After they saved her from a violent marriage years before, Bea Stanz made a vow to fix her own problems and not rely so much on her brother and his fellow operatives at Counterstrike. Her newfound independence has been far from easy, but Bea 2.0 is determined to handle whatever comes her way. When a simple errand exposes a dangerous international kidnapping ring, she turns to the one man who’s taken her protection as a personal mission.
He swore to keep her safe…
Joe “Hazard” Santos left military service and joined Counterstrike after they rescued his sister. Protecting innocent women and children is his new mission, one he won’t fail. The beautiful, impulsive, and passionate little sister of a fellow operative is a task—one who blew into his life like a hurricane. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if she doesn’t want his help.
They will need every resource at their disposal to face this threat, but will all of Counterstrike and a Delta team be enough to succeed?
Born in small-town Texas, Cara Carnes was a princess, a pirate, fashion model, actress, rock star and Jon Bon Jovi’s wife all before the age of 13.
In reality, her fascination for enthralling worlds took seed somewhere amidst a somewhat dull day job and a wonderful life filled with family and friends. When she’s not cemented to her chair, Cara loves travelling, photography and reading.
Love this series and Hazard and Bea's story did not disappoint Beatriz "Bea" Stanz is a divorced mother of an almost 8 year old boy Ryan. 4 years ago, friends of her big brother, the Davenport siblings, saved them both from her abusive ex husband. They have become family to her. Bea struggles with the tight knit extended military family she is now a part of, not really understanding them. She is trying. She is determined to be the mother, Ry deserves. That starts with her making better choices, and standing on her own two feet while she does it.
Joseph "Hazard" Santos, knew Bea Stanz was the women for him the minuet he met her. They have butted heads, he has rescued her from her poor choices, he has bonded with her son, and has been there for her and Ryan for whatever they need. He wants more, but know his girl is not ready. He can see she is trying.
Bea has always been a trouble magnet. A trip out to her bosses estate to deliver some documents, and she knows right away something is seriously wrong. Mrs Cumberland, a friend of the Davenports, represented her in her divorce, got her full custody of her son, and gave her a job at her Firm, as she finishes up her paralegal degree. She will do anything to repay her kindness. With her brother away and the Davenports out of town, she turns to the man who has inserted himself into her and her son's lives, Hazard.
Hazard with the help of Walker “Trigger” Nelson and his Delta Force team (Susan Stoker's, Delta Team Two), who were at Counterstrike helping vet some applicants, know what Bea stumbled upon is big. They read in the Davenports and Twitch. Zoey D, from the Arsenal jumps in, and reads in Tex (Susan Stokers, SEAL of Protection), to help. Bea is insisting on helping. While then men in her life want to keep her safe and out of it, they recognize this is something she needs to do and they just have to keep her safe while she does it.
Bea is placed in Hazards care. They start to explore the attraction they have been dancing around. Bea didn't think she was good enough for Joe, he is making her see otherwise. When Bea catches the eye of the evil man they are trying to bring down. All bets are off.
Loved Bea and Twitch's cousins. Can't wait to learn more about Razer and Scythe MC .
Fast paced, a little steamy, romantic para military suspense. Loved the men and women of the Counterstrike and Arsenal organization. Since I am a Susan Stoker fan, it is that much better seeing favorites from her series doing what they do best.
Cara Carnes books are an automatic buy for me. I had already pre-ordered this book, and was lucky enough to be given a advanced copy and voluntarily leaving a review.
Bea has been working hard to stand on her own, she's almost finished her courses to become a paralegal and has a great job. When she's asked to bring some files to one of her bosses Evaline Cumberland she doesn't hesitate. What she finds at the gated community disturbs her greatly. Evaline's reaction to her even more so. The secret pass of of something tells her something was very wrong. Leaving the area the only person she thinks to call is Joe 'Hazard' Santos. Hazard has always been there for her and her son Ryan.
