Londyn Bennett entered my world like a hurricane. One I was grossly unprepared for.
But in the short time we've known each other, she's opened my eyes to things I never expected. She taught me about acceptance. Compassion. Love.
Because of her, I've also been forced to learn about prejudice. Cruelty. Hate.
We may come from two different worlds, but the second we met, our hearts beat as one, nothing able to sever our connection.
Or so I thought.
When the bubble we've been living in bursts, will our love be strong enough to weather the gale-force winds threatening to upend everything? Or is hate too powerful to overcome?
A wise person once told me that the right path isn't always the easy one.
I never realized just how treacherous the right path could be.
Atonement in the final book in the Possession Duet, an opposites attract, interracial romance with all the feels.
T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Beautiful Mess series, in addition to several other works. Originally from New England, she now resides outside of Raleigh with her husband, beautiful daughter, three cats, and special needs rescue dog.
When she’s not writing she can be found training for her next marathon (of which she has run over twenty fulls and far too many halfs to recall), having impromptu dance parties with her daughter, or planning her next trip to parts unknown.
"Sometimes the right path isn't always the easiest."
The story returns and we find out what happened after the gun goes off. Who has been left standing? You already know because it wouldn’t be a story if it were Londyn felled by that single bullet.
The Reality: A white man is bleeding out on the floor, a gun is held in the hand of a Black woman—there could only be one conclusion—the man on the floor foiled a robbery. Londyn is arrested and judged in the court of public opinions and charges pending. Will she be charged with attempted murder? Was it really self defense or something far more sinister?
How will the aftermath affect her friendship with Julia? Londyn’s actions puts Wes between a rock and a hard place with his sister. He's in an impossible situation ... Whom will he choose to believe? The true love of his life or his (adopted) sister?
As we all know ... "Sometimes the right path isn't always the easiest."
If you thought the first book was difficult and angsty, think again–you’re about to be crushed.
Londyn is a black woman, two reasons for her to suffer, apparently. Racism is still a big obstacle for her, especially in the South, but after what happened in the first book, misogyny makes an appearance. If you followed the #MeToo movement, you’ll recognize the attacks–it wasn’t a rape because she wanted it, she’s a liar, etc. And since she’s black and in a relationship with a white man, she’s a gold digger, a thief, and she’s ruining his life. It was painful to read, but it was also kind of cathartic.
The author isn’t afraid of putting the blame, and few characters are really innocent here. Between the villains of the story, the prejudiced characters, and those who are afraid to speak or don’t fight enough, it feels like the whole world is out to destroy Londyn. So in a true ‘love conquers all’ fashion, we get Wes and Londyn against the world. Except the author loves to make us suffer, and maybe love isn’t enough either.
But take the comfort you can get, and enjoy a devoted Wes who still makes mistakes, but want to be by Londyn’s side instead of fighting her battles. There’s a positive message here, but the journey to get there is painful. Grab a tissue and read!

What an ending to an absolutely incrdidble, MUST read duet!! I finished this last week and I'm still in awe of how unbelievably *raw* this book is. How real. And sadly how prevalent it still is to our society.
We pick up right where that wicked cliffhanger in Possession left us: with Londyn fighting for her life once again by the same hands of the monster who stole so much from her years before. She's able to get the upper hand and shoots him, and once the police come, who do you think they save? A woman who's been obviously brutalized and attacked? Or the prominent white man with the bright political figure? If you guessed on the side of racism, then you would be correct. So not only does Londyn have to deal with being traumatized all over again, but she also had to prove that she acted in self defense, and there was no other way she could have acted differently.
Right off the bat, my heart was aching for her. The level of writing in this entire duet, but especially this book, is just off the charts. I felt like I was watching this unfold in real time -- especially with the undeniable racial divide that this country is STILL in. But that scene when Londyn is telling the defense attorney why she shot Nick and he's trying to poke holes in her story as to why a successful, seemingly happily married man would want to throw that away (eye roll) for a black woman was just so spot on. Victim blaming in sexual assault cases seems to be the go-to MO, and we see this happening in every single rape case. A woman already has to go through the ringer just to even prove she was sexually assaulted, but a woman of color? They have even more against them than a white woman. It's sick, and it's twisted, and unjust and just so wrong, but this is how our world still is. And I'm just in awe of this author for showcasing what some people may not be aware of.
The romance between Wes and Londyn in the midst of all of this is absolutely powerful. Wes loves her so damn much. He loves her in the way we all deserve to be love -- unequivocally, beautifully and honestly. His love for her is easily one of the most powerful of loves I've ever read about. This couple has been through so much, and is still going through unbelievable pain, but the rare moments of absolute happiness is absolutely beautiful.❤
The suspense had me on the edge of my seat as well! I couldn't wait for Nick to finally get what he deserves, and for both Londyn and Julia to be free of him once and for all. The way it ended was just EPIC!
