Lord Reid Follett enjoys all the lustful benefits that come from being a war hero on the battlefield at Waterloo. Every woman in London wants to bed him. And Reid is never a man to disappoint a lady.
But the gloss of winning the war is starting to fade. Reid and his friends find themselves being challenged by a new group of talented Italian musicians who are taking their place in the hearts and bedrooms of the wicked women of the ton.
England’s bad boys must rise to the occasion and take on these interlopers at their own game. With Reid as their conductor and baritone, the Noble Lords are born.
Reid’s ego, however, does not match his singing ability, and he soon discovers that to win, he is going to have to put aside his pride and take singing lessons.
Widowed mother of one, Lavinia Jones is the perfect teacher for him. Discrete, and ready to do his bidding. The fact that she is a dark-haired temptress is simply a bonus. Reid intends to use her to get what he wants, then he will toss her aside.
Lavinia, however, is no push over, and Reid soon discovers that she is the one holding all the power in their relationship. Without her guidance, he will never be able to master the right note and go back to his seductive ways.
The closer they work together, the less they can resist one another. A fiery sexual encounter leaves them both wondering just where the music stops and where the heart takes over.
But Lavinia has a secret past of her own, and Reid finds himself suddenly facing his own jealous nature when it comes to the woman who has stolen his heart.
Can he set aside his rock and roll lifestyle to secure the heart of the one woman who sets his blood on fire?

Reid is a standalone book in the Regency Rockstars series.

An opera historian probably shouldn’t have been allowed to read this book, but it came across my desk as a kindle freebie and I was immediately on it like a tick on a dog. The rockstar romance genre mashed hard into the regency genre? I had to see how the author made this work, designers. And I think she definitely got away with it!
So my main issue is actually the antagonist in the story, who is an Italian singer. For some reason he is a countertenor, which is wildly unrealistic. Falsetto singers were virtually extinct during the 18th and 19th century and limited to native English singers, and term wouldn’t be universally adopted for that type of singer until the 20th. Due to the decent knowledge displayed about the socioeconomic world of music in regency England, I think she did her research and the author knew damn well what that guy should have been: a castrato. They were living and working in England at this time, roughly, in squiggly “Regency” romance time, which is a sort of wild liminal space where you can get away with anything the late 18th to the mid 19th century. Straight up I think he is supposed to be Giambattista Velluti. Now why didn’t she do it? I speculate either she didn’t want to deal with the sticky issues of putting a minority gender in an antagonist role (fair and indeed probably quite wise and noble) or that she felt a eunuch rolling through the beds of the English gentry was not going to play in Peoria (also fair, but disappointing). The fact that *this* of all the historical handwaving is what I am stuck on is deeply telling of my own weirdness.
If you want to see a eunuch decently in the backgrounds of a historical book, try The Devil in Music by the late great Kate Ross.
Incorrect word usage and anachronistic sayings aside, this was an entertaining story with a few LOL moments. It was nice to see Reid's change in regards to relationships and women, and Lavinia was perfect for him. His friends were a hoot: Owen was a bigger man-ho than Reid, Callum was a pass-out drunkard, and Kendal was just plain ol' violent and crazy...especially whenever he heard the music of Mozart. I'm actually interested in reading about the rest of these guys, as they are hot messes. And maybe, the author will have stopped using the word 'sew' in regards to these guys sowing their wild oats. "Reid' was actually a fun read!

My review :
When four lords engage in a battle of talent, what is to do the only who does not play instrument...
