The man Koharu loved wasn't cheating on her... he was cheating on his wife with her! And not only that... he was the third guy in a row to do so. Dejected, she leaves Tokyo for her hometown, and rejects a future of love and marriage for a simpler life. But things have changed -- her parents are struggling, the cafê they ran is closed, and a creepy man keeps following her around. She thinks this may be it for her, until she learns that her hometown has allowed polygamous marriage, and she's in that man's sights as his third wife!
I'm convinced it's the artwork that kept me reading this series. It's SO beautiful. I was amazed at the expressiveness in some of the panels. It's enough to make you stop reading and just stare for a few seconds.
Koharu ends up in a polygamous marriage with a man who already has two wives. I don't have any issues with polyamorous relationships. I know people in healthy relationships with multiple partners. The thing is is you're not in a relationship with one person who's also in a relationship with 1 or more other people. Not in the kind of situation in this series at least.
It took quite awhile for the wives to start bonding and talking about how they deal with the tensions their relationship can cause. Throughout most of the first book this lifestyle is portrayed in a manipulative and abusive way more than I was comfortable with. Yes, I understand that there needs to be drama, tension, and humor to keep readers engaged, but I think these things could have been accomplished without the seemingly unnecessary unhealthy actions of the characters at certain times. This series may be aimed at men, but the story could have still progressed without manipulation and extortion of women. Then again, we haven't seen every motive as this series is till ongoing. Perhaps I'm looking for the best in characters when I shouldn't be. Remains to be seen.
I had to regularly keep in mind to look past the culture differences of gender roles. If you're able to do that then this series is rather engaging. Again, the art!
read the 20 volumes today but ill do a single review bc im lazy >:) started this bc of joe and IM SOOOOO MAD so so so so annoyed at this story . the art is absolutely beautiful and one of the only reasons (with yuzu and joe) that i even continued this. the story was so ???? the relationship between the four of them was obviously centered around ryuunosuke and it was sad to see mc + madoka and even yuzu let him get away with his selfish decisions for the sake of being provided for and loved if that makes sense. i feel like the relationships shown werent made to be seen as fully positive which is okay but i wish there had been a realization of that by the girls and some character development as a result of that but no not even MADOKAS crazy ass could get away which btw what was up with her coming back like she wasnt a horrible person towards mc right before ?? to cut this short ryuunosuke was selfish and controlling of the women he claimed to love and only got away with it bc he clearly chose women in very delicate positions wether financially or mentally, him being attractive was just a plus and im upset he was able to get away with it until the end. i wanted better for yuzu and mc :( ALSO JOE AND YUZU MY GOOOOOOD broke my heart so bad, the only part of the story i didnt skip some parts of, the end was unfair :( madoka wanting to do a paternity test and potentially cause them to go back together was like the only good thing she did in the entire 187 chapters ngl ill just have to shift into the story and maury them back together !!!!! basically dont read this if u dont wanna angry mutter about it later the two stars is not an overall rating but more so a focus on the ending and the lack of development in the characters, it makes this whole thing infuriating to read
Kam vite qe dua ta nis, nuk prisja nje fucking harem. Arsyeja pse kjo u martua me kte eshte idiote in my opinion sepse me kujton ato fanfictions qe prindrit te shisnin tek nje mafia lord sepse kishin borxhe. Do kisha preferuar qe te ishte me simple si psh te thoshte "keshtu eshte bota tani due to renja e lindjeve, 1 burr shume gra" sesa te me jepte kete justifikimin e borxhit. SNA THAN AS CA BORXHI ISHTE.
Ky tipi eshte pretty but weird, dhe mesa shoh eshte manipulator. Ajo flok shkurtra ka flok te shkurtra. Bjondjabig booba eshte fun, deri tani vetem per te ja vlen.
E prisja nje manga serioze me trauma and shit por deri tani sme ka dhene asgje, we’ll see si do vazhdoj.

BRILLIANT READ As you can comprehend from thr five stars.
