Life on the road is good . . . Until he meets her and realizes what he’s missing.
Westin Farr has been focused on one thing. To match his dad’s perfect 100-point record in professional bull riding. It’s getting closer; he can feel it. Although he misses his dad, life is good. Westin spends his days on the road, his nights bull riding, and his free time with his former college rodeo buddies—the Original Six. But when he meets the feisty Silvia Diaz, Westin finds that his lofty goals might not be so important after all.
The last thing Silvia wants to do is ‘work on herself’ at Broken Hearts Ranch in the tiny town of Lost Creek, Texas. And the last thing she needs is a cowboy sweet-talking her into staying. She agrees to give the place one week, one week only, and then she’s returning to normal life. Not even a bull rider who seems to look straight into her heart can change her mind . . . until he does.
Welcome to Lost Creek Rodeo!

I'm a big fan of the Lost Creek Rodeo setting and loved getting to know the bull rider, Westin, much, much better. According to country songs, some cowboys are good at loving and leaving a woman, but Westin is a gentleman and as loyal and honest as they come--a salt-of-the-earth type of guy. His truck is as old as his hat and he often sleeps under said truck. He's a very charming and hard working character and the perfect match up for feisty Latina, Silvia. She's a spitfire and determined to get out from under the thumb of her overprotective older brother, who just happens to be one of the Belltown Six Pack pro baseball players! I loved her spunk and sass. This mashup of characters from different series, as the Prosper family makes appearances too, warmed my heart.
This story is one that gradually wormed its way right into my heart, with the wide skies, horses, first country experiences, and swoony sparks. I could picture the rodeo events and almost held my breath with those terrifying bull rides.
Although each character has issues to overcome in this series, their challenges aren't too heavy. I love the bits and pieces that each installment adds to build this town into something special. And as an added bonus? This book has recipes for guacamole AND barbecue sauce and I was craving some good food while reading.
Content: mild language; mild moments of violence/peril due to rodeo
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
I love when the characters from these series collide. This book focuses on Sylvia Diaz, sister to Axel Diaz of the Belltown Six. Sylvia has some issues with anxiety, and with their father's abandonment. Really, she's just a woman trying to find her place in the world. Her brother has been trying to take care of her, but what she really wants is to find her own way. At Broken Hearts Ranch, she starts to find it.
Westin Farr lives for rodeo, is no muss, no fuss, and often sleeps under his pick-up truck. Somehow Sylvia with all of her fire, gets under his skin. I liked how Westin and Sylvia complemented each other. He supported her, but didn't rile her up.
Full of humor, flirting, and finding yourself, this was a great read. I especially loved Westin and Axel's interactions near the end.
Content: clean (some kissing, no violence, mild language-d and h)
Romance, clean, contemporary; Series but stand alone read Westin and Silvia's story was a fun romance between two characters that both had issues. Westin, wanting to match his father's past record and continue riding bulls, is injured early in the novel, and is hoping to continue to chase his dreams and aspirations. Silvia, at the Broken Hearts Ranch to recover from her many failed relationships and try to heal from stress, and focus and succeed in her life, is not sure she wants to be there, but after a few meetings with group and individual therapy, realizes she can succeed away from her overprotective famous baseball playing brother.
Westin and Silvia, have thes cute moments that help them see each other for who they 'are', and for the things they both want in their futures. Secrets, although not bad ones, threaten their fledgling relationship, and they both have to 'see' what is really there for them both as they thing about and decide on what is really important to each of them. Sylvia adjusting to Westin's Southwestern manners, and him adjusting to her forthright manner, and them both working through the attraction they feel for each other.
Strong main characters, and fun cameos from characters in other novels, and of course the western setting on the Broken Hearts Ranch made for a perfect, fun, sweet romantic read. Love the series and the connections between all the series, and the characters in this one.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review, my opinions are my own. More of a 3.5 for me as a reader.
Loved it! I really loved all the characters. Silvia and Westin are a sweet couple with great chemistry. I loved how Silvia learned to work through her issues on her own. This is a really sweet, clean romance.