At first light, I thought Reid a spoiled brat, pouting because someone was playing with his toys. In fact, I even wondered if he had a brain outside the one sitting between his legs controlling his every moves and thoughts. And a fickle lord he acts like, why they engage in a battle of whom has the longest ... A cocks fight in the making. In all, it was funny and very refreshing as soon the wounded pride lord is up to the challenge, something which will rise him from above his own past hurt and uncertainties. Lavinia is an awesome and strong woman, she left behind a live of wealth and convenience and since she still stands her ground and tries to make the most with the few she receives. She is no coy miss and she acknowledges and accepts her feelings and needs, she does not shy away but she also knows the risks she can’t afford. Her relationship with Reid is one of trust to be won and loyalty to not betray. I loved she hold on and let Reid grovel the necessary time, he had too but she is too able of forgiveness. She is such a mature and confident woman. I know this novel could appear more modern than its subject but the practices and customs were respected, and still it gave a dynamic to this story, why I turned eagerly the pages, needing to see how Reid would stand his challenge and when he would understand Lavinia was more than his tutor, then what about the other fellows from the band... As the first in a series, the romance is one part of the story, but I also was introduced to all members of the quartet and now I impatiently awaited the next installment in this very original setting.
If you love historical stories, music and romance, Mrs Sasha Cottman concocted a vivid tale with a very original plot and bigger than life characters whatever their flaws and strength are. For sure the author made her mark with such a peculiar storyline and ready to move on heroes. It is filled with sensuality and great protagonists whom despite their anger or fear, are able to talk things out. 5 stars I want more.
I was granted an advance copy by the author and I preordered my own. Here are my true and unbiased opinion.
I really enjoyed this book, I do love a good regency but this one is so different from the normal regency, it is steamy and fun and had me turning the pages as we see Reid meet his match in Lavinia, singing teacher with a strength that shines. If you are looking for something a bit different then I suggest picking this one up and how fabulous, it is part of a series.
Lord Reid Follett loves being with woman and since returning from Waterloo he has not had a problem taking care of his lustful ways, that is until a group of Italian musicians lands in London and seems to be taking over, and going without sex is not good for Reid or his friends, so they form their own group known as the Nobel Lords and Reid is conducting and singing, it is not long before he decides that singing lessons are needed and when he meets L Jones singing teacher, Reid’s life is about to change dramatically, in a good way.
Lavinia Jones is a widowed mother of a young son and gives singing lessons to make ends meet, but when Lord Follett arrives to request lessons feelings that she has not had for a long time are coming to life but keeping their relationship as teacher, student is not easy, because Reid is an easy man to fall in love with, only Lavinia will control how things happen.
Reid had no intention of falling in love or marrying just yet and falling for the beautiful Lavinia took him by surprise but she knows what she wants and how, when he discovers her past he is more determined to make her his, Lavinia is strong, loving and caring and takes things in hand with Reid so beautifully. I really did enjoy this story there were lots of smiles as Reid and Lavinia find their HEA and getting to know the other Lords was lots of fun I am looking forward to their stories. This is one that I highly recommend if you enjoy a story with a twist.
What a breath of fresh air Sasha Cottman has brought with this new series & the Book 1 started it off with a bang. The story is fun, with some historical facts of wars & volcanoes erupting & the main & secondary characters are all ones I want to hear more about in the future!
Reid, Viscount Follett is getting sexually frustrated after a group of Italian male musicians have taken the Ton by storm, leaving him & his lordly friends without the nightly dalliances with the noble ladies. This won't do for the arrogant viscount, after all he is a celebrated war hero from the Battle of Waterloo & the women beg him for attention in the bedroom. He comes up with a plan for the group of friends to for a music group to outshine the Italians & woo the ladies back to them. Piano, Violin, Flute are for the other men who had been trained musically, so that left Reid for vocals. However; Reid's singing ability doesn't live up to his ego & arrogance so he must employ a singing teacher.
In to his life come a widow with a 6 year old son by the name of Mrs. Lavinia Jones, who would be his new singing teacher. She has been residing in a run down apartment & barely making a living but is perfect for Reid's need of discreet lessons. The best part was she was a dark haired temptress that Reid felt he could use, get his lessons & then leave when he didn't need her any further.
Lavinia was much stronger that Reid anticipated & even though she felt the attraction between them, she kept to the singing lessons until they could not deny the connection any longer. The journey from here is such a lesson in growing up, accepting responsibility, solving the secret that Lavinia is hiding & will the Noble Lords succeed in wooing the ladies of the Ton? I highly recommend this delightful romp in the world of nobility, romance & love & I personally, cannot wait until I can read Book 2 Owen!
