My Kind of Monster

I wanted to give in to the hunger...
Niklas Bergman stalked in the shadows of the silent woods, a depraved hunter… and I am his prey. I traded one captor that broke my body and soul, for one that threatens to break not only my heart, but the walls that contain the darkness that lives inside of me. He is a beautiful monster, everything I searched for before my capture, the only one that understands my secrets and I fear my heart and mind will not survive him.

I am a monster, I am a monster... I was a monster...
hides a legacy of blood and I will drown her in it myself if that’s what she needs to embrace it. I wanted to use her — no limits, consequences or remorse — but when I set my eyes on her, broken and abused, her enemy became mine. Now I can’t let her go, not until I break her open. Her darkness calls to mine, her demons dance on heathen songs sung by my own and sometimes… prey wants to be prey.

Souls break open. Limits are crossed. Secrets are unleashed.
A monster is born.

What a fabulous debut novel.  My Kind Of Monster is precisely what I am looking for. On my dark scale, it’s dark grey with some black components. Read the trigger warnings; this is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Niklas and Suki meet under a particular situation. Nicolas hears the screams and chooses to help and continues to protect Suki.  Her Demons are a song calling to his demons. It’s very poetic.  The setting is on a mountain peak in the winter. Niklas owns a house and brings Suki back there out of danger. What he doesn’t expect is such an attraction, how much they are both alike, and how perfectly their kinks align which is very rare.  Please note this is not your traditional BDSM.  They are not safe from the danger that is still lurking and waiting patiently.

“Yes. When you screamed in that forest for the first time, your demons howled and mine responded to the call. That was the moment your life became mine, little siren. Do not mistake my actions for kindness.”

The chemistry is phenomenal and so spicy. Dark and gore meet your most desired kinks with no hard limits.  I was waiting and anticipating for the Predator to become the prey.  If you know me, you know this is right up my alley, and I devour every single detail and minute of it. It’s fucking beautiful.

“My body sings and he learned the song, almost like he knew it before it even played.”

My concern is minimal, and the reason I took one star away, there is a small amount of a repetition. Overall it’s a great book that I loved. And look forward to the author's future books.

Main reasons to read My Kind of Monster:

1. A fucked up fairy tale about dark soulmates;

2. The hottest and kinkiest scene that made me question my sanity because reading it i was like "Niklas you can do whatever you want with me!!" 🙈😂;

3. One of the best torture scene i ever read!! Lilith how the hell you came up with that ??!!
( i know, i shouldn't be so excited about it but... 😏😏😌);

4. A vivid and emotional writing.

I've been obsessed with this book from the moment i found out about it thanks to some amazing bookstagrammers and their edits.
I had high expectations and I can say without doubts that it's F.R.E.A.K.I.N.G. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. !!!

There’s something addictive about monsters.
They are raw, true, scaring yet they have a way to charm you with their darkness....

And Niklas is exactly like that.
He is a Monster.
Ruthless.
Lethal.
Yet i completely fell for him.
He made me swoon with his actions, with his WORDS 😍😍😍

And Suki...
Suki is so much more than i thought she would have been.
Through the whole book you can feel her struggle with what happened her, but mostly with her true self...

Lilith Roman created sucha complex characters!! Sucha intriguing world!!

THIS BOOK IS A MINDBLOWING TRAVEL INTO THE DEEPEST THOUGHTS, THE DARKEST DESIRES, THE SCARIEST NEEDS OF TWO BLACK SOULS, BONDED BY FATE.

And it's definitely a must read!!

What is this book?

☝ A dark captor-captive tale which involves dark, complex and fucked-up soulmates.
☝ A lots of steam and kink.
☝ A storytelling which is almost lyrical.
☝ A lots of trigger warnings.

I would have loved it more, if not for the repetition. Some thoughts, some sentences were repeated a loooot of times. Again, a few things were a really longshot. So, two marks against. However, considering this is a debut novel, I'm quite impressed by the writing and all those emotions it stirred.

Buckle up, because I have a lot of thoughts. Off the bat? This won’t be for everyone. Actually, this won’t be for practically anyone… TW for past rape/torture of heroine; on page VERY graphic torture/murder; dubious consent/assault/rape of heroine by hero; two psychopath main characters; a hero who gets aroused by rape; lots of blood/knife play.

