What. In. The. Actual... I don't even know where to start. This author, N. Isabelle Blanco, is a genius when it comes to creating paranormal worlds and the characters that dwell in them. There's magic and wonder mixed with raunchiness and something that vaguely resembles humanity. Reading Cursed was a bit like falling down the rabbit hole and it's a crazy drop!
Silas had lived a broken existence and when, during a drug binge, he's offered the chance at a better life, he grabs onto it with both hands. Sell his soul to have a roof over his head, food in his stomach, and the kind of security he's never known? No problem. Especially when he can convince himself that it was all a hallucination. So what happens when that 'hallucination', that 'dream', becomes all too real? You get the madness I found in Cursed.
I really enjoyed the infusion of voodoo and the Creole culture. The depictions of legendary people were amazing and it was very easy to envision this other world in New Orleans. While Silas came off as pretty pathetic due to his obsession with his witch, and she came off as incredibly abrasive and unlikeable, I couldn't get enough of their cat and mouse game. It was scorching hot! There is so much more to explore in this world that Blanco has created, between these characters and the intriguing mythical others that were introduced, and I can't wait to see what the author comes up with for them next.
Cursed by N. Isabelle Blanco was a dark, unique, unusual PNR. I HAD to give it 5 stars because a) I've never read anything like it and it was interesting AF and b) the history, mythology, and descriptions of New Orleans were flawless and enchanting.
This story focuses on Silas and the pact he made when he was homeless, high, and desperate as a 17 year old. The timeline goes back and forth in the beginning (with one helluva prologue) before it focuses on the present. Man, those scenes were described with such detail it felt real! After waking up as a beast with blood and gore surrounding him, he finally comes face to face with the woman he was promised and who haunted his dreams for a decade.
Man, the sexual chemistry between him and his witch was crazy intense. His primal reaction, her disgust but undeniable bodily reactions, the dirty talk. Good. Lawd.
And the action? SO good. The storyline was super quick, but really interesting. I feel like we got an influx of so much folklore we barely scratched the surface...but this isn't the end of the story, so I'm excited about that! Seriously, I didn't know what to expect going into this based on just the blurb and I ended up LOVING it.
In this dark paranormal romance, you will meet Khatiya & Silas. The introduction is immediate and your sense of involvement is stirred up from the start. I won't bore you rehashing the summary of this novel. What I will say is the author, my first novel by Blanco, does an excellent job on executing action scenes, getting you to invest emotionally, and a bang up job in the paranormal without being corny or redundant.
Cursed by N. Isabelle Blanco is the perfect example of how a talented author can make me love a genre of romance that I usually don't love. It was a crazy twisted, steamy, action packed ride. It was a fine line between insanity and reality. The dark realm of fantasy and magic blended with modern world expertly.
Silas Leblanc has sold his soul to some strong and magical forces on a fateful night when he was just trying to stay alive. And in return he has gained fame, money and power. Even if his road was paved with money from corrupt and vile people. Now the witch has come to collect the payment as determined before. The same witch he has fantasized about and obsessed over.
This author has this epic ability to mix real world with paranormal world so conveniently. Set in the mystical city of New Orleans, this story takes us through mythical creatures and human emotions. There is drama. There is action. There is so much chemistry. This book is steamy to the power infinity. Silas and his witch make an unlikely pair. This was enemies to lovers in very unique settings. You will keep on wondering just what is happening as the story keeps you on the edge. Silas is raw and full of flawed characteristics. The witch is powerful and fierce with so much attitude. They clash and burn as a bigger battle is taking place in New Orleans.