Hazard and a Delta force team are testing possible hires for Counterstrike. They need a specific level of expertise to handle dicey situations. They are quickly finding that many can't make the cut. Bea's call comes at a time when they are ready to stop for the day. When she arrives they settle in to eat and take a look at what she has.
The results of the data on the USB using HERA has flagged the Arsenal, who is shorthanded at the moment, and Tex is brought in to assist. After gathering as much intel as they can about the situation, Hazard and Bea head home. Well his home, as they've decided Bea could be in danger.
The attraction between these two is off the charts steamy and as this story unfolds that only gets more intense.
With most of Counterstrike involved, the Delta team and Tex this investigation swiftly moves forward. Ethan and Milos are involved as well as Victoria as they identify the key players. Now they have to get everyone involved safe and get rid of the bad guys.
I love the way Cara weaves these stories, they are intense, suspenseful and action-packed as the level of heat between Bea and Hazard escalates.
I really hope Cara continues to contribute to this series, I love seeing Susan's teams along with the Arsenal's crew in these Counterstrike tales.
I love how far Bea has come in the last few books, she gives hope to women everywhere and she is far stronger than she believes. She may have been knocked down, but she is not out, Hazard and Counterstrike may have helped her to her knees and eventually her feet but she is now standing tall, with a spine of steel and determined to be in control of her future...no matter how scary that may be. You cannot help but be proud of her when she realises someone else (or lots of someone's) may be in trouble, she is determined to pay that help forward, but is brave enough, strong enough and smart enough to ask Hazard for the help she knows she will need. She is in awe of the warrior women around her, what she doesn't realise is that she is just as strong, just as amazing and just as worthy as them...she just has a different but equally important skill set. That skill set allows her to fit into the Counterstrike team like a missing puzzle piece. Joe is determined to help Bea see her worth and if that also allows him to show her how much he loves her too, then that will be a bonus. He knows she is his to protect, to worship, to love, but is a true gent...he never rushes her or pressures her, just supports her. Standing beside her in life but not hesitating to defend her from danger - Wow! Another Counterstrike hottie who steals your heart! Bea is so lucky! I love this series and we are so spoilt to have the crossover with The Arsenal and Susan Stoker's Special Forces World, especially Delta Team Two and everyones favourite Tex! To also have this on Kindle Unlimited is just an added bonus, I am really looking forward to seeing more of the new recruits too...especially 'team leader' number 2!
Enjoyed it more than I thought. Not much happened though.
I didn’t read this book for ages as Bea came across as horrid in other books, especially her brother’s, it put me off reading it. Bea is a hard character to like to be honest. I know Hazard/Joe kept saying what a great mum she is, I didn’t agree. In her sons ten years he’s seen his mum being beaten and abused by his dad and other boyfriends. She didn’t think he needed counselling or help at all, and as a consequence her poor boy is traumatised and has a difficult time trusting men. She doesn’t help with her mother and her brother has to do it all. So it’s quite hard to believe that she just changes overnight in to a lovely person.
On with the plot. Bia stumbles across a dangerous gang with a evil agenda. Counterstrike are involved and Bia is in the middle of a dangerous game. Hazard/ Joe is falling for her and is determined to keep her safe. Especially when the leader of the gang develops an interest in her, and he won’t be denied.
It’s really drawn out and there’s not much happening. I kept waiting and hoping that it got better. While everyone is plotting how to win against the gang, Joe and Bia are falling in love. I ended up liking Bia, Joe is so sweet with her and he helps her to turn her life around. As everyone else who loves her treats her like she’s incapable of doing anything.
One final note. I’ve said it before, the Arsenal plot is so far fetched with their endless finances and crazy gadgets, and their unbelievable power. In this one it got really silly!!! After I had finished rolling my eyes, I did enjoy this book.