Basically, the heroine was being held captive and being tortured by a psycho, only to run into the arms of another psycho - the hero. And he does things to her she begrudgingly enjoys, because she loves pain and darkness.

I thought the concept of the book was interesting and could have been really cool. I love psycho heroes (the hero in this was definitely one of the darkest I’ve read) but you rarely get a psycho heroine as well. She does some hardcore torturing of a bad guy and it was hard to read (gross) but also… kind of cool because he deserved it and she was like “no boo, let ME handle this one.”

Also, the story is told from alternating “him” and “her” chapters until their names are revealed. They are just their darkest fears/desires.

Every once in a while a profoundly beautiful line pops out of the book.
These weren’t confessions of our sins. This was a liberation of our souls to the world they belong in.

or

“You are mine, Miss ___.” [Hero] breaks the silence. “You belong to me forever, and I will imprint on your heart, like a branding iron burning myself in it, and it will be the end of you. There will be no running anymore.” The intensity of his gaze imprints on my soul, sending shivers through my spine.
“You demand my body, you demand my soul, you demand my heart. That hardly seems fair, Mr. ___. I will carry you forever, burnished on my heart while you walk free.”
“Free? That’s where you are mistaken, little siren. You failed miserably. Failed to see how you crawled into my soul the day your broken gaze found mine on the floor of my house. Your demons grabbed me by the throat, demanded my devotion and I Fought it… oh, how I fought it thinking it’s not my nature. I was yours long before you became mine, you just failed to see it.”

*left out their names as you find this out in the book alongside the characters

But overall, the book missed the mark for me for several reasons.

The stilted, formal, unnatural dialogue. I think this is Lilith Roman’s first book, and I could tell. Based on the highlights from it (like the above quotes) she definitely has talent and potential, and if there’s one thing I would change in editing of this book or for future books - it’s the limited use of contractions. The writing felt so awkward and clunky because she was scared to use an apostrophe. “I will not” instead of “I won’t”; “he is” instead of “he’s”; “it is not important anymore” instead of “it’s not important anymore”… do you see what I mean? This was constant.

Repeated phrases / similar POVs. This book is split into hero and heroine POVs but their inner monologues were so similar and in some cases, the repeated similarities pulled me completely out of the story. Ex:

8% in, heroine’s POV: “And I scream! Oh, how I fucking scream.”
13% in, hero’s POV: “My body trembles at the glorious prospect of having to force my dick into her. Oh, how it fucking trembles!”

Like… c’mon. 5% apart?

Overall writing needs some work. I think this will improve in future books (and maybe with more editing?) but a lot of the writing just made me kind of roll my eyes. Like, I know Den of Vipers by KA Knight is not a stellarly written book but it’s so wild and campy that I just loved reading it and was all in. That isn’t how I felt about this book. I was constantly pulled out of the story to roll my eyes or cringe. I hesitate to use the adjective “Wattpad style writing” because I’m sure there’s lots of great, well edited writing on there - but I think you know what I’m getting at.

Some parts made me feel… icky. Are these problematic? I’m not sure. To me they’re like… problematic-adjacent.

For one, the heroine is white but he describes her as: “Her beautiful, big almond shaped eyes, slightly curved upwards in the outer corners, giving her this hauntingly exotic look.” That made me pause and go… yuck.

Also she has an “Asian” name because “my dad was a history buff. Loved the Japanese culture…” That’s just such a weird thing to say to me? In 2021?

Some parts made me go… WTF? This is more about what kinks you’re into. I think it’s safe to say blood play is not mine. So this line was gross, not sexy: “Looking into his eyes, I swallow the crimson maple syrup that is his blood…”

Lots of sex, not very sexy. This is how I felt about Divers Heart by KA Knight - the sex scenes were formulaic and just… not… hot. There was so much sex in this book but I was basically skimming them because they all felt similar and boring. Like The Hating Game, which is a relatively vanilla adult romance, gave me more kitty butterflies than this, because of the steamy build up and style of writing before, during, and after the scenes. In this book, they felt gratuitous.