Viscount Reid Follett is a hero of Waterloo and a peer of the realm and he reaps all the benefits of his position, especially when it comes to the attentions of ladies. He's never lacked for bed partners either, until now. When a group of Italian musicians quite literally steals the show, Reid and his friends decide to retaliate by forming their own musical group. Reid appoints himself conductor and singer, but his cockiness doesn't quite hold up to his passable singing abilities and with their first performance coming up soon, Reid swallows his pride and seeks out a singing master to help him perfect his voice.
Lavinia Jones chose to marry for love over position and she wouldn't change a thing. Now a war widow, she struggles to make ends meet for herself and her young son by giving singing lessons. Her discretion makes her perfect for Reid's purposes and the fact that she's beautiful doesn't hurt. But Reid quickly realizes he needs Lavinia more than she needs him and she's the one in control of their relationship. Both feel the attraction sparking between them and when they eventually succumb, it leaves them both feeling unsure of the boundaries of their relationship. With secrets still between them, it will take a culmination of everything he's learned and all the growth he's made as a person for Reid to succeed at his singing and get the girl he's come to love.
This was a fun, fast-paced romp. I wasn't too sure about the premise of this series but after I really enjoyed Owen, I had to go back and read Reid's story. I really enjoyed the growth he showed and Lavinia made for a great no-nonsense heroine Now I'm ready to find out what's going on with Eliza and Callum in the next book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sasha Cotton is a new author for me. The only book I read of hers was My Duchess, My Wife in the Duke in a Box Anthology. I really liked the story so thought I would try another of hers to see if I liked her.
I really liked this story. I enjoyed her writing. I liked Reid and Lavinia's characters. I like the sex. And I enjoyed each of the "Lords". Am looking forward to reading about each of them.
Though the story line was an interesting change of pace for the male characters.....thought their "F" language was a bit too much for me. Why authors feel they have to write this way to please readers is beyond me. Don't think my future read will include this author.
Reid Rocks! When I read the premise for this first in a series my thoughts could only wonder how this would work. I am happy to say it was perfect! Perfectly humorous, enchanting, exasperating at times ( yes I wanted to just knock Reid off his pedastal, but he got better) and a new storyline that had me in it's grip! Sasha's imagination took hold and has given us four handsome gentlemen (ok they are rakes with a capitol R) but I think each will need their own redemptive love to realize they are much more than just their basic urges! When these four friends, all heroes from their battles at Waterloo decide to form a band, I could not wait to see what would happen. Plus being told mainly from Reid's point of view put a new spin that was really unique. Can Reid find his "voice" with the help of widow Lavinia Jones, temptress that he thinks she is or will he get distracted and she become just another conquest? Escape into this delightul Regency romp that pulls out all the stops needed to make this an enjoyable story and as I turned the last page, longing for Owen's tale! Well done!
Reid is book one in Sasha Cottman’s Regency Rockstars series. When I first got the book, I thought the title was rather ludicrous. “Regency Rockstars” brought a picture of Kiss in cravats and top hats to mind. After reading it, I understand the pun. Four men form a musical group to woo women of the Ton into their beds. But when they find their competition winning more of the fairer sex, the lead singer Lord Reid Follett realizes he needs to improve his vocal performance. So Reid seeks out a voice teacher. But his world is turned upside down when the teacher ends up being a beautiful woman. I enjoyed this book. There are quite a few sex scenes sprinkled throughout. I think Cottman does a good job of developing Reid’s character. I also liked the way she weaves actual history into her story - mentioning the eruption of the volcano Mount Tambora and its effects on the economy in England in 1815-1816. I am looking forward to the next book in this series: Owen.
3.5⭐️ It took a while to warm up to this regency hybrid, but it grew on me.
What I liked most was that the story revolved around Reid. Normally, a cover includes duke, viscount, or earl in the title but the story and angst reside with the heroine. Not this one. It was a refreshing change. Also the band members’ dynamic and bad boy behavior was pretty amusing.