This is a great story. I love all Cara Carnes books and this is no exception. Bea is Twitch's sister. Hazard (Joe) works with Twitch at Counterstrike, and he helped her out of an abusive relationship. She is working for Mrs. Cumberland, who was her divorce attorney. While working, she is asked to deliver some papers to Mrs Cumberland 's house in a gated community. When she arrives, she notices it is guarded by armed men and the sidewalks are patrolled with armed men with dogs. When she gets to Mrs Cumberland's house there are 2 armed guards at the door and cameras inside the residence. Mrs Cumberland pretends not to know Bea and slips her a USB drive and some papers. Bea realizes something is wrong and calls Hazard. She brings him the USB drive to see what's happening to Mrs Cumberland. It seems Bea has walked into an armed takeover of Mrs Cumberland's neighborhood by Guerillo, a known black market dealer along with mercenanries. Bea is thrown into an unknown world as an operative once she is seen by Guerillo and catches his eye. She along with Hazard and the rest of Arsenal and Counterstrike must now save everyone while taking down all involved. This story is fast paced. Hazard's protective streak and love of Bea is revealed when she is thrown into a world she knows nothing about. Bea's love for Hazard and her strength is shown in how she handles the obstacles thrown her way. Once you start this story you won't want to put it down. I received this ARC book for an honest review.

When Bea catches the eye of the evil man they're trying to bring down he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe. A fast paced story, with lots of suspense, action, twists and turns, laughter and romance.
There is nothing like a child’s love, and truth from their little mouths that will cut you deeper and make you want to be a better person, this is what Bea experience but in a public setting, though the love for her son makes her want to be a better person and get her life, their life on track.
Hazard, is ex-military, a loving brother that carries the guilt of not protecting his sister. But after meeting Bea and her son Ryan he knows that he wants to be apart of their life.
Hazard. Is protective yet willing to let Bea be who she wants to be. Bea, tries hard to do the right thing and be a good person, it is that goodness the leads her to stumble across a situation that will in all Counterstrike personnel, Trigger and his crew from Susan Stoker’s world and all the Arsenal team.
This book has the love, the suspense, and the end that makes you fall in love with Cara Carnes and her amazing story telling. Grab the book and indulge in Cara Carnes. If you have never read Cara before you are missing out.
Having survived a bad, abusive marriage and making bad choices thereafter, Bea relied on her big brother and his brothers-in-arms to keep her safe again & again from all the fall-out. Bea wants to do better, after all she has a son Ryan growing up fast and looking to her for guidance.
When the attorney (who represented Bea in her divorce) and later became her boss is held prisoner, Bea knows she has to help. She turns to the one person who has never let her down and always has her back...Hazard.
Bea took Hazard by storm. One look and Hazard knew this little Hurricane was all his, he just has to convince Bea to give their budding love a chance. Will big brother kill Hazard when he figures out what’s going on? Or, just give him a good, ole fashion beat down? Join the crew of Counterstrike (and The Arsenal) as they do what they do best...Protect the Innocent by any means necessary.
Another awesome read from Cara Carnes. I love her Arsenal series and now Counterstrike. In this one we get to see some of our favorite characters again. They have such a wonderful family interaction. The love and protection from this group just warms my heart.
Bea is a single mom just trying to get her feet back under her. She felt so inadequate and just the sense of needing to be more for her son. It was hard to see and beautiful at the same time. Somehow she gets mixed up in something she shouldn't but she can't turn a blind eye. For once a heroine did what she should and didn't try to handle it totally herself!
Hazard to the rescue! He's been a constant in Bea's life and they grow closer and closer. He's just the right amount of strength to let Bea do what she needs to do while standing behind her in support.
