This book wasn’t all astrology. In fact, it was heavy on psychological ailments, philosophies of the self/ego, and the process of alchemy. The astrological descriptions or notes were not the focus; it was the understanding and depth of human experience -especially in regard to depression, repression, and the desire to grow and transcend- that was at the core of this book. I think it is a valid read for anyone with an interest in such topics. And for astrology students, also vital for a better understanding of how astrology fits into our lives, especially as a process (not standing alone).
Such an enlightening book, especially the parts about mars and alchemy. I found myself having to put this down several times because I got overwhelmed by how accurate everything was.
If you’re looking for a book that will punch you in the gut and force you to think, it’s this one. Liz and Howard uncovered a /lot/ of repressed emotions that I didn’t even realize I had, and made me confront the things that I hadn’t realized I was running from.
Even now I’m avoiding the things that were brought up, but I know I have to face it eventually.
This was a great book. I’d recommend this to /anyone/.
Powerful insight on the birth chart and conscious alchemical transformation. Any attempt we make to improve ourselves and our lives through understanding the dynamics of the birth chart is a piece of the alchemical work, particularly if it starts approaching the domain of psychotherapy, because this is taking the raw materials of the psyche as portrayed in the horoscope and transforming them through the intervention of consciousness.
"This work sheds light on the darker side of the adult personality, those unconscious dynamics that need to be confronted so that we can grow to find the wisdom within." Liz Greene
The ending started to drag. I am not interested in alchemy process that was taught towards the end of the book. I did not appreciate that part of the book.