Didn’t want to put it down! Loved this third book in the Lost Creek Rodeo series. The romance is great! I also like the attention given to the healing aspects of Broken Hearts Ranch. This book touched on co-dependent relationships. There wasn’t as much ‘therapy’ advice in this book, but still some good awareness brought to creating healthier relationships. It was nice to see characters from a previous series in here as well. I enjoyed the growth Sylvia experienced as a person and Westin’s support. Great couple! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
As I’m thinking about this whole series, I’m realizing that I love the way that the female characters aren’t perfect. They all have issues, that’s why they go to Lost Creek Ranch. And they all grow tremendously through these books. I love that! Another thing I love is seeing the original Bell Town Six Pack pop up in the stories.
This one features Sylvia, she’s Axel Diaz’s sister, if you’ve read the Bell Town series. (If not, you’d better! :)) Sylvia started out the book with quite an attitude. But I guess it’s not surprising with the way her life had gone. She goes to see Kellie at Lost Creek Ranch for help with her anxiety and panic attacks. I loved the way she learns that she is okay all on her own. She doesn’t need a guy to be okay. And her cooking was one of my favorite parts of the book. Making me happy that her recipes were at the end.
Westin isn’t perfect either. He is a nice guy. I loved the way he appears in Sylvia’s life just as she needs someone the most. She’s walking down the road in Texas, in her high heels, trying to get away from her brother. West was able to convince her that she should go to Lost Creek Ranch, not the airport.
I loved all of the rodeo in this one. It just made me happy. And Westin’s rodeo buddies are great too. I can’t wait to read all of their stories!
I’m really thinking that Kellie needs her own story! I hope the authors give her one as part of this series.
I was sent an e-copy of Rough Stock as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
Welcome back to The Broken Hearts Ranch. A place for all women to come and find respite from any personal loss, heartache, struggle, sorrow, trials, etc. that they might be facing. I have loved the strength I see in these women, even though they may not see it in themselves just yet. This is book three in the series, and I truly admire how well written these books have been. Three different authors are each writing two of the six books. You can tell that they did some serious research and discussion in developing these characters, this healing ranch as well as the therapist Kellie. Speaking of Kellie, she is one of my favorite characters who appears in all of the books. She's so great with the women who come to stay at her ranch. She welcomes them and offers friendship and helps them develop trust with her so that they can heal. I love the activities built into the ranch therapy to help the women. To not sit and wallow and become deeper in their despair but that they are given several opportunities to work outside and outside of their normal lives which helps lead to the start of their healing. So good.
Silvia is our feisty heroine in this book. If you've read the previous sports series that these authors have done, she was a secondary character to her brother Axel Diaz, baseball star in Charming the Shortstop. She is struggling and needing to find a way to express herself and what is causing her anxiety and panic attacks. When she meets Westin on the highway, I knew their relationship was going to be great. They balance each other out nicely. Westin was easy to like right away. I loved his gentle demeanor and kindness. He was easy for others to trust and turn to when they were in need. Exactly what Silvia needs. Someone she can trust and who won't push her but be there when she is falling or standing strong. I enjoyed Silvia's character as well. I didn't connect with her as quickly and easily as I did Westin but I cheered her on the whole way. I could feel her inner struggle and could see her strength and hoped that she could come to trust Kellie and Westin and learn to trust herself!
I'm truly loving this series. If you enjoy books about characters who are flawed, struggling, who need a friend, who come to find peace and strength, with a dash of sweet romance sprinkled throughout, this book (and series) is for you!!!
Content: Clean. Trigger warning: Silvia has a couple panic/anxiety attacks and there is some talk about other characters struggling with anxiety. The author wrote it in a very sensitive manner but just in case this is something that can trigger you, know that it is in here. There are some kisses but nothing further. A couple very mild swear words (think cowboys and rodeo).