Reid’s steamy romance with Lavinia was lovely. Except for a disappointing final chapter, this was a pleasant surprise. Filing it away under guilty pleasure.
meh ¡qué se yo! Disparatada, parecía que iba a ser cómica, por cosas traídas de los pelos y luego... De una plan para seducir mujeres, estos muchachos terminan más con conflictos de prima donna que otra cosa.
A slightly different look at Regency England. This time through the eyes of a guy. A great read that was interesting to read. It is a real page turner.
Couldn't put this down. I got so engrossed with this story. A quite different sort of Regency romance. More like a Regency boy band with sexy scenes.....and I loved it! 5☆
Reid, by Sasha Cottman was a pleasure to read. Saha, writing once again, brings her readers an enchanting love story. She captures her readers with the witty, dramatic and charm of four lords who are out to capture every woman’s heart. I love the fact that the book is an easy read. The drama was light and not to overwhelming. At times I found myself chuckling at Kendals crazy ways or Eliza’s firm hold on all four men. My imagination was carried away with Reid as he tried to maintain control of the dramatic acts from his friends and sooth the aching heart of his sister. At the same time Reid has fallen hard for his singing instructor. The moments that he steals away with Lavina are very hot and a little naughty. I like how Reid’s friends look to him as the shining beacon to their group that could steer them in the right direction. This showed the close relationship that they all shared. Reid felt that it was either him or no one to help his friends save themselves, from the troubles that cast dark clouds over the lives that they lead. During these times, I kept hoping that things would change for the better for them. Lavina is the perfect love match for Reid. She didn’t put up with any of his posturing of him being a Lord. She informed Reid from the beginning. “ You are here to sing and you must take this seriously”. Even though Reid’s friends believed that he was always in control and managed his estate with a firm hand. Reid couldn’t tell them that he felt like the weakest link in the bunch. Lavina, was Reid’s light to show him that the talent was always there. He just had to be confident and trust in himself. My fellow readers. I recommend this book. Until next time... read on! I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
I enjoyed this story. I've not read any rock band stories, so I don't know how well it works with that trope, but with Regency, it did fine. This is the first one I've read where the author has gotten titles and heirs correct. Characters weren't developed well (how and when Reid's parents died or more about Lavinia's family and husband would seem critical parts of their history). The setting was interesting; I didn't know about the volcano that caused agricultural trouble. The plot was the best thing; 2 groups of bachelor's vie for the attention of bored matrons. Close second was the integration of the secondary characters. In this story, we get attached to Kendal, Callum, Owen, and Eliza, which really makes me want to read the next book.
Do I need to read books before this one: no Would I read more of the series: probably Cliffhanger: no, though the plot continues POSSIBLE TRIGGERS Sex: explicit thoughts and wishes, multiple scenes of premarital sex Language: 40 F words, 14 Lord's name in vain (223 instances of Lord, and I was not going to look through that to determine if any were swear words; just no), 14 S words Violence: slap, report of fist fights

Vi siete già occupate di Sasha Cottman ?!? Opinioni?
Reid came off as a spoiled playboy, whining because the ‘naughty women of the ton’ were no longer choosing him as a bedmate. Strangely, his inner dialogue started revealing who he would refuse to dally with, as if to show us reader that he did in fact have scruples. Creating a band seems an extreme way to get what he wants (and yet it was entertaining). The banter between him and Lavinia, as well as between him and his friends, kept me reading. Ah, but the love of a good woman changes a man! This story was a decent romp but I was left with a few negatives: Reid paid no attention whatsoever to Lavinia’s son (Jonathan) until he was interested in her; side trips to scenes that had no bearing on the romance story (bailing his buddy out of jail for example); and an ending that sort of anti-climactic. I would have liked a triumphant performance before the love confession and s-e-x scene, and more emotional effects of the war he'd just lived through (I think there was only one mention of ‘memories of battle’).
