This is an exceptional issue of HSTQ, evoking the cryptic, the magnetic, the desperate, the bitter, the ironic, and the teardrop of hope that reflects the times we are living in. Kudos to Robert Beveridge, C.L. Liedekev, Niklas Stephenson, David Estringel, Mendes Biondo and all the fine contributors to this strong edition. It's a winner.
This is the edition of HSTQ that was edited by Arthur Graham at his most sober, to balance out the world I quickly drank half a bottle of wine before starting the collection. Robert Beveridge and C.L. Liedekev take full advantage of my less than sober state with some cracking wordsmithery, it almost feels like a David Lynch moment. Humour is brought to the pages by Brian Rihlmann, him turning the world of sluts upside down made me guffaw and Paul Tanner made me want to lick a certain diamond. But the high point of this stunning collection was Got No Time for Worry by Dave Cullern, once you realise where it is going you can't help but go "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...."
A brilliant release by HSTQ, well worth a read.
PS: I would have said the prose by David J. Thompson was the best but I don't wanna go to hell so 2nd Place.
HSTQ is always a lot of fun but this issue was really great. The poem "Towhead" by Jon Bennett was absolutely amazing and heartbreaking. If you love poetry on the edge, get a copy.
