With the void threatening to destroy Mercadia, the queen mother scrambles to escort all mermaids and merliens through the mystical Cosmos Pool portal. On the other side lies their only hope for survival: Earth.
Off the coast of the Jersey Shore, Jonah fights to return to his human life. But unforeseen adventures on the Atlantic Ocean postpone his homecoming. His girlfriend is in grievous danger, his feelings for Mezzy (the fearless mermaid he’s falling for) are blossoming, and there’s still that unfinished business with his doppelgänger to deal with. What's a lifeguard turned sea creature to do?
With the turning of the tides, worlds will collide.
Shaka Bry is a conventional fantasy's worst nightmare.
In the not-so-distant past, he was an award-winning writer and editor of literary publications for teens. His stories, influenced by phantasmagorical classics such as Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, do often steer off-course, alighting on the wings of the fantastical. In other words, his books don't always fit the norm.
When not writing by proverbial candlelight in the wee strange hours of morning, he is a devoted father of three and loving husband of one. He summers, winters, springs, and falls with his family along the sunny beaches of the Jersey Shore.

Thank you to the author for submitting this book for review!
Mercadia Falling picks up pretty much where we left off in book 1 and things do not get easier for our beloved characters. I really enjoyed how this series managed to grow and develop rather than feel forced and prolonged like some sequels. If you enjoyed the first book then I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this one as well and be hooked for a third. Full of adventure, entertaining POVs, high stakes, humor, and the ever intriguing interaction between our world and this fantasy sea world Jonah and the reader stumbles upon, Mermaids and Merliens is proving to be quite the fun read! I’d still definitely recommend it for fans of books like Percy Jackson and such as well as anyone interested in giving a series with merfolk and magic a try.
Oh man, Mercadia is falling. Where will our Mermaids and Merliens go? Will showing up on the Jersey Shore be safe for them? Can our Queen send a guinea pig to check first? Will said guinea pig make it back?
Book 2 continues where we left off in Mercadia Calling. The gang questions their existence and their history. With new obstacles and dangers getting in the way of their survival.
I liked hearing from a few other POVs like Emerys and Tommy. Their stories lend so much to what's going on inside and outside of Mercadia.
Shaka continues to amaze us with his great writing style and ability to write a fantasy story set in current times. I can't get enough of Jonah and his inner monologues.
I look forward to Book 3. I've grown to love these characters.
The Mercadia Saga continues... an adventure you can’t put down! On land and sea and air and in voids and through the eyes of Mercadian’s and a doppelgänger, experience the wonder and imagination! There are lip biting cliffhangers, too! The POV stories add so much to the enchantment! You will learn more about Emrys, Jennie, and Cragg! Fairy tales don’t have to have fairies, how about some mermaids, whales, magic and an owl?
This is a hilarious read with heart. If you're looking for Shakespeare, you will be disappointed. That's not to say the plot and characters aren't good. This is written in teenage vernacular, which can take some getting used to. There are some really poetic parts amongst the interesting wording. I laughed right out loud in several instances. I continue to enjoy this series.
I am enjoying reading this series. I read this book in one day. This was a great read to escape with during the pandemic. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
This series is crazy in the best way. There are no rules to what the magic can do and that makes for a wild ride. There was an interesting little twist about half way through I did not expect.
