Sarah Hamilton is living the dream. She earns perfect grades, has the right set of friends and wears the right clothes. She’s a golden child, and the long-awaited answer to her parents’ prayers.
I walk through that life—Sarah’s life—every day, but it’s like I’m watching from some perch on a tree outside the window. I’m always searching for something: some feeling, some connection, some person. I don’t know who or what it is. All I know is that I don’t belong.
I’ve known it all my life.
So when I finally discover what I’ve always known in my heart to be true, the words hit with the force of a freight train, leave me hollowed out and numb. But those same words? They also set me free.

Freakin' Lily Foster......she makes me cry every time. This time because her teenage heroine Sara finds out about being adopted at a time when life is galloping toward major change as she is ending high-school, getting ready to attend university with an equestrian team, leaving an as of yet undiscovered douche-canoe cheating boyfriend, and growing away from a controlling mother who seems more interested in her daughter playing out a picture perfect upper-class life. Then Lily gives Sara a perfect guy from the wrong side of the tracks to encourage her through this time of major change and accompany her on a road trip to meet her birth mom. You're not going to believe who that mom is. The whole series tied up in a tidy story-telling bow with her appearance in this book. Hope that's just the right amount of vague to tempt you to read!
I was SO excited for this book! It's last in the series and it's about THE ADOPTION. Sadly, it didn't live up to the mark. I couldn't connect with Sarah or her adopted family or Liam. But I connected very well with Grace and the ending was emotional whereas most of the book should've been. - M. M
Secrets result in lives being turned upside down when the irrefutable truth upends Sarah's life as she knows it. It would seem that she has everything a young woman needs: loving parents, her beloved horse Shadow, an enviable education in an exclusive school, and friends amongst the very elite. Yet she feels she does not belong and when faced with the facts, she knows that her life is a lie. Going with the flow and allowing herself to be pulled along by circumstances no longer satisfies her and Sarah begins to take a stand, resulting in an explosive situation that blows open the long-held secrets. Finding unexpected support in the renegade Liam Murphy, Sarah finally gets the answers to all the questions she has asked. However, as many others have found, when one person in a family chooses to open a Pandora's Box, it forces change on those around them and whilst it is a good thing, it is not without pain and soul-searching. Sarah and Liam's friendship develops into a loving relationship, but they are level-headed enough to realize that what they have could change in the future. I felt a little bit sad when I came to the end of this well-written novel because although Sarah succeeded in her quest, it was not without collateral damage. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
All Your Life is the last book in the Blackbird series and gives us the story of Sarah who finds out she is adopted. She turns out to be the baby that Grace from the last book in the series had. I will say that this book took a while to get the ball rolling and then there would be moments when it was finally starting to pick up momentum but then something else would happen that would derail it again. It took way too long for Sarah and Grace to meet in my opinion, but when they did it was very heartfelt. I hated Audrey (Sarah's mom) and there was a lot of grammatical/spelling errors mostly in the first half. The sentence structure was also a bit weird in parts and I would have to go back to reread certain sections to make it make sense. Liam and Sarah's story felt a bit incomplete for me, I would have loved an epilogue of them a few years down the road. I hate the way their relationship was left open ended. I will say I absolutely loved the first book in this series, the second and third I didn't really care for, and this one was alright. I liked the way they all tied together, it just feels a little incomplete still.
The finale of the series. Sarah is almost 18 and has a loving, though rocky relationship with her mother. Friendly but not a social butterfly, Sarah feels pressured by her mother to enter the social scene of the Jersey Shore where her family are considered nouveau riche.
At that pivotal point in young adulthood where everyone is struggling to determine their place in the world, Sarah discovers she's adopted. At the same time, she uncovers her shallow boyfriend cheating with her childhood friend.
While her world is in upheaval, Sarah develops an unlikely friendship with Liam, the boy from the "other side of the tracks" who works at her parent's country club.
Liam helps Sarah discover her roots and supports her despite his feelings of inequality about their relationship.
This story was told with love and compassion for everyone involved in the adoption process. The author included small portions of the birth mother's and adoptive mother's POV which helped soften my feelings regarding their actions. This was less a romance and more a bittersweet coming-of-age story.
This book contains mildly descriptive love scenes.
Sarah Hamilton has a happy life and one that most people would love to have. Anything she wants she pretty much gets especially when it comes to her horse. But unlike to other rich kids her age she doesn’t care about partying and showing her status. She feels like she does not fit in anywhere even with her parents. Through science she discovers a family secret that takes her on a life changing journey. This book was good. It was not always happy go lucky but really whose life in real life is 100% perfect all the time. By the end I really did want to find out how it ended. This is the 4th book in the series and I was able to read it as a standalone. I liked Sarah and Liam the best. I mean they both had some issues but they were both smart and strong people. Of course Parker is written easy for you to hate really right off at the get go. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily reviewed this book. This is my honest review
I liked the overall storyline of the adoption, finding her real mother and repairing her relationship with her Mom.
What was disjointing to me was the physical gaps in the chapters, where the chapters ended midway through a conversation and restarted the next page seemed random.
Also, it was disappointing to find so many grammatical errors in a 4th book in a series (I read as a standalone) and the chunks of dialogue or back and forth where it is not clear who is speaking.
Finally, I needed to have more of a description of characters. With the twins it didn’t click they were twins, I thought she just looked similar so I thought it could have been described better.
I really enjoyed the adoption storyline and the redemption arc of Audrey and how Sarah was able to establish an ongoing relationship with Grace as well.
3.5 stars I did like this story, but it was slow to grab my attention, somewhere around the 60% read mark. The characters were likable and well developed, but I wish the story had more climactic moments. I didn't really care for the ending, I felt like it wasn't finished. I liked this author's book, When the Night Is Over (gave it 5 stars), so I was hoping this one would capture my attention and heart like that one, but, unfortunately, it didn't. I was sent a complimentary copy and I am choosing to leave my honest review.
Loved this book! The story of Sarah and her journey as she looks for her biological mother, is a sweet, painful and compelling one. At the same time, her teenage life has some major upheavals, and she finds a love that hopefully, will last a lifetime. I enjoyed this book a lot, and enthusiastically recommend it. Thanks to ebook Discovery for the complimentary copy and the chance to read it.
I think When the Night is Over is one of the best coming of age romances I’ve ever read, and All Your Life is the culmination of this fantastic 4 book series. Nothing is predictable or mundane, this is realistic, fresh and original. Every book is great. I tore through every book she’s written.
A great book to end a great series. Sarah and Liam’s love story, the secrets they keep, their past, their interactions and they way the help each other is amazing.
This is an interesting and emotional read. Quite enjoyable. "I received this book for free from eBook discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review"
ALL YOUR LIFE (Blackbird Book #4) is the book I just finished. I started reading this book after finishing GHOST ON THE SHORE. Lily Foster, the author, said at the end of Ghost on the Shore, that if we wanted answers to what happened to the baby girl that Grace & Damien had produced, you should read All Your Life.