My kind of monster was a beautiful story. Lilith's writing style was very poetic and lyrical which drew out the setting of the book and the feelings of the characters in the most complex and gorgeous ways🖤🖤
And since this is her debut novel, it was good to witness, how much of tangled webs of emotions her characters were.

Niklas , the bearded mountain man...who was also a bulky, muscled mountain of a man himself, made me hot and tingly. He was a complicated man, but was simultaneously a simple one too. Kind of an enigma.
But!!!
Since I don’t like long beards, I imagined him as

LOL

Suki....was fucked up lol (no two ways about it). Ignoring her long inner monologues for now, I loved the idea of Suki. She depicts all the taboo and dark thoughts and cravings people have...which are normal ....but we tend to judge ourselves for them. It shows her journey of coming to terms with her dark self and then eventually embracing it with Niklas' help. I loved that part of the book THE MOST. Plus the torture scene at the end ....creative, creative🔪

Are you living in an Abusive Relationship?

However, things such as
⚫the inner monologue at some places,
⚫the description about the mountain and the beautiful view
⚫also the description about their inner demons and monsters)
were pretty repetitive... repetitive.... repetitive...

which made the story drag at places. Which is why I am taking off those stars from the rating.

Other than that, Kudos to Lilith for her debut novel. 🖤

I am still swooning from that ending! *MY HEART * From the literal first page I was all in. The primal chase concept that was set in motion from the beginning did things to me and remained a theme throughout the book which I absolutely loved. There are a lot of triggering, brutal things in this story, but it was written so beautifully, they came across as natural. Niklas had certain things in his character arc that I simply adored and just made me love him more. While MKOM was definately hotttt, it was such a dark and gorgeous story about two people finding each other and making their own place in a world that would never accept them. I am a huge fan of themes and aesthetic in a book and the whole rustic mountain, away from the world vibe was done to absolute perfection to the point I could see it. I still can't believe this was a debut, and I am so freaking excited to see what else is produced from this author because she came out of the gate strong and was definately not playing around. Keep in mind, this is a DARK romance, which comes with certain subject matter than some may find uncomfortable. If you do not like dark and disturbing things, you will most likely not want to pick this one up. If you do, however, this book was AMAZING.

Five sparkling snow stars!! ⭐⭐🌟⭐⭐

This book was such an extraordinaire journey, a unique love story and a wild trip to the subconscious levels of the human mind. (It has some triggers for sexual violence and torture, so please take those into account, in case sensitive for such themes). The whole thing is a dark masterpiece I cannot believe is this writer's debut novel! Her writing is vivid and melodic, the storytelling flows beautifully, tackles difficult and challenging themes with respect and brings the characters out of their shell one layer at at time.

I am in awe of the complexity and the depth of both of their personalities and of the multiple levels that were unraveled along the road. It is a story of personal growth, revelations, re-birth, healing and so much more. Things came a full circle and that epilogue left me craving for more...!!

I am in love how the writer's way of painting pictures so vivid it is like you're right there. I could smell the crisp white land, feel the freezing wind on my skin, hear the snow fall from a tree in the far-off distance. The picturesque mountain views had me gasping for breath, and the broody king of that cold winter kingdom had my loins quivering. It was a dark and intense read that had me testing my limits, but good books do that to you, they shake you a bit and leave their mark.

"That sound beckons me to follow; the fear in it is like a fucking siren's song, and the pain vibrating through the soundwaves is even fucking better."

Niklas Bergman is a man with a dark past. The mountain man senses the alluring vibrations of that sound he one nite hears cutting through the silence of the woods of his mountain and the siren's song he hears in it, is nearly painful for him in its temptation. The seductive thrill of the fear that paints the soundwaves white hot crimson, the color of the settling sun above the treetops, has blood running hot in his veins.

"I am the kraken and this little siren landed right between my tentacles."

Suki Knoxx ran from something worse than death, only to stumble upon something that might be even more dangerous. Did she just escape the lair of one monster, only to end up to another's?

"He looks like a man built by the f*cking gods, like he could kill with one hand while drinking tea with the other."

