Jackson “Jax” Reed has exchanged his years as a reporter to become a New York Times bestselling author. Being birthed from an affair, Jax has always had a cloud that’s loomed over his life. Despite the growing success of his true crime books, a secret that his mother took to the grave has turned his life upside-down.
Jax runs into an old flame, Ebony Hampton, the woman who broke off their engagement fifteen years ago. These two quickly find themselves at odds since Ebony is the FBI agent tasked with investigating the serial killer who happens to be the subject of Jax’s latest book.
When their shared “subject” makes a daring escape from prison, the former couple will find themselves risking their lives together.

Very enjoyable book! I liked the characters and the plot. The story felt very much alive and the characters real. Their faith was evident but they were not perfect or plastic. The writing was tight and moved at a good pace. I will definitely be reading more of her books.
Of the two boys Jax story was the best. Happily it end exactly as I thought it would and I like that. Now that the Reeds stories have all been told I’m hoping to see Serena Manchester make a come back. Thorax Moody continues to be one of my favorite authors!
This is the 5th book in the Reed family series and I truly loved reading all of the books. This book was a page-turner that kept you wanting more. I loved the suspense. I look forward to writing more books by this author.
I thought I figured out Maddock's story but I was wrong. Some parts of this story had me on the edge of my seat. The outcome was not what I expected. Read this book you won't be disappointed!
As usual, I was totally absorbed in this novella. The suspense kept me captivated throughout each chapter. I would have never anticipated the reason why Maddox wanted to escape. I love the Reed family. Vanessa and Justice should have a voice because staying with a spouse who has cheated takes a toll on a marriage, and only God can mend a broken heart. Moody is a totally awesome author.
Excellent read, I enjoyed the characters and storyline. Jax Reed was a reporter turned true crime author. His family on his father’s side was supportive and loving. His mother’s side was a mystery. During his research for his next book about a serial killer, Jax discovered similarities to his mother’s upbringing. This was a novel with great plots and back stories.
It’s such a joy reading an author who knows how to put a storyline together. Such talent is second to none, continue the awesome work so that I can continue reading ☺️
The fifth installment had much the same premise and flow as the previous books. Jax and Ebony's second chance romance was nicely executed with the Maddox component.
Title: Wounded Heart: A Novella Author: Tyora Moody Publisher: Tymm Publisher LLC Series: The Reed Family Book 5 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Wounded Heart" by Tyora Moody My Opinion:
'Wounded Heart' featured Jackson Reed [Jax], who had once been a reporter but now 'a New York Times bestselling author. We find Jax was working on his latest book ...Jeffrey Maddock. What happens when Jax gets connected with Ebony Hampton [an FBI agent], who was an old flame that he had been engaged to some fifteen years ago. The story will be interesting as these two start to work together as they investigate this serial killer Jeffrey Maddock. What will happen when this killer has something important that he will leave the prison to share with Jax and Ebony about a friend of his named Rosalind Sullivan? I liked how this author brings the story altogether about Jax's family on his mother's side. Will Jax and Ebony finally get back together after 15 years apart? To get the above questions answered and much more, you will have to pick up 'Wounded Heart' to see how the story will all come out to the reader.
Jackson Reed is a reporter turned novelist in this latest book in the Reed Family Mysteries series. He is interviewing a serial killer, Jeffrey Maddock, who brings up some private information of Jackson's. This gets under his skin because he is wondering how Jeffrey knew these things about him. Ebony is an old girlfriend of Jackson, who is runs into leaving the jail. They come to the conclusion of working together to see if there are more victims that Jeffrey is hiding.
I will say this book was one of my favorites in the series. The twists and reveals in the book were spot on. I also wanted to see if Ebony and Jackson would rekindle their relationship. It is a mysteries, but also has a romantic suspense element to it.
*I fully discuss Wounded Heart on Episode 69 of A Reader's Book Corner podcast.
I have read every book in this series and I think this was the best! The Reed family members were real and believable. Each had a unique point of view of life and developed that course. Tyora Moody's books are great reads and this is one at the top of the list!