So, first of all, Hare Kon is like a polygamous marriage, where one man is allowed to wed and maintain sexual relationship with more than one woman. A very unfair practice to the brides, you can say. Normally one would not be open to the concept of sharing her husban sexually, emotionally abd mentally with other women. At least I wouldn't. Similarly when the choice of marrying for clearing aeay away her father's debts was proposed to her, she had to ultimately agree to enter the hare kon. This story will emotional wreck, not only yoy get to deal with jealousy, but also kindness abd love for each other. The strong emotional bond that blooms between the sister wives is the best aspect if it. I still wouldn't enter a polygamous marriage myself, but it still opens a lot of views and aspects that were murky around the edges if a hare kon. This book will make cry, laugh, pee.. All of the wives have a unique story and a backdrop to them, they all are carrying a different kind of pain. Madako being the most possessive and gloomiest about the hysband husband. As the story unfold you'll get to see why in the first place they agreed to be in a hare kon. Koharu's character also grows and matures and she learns to deal with her fears.
Enter the story of where polygamy marriage is legal in one of the cities of Japan. In that city, a man could legally take up to 4 women as his wives. Koharu just went back to her hometown after she had a row of bad lucks of finding boyfriend in Tokyo. Right after she arrives, she learns that her parents are got into huge debts to pay and they decide to sell their coffee shop. Koharu felt responsible to help her parents and then suddenly this weird guy offers to pay off their debts in exchange of Koharu agrees to be his third wife. -,- The first wife is annoyingly welcome and the second wife is understandably jealously person. The rating of the full story is 1 star and I add 1 star more for the beautiful drawing.
A girl has learned for the third time that the guys she dates are all married. So she moves back home to realize her father is in debt and the store they own is in finical trouble. Upon working to help her family she meets a creepy guy who you learn already has two wives and wants the main girl to be the 4th.
Listen, this is trashy and stupid. It makes no sense why anyone would be with this guy in real life. However, the comedy isn't bad. The main girl is pretty brutal with her words and she isn't a push over on top of that the art is really solid even if the fan service is high.
This is shallow, perverse, bizarre, strange, and just plain weird... AND I LOVE IT!!!
This is, hands down, one of the more esoteric Mangas I've ever read (and I've read A LOT of manga, I just passed my 500th manga review on Amazon a few days ago). Polygamy? In JAPAN, of all places? I kinda always had the notion that Arab sheiks and Mormons had corned the market on having multiple wives... well, historically, it was VERY common in pretty much EVERY part of the world until about 100 - 150 years ago, when the... uhm... strange... ideas of the Mormons drew the ire of civilized society across the Western world. Throughout history, men of wealth, especially royalty, usually had multiple wives and/or concubines. In other words, yes, a real harem. The only real exceptions are the western Middle East, where the spread of Judaism and the handing down of Mosaic Law, which forbid multiple wives. Prior to that, pretty much every male character in the book of Genesis had multiple wives, and/or concubines. Centuries later, as Christianity began to spread from Rome north into Europe in the late Classical era (circa 70 C.E. TO 476 C.E.), polygamy became first frowned upon, then forbidden by the early Roman Catholic church, as it was considered to be just one of many (see: a LOT of) pagan European customs the Church felt detracted from the worship of Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. So, while the rest of the world continued the practice of polygamy, it "fell out of favor" in Judeo-Christian lands. The continuing practice of polygamy in other parts of the world also began a slow decline, as the zealots of Chrisindom forced the values of the Vatican upon each newly discovered/conquered area. This went into Hard Mode during the Age of Discovery (starting in 1492 C.E. when Columbus, et.al, "discovered" the Americas, and consequent European "explorers" (see Christian conquerers) encountered a great number of varied pagan peoples, who, in their esteemed opinions, desperately needed to be converted to Christianity. This continued until the mid 1800's, when what is now called "The Church of Latter-Day Saints" was first dreamed up by Joseph Smith in upstate New York state. One of the main tenants of the Mormon faith originally was the belief that not only was polygamy allowable, it was ordained by the Lord God Almighty, as the preferred way to form a family unit. The entire daily life of the early Mormons was designed around polygamy. This caused quite the uproar among polite society in America (as well as other places), until the leaders of the Mormon church finally acquiesced to the demands of federal laws and reversed their doctrine of polygamy in 1890. Over time, the idea of polygamy became less and less acceptable, even in Mormon communities, with the the exception of a few, small rural communities in Southern Utah commonly referred to as "Fundamentalist Mormons" or colloquially as "Fundies", communities that exist to this very day. In the society of 2021, polygamy is generally looked upon with derision and contempt, and pro-women's rights groups and individuals point to it as "an archaic patriarchal society" and "Misogyny of the highest degree". So, there for your enlightenment is a brief history of polygamy, so you can hopefully gain a better idea of how the protagonist of this story came to feel how she does about the subject. As unacceptable as polygamy is in American society, even in male-dominated societies like Japan, the concept of polygamy is practically unthinkable. So this whole thing that her hometown has embraced is a rather bitter pill for her to swallow. After all her posturing and high-mindedness, I was rather surprised to what she says on the last page. What's that? You want to know what happens? Well I'm just here to guide you to this strange-yet-amusing story. Buy it, read it, laugh, and enjoy it. I certainly did.