If you are a paranormal romance lover, Cursed by N. Isabelle Blanco is a must read for you. If you are NOT a paranormal romance lover, this story will still mesmerize you.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
OMG this book is totally amazing!!! We follow Silas during his path of making an agreement he thought was a hallucination all the way until it kicks in bringing the woman of dreams with it. During his younger years he was a drug addict and while on one of benders he stumbled across some witches though he didn't know it. After signing the deal he goes on to become a hot shot lawyer that is getting a party thrown in his honor. This just happens to be the time frame for the deal so he turns into a werewolf with some gruesome results. While dealing with that a woman of flames appears to kill him. She is the same woman he has been dreaming about and from there the story just keeps getting better and better until I couldn't put it down. With surprises at every turn it will keep your attention all the way to the end leaving you wanting more of these two. A must read for fans of dark paranormal romance. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I love paranormal romances, and this one had an interesting spin on a familiar tale that will have you wanting to know what is going to happen and when it is going to happen. Be prepared because this review will be a bit vague, but that is because I don't want to give anything away!
What I can tell you is that I really enjoyed the story and getting to know the characters, it was fresh and OH SO HOT with just the right amount of story included. If you are looking for a paranormal romance that will set your kindle on fire while also keeping you interested, this is definitely your next book! I liked the way that the author balanced everything and give this book 4.5 outta 5 stars!
PS: Thank you to N Isabelle Blanco and Candi Kane PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!
Silas had it all, success, wealth, and a career to be envied. But all good things come with a price. And a certain fiery witch has come to collect payment.
I loved Silas, with his snarky, sexy attitude. And the chemistry oozing between him and the feisty, prickly witch was hot as hell. The fight to stay alive is pulse pounding, and the revelations that are shown to Silas show him to be an unexpectedly bigger player in this game of life and death. But can he escape his fate? Prepare for twists and turns from beginning to end!
This book I really enjoyed. I love a good paranormal and this was amazing. Khatiya & Silas are characters that I definitely want more. Very good story with amazing characters, I’m sold. Another amazing story that I couldn’t reading.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This book is phenomenal in my opinion!! I love PNR but don’t read it as much as I’d like to and with this book that I devoured it makes me want read it only lol. Silas is a addict who in a practically comatose state makes a deal that he thinks is a delusion at times until he realizes it’s not. This book was so incredibly steamy that if the story doesn’t get you, the heat will
This book was so good. Book started with a Bang and it kept my attention after that. Silas was very interesting character and I liked that this book was written from his pov.
An ARC was provided in exhange for an honest review.
"Plain and simple" Trust me this is far from that!
I'm torn between slightly upset and over the moon happy Upset because I want more This was like an appetizer The stage is set The opening act begins All kinds of action and tension are presented These two had me dying - the tension, the denial, the need Explosions and destruction with every turn of the page then... A Happy for Now
What a refreshing and unique blend of the mystical (I've always been fascinated by the Voodoo religion) and the paranormal (witches vampires and werewolves) The author set up so many possibilities for a future series in this short story Packed with heart-pounding action Vivid characters Wrapped up in a solid storyline that comes to life leaving the reader feeling as though they are a part of the events I have so many questions Who is Silas a descendant of? What's up with Marie and Baron? Why did our little fire witch suddenly awaken with more power? ( this was a bread crumb in the story)
Silas, during a drug-induced haze, traded his soul for the dream. Now a decade later he has almost everything he was promised (the word almost is important). During a celebratory party, after a blackout, the woman of his dreams suddenly appears claiming his life is forfeit. Small problem there He wants a taste of her first - after he rinses out his mouth - Ewwww - and figures out why he has fur???
The fire-throwing witch (not sure her name is in the blurb and if it isn't I don't want to spoil the surprise 'cause trust and believe our man Silas had to go deep to get it) has been betrayed by her coven - and the werewolf she's supposed to "harvest"? He is more than she bargained for in every way
Can she evade her coven long enough to dispose of them? When the time comes can she rid her werewolf (wait he's not her) of his essence Does she want to?
I devoured Author Blanco's latest paranormal feast, and I was more than sated with her unique blend of damaged souls and crazy characters. She starts the story off with one heck of a sex scene, and immediately I'm drawn in...just like that.