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I’ve enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. I found myself, at the beginning, kind of wishing that the heroine wasn’t headed to Broken Hearts ranch as a “patient”, simply because I think it would be tiresome if the entire group of cowboys/friends all met their ladies there and while said ladies were receiving treatment or therapy for issues. I was glad to see this one break the mold a bit, but I hope the other books in the series can break the mold entirely and find a different way to include the Ranch’s characters. I also want to point out that, though the title sounds like it may be an erotic novel, it is actually a “clean read” and rough stock is a rodeo term related to the more dangerous events and livestock at rodeos. Just in case anyone needed that clarification... 😂
Are you ready for more cowboys and rodeo? Westin is a true cowboy--his truck, hat, and boots are old but well-loved, and he sleeps under his truck. Yep, not in his truck but under it. Westin is also a true gentleman--and not just because he opens doors for women, but in the way he listens to and treats them with respect. He's a bull rider, like his father, and his goal is to match his father's perfect score of 100 points.
Silvia Diaz is tired of her older brother Axel Dias, of Belltown Six Pack fame (Charming the Shortstop), running her life. She certainly doesn't want to go to Broken Hearts Ranch, which she thinks is for "addicts and women who are one step away from jail" for several weeks. Thankfully, Westin sets her straight about Kellie and that the ranch she runs is a place women go to heal, and get a second chance.
I loved Westin from the start--he's honest and trying to do his best for his mom and sister, but it took me awhile to like Silvia. She acted too much like a spoiled brat for me in the beginning, considering she's 24 years old. And she wasn't at all nice to Westin, who was trying to be helpful. I liked the changes that Silvia made as she spent time with Kellie and the other women at Broken Hearts Ranch--she became a little less angry and defensive. I liked that she discovered a way to be independent from her brother, and learned that she could make it on her own.
I'm enjoying the stories about the women who go to Broken Hearts Ranch as much as I'm enjoying reading about the rodeo guys. All of them have things they have to work through, but being in a place with someone like Kellie to help them work through their problems and give them coping mechanisms to use when they leave is a great addition to the stories.
I love the relationship all the guys in the Original Six have. It's one of the things I loved about the previous sports series--The Belltown Six Pack, and Northbrook Hockey Elite. The guys have a strong brotherly bond and are there for each other. I love seeing the guys from the other series pop up in the Lost Creek Rodeo stories. Oh, and let's not forget the recipes that are at the end of the books.
I received a complimentary copy to review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Are you ready for more cowboys? Here is book three in the Lost Creek Rodeo series. I don't think you have to read these books in order, but I think you will be much happier if you do. These authors take turns writing the books but the characters they write about all interconnect. In this book, Silvia's brother is from a previous series. It definitely gives all these books a feeling of continuity, community and family.
Westin is a genuinely nice guy. He is motivated as a bull rider by his father and his hopes to reach his record and level. I liked Westin's determination and his kind support of Silvia, even when she wasn't so nice to him.
Silvia is a character I feel I didn't fully understand. I could feel her frustration with her brother and I get having panic attacks but I didn't altogether buy into her reasons for conflict with Westin. Silvia was on a journey to self discovery though, finding independence and confidence along the way. That was satisfying.
This was a nice addition to this ongoing series. I love reading about these cowboys because they are rough and tough but kind and good as well. They make great love stories! I'm looking forward to the next one!
I love the characters of Lost Creek. The Broken Hearts ranch is such a place of healing and wisdom. Silvia has so much growth throughout the book. Westin is GREAT! He is honest, strong, and persistent. An AWESOME read!
I'm a series reader. I read so quickly that it goes too fast and I want more pages to delve into a story and more time with wonderful characters. The series that I've read with Heather Moore and Rebecca Connolly and Sophia Summers have been fantastic because not only do I get SIX books in a story but with a few hints here and there and a big time appearance in Rough Stock of people we've already read about (as well as from some of the author's other books) I get 18 plus books! It's amazing. I love Westin with his sleeping under his truck to save money and maybe other reasons and his taking care of his mom. Silvia is a strong willed woman with skills that can take her far if she can stand on her own two feet without her brother. Can they be together? Clean romance, fun family dynamics, crazy exes, bull riding action, and more people I'd like to have in my life, definitely recommend and can't wait for the next one.
An undeniably great read. Sylvia and Westin—almost insta love. Their initial meet was almost hilarious. After a few days at Broken Hearts Ranch their attraction to each other was undeniable. But of course as per the usual romance bumps in these stories appear and the couple have to work around them. A good lesson in codependency helps Sylvia with her relationship with her brother as she sets her boundaries. She proved to be one tough cookie which West loved. West himself is such a sweet guy. He proved to be very patient waiting for Sylvia to come around. I love all the characters in this series. Each member of the Original Six are fantastic and very supportive of each other. I got a kick out of listening to their banter and texts to each other. It was nice catching up with the characters in previous books as well. An undeniably great read.