If a reader enjoys rock star romances and can suspend disbelief to allow this type of story to take place in England with wealthy/titled gentlemen, then try this book. However, there is a lot of profanity, a prevailing attitude that casual sex is fine with no concern for STDs, and there’s not a lot of conflict to overcome plot-wise other than the “band” members have personal issues, which are hinted at, but will be resolved in other books. There are some graphic sex scenes between the widowed leading lady and the hero, which are very modern in description. What’s good about the book is the dialog. The bantering between the “band” members, family members, and protagonists is fairly well done. There are some scenes that I wish had been written out for this book (the bailing out of jail, the rentering society, and a duet with the music teacher) but, oh well. There are a few usage errors, but they are not too distracting.
Really fun book, encapsulating the lives of four womanising, noble Lords who saw action at Waterloo together and are close friends. Because they dislike a group of musically gifted Italians who are doing well with the ladies on their own patch they decide to start a musical quartet themselves. This story centres on Reid who is trying to be a better singer as unlike the other Lords he doesn't play an instrument. There he meets his singing teacher Lavinia, and their relationship is central to the story. But, it's not solely about them. The other Lords have their own troubles and feature prominently in the book too. And although it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger (to lead into Owen's story) it in no way detracts from the enjoyment I felt reading this book. And I'll certainly be reading the next one!
This book was enjoyable. The story started with a Lord needing Singing lessons. As he and his peers had decided to form a group to combat the Italian group who were in fact excellent, from claiming all the women that had formally fancied them. The Italians were a handsome crowd and most decidedly women chose them before the Lords whom they had had relations with previously. But the English lords were not happy and this is where their lives changed. A very good story, with many humorous parts in it. I enjoyed it immensely. I am now going to get Owen, the next book.
Loved this Story! Let me begin with saying "I love the cover!" The model has just the right look in his eyes to make him a perfectly sexy Lord with attitude. His character name is Reid and he is the 'Rockstar' in this Historical Romance. He is able to sing but needs lessons to perfect his voice and so he looks for an instructor and finds one in Lavinia Jones. This story is well written with two very well matched and delightful main characters and the build of heat level is really perfect. I found it very easy to read and enjoyed it tremendously. In fact I need to read more from this talented author.
I love how Lavinia is able to change Reid. Rogues are not easy to change. I also love the way that Lavinia actually work to earn her own money and does not depend on whomever she could. She is a very strong woman and I love that fact about her. She has her talent that she gain from her former husband which she made it into use to make her living. I also love how Reid accepts Jonathan as his own son and the relationship between Reid and Jonathan. The steaminess is also good and I really enjoy the story. Can't wait to read the other Noble Lord's stories :D
This was a cute story. A bit different from most regency type Romances so it was quite enjoyable. My only criticism (and the reason I gave it four stars instead of five) is there was too much time spent on sex. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a prude by any means. Two or three times in a book is fine. More than that it’s just filling pages and doesn’t enhance the story in my opinion. I think some writers forget that the readers have good imaginations. You don’t have to be so explicit over and over and over again!
The love story of Reid and Lavinia. Lavinia is a voice teacher and she hold a big secret. Reid and his band, the Noble Lords, want to seduce many ladies of the town as their can by playing at affairs. He want voice learning so he can put do a Italian band. So he goes to Lavinia for learning but find he is in love with her. Can he learn to sign? Ok story.
I enjoyed this first book. This series is about 4 rakes who like to dally with experienced widows and married women. They decide to form a quartet to help them get more women. Reid sings and secretly takes lessons from a mysterious lady with a son, Letitia. The other Rockstars are Owen (violin), kendal (Piano) and C (flute, woodwinds). C is a drunk and Reid's sister appears to be in love with him.
What a. wonderful way to begin a new series of a different stripe, tell it from the man's point of view instead of the womans. I enjoyed this book from the idea, to the blurb and thru the page turning read. If you like love stories in Historical England this Series is about the man's side but he is usually looking for something we Ladies know know well before marriage is on his mind, & this Series shows how it changes. Recommend Highly!
I don't usually read Regency or rockstar but the concept intrigued me. Within the first few minutes, I was enthralled and I'm now waiting impatiently for the rest of the series to come out in audio.
The narrator was a perfect match for this book. He brought each character to life (and can swear beautifully).
Great writing - lots of lines that made me laugh and sex scenes that made me blush.
