My father and his best friend die leaving behind a will that sends the two families into a tailspin. The will includes a staggering amount of money we had no idea they possess. The money is left to a marital union formed from the two families. As the only remaining unmarried child of my father, and Elena Morrison, the only child of my father’s best friend, it is up to us to get that money. But how can a union be formed with a woman my entire family dislikes and who has no desire to leave her high-profile lifestyle in the city to be associated with the likes of us? In our parents’ quest to keep the families united, they leave behind a will from hell.
I was kinda excited to read this book and it started off well... then it deteriorated rapidly. It’s instant love taken to the extreme and the sex scenes are awful. There are a couple of 5 star ratings for this book and I’m wondering what the hell those people were reading.
Ok so this book starts with an info dump which was already pretty telling if what sorta book this was going to be but I didn't listen to my instincts and keep reading.
This reads like a first draft of a fan fic with my new OCs I would have wrote in high school. The story is told entirely in telling and all the conversations are robotic, mixed in with the occasional cringey line like "my babies".
Insta love is one of my least favourite tropes and it just got worse considering the character personalities teleported to different poles after they fell in love, Elena starting off the relationship as a manipulative bitch and ending as a sappy mother. I couldn't get behind their relationship the start because if her outbursts but the author skipped the entire character arc of her becoming a nice person and was like love makes everything better. It didn't even feel as though they were in love!
In addition to that, the sex scenes were god awful, having the same robotic tone as the rest of book. I wanted to burn my eyes after reading the first one and honestly just skipped the rest.
If you still want to read this book after hearing this go ahead, but I wouldn't recommend it.
On the cusp of a novella - found the characters difficult and manipulative - and May definietly subject to abuse (emotional.) The whole concept 'I'll do anything for money' totally passes me by - so not really for me!
Despite being a little far fetched, a ten million payday in a will of two families who’s children had to marry and have a baby, this story was good. Yes, that has to do with Mardria Portuondo writing style. The other children available in each family was Elena , a not happy and angry and uppity straight girl and Maylen, a sweet and happy and positive gay girl. From there the story unravels with a plan but neither predicted what was going to happen to them. This was an exciting, sexy enemies to lovers love story.
This is an amazing story, is sweet and sexual, well written and unconventional. The will is full of hope, love and family ties, I really enjoyed it and recommend it.
Ten million dollars to get married? I would have settled for five million! Lovely story of two women who find love under unique circumstances. Sadly, insecurities led to fear and mistrust. But a deep, true love cannot be denied. A very good read. I heartily recommend this and any other works by this author. She continues to enthrall me. Thank you Peace
Although the scenes are hot I wish there was more story and character development on the storyline. It felt rushed and although it’s supposed to be fiction, I would rather read how quickly the characters fall in love with one another. I wanted to read more how they fell in love rather than turn the chapter and read that they were all of a sudden deeply in love with one another. Still all things considered a decent story that’s enjoyable.
After I read the first two chapters, I could barely bring myself to read more - I scanned through a few more lines before I just gave up altogether. The attitudes of the characters were unconvincing, immature and hardly even seemed the age they were written to be. If this story had been written about teenagers, it would have been much more understandable. All I'll say is that this was a waste of my time picking up this book. I expected it to be a fun read and I was wholly disappointed.
I'd skip this book unless you just want to read sex scenes, it's a lackluster 'fake girlfriend to true love' story. Gets off to a slow start with an info dump to set up the plot and it doesn't really improve significantly after that. The two MCs are pretty two dimensional, with practically no character development.
I can't fully explain why I like this. But I do. It is a simple story. Simply told. Uncomplicated and predictable. And yet.. a good read. I just kept reading. Kept wanting to read. Ridiculous and yet true. Ice, tension, romance, sex and angst and little story to speak of. I mean... yeah I read it and I enjoyed it.
You could say love always win. The journey to get to your destination may be difficult but getting home can be lovely. Read the story of May and Elena. Opposites do attract. Fathers know best.
The plot is an interesting idea and not one that I have seen before. The love story seemed to just appear, there was little development of the connection. It often felt as if things had been left out or ignored to rush to the end. Overall it is a nice story.
This author tells such great stories, farfetched at times but great nonetheless. A sign of a good story is when I can imagine myself in it and she does in spades everytime.
This is just another example of Mardria's depth of love and devotion to her followers ! I was so overcome by end of the first chapter that each time I thought I'd be stopping after the next chapter I just kept going because I was so enraptured the the flow that I was unable to stop !
Simple story of uniting families with a few twists thrown in. I would have liked a more in-depth study of the main characters and less about their sexual drives.
If this had more than a plot going for it, I would have enjoyed it. The characters felt like there was absolutely no development, and the writing was subpar basically all around. The plot idea was solid, just... needed better execution.
