people worked through a lifetime of feeling abandoned by others.

Rose West is a force of nature. We have known this since we met her drunk as a cooter in Space Junk. We've watched her tornado her way through life doing what she wants, but at the same time being one of the most caring and faithful of friends. She's a glitter tsunami in stripper heels and leg warmers who loves fiercely and will cut you if you mess with her people. Vance Bodaway (Bodie/Flashlight) never stood a chance.

Their love story is steamy, hilarious, and tender. They both make mistakes but forgive. THIS BOOK is why I read romance; it took me to Texas and gave me a story that left me with a book hangover and the final scene playing over and over in my mind. Now I loved the uber awkward Jackie and her story with Flynn in Space Junk; that epilogue was one of the sweetest ever. However, Rose and Vance have won in my book. Let's just say be prepared when you read about the Black Friday fight (you will need your Depends).

Spaceballs will definitely be on my Top Reads of 2021.

Just absolutely not.

The first book in this series was excellent. Super interesting romantic STEM read. The next books went a bit downhill, but this book is absolutely the worst.

Let me set the opening scene: We're at the wedding of the main characters from Space #1. FMC, Rose, is a bridesmaid and the sister of the groom. She is 21 years old. Twenty-one. She meets a friend of the bride who is a 36yo astronaut. First of all. Just disgusting. It's not a 30yo and a 45yo. This is a 21yo kid with an adult who should know better. Absolutely bleah. But you know what this 21yo kid is doing? She is systematically drinking every single glass from the table. Every single solitary glass of alcohol on the table.

Rose does not care whose alcohol it is. She does not care if someone has been drinking from it. She does not care that it is an open bar and she can have all the alcohol she can drink. She just drinks everyone's drinks. Then, she and her very, very old astronaut slip away to the barn. At 36yo he thinks there is nothing wrong with having sex with a 21yo who has drunk all the drinks at the table. Oh wait. She has a roll of $50 bills in her cleavage. She unwraps two of them and hands them to a waiter and asks him to refill the drinks. The free drinks. Why is she carrying around a roll of $50 bills? Maybe so she can unwrap a few after sex and hand them to the astronaut to thank him after sex? Oh yes she does.

All this in the first few pages. What is wrong with this author? The first book in this series was delightful. This is truly just disgusting.

If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I'm not a huge fan of age gap. And this one is a doozy! (15 years!)

So why did I read it? I really liked the rest of the series, I wanted to see the series finale, and I loved Rose and Jules both in this series. Their voices are strong and I knew Rose wouldn't disappoint.

She doesn't. Her voice is consistent. Her journey is subtle in parts (like we know her hang ups, but we don't really get into WHY until we're really into the conflict of the book), and the resolution is really lovely. And the funny bits are really hilarious, as is Rose's glitter fascination. Also, if I thought I could figure it out, I would totally glitter-out my KitchenAid.

The found family themes are really strong in this book. Though Bodie definitely deserves to be kicked in the nuts at least once, maybe twice. Rose's family and Bodie's family are lovely and supportive and just good people and I wanted to hug them.

Did the book wrap the series? Uh, I struggle here. It was fine. Better than some series. I love a good curtain call and it bothers me that I often have to sign up for an author newsletter to get it. I wanted to see how Flynn's partner Michael resolved his own relationship woes (why was that scene in here if we don't find out more about him?) and I really wanted to see an altercation with Veronica and Rose and Trish when Rose moves into their neighborhood! So...not a bad ending, but it wasn't as totally satisfying as a Hallmark Holiday Movie.

**Audiobook Review**

“Space Balls” is another laugh out loud and steamy rom-com and I loved Rose and Vance’s story.

Rose is the billionaire sister of the West brothers and is always going at 100 MPH. At her brother’s wedding, she ends up hooking up with astronaut Vance Bodaway. Vance can’t get her out of his mind and despite always promising to be single, he wants more time with Rose before he goes back on the ISS. The two start a friends with benefits relationship and as they spend time together, they realize how good they are together.

I have loved Rose from the very first book and I’m so glad she finally got her story. She’s smart, kind, will literally do anything for her friends and has so many layers she doesn’t let everyone see. I connected with her right from the beginning and she kept me laughing and smiling the whole time. Vance is a complicated man who built a wall around any possible relationships but all he needed was a fiery oil baroness to bring it down. These two have great chemistry and friendship that was key to their relationship becoming more. Vance’s mom and sister are the best and such a fun addition to the story.

Once again, Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels were so good at narrating this book. I loved that they did all four books. And with each character, they had different voices so you knew who was who. This series was great and will be a relisten for me.

Rose West is the youngest of the West siblings who are billionaires thanks to their Texas ranch land. She is also the youngest of her crazy group. She is now graduating college early, trying to figure out what she's meant to do in life. Only the thing she realizes she wants the most isn't even on her radar right now.

I love how we learned more about Rose in this book. In the previous books, we just knew her as a fun 21 year old with lame friends who didn't have to worry about money or what people thought about her. Now she's graduating college early and being all responsible with life and giving caring and thoughtful gifts to friends and charities. I love how we watched her grow.

We also get to know more about Bodie (aka Vance or Flashlight). He was present in the previous books, but not as much as Rose. He's in his mid thirties and we learn about his family, dreams, and what he wants out of life.

The surprise baby trope is not my thing, but it's also not something I dislike enough to keep me away from a series or author I love.

I absolutely loved this series! I found the first two books on Kindle Unlimited a couple years ago, but it always takes me sooo much longer to get through a book than an audiobook. I was so excited when I found out this series was now on audio! Samantha Brentmoor and Lee Samuels finish this series out perfectly.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You love crazy ladies who always keep you guessing at what's coming next.

4.5 ⭐️. This book starts with a bang and I’m not at all mad at it. I would expect nothing less from a book with Rose as the heroine. This is the final book in this series and I’m so sad about it. This entire series has been such an absolute joy to read. Everything about it.

Bodie(Vance) and Rose are just looking for some fun and a good time. The first scene, in the back of the Barn between these two is so hot. Nicely steamy and I was here for it. I love how comfortable and confident in her own skin Rose is. She knows who she is and what she wants. She goes with the flow of life and is always there for fun.

Bodie takes a bit to catch on with what is truly happening between them. He may be 36 to Rose’s 21 but it always felt like she was such an old soul. The chemistry between them is off the charts. The side characters were amazing. Especially Bodie’s nephews and their full support and acceptance of feminism. I highlighted so many spots.

This books made me laugh, smile and gave me the warm fuzzies. I hate saying goodbye to books filled with strong females, and the men that are strong enough to get to love them. Sara I will read whatever you write, I adore your books.