This is a well written, suspenseful novella featuring the Counterstrike team of former Delta soldiers with Susan Stoker’s Delta Team Two and several characters from ‘The Arsenal’ (Cara’s para-military series) making appearances as well. I liked how Bea was working to take charge of her life, becoming self-reliant and setting a better example for her young son Ryan. I enjoyed her interactions with Hazard and the slow burning attraction that both were trying so hard to ignore! In addition to an exciting and gripping storyline, we’re treated to some spectacular kickass action by several formidable women – Angie, Victoria, Aspen and Mia. The story also features some drama and intrigue, conflict, violence, special ops action, quite a few laughs and some very steamy scenes. I received an Advance Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I cannot professed enough how much I enjoy reading the Arsenal and now Counterstrike series. Cara Carnes is so good in creating wonderful fully developed characters and a labyrinth of world building. At times it could be fantastical (esp. the technology bits) but I willingly checked my "suspension of disbelieve" each time I read one of Cara Carnes books.
Loving Bea is another exciting and hot read for me. As much as I enjoy the banter and interactions between Bea and Hazard, I squealed in delight each time I see cameos of past characters made an appearance. I was glued to this book from the moment I start to read it and I cannot wait for the next one.
Thank you for the advance copy, the thoughts above are of my own.
A woman trying to find her place in the world and the man who just wants to be there for her every step of her journey. That is Bea and Hazard. After escaping a violent marriage, Bea wants nothing more than to prove to herself and to her son that she is a strong independent woman but found herself relying more and more on Hazard and the rest of the Counterstrike guys. But even while trying to distance herself from them, she still finds herself running to them for help when she discovers her employer is in a desperate situation. A community under siege. Children kidnapped. And Bea finds herself smack dab in the middle of it. But Hazard and Counterstrike are right there with her, every step of the way. I love how Hazard is with Bea. The respect and tenderness he shows her while encouraging her to spread her wings is just what every woman wants in her man. And even when Bea is surrounded by the kickass women of Counterstrike and Arsenal (as well as a cameo from Aspen and the guys from Susan Stokers Delta Force series), she still proves to herself that she is a survivor and she is mighty. This book will keep you reading from the first page to the last.
Cara Carnes is one of my favorite storytellers. Loving Bea is another in a long list of her books that will go on my keep shelf. Bea is a single mom learning to stand on her own two feet and Hazard is fantastic partner because he gives her the space and support she needs. Thier romance is complicated by a plot to control leading members of society. Caught up in the efforts to stop thier attempt, Bea realizes she's stronger than she thinks and Hazard proves there is nothing he won't do for her and her son. This is a suspense filled read with well developed characters you will love.
Another winner from Cara Carnes. The author adroitly mixes characters from three different series to give us a pulse pounding romantic suspense. Joe may be the perfect man. He’s patient and kind. It doesn’t hurt that he is all buff –n- tough and stuff. Bea is bent but not broken and having survived the storm she’s come back better and stronger than even she knows. Watching these two work together to save others is amazing but watching them come together in love is transcendent. Totally recommend.
After several problems in her life, Bea struggles to make better choices and fix her own problems . Hazard and her friends from Counterstrike continue to help any way they can.
Unfortunately Bea finds herself in the middle of a dangerous situation not of her making. I love that she recognizes she needs help and turns to Hazard for help. I enjoy the balance of the protective men, smart women, and the chemistry Mr. Carnes brings to her books and characters! Well written, great plots, great addition to the series!
I love Cara Carnes work. Here books are interesting, full of well written characters and in this series chock full of visitors from other series, all well written and easily integrated into the story. These are not token visits but genuinely part of the story. It is wonderful to see Hazard and Bea finally together, and to see how Bea has got back on her feet and how her courage has grown. Cara Carnes writes the best stories that always leave you with a thirst for more. Wish she could faster. Curious about our biker club also.......just sayin'
This was quite hard for me to get into... it almost felt like I had missed a prologue and the first couple of chapters. I felt that I really didn't 'know' Bea. At first, she seemed almost TSTL... but, there was where I needed way more detail of her backstory.
I felt that it was almost too fast of a read... that I was missing a lot of plotting... I guess, just not enough detail for me.