Manga bertemakan poligami!
Saya sangat tertarik bagaimana kehidupan Koharu apabila ia setuju menikah.
The art in Hare Kon by NoN is amazing. The characters are well fleshed out, and it's amazing the details that NoN brings to this manga.
The story will offend some. It's Ecchi, so sex and innuendo are part of the package.
The story takes place after our heroine has another failed relationship and returns to her hometown with a broken heart. She feels she's targeted only by men who are hiding their marriages and wants to try and break this pattern. Home is a little rural fishing town, and her parents owned coffee shop. However she finds out her father is very ill, and that the coffee shop and her parent's home will be seized by the bank. Which is when Ryuu walks in and offers to settle her debt if she marries him. The story is fun-filled with hi-jinx and great humor, in a coming of age story about a modern girl trying to deal with the trials of marriage. Marriage is never easy, but even less so when your husband is already married to two other women. Koharu has to learn to deal with her own fears as well as the ensuing jealousy of a man who splits his attention openly between three women. Along the way she discovers what family means to her, as well as learning how to deal with her issues regarding her past failed relationships.
it was a weird thing for me to read I don't usually read polygamy (Harem) stuffs I'm more into reading "the normal thing", but reading 10 books(Vol) bout 167 chapters I believe, was game-changing for me cuz in its core Hare-Kon is simply a story of awkward characters making awkward choices in awkward situations. It's not really an exhaustive description of what is a healthy relationship in reality, or what one should think about monogamy or polygamy, or love in general... But Hare-Kon has a unique story to tell, and as a reader, you're probably on your way to forming some illuminating thoughts about human relationships, what already is and what ought to be (or not)!
I knew what this was going in... but it’s so interesting! This is a story about harem marriage or polygamy... just to warn you! This first volume was ... interesting... haha.
This is definitely going to be a ecchi, smutty and crazy story. But I think I’m here for it! Haha. It reminds me of Domestic Girlfriend in a way and that was a dumpster fire I had to finish!
This is one of those mangas with a weird concept that I would've never expecting to see. I still don't know how I feel about this one yet. I have a feeling that I'm not going to be the biggest fan of this series as it progresses based on how some of the characters are acting so far. However, I'm willing to give it a chance for now and look into the next volume once it's translated.
I really love the drawings. At first I'm bit sceptical with the story but the more I read, the more I get hooked. Of course, at the beginning I really loathed the main girl, Koharu but as the story unfold, also her character.
I really wasn't sure how I would rate this series. If we base it on the art alone, it's an easy 5 stars because its absolutely amazing. It's also one of the few things that made me keep reading it.
I suppose I should have fully read the description and searches what “hare-kon” meant before I started reading. It’s entertaining, and the artwork is pretty good but it’s just not what I thought it was going to be.. *laughs awkwardly*.
It is enjoyable storyline and great concept. The humor is fantastic. A lot of ecchi here and there but what matters the most is the story gives me reasons to read another volume.
I just want to say I have never read a more frustrating manga until now. The artwork is beautiful and the story was entertaining, but everyone got on my nerves. Ryuu definitely has pretty privilege.