The monster is a creature forged out of stone and thunder, washed in sin and shadows. He has that almost lyrical evil to him, that is so beautiful in its darkness it has you hearing a choir of devils and angels, when graced by his menacing presence. The elements bow down to him in complete submission, his commanding presence ruling everything he sees, hears, and touches, on that snowy mountain.

"His deep, dark blue eyes make me think of the unknown dangers lurking in the depths of the ocean."

Eyes are the windows of the soul and once theirs meet for the first time, the reaction is explosive. Their demons recognize each other immediately, before their conscious minds do. Suki is afraid to look into his eyes of ocean blue. But once she does, she is drowning.

"This is my own type of freedom, freedom to be myself and bathe in the deep, raw, filthy sensations that make my blood run hot."

Freedom is defined by what enables it. It is what has one feeling unhinged, pleasant, excited. We want to fly and we want to play. We want to feel wild, primal and untamed doing so.

Little by little, Niklas helps Suki to find the long-lost spark deep within herself she thought was lost for good. One dirty little secret at a time, they heal. A bone-thrilling chase of a lifetime begins, for the darkest of pleasures imaginable. Unexpected connections are found, life-changing secrets unraveled. All in one magnificent tale told by the poetess that is Lilith Roman .

"Together we become chaos."

Suki & Niklas thrive beautifully in their mutual desires 🔥 Their bloodthirsty demons dance in ecstasy and roar in primal pleasure coming together, completing each other like two pieces of a puzzle

"She is my banshee and I am her monster." 💗

I really enjoyed this it’s got so many triggers but I didn’t actually find it that dark despite the content. There’s a lot of questionable consent dun-con definitely crossing the line into non-con but the context it’s portrayed in kind of made it easier to accept and understand.

Both Suki and Niklas have dark demons and inner urge’s that are not exactly conventional. They're both slightly broken especially Suki Niklas well he was born this way and Suki is the first to reach him emotionally beyond his cold sociopathic persona. Niklas doesn’t feel emotions like other people he never has, fear is the one thing he can experience fully and he has chased the high of it in others his entire life. His inability to form normal relationships has seen him retreating to his own mountain and he has channelled his darker demons into a successful sideline.

When he hears a woman screaming on his mountain it’s not his first instinct to save her. Her screams are a siren song that compels him to take her for his own and finally allow his beast free rein to play. He’s aware it’s wrong but can’t seem to help himself Suki is literally trading one monster for another but in Niklas, she finds the sort of monster she has been forever searching for she just now needs to fully embrace her own true nature.

This also had suspense Suki’s previous captor wants her back and then there’s the relationship forming between Suki and Niklas it’s an intense one that’s for sure. Neither really know what they want nor where this is going and Niklas much to his shock finds himself actually experiencing another’s emotions for the first time ever.

This does have triggers Suki has been previously brutalised and also the scenes between her and Niklas are very graphic and descriptive if you're sensitive to dubious and non-consent this probably isn’t the story for you as this has plenty of that the dynamic between these two is very much Hunter and prey. Also, it’s not BDSM either as there are no safe words here this is just how these two roll each fulfilling something vital in the other and both with demons that instantly recognise each other.

I especially liked the final piece of this when Suki is reborn and embraces her own personal demons spectacularly. This Is definitely a very unconventional and unique love story with two extremely dark souls it’s not going to be for everyone but I really enjoyed it. On the dark scale, I’m going with a dark grey with this one I didn’t find it too dark myself. I’m also very impressed that this is a debut novel I found it well written and very engaging.

I honestly struggle so bad with rating this book. I feel like I waited forever for this one to release and I really wanted to love it so bad. But I have way too many mixed feelings about it. I finished it 5 days ago and I still don’t know what to think about it overall.

The start of the story hooked me in instantly. The vibes, the setting, the intrigue about main characters..everything was so intense and I loved it!
The main couple had instant connection and I loved that the whole story focuses on them. There’s practically no outside world, just main characters, together with their demons, surrounded by vividly described mountain scenery.