An enjoyable story of discovery, romance and cowboys.
I really enjoyed the characters from other books ( Belltown Six Pack and One Summer Day). To me it just brings out the characters from those books and fleshes them out more and adds a whole new dimension to the new characters in this book. It makes the world created by the author all the more real as you read.
Well developed characters and plot that is worth the read. This book is the third in the series but can be read as a stand alone. But recommend them all.
I really enjoyed this book. Westin is a great all around nice guy, always trying to help other people. I thought his "stay out of my business" remarks concerning his relationship were a little more rough than the rest of his personality. However, for the purposes of the story it worked. I love that Silvia is learning how to stand her ground and figure out how to make a life FOR herself and not just to be defiant. I also liked learning a little more about Kellie's story, and seeing bits of the other rodeo friends.
I loved everything about this book — bringing in characters from the fabulous Belltown series; the fun and spunk of Silvia; the sweet and kind Westin; the group texting (one of my personal favorites); and the tackling of some harder issues, like losing loved ones and addiction.
A clean, fun romance that pulls you in right from the start, this can be read alone or as part of the awesome Lost Creek Rodeo series!
This was a very fun story to read. It was great to get to know Silvia better and see her step out on her own and be more independent. I loved how she was able to break off from close family with love instead of being blunt, mean and in your face. Love matters! Westin was a bull rider going after his dream of a 100 point ride. When Silvia came along he realized that there are things in life more important than rodeo. He was able to help Silvia in her struggles as well. After some hardships and struggles they were finally able to have their happily ever after. I really loved that the author brought in characters from another series to tie all of these books together. Can't wait for the next book in this series to come out. I was given an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I wasn't sure I was going to be able to like Silvia when I started the book, but I shouldn't have doubted one of my favorite authors- I quickly grew to empathize with her and her struggles of developing as an individual outside of her brother's influence. I enjoyed seeing her relish her independence and take a chance on new endeavors. Westin and Silvia have great chemistry and their friendship and romance develops naturally as they get to know each other and feelings deepen. Westin has his own issues of working through various injuries while trying to match his father's perfect bull riding score, all the while feeling drawn to Silvia at Broken Hearts Ranch. I quickly became invested in the characters and felt connected to their emotions as they learned new life lessons. A great addition to the series and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Heather B. Moore, Rebecca Connolly and Sophia Summers continue their collaboration in the Lost Creek Rodeo series. It is a smooth blend between books and reads with great continuity; as such, I can't differentiate individual writing styles between the books. Rough Stock is the third book in this series and is penned by Heather B. Moore. She brings us the story of Westin, a professional bullrider, and Sylvia, a young woman trying to find her own way in the world without assistance from her famous brother, through a therapy program at Broken Hearts Ranch. Both West and Sylvia enjoy each other's company, but with such a wide chasm between their personal backgrounds, will they find their HEA ending? Rough Stock can be read as a stand-alone novel, but reading the books in this series in order will enhance your enjoyment (as well as explain the title "Rough Stock"). It is a clean contemporary western romance with great entertainment value. 5 stars!
This third book in the Lost Creek Rodeo series did not disappoint. Silvia feels smothered by her famous baseball player brother, which at times drives her to make bad choices; and Westin is recovering from a bad breakup. When they meet, their perspectives of dating change and both start wondering if it's worth pursuing another relationship. Silvia moves in to the Broken Hearts Ranch to try to break her co-dependency with her brother and gains a new appreciation for rodeo and ranch life. Westin tries to decide if it's worth getting to know Silvia better if he's just going to be traveling from rodeo to rodeo and she might eventually go back home to Seattle. I enjoyed this book. The main characters went through significant changes in the course of the story and their banter was quite witty. This was definitely a fun read.
