Despite what many aspiring product leaders may think, being an effective product leader is not about using the right frameworks, the right methodologies or delivering features quickly. Instead, it's about something entirely Building a strong foundation for product success that starts with you. Since starting my first business back in 2013 - and seeing it fail - I've been obsessed with understanding what makes some products succeed, and others fail. After 8 years working as a product founder & consultant, over one hundred conversations with effective product leaders & a lot of research into the topic of product leadership, I realised that effective product leadership came down to 3 key traits. And that those who can effectively cultivate these 3 traits will be able to not just survive, but thrive, in the uncertain, chaotic world of product & product organisations. --- ABOUT THE AUTHOR --- I'm Henry Latham &, after 9 years working with different product teams & startups, I decided to share my learnings about what being an effective product leader really means.I am founder of the Prod MBA, an 8-week training programme designed to fast-track Product Managers, Product Owners & founders to Head of Product by teaching you the "4 Competencies of Effective Product Leaders" by getting you to actually build a real product from scratch. --- "This book pacts a lot of information into a REALLY nice layout that's easy to read. It's not so much a 'how to' book, but mores so a great examination of the headspace required for startups and product design. If you think agile and waterfall are largely ineffective with your startup or digital products, this book is a decent read as to why and what to change. I view it as an inspiring call to arms." - Timothy Broadwater
One of the best reads on product leadership/management, yet suitable for anyone searching for purpose and meaning in their work and life. What creates product success? What makes a good life? It all comes down to decision making. Life is the outcome of your decisions. Stop being busy. Most of your work really doesn’t matter. What matters is what are you busy about and why. The foundation for great product work is working on yourself. Be robust. Be mindful. Focus on the essential.
A very nice read. The learnings can be applied to everyone and not just to product managers. if you'd like to be more in control of your life and be a thoughtful leader there are some nice tips in there. recommended