But after the great first 20%, I unfortunately started to lose interest.
The story dragged with inner monologue that soon became overly repetitive. I wanted to scream every time I saw monster or demon mentioned.
And the book is pretty fast paced, everything that happens between characters is instant and the whole story spans across two weeks or so. Which was fitting for the story and I didn’t mind it at all.
My biggest issue was that one scene would drag through multiple chapters and on top of that, a single chapter would switch between his and hers POV like dozen times.
So while the story was fast paced time-wise, I feel like it took forever to go from one scene to the next. It was really breaking my reading flow and it was actually a really slow moving read which was totally contradictory. So in the end, it took me days to get from 20% to 60%.

And then, to confuse me even more, things finally picked up in the second half. I devoured the last 35% without a single break!
Last part is hands down a 5 star read for me. The writing flowed perfectly and even had a poetic feel to it at times. The character depth and growth was great and I absolutely loved the ending.

So I’m really really torn about how to rate it.
I know this is author’s debut, and it’s a great debut in terms of storyline and characters. It has so many unique things to it that I haven’t found anywhere else. But at the same time, I just can’t forget the slow moving and dragging parts I had to go through to get to this amazing second part. As I said, some parts were so overly and unnecessary repetitive and maybe just needed better editing or something.

I considered not rating this one and just leaving my review because depending on which part of the story I think about I can rate it anywhere between 2 and 5 stars. I’m settling on a 3.5 stars for now, but since I definitely won’t stop overthinking this I’ll probably end up changing my rating later on.

Books can be hit or miss for readers, more so with DEBUTS but this was clearly a Hit for me.

Lilith can definitely write.

My Kind Of Monster is a a story of discovery, it's dark in parts, it's raw and it's captivating.

Niklas and Suki are cut from the same torturous cloth, broken with inner demons who find their perfect match in each other.

This is an unconventional love story, no sunshine and butterflys to be found. If blood and fear and the unknown float your boat then pick this baby up.

I'm speechless!
This was an amazing story.
It was deeply satisfying and purely pleasurable.

I can't believe it's her debut novel?! Like is she for real?!

What I noticed in this book and what surprised me was the lack of conversation - a dialogue between the main characters - in the proportion we are used to when reading a book written in the first person. I mean it's there but not too much of it.

But don’t get me wrong - it actually thrilled me!!

That inner monologue of theirs in which you actually become acquainted with our main protagonists, their life and the reason why they are as they are, their constant sizing each other and we all know you can learn a lot about a person without saying a word, actions speak louder than words.

Torture and violence are present so be careful but also a lot of hot sex scenes and that sizzling tension between them.

I have only three words for you - read this book!

It started to get cringy.

I am blown away and totally in awe of what Lilith Roman created here!!

Where do I start? The characters are mental. Their demons sing and dance. But only respond to each other. The vicious Viking and his little Siren.
Suki is running from one captor into the clutches of another. Niklas hears her screams and is instantly drawn to his muse. Hunter and Prey let their demons lose. And things get intense!! It’s dark, delicious and twisted.
This book is not for the faint of heart my friends!

Speaking of: The writing style was beautiful and very lyrical! What Lilith Roman did here was amazing!! HER WRITING IS AMAZING ITS SO CAPTIVATING. THE TENSION, THE ATMOSPHERE JUST WOWWWW. I felt like I was there with Suki on that mountain snowed in and surrounded by pine trees and danger!

I still can’t believe this is Lilith’s debut book. Her writing is insanely beautiful 😍

(A quick warning for some people out there: bloodplay, non-con/dub-con, sexual abuse, torture, graphic scenes are very prominent in this one so don’t say you didn’t know and then leave a trashy review later! This is not fair towards the author who poured her soul into this!!)

Little Siren, sing me a song”.

My kind of monster is the first book published by the author, Lilith Roman, and guys, what a debut !!!

The story between Suki and Niklas is one of the most intense I've ever read. Suki manages to escape from her tormentor who tortured her for months, inflicting excruciating suffering, but when she thinks she is safe she ends up straight into the arms of another monster, this even more frightening, the one who manages to sing to her demons.
In this book a phrase that I found terribly and morbidly poetic is always repeated, Niklas very often asks Suki “Little Siren, sing me a song”. Niklas feeds on the screams of his victims, their tears, their crying, but when he hears Suki's cries, everything in him awakens, his demons awaken, attracted by the siren's song.
Suki throughout the book tries to fight what she really is, but in the end she can't help but fall into the arms of her monster, her kind of monster.
This book is a journey towards the discovery of dark desires, carnal pleasures, deep animalistic thoughts of two deviant souls who finally find their home, where they can finally sing the same tune.

