I was so excited when I saw this recently and I thought to myself that finally, he's going to redeem himself! He's not really a selfish, completely thoughtless, insipid a$$h*le. Yes!
Uh, no...seriously?!
Don't get me wrong, I adore the author, I read almost 20 of her books and average to 4-5 stars. I also, completely enjoyed Into the Deep duet. The ANGST...the douchebaggery of Jake. His utter and complete selfishness but the grovel! I highly recommended it. I figured this book, a bonus material of Jake's thoughts would probably get us into his really *wink, wink altruistic views. Uh, no. He really was a douche and he really couldn't make up his own mind. If anything, I thought his persona was actually worse after reading his thoughts. Arrgghhh.
You see, my wishful thinking while I slowly read the book that maybe...maybe, Melissa was not really his gf and nothing happened between them, lol! Yeah, no. I don't want to read about..."beautiful Melissa" and their sex life. How he's so attracted to her after the Charley debacle. Yeah, no. The duet used to be on my re-read list and I hate to say it, after reading his thoughts...sadly no more. Aaargh. I shouldn't have read this one. :(
Yikes.

Yo siempre extraño a Jake y Charly.
Ay no sé, no sé expresarme completamente jajajaaj.
jake’in bakış açısını okumak güzel olsa da charley’yi yeniden gördüğü o ilk sahnenin bile olmaması beni hayal kırıklığına uğrattı. bu ikisinin aşkı bana hep yarım gelmişti. jake asla charley’yi, charley’nin onu sevdiği kadar sevmeyecekmiş gibi hissediyordum. şimdi sevdiğini bilsem de hala aşkları tamamlanmamış geliyor. barıştıktan sonra mutlu oldukları anlar çok az olduğundandır belki bilmiyorum… bir kez daha bu ikisini kısacık okumak yerine beck ve adını unuttuğum kızın sahnelerini onların gözünden okumayı tercih ederdim. ayrıca jake’in gözünden görmemiz gereken bin sahne varken charley’yle yan yana oldukları üç sayfa falan olması da inanılmaz sinirimi bozdu kssmmsms not: genel olarak melissa’nın yaptığı her şeyi aşırı saçma buldum sırf jake’i affedelim (okuyucular affetsin) diye bu kadar gurursuz yazılmış gibiydi. not 2: sanırım second chance romance’leri çok da hoşuma gitmiyor bu kitapla bunu da keşfetmiş oldum.
I have a special place for this duet and stumbling upon this bonus material is everything to me. My heart is full and reading this again is so nostalgic and give me feelings that I have long forgotten and kept locked.
Sighhhh I just wish there was a chapter on the first time Jake saw Charley again in Edinburgh after all those years.
Now, I'm debating whether to read the first and second book again or not. Lol

Dove right into this one after finishing the duet because I’m so curious as to how Jake ended up in a relationship months before his supposed apology to Charley in Edinburgh.
And this did not disappoint.
Doesn’t mean he wasn’t shit though. And also Melissa, for settling. So much drama that could have been solved by being truthful from the start.
Still, I felt the angst and I felt the fears and I somewhat understand some of the logic. So 3 stars.
It wasn’t enough. Skipped one of the most important scenes, when they first saw each other in Edinburgh. Also, skipped, the next two times they saw one another. If felt like it need abruptly. I thought maybe she’d cover all the major scenes from the book. Nope, just bits and pieces. Such a let down.
Reading Jake’s point of view was intriguing! Tried to compare it to Charley’s. You could tell male from female. They both had a long way to go. But it is always insightful when you have both the hero and heroine’s point of view. Great bonus!