We meet down and out Silas, who seemingly gets a new lease on life after a strange encounter with people who don't seem real. Everything is fuzzy to the addict...until he realizes that fate has come to collect. Author Blanco has a way with description that lures you in as a reader, grasping onto your imagination and not letting go easily.
"She’s in my tub as I predicted, practically swimming around the seventy-two inch, recessed space. The first thing my eyes do is bounce to take in whatever glimpse of her the water affords— there’s none to be found. The water she’s swimming in is pitch black. I feel suspiciously like a kid on the verge of some kind of tantrum, and that only aggravates me more. The lights in the bathroom are off and the main source of illumination happens to be the dozens of candles floating in the air above my head. Shadows play off the white paint, the distressed, exposed brick wall behind the tub."
I was hooked so hard that I read this book in one sitting. By setting this story in New Orleans, it allowed author Blanco to bring in characters of myth that shock and awe the scenes with grit and mystical magic. And she's done her homework... All the characters are fully formed and three dimensional with clever dialogue that fits each of their personal narratives. And there are spells that crackle with authenticity.
""A million different aims, Twisted on the path, Casting all the blame, Incurring their full wrath. Strength of day, Malice of night, I rule over the creatures that manifest fright. Cruelty, pain, etch it in my name, Fading, Fading, Dying in the flames, Siblings that betray, Monsters bathed in shame, Let the righteous in this quarrel rise up and claim the game.”"
And the action scenes... Just wow. They grab a hold of your senses and give you thrills. I was so impressed with how this story came together. Under another less skilled paranormal writer, it may have veered into satire and parody. Author Blanco uses a deft hand to bring a wholly satisfying standalone novel to people like me who love a book that redefines well used tropes.
Silas and Khatiya's story is a paranormal romance with a good storyline, great characters, and a good world-build. it will be twisted and steamy so be ready to get on a bumpy ride, this is a dark fantasy romance, that will have you reading it in no time, it is very entertaining and you will find yourself immersed in a world based in New Orleans, full of action and adventure, where the wizards, warlocks, werewolves and all the magic is released. I would love to see this one done on an audiobook someday.
First of all what did I just read! I can’t believe how entrance and enchanted this amazing book is. I couldn’t stop reading. N. Isabelle Blanco transported me into a journey that I didn’t want to leave.
This is the story of Silas LeBlanc, he had a rough upbringing which lead him into making bad decisions in his life. When he was 17 years old at his lowest, temptation came to him.
When Silas sees his future with the beautiful goddess, he signs with blood the contract without hesitation. And he thought it was just a hallucination.
For 10 years he can’t stop dreaming and thinking about her. Until the day that he was at his highest that he met her, but what he didn’t expect was the change his life was about to take.
“When you want someone as much as I want her—and as much as she wants me, I finally admit—it can scare the living shit out of you.”
“It’s bad enough to want something when you haven’t had it, yet. Imagine having it, becoming addicted to it, and then it’s taken away.”
New Orleans is amazing but reading this book about Witches, Warlocks, Werewolves and magic has me wanting more. N. Isabelle did an amazing job like always and my praises go to her. This is the best paranormal book I have read, the explanation of the voodoo, the gris gris and much more has me entrance.
I’m crossing my fingers that we get to read more about Silas and Khatiya, I want to get to know them as individuals and as a couple. And obviously I want to know what happened in between Marie and Baron.
I literally devour any book that N. Isabelle Blanco writes so when I heard about Cursed I just knew I was going to love it! Cursed was amazing! An enchanting blend of paranormal mystery, action, and romance with just a hint of redemption. I was sucked into the story from the very first sentence and it just kept getting better. I love how N. Isabelle Blanco's writing makes you feel like you are literally immersed in the world that she paints.I felt like I was walking down the streets of New Orleans with Silas and Sin.
Cursed is about Silas who sold his soul to get out of the gutter life had thrown him in. Silas went from being a drug addict with absolutely nothing left, including hope for the future, to a man who had ALMOST everything laid at his feet. 10 years after he sold his soul is he willing to pay up when the devil comes to collect?