I'm honestly blown away. I finished this book earlier today, and I'm still utterly consumed with the world, the characters, and that dark, yet steamy storyline. There are some triggers in this one, so be wary, but HOLY SHIT, it was good! I loved the POVs within chapters, and how it was written.

Lilith Roman may be a new author, and this may be her debut, but you can't tell. Watch out, because Roman is hitting this book world with a rollercoaster that will have you hanging on to every word! A twisted, steamy, dark story that will have you squirming as you turn the page.

I'm definitely a fan!

what. a. book.

📚My Kind Of Monster📚 is a dark, f*cked up beauty of a read. i f*ck with Lilith Romans vibe so much, and so this was a highly anticipated read for me and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!!

all the wonderful tropes included👇

✅captor/captive
✅ruthless and rugged alpha hero 🥵🥵
✅gorgeous lyrical writing
✅a stunner of an aesthetic
✅darkkk romance

the plot👇

so this follows Suki and Niklas. Suki is looking for a connection and mistakenly trusts this guy who then kidnaps her and keeps her locked in his basement to do incredibly f*cked up things. after months of torture, she makes a run for it and escapes, where she meets Niklas running in the woods. he takes her to his home on the snowy peak, where she is somewhat forced to live. these two characters fit together so well, they are literally destined for one another and i loved seeing their journey.

my thoughts 👇

gosh i loved this. like 5 mf stars just for that cover man. i loved the lyrical way of writing and i loved how rugged and raw these characters are (mainly Niklas😺🥵). i can’t say it enough, these characters are made for one another. i 100% loved the aesthetic, the snowy peaks, Niklas, the steam, the spice, Niklas. did i mention Niklas? yeah i think i did lol. around the 85% mark i realized we had gone so far w/o something happening to the villain in the story which normally i would hate how it drew out but i didn’t even f*cking notice. i loved seeing them grow and connect with each other. also it was really hot so ya know there’s that. i wont be forgetting this book for a while, whatta banger!! also for a debut novel?? girl out of the park

Ok, let me just start off by saying I was very impressed with this debut. I absolutely love the idea and the vibes of the book. I don't know why, but there is just something about a cabin in the woods that does something to me. I loved the characters, they were interesting and I loved their connection. I absolutely loved the kink and dark aspects of the book as well.

With that said I did think there was a lot of repetitive usage of certain words. This is a dark romance, typically with dark romance characters are flawed and they are monsters and have demons and are tormented in some way. We don't need a reminder every couple of pages. I'm not sure if it was on purpose or maybe just something that is a learning curve. That was the only thing I wasn't a fan of.

But for a debut book this author did great, so if you like dark romance with stalker, kink and primal play aspects you'll love this!

I'M DNF THIS BOOK. Page 190/388

This shit was disgusting. Ugh. So wrong. So so so wrong.

These are my thoughts while reading it last night:

- this woman has been screaming the whole time. Her throat must be sore by now. I don't know how she speaks at this point.

- he doesn't like when she talks about how other people raped her. Yet he does the same.

- this fucking little shit is an hypocritical. He kills rapist, child abusers, etc. Yet he is a rapist too. He likes when someone is getting raped. He gets hard.

- I think this would have worked if the subjects were written in a different way. But it felt wrong. Not sexy or sensual. Or anything pleasurable to read.

- romance? Don't think so. It was psychological novel.

- I don't mind the kinks. The blood play or knife play. I don't mind the dubcon noncon stuff. But the line between dubcon and rape wasn't even there.

- I've read books with psychopaths and all of those kinks but those were approached different.

IF YOU WANT TO READ ABOUT A PSYCHOPATH WITH BLOOD AND KNIFE PLAY. AND SOME KINKY STUFF THAT ARE FUCKING DELICIOUS READ DEAD MAN WALKING BY GIANA DARLING. A MASTERPIECE.