How fun for Silvia (sister of Axel Diaz from Charming the Shortstop) to get her own story. After a spectacular panic attack in front of hundreds at a charity gala, Sylvia is shipped-off begrudgingly to Broken Hearts Ranch to heal. But she doesn't want to surround herself with drug addicts and psychos to talk about her insignificant issue. In trying to hitchhike back to the airport she runs into Westin Farr, a bull-rider in town for the rodeo, but a regular visitor at the ranch. He convinces Silvia to give it a week's trial and forms an instant friendship with her brother at the same time (which was easily one of my favorite scenes in the book). As Silvia and West form their own tenuous friendship, she has to find out who she really is without her helicopter brother running her life. When she starts to find her way, she must decide if her new life can include love as well. I loved Silvia in the first book and this book lived up to my anticipation. Both characters have things to figure out and family issues, but together they make each other better and more whole. I'm loving the sweet romance of Broken Hearts Ranch and can't wait for the next cowboy in line.
Sylvia Diaz’ story is pretty interesting and her character arc is a good one. At the beginning of the story, I found that I didn’t like her much. But as her true character came more into focus, I found that I liked her. I liked her bravery, her spunk, her vulnerability.
Westin has, to a certain extent, lived his character arc before we meet him. He has had a death of a parent, a stalker girlfriend and some issues of his own to deal with. The details are filled in as the story progresses. There aren’t a ton of details, but they are significant.
This book focuses on co-dependency and a bit on panic attacks. Another great book in the series!
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
I enjoyed getting to know Silvia and Westin. I quickly became immersed in their story and therefore I wanted to read this story in one sitting. Unfortunately, life happens and I was rudely interrupted.
Moore writes in such a way that it is easy to visualize the characters, the settings, and the emotions and feelings of her characters.
I was given an advance copy of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. These novels are all so unique and different.
This book can be read as a stand alone, but to really understand and appreciate the secondary characters more, I feel the first book, Round Up, should be read first.
Rough Stock was amazing and I think every single girl wants their own Westin! From his accent, to his honest and caring personality, what girl wouldn’t swoon for a handsome cowboy? And when he called Silvia darlin’, I was a goner! He was a dream guy! I wanted to put on my boots and hat and head to the rodeo after reading this book! I can see Westin riding and Silvia cheering him on. I love The Chute and their close connection to each other. Their support for each other is something we all hope for in our friends. I absolutely love the Lost Creek Rodeo series! If you want a down home, feel good book, then Rough Stock is just the book for you! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I grew up in a small farming town where the rodeo was the highlight of the year. The neighbor down the street was a rancher and world famous rodeo clown. Reading about Weston and Sylvia took me back to my childhood. I could her the crowd cheer as Sylvia watched Weston ride. I could feel the shock and fear when he was hurt. My biology partner was a rodeo champion in high school. During the season he would come back from the rodeo with a shiny new silver belt buckle every few weeks. They were each a beautiful work of art. I can imagine Weston putting his perfect score buckle on display next to his fathers in the ranch house. I really enjoyed the story and the memories that came with it.
Westin Farr is a professional bronc rider with one goal in mind. He wants to surpass his father's rodeo record. Silvia Diaz sister of Axel Diaz is the female lead and the object of Westin's interest. Silvia is suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. After a major break down she is sent to Broken Hearts Ranch to heal. There she meets Westin and the two of them find each other and begin to reluctantly recover from their many issues. Rough Stock is a wonderful addition to the Lost Creek Rodeo series. It is a well-written novel and an enjoyable read.
I loved so many things about this book. I loved reading more about Silvia (because I am a big fan of the Belltown Series by the same authors) and was thrilled to find her fiery and quick-witted and searching for a change. Her journey of growth was really powerful to me. And Westin is the perfect type of cowboy for this story. Willing to stand up and fight but also a gentleman knowing when to take a step away. Such a great blend of contrasts and similarities to bring two opposites together in a way that makes sense.
Another great read in this series!! Loved the characters of Westin and Silvia. Instant attraction, with some bumps in the road. It’s fun to have other characters pop in and even some from other series. It is a stand alone, but lots of fun reading all the books. It is set around the rodeo circuit, but has a lot of other life changes and challenges going on. Learning to live with and make ours lives better are goods lessons learned. That being said, it a fun lighthearted sweet romance.