Sin is the witch that is sent to collect on Silas' bargain. But not all is as it seems. Sin and Silas must work together if they are going to make it through this alive. I absolutely loved Sins character she is fiery and takes no s*** from anyone. Her and Silas have so much chemistry and passion, it flows off the pages!
Cursed was filled with action, folklore, heat, and so much more! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance or reading in general! 5 mystical stars! I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review
This was such a great story! I loved this unique paranormal world of shifters and witches and monster hunters! Set amongst the backdrop of the mysterious New Orleans, Cursed introduces us to a gritty, dark and magical world.
Silas hasn’t had an easy life, but one decision has him turning everything around. Now, he’s rubbing elbows with the creme de la creme of the city, indulging in the best New Orleans can offer its most affluent citizens. But sometimes, things may just be too good to be true.
Silas is smart, funny, witty, and self-deprecating. He’s also got a bit of an alpha-male attitude. Probably because he’s a werewolf. Oh, and he’s in love with a figment of his imagination. A beautiful woman whose haunted his dreams since forever. Until she’s not just in his head, but right in front of him. And trying to kill him.
Yes, Sin is a badass witch and she’s part of a coven that has been sent to kill Silas. She’s intelligent, beautiful, headstrong, and not in the mood to deal with Silas’ obvious crush. Because things have changed and now she has to figure out why her coven is coming after her.
Cursed was such a refreshing paranormal read! I really can’t wait to get the rest of this series.
This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I literally read it in one sitting.
Silas Leblanc was a broken and lost soul trying to stay alive; the only thing he was truly looking for was happiness. He made a pact in exchange for a better life, a pact he never thought would have so many consequences; to begin with, he was in a drug binge when agreeing to the pact.
There's one thing that he can't seem to forget, and that's the witch he has fantasized about and obsessed over since that night, so what happens when he actually comes to meet the witch he thought was just part of his imagination?
The storyline was quick, but it was packed with everything you need to obsess over in a book, passion, action, dark, steamy, and the chemistry between Silas and his witch was so intense!!
The author made me love a genre that I'm normally not a fan of. This book drew me in with intrigue and with the unique mix between the paranormal and the mystical.
This was my first book from N. Isabelle Blanco, and I can say that I fell in love with her unique writing, style, and plot. I will definitely be reading more of her work!!
This author could rewrite the phone book and I would read it. This was just another example of why she is an automatic one-click author for me. PNR romance is usually pretty hit and miss for me, mainly miss, because I struggle with it seeming authentic. I realize it is fiction but for some reason, I need to feel like it could happen in the real-life world. The author gave me that in this book. I found myself lost in the location and the whole New Orleans hoodoo voodoo feel of it.
Hot steamy times, an intriguing premise, and chemistry galore gave this book all the thrills that I could have wanted. I didn't want it to end. There were also some great secondary characters that made me want to dive further into because they had something to them as well. Rumor has it that there might be a story coming for them in the near future and I am here for that as well.
3.5 Stars!!! This is my first book from this author and it was good. I love paranormal reads so I was more than excited to read this story. It's explosive in the very beginning. The sex scenes does not disappoint. Silas has wanted Sin ever since he's dreamed of her and he's determined to have her no matter how much she resist. Sin however, has to try and figure out how to deal with Silas and the coven that's betrayed her. The main characters name isn't Sin, but since it's a secret for most of the story I won't write her name in the review. I enjoyed Sin and Silas characters a lot; I even liked Marie. There was never a dull moment in this story and it was pretty fast paced. The ending was a little less steamy than the beginning, but it was a good ending to this story. I do however, wish the story was a little bit longer but I would give other books from this author a try.
I've gone back & forth about how to rate Cursed because I didn't quite imprint on the main characters, but I ended up having to give it all the stars because the good outweighed the bad. First of all, while I don't always read paranormal these days, I have read many and Cursed is such an original story that I couldn't put it down. Next up is the descriptive genius of Ms. Blanco, who wrote with such rich color describing New Orleans that I felt like I was physically there in person with the possibility of magic sprinkled in throughout. The story was fast paced with so much going on, and yet, I feel like I've only had a glimpse at what's to come. My heart raced while I was on the edge of my seat, and now I'm left feeling like a need more immediately so that's all from me, it's your turn to decide! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I don’t know what I was expecting from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great read overall!