IF YOU WANT TO READ A HUNTER AND PREY. AND DUBCON NONCON SITUATIONS. FORCED PLAY. READ IMMORAL CONFESSIONS BY R.HOLMES. FUCKING DELICIOUS AS WELL.

The premise of this book was SO good! I mean, nothing super original and a very already heard-of plotline but nonetheless, I was extremely excited to delve into it as I saw multiple positive reviews and I personally LOVE this kind of trope (abduction, possessive H, captive/captor, non/dub-con). Thing is, I definitely got ahead of myself. I was so... disappointed. More than once I got this feeling of reading something written by a teenager. The characters, their motives, the villain, everything was very superficial and boring. First and last book from this author I think!

5 "THE BANSHEE & HER MONSTER" STARS!!!

"Oh, little siren, if only your screams didn't reach my ears...If only..."

I don’t even remember anymore how I first discovered Lilith here on Insta but since day one I have been obsessed with her and this book (and she probably knows at this point lol). My Kind of Monster was so much more than I was expecting but exactly what I was looking for. The first chapter blew me away with how amazing and unique it was and after that I really took my time taking in every detail in this crazy intense love story.

The way our main characters met was so unexpected and what was even more so was the connection they felt straight away. Oh, if only her screams didn’t reach his ears. If only she wasn’t a willing prey to a twisted hunter. If only their demons didn’t sing together…Then so many things could have been different. But there’s really no running or hiding when it comes to those two, they were imprinted in each other without knowing and after the first glance it was already too late to do anything about it.

Yeah, this book was dark, twisted, bloody, messy…but at the same time it was so much more than that. It was also sweet, beautiful, poetic, heartfelt…That’s what was so incredible about it. We could have just read a scene where they did some crazy things and then straight after we got the perfect dose of sweetness with a moment or a thought. That for me gave so much depth to the characters. This book wasn’t dark just to be dark and when the author added feelings and depth she found the perfect balance.

I usually talk a lot about the characters but in this book they were so unique that I really don’t want to give anything away, but I did love them. I loved their darkness, their imperfections, their intensity, their love and their monsters. I felt everything with them and that’s the beauty of it. Also the amazing sex and that epic torture scene were definitely a plus!!!

The writing, the atmosphere, the characters…everything was so freaking beautiful and captivating that I seriously couldn’t get enough. I can’t believe this is a debut novel and now I’m even more obsessed with Lilith (sorry, not sorry) and I can’t wait to see what her brilliant mind will come up with next.

"We are bound together, him and I. Bound by lust and blood. Bound by forces we do not even understand, cravings most people cannot fathom. Bound by fear and pain. Bound by death."

Your monster

So I was live on tiktok one day and Lilith joined, we got to chatting and she told me she had just published a book! So i had to add it to my tbr.
I have never read a dark romance like this, being fairly new to the genre! But boy did i love it!
I loved everything about this book.
The writing is beautiful and captivating. I seriously couldn’t put this book down! Everything about this story felt authentic and natural. The flow, the relationship developments, the character development (especially Suki’s), the spiceeee 🥵🥵🥵🥵
Damn! Just everything!
I went through the motions with this book i really did! But i felt so safe in the hands of the author if that makes sense?
Like i knew I was not going to read a story where i was told the characters suddenly fell in love when it didn’t seem natural for them to. I knew everything that was to come would 100% fit the story and that i was going to love the ending.
Anyway READ THIS!
Okay bye 😁

What a different book! I had never read anything like it! Suspenseful, new and oddly sweet!

I'm so impressed that this is Lilith's first book! She is so talented! Definitely going to read what she writes in the future!

I think boiled down to the core, this book is about being your true self. Knowing what exactly we are and embracing it. Life is too short to live it in someone else's standards. The ones who accept who they are knows how to live a happy life and often times they are the only ones knowing where to go.

This is also a book about conquering our pain and our past. No matter how tattered our past had been, there will always be people who will heal those scars, maybe replacing them with new ones.

I absolutely love Suki and Niklas! Love this snowy mountain and just the whole life style! I want to stay there forever!

This book was addictive, delicious and utterly beautiful!