Always lovely to get a cameo from the Arsenal crew! And Tex of course!! Tex - truly, that man never sleeps!
I absolutely love all of Ms. Carnes books. What she does so well in Susan Stoker's world is use so many of her characters well and stay true to their personalities. Ms. Carnes also used her Arsenol crew as well making this book a wonderful collaboration. I don't know how she kept everyone as involved in the story. I loved seeing the evolution of Bea because she wasn't one of my favorite characters and that's ok. This book had all of my must haves for a ten star story. I highly recommend it.
This book deserves 10 stars!! I’ve been looking forward to Bea and Hazard’s book and it did not disappoint. It had the love, the suspense, the feelings. It also had the laughter and joy. I LOVE how all the characters from Arsenal and Counterstrike and Susan Stoker’s world come together so seamlessly. Once I started this book, I could not put it down till I finished. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out!!!
Excellent read. Love this series by Cara. There's plenty of intrigue, danger, heat and humor as well. Bea is a mom who has had bad luck with men, especially her ex-husband. Joe (Hazard) has been her anchor and looking after her and her son Ryan. When she unwittingly becomes mixed up in something everyone is there to rally and protect her. Loved it. HEA. Received this book free for an honest review.
This entry into the Counterstrike series is the story of Twitch's sister Bea and Mari's brother Hazard. Bea has not made good choices for male role models for her son in the past, but Hazard is different. Wanting to be better leads her to help the Counterstrike team with op to save her boss. It was great to see The Arsenal and Susan Stokers, delta guys along for the ride also!!!! Lovec this story. 5 stars ❤❤❤❤❤
I grabbed onto this with both hands especially since I do wait on those that come from this author. Just like the title we do love Bea and we are also invested in what happens. Then there is Joe who is after our hearts also. As the two come together in this we are swept away with them. Stubborn is part of this one along with the heat it will take to turn that around. I got so wrapped up into this one I forgot all else until I had to come up for air.
Bea has been in the Counter Strike family for a long time but only on the periphery and she doesn’t fully understand what they do. But she begins to understand when she goes to Hazard for help. This book is a well written story and it kept me engaged from start to finish. This is a fast paced, nonstop action, wild ride that is punctuated with hot, sizzling romance and an awesome happily ever after!
Love this series and Hazard and Bea's story didn't disappoint! There's plenty of action, danger, suspense, and feelings. Great characters from Arsenal and Counterstrike and Brain and the Delta's and we can't forget Tex from Susan's world made this a great read. Cara Carnes puts you in the story and I didn't want to put the book down till I was done. Can't wait to where Cara takes us next.
First off let me just say that I love love love the book and second I way you didn't have a weak women who has to be help and she was not rape and messed up I can go on and on about this book I just hope you have plan for the New characters in this book cause I want to read more about them all BNP
This is the 4th book in the series and once more the author didn't disappoint. Bea and Hazard are meant to be together. Its such a sweet story wrapped up in all the vibe that is counterstike! Guns blazing , love and laughter this series just gets better and better. Add to that appearances from the arsenal and you have it all!
Bea and Joe had known each other for a long time. Now he was bodyguard for her and her son. They had sparks between them, but they were taking it slow. Bea had gone to deliver some papers to one of her bosses and uncovered some military personnel. When she called Joe and told him he had her come to the company he worked for.
Loving Bea, this is Bea’s and Joe’s ( Hazzard) story. Bea has made some bad choices in life including her ex husband. But now she has changed. It is Bea 2.0. Hazzard has been at her site from the takedown of her ex. This book is as all Cara’s book one hell of a ride. Great suspense and hot love. I recommend.
I didn’t think I would like Bea from her role in the other books, but she was a great lead and Hazard was a perfect match to her. Meeting Mia was a hoot and I hope she gets her own story. The men of the story from all teams and companies are great as always and their dynamic is tangible. Another good read!