Ten years ago, Silas was a lost broken boy that eagerly sold his soul to make a deal for a better life. After all he thought it was only a hallucination. Little did he realize, the beautiful woman in his vision was coming to kill him, except he wasn’t the only one being targeted.
Deceit brings these two together, trying to survive to find out what went wrong. Discovering he’s transformed into a werewolf, he must learn to adapt to his new and continuously growing strength and power. He’s enraptured with the witch now before him, but she fights his advances at every turn. Plenty of sexual tension in their cat and mouse game. This story will have you flipping pages until the end.

Excitingly Dark “Cursed” is a dark, paranormal tale that takes you into a world of desperation, and magic that is a part of the creole culture. This tale centers around the main character, Silas, who signs a contract out of desperation when he’s a homeless teenager without knowing the price he would have to pay. This tale is magical, and sizzling hot. It takes you down dark alleys and into a world that you have never visited before with drama, sensual appeal, danger and desperation. This exciting tale is well worth the read and I highly recommend that you grab a copy. I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review
WOW! This is one fast paced story that packs a huge punch. It's a fantastic PNR romance that is filled with action, thrills, mystery and a whole lot of steamy goodness! Trust me, you won't want to put this down as you will be enthralled with Silas and his witch.
The characters are phenomenal and the world building is so vivid that I felt like I was right there in the middle of all the action. Some historical characters make special appearances giving us some much needed laughs in all the seriousness. The chemistry between the characters was explosive and left me begging for more.
I absolutely loved this story and I never wanted it to end.
I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed this. The banter between Sin and Silas was amazing. I loved that right from the beginning we jump right into the spice. I’m not going to lie, I wish it was longer and there was more. This whole world and concept was epic. I hope there are more books in this world.
I loved that this took place in NOLA. The little sprinkles of Creole was probably my second favorite part of this book.
My only complaint was the build up to the spicy scene that we get a snippet of in chapter one and that we never find out what it is about Silas that Sin hates so much. She saw something that bothered her, but we never really know what it is.
This is a paranormal romance and while I’m it the biggest paranormal reader I loved this book Silas is a addict and I mean a very bad I don’t even think he functioned much at all and when he was in a state of bacially not knowing what the heck is going on he makes a deal he shouldn’t have Later he realizes he doesn’t know if that moment was real or not but soon finds out it was Indint really want to go in to much of the story because it’s all so much better if you do not know what is going to happen Just grab it and read it You will love it.

I was gifted Cursed by N Isabelle Blanco as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review!
I've never been into paranormal books, until I started reading them by Queen Blanco... I was captivated instantly into Khatiya & Silas story. Grabbed me from the first sentence; "The tombs are coming down around us." and devoured the book.
N Isabelle Blanco's writing is so good and unique and her characters are damaged and crazy...but omg so good... There was lots tension between Silas and Khatiya and they're sexual encounters were hot AF!
Talk about drawing you in! This had me from the beginning and did not let go! I so wanted to be cursed! engaging and developed. I could not have read a better fantasy than this one! Miss Blanco knows how to deliver a spectacularly written story that chucks you on the chin while hugging you close! What a remarkable story! Riveting and arresting! It is dark and it may hold triggers for some but through it all you will be smashed! Love this author. I highly recommend this book!

Ok so I loved the characters and the plot was super original especially in the over stuffed genre that its in. This book wasn't enough for me, once I got a taste of this world and these characters I needed more. I ate this book up like a fat kid on Halloween and once I was done I said more please. I cant wait to see more by this author as this was the first book I read by them and I really liked their writing style. If you like paranormal romance or fantasy anything then you will like this book.