If you read one duet this year, read this one. It's absolutely heartbreaking at times, but so honest and true. And please remember to believe all survivors who come forward, and invite them worth open arms -- not skepticism and disbelief.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
This is book two in the duet and you MUST read book 1 to understand what is going on in this one. The author doesn't do a neat little wrap up/synopsis of book 1, so one-click that first before diving into this one. The book picks up right where book 1 leaves off and it starts with a bang...
The characters are a bit less likable in this one, compared to book 1 and the reader doesn't get into the story as much as they did with the previous book. This one leaves the readers feeling a bit EH about the whole thing. They dislike Julia who doesn't tell anyone about her husband's abuse - especially when it could save Londyn - they don't really feel the whole family vibe that the author tries and then we throw in some racism and call it a day...it just felt like the author didn't put as much into this one as the previous one.
The book is a good read and the reader has to know what happens since book 1 left us dangling over a cliff, but it just wasn't the exciting, zoom through the pages story that this reader was looking for. A good read, but I selfishly wanted more.
Add this duet to your TBR list - but don't rush it to the top, there are other books out there for that! An overall good, but not great series.

This is the conclusion to the Possession Duet. You have to read Possession first or you won't understand what is going on. But that book is amazing too and you won't regret picking it up and reading it. Your heart will feel like mine did when I finished that book with my heart in my throat. I was a mess for a little while. However that book and how it was didn't prepare me for Atonement. This book had me all over the place and is filled with such emotions and a storyline that you should read and never ever forget about. With all that said though I think the love story between Wes and Londyn is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read. This book also picks up right where Possession left off so you are getting what we have all been waiting on. If you have read the first book you know that Wes and Londyn are a inter-racial couple and this book will deal with the prejudice that some people against people with different color skin. The things these characters so through are certainly heavy and just make you down right mad. I would get so mad at times and wanted to go and shake some people with all my might so once again I was a emotional mess. This is exactly why Londyn didn't want to get into a relationship with a white man and certainly not one that has the pedigree of Wes. But they work and their love story is so beautiful, but people are trying to do anything and everything to tear them apart. But London and Wes have the most amazing support system. I can't forget about the suspense in this book too or I would be missing part of what makes this book so amazing. I am telling ya'll that this book has everything you could every want in one of the most amazing love stories ever written. If I was ya'll I sure wouldn't miss this book.
After the cliffhanger from book one I didn’t expect to read the most beautiful love story ever!!! Wes was all on hands on deck when it came to Londyn. He made it his mission to be there for her and oh my did he show up. Londyn also showed how strong and independent she is based on the circumstances. There was some intense moments that were not easy on the heart. They were racial inequalities that really made you open your eyes on things and how they relate to what’s going on today. But it also showed a couple that didn’t see color and fought with everything for their happiness. Londyn faced some serious attacks from people in her past that will fill you with rage but she handier things very gracefully. Wes oh my he always made sure she was his number one priority and trust me everyone knew also. The turn of events were sad and shocking. The struggles females face at times was brought to surface in this conclusion. Besides all those heavy moments the love between Wes and Londyn will make you forget at times the heaviness of certain subjects in this story. Their love was FIERCE!!! And the ending?! Oh my I want more. Simply simply BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I always feel that I can never get enough from T.K. Leigh. I swear, her stories are everything!!
If you've not read the first story in the Possession Duet, stop what you're doing and read it. No, devour it because as soon as you do, you'll want to jump right into Atonement. If you are a fan of genuine love stories, T.K. has created two characters that are going to weave their way into your heart and soul. Londyn and Wes are such beautiful people and these two are going to leave you breathless.
I love when authors take risks with their stories and they push their characters into situations that make you reach deep inside your soul to see things everything as a whole. When you want to keep pushing forward, yet you're scared to find out the truth. Yes, this is exactly what T.K. did and I loved it!!
I have followed this author for many years now and I must say she just keeps getting better and better with her stories. The writing is absolutely top-notch, flawless really, and when you get done, you can't help but to sigh. So dang beautiful. An emotional roller coaster that is well worth the ride.
Great conclusion to an emotional angst-filled story that isn't afraid to test the racial relations waters, putting them front and center. Londyn was embattled, yet Wes remained sweetly devoted. A slow burn of intensity, their road to love's redemption was bumpy, and their happy ever after was hard earned and glorious when it arrives. A bit low on the steam, but overall a worthy read.
Love will make you move heaven and earth to protect one another. Wes surgered to fierce and protective without a second thought. Londyn is incredibly lucky to have a man like him in her corner. Even with all of the emotional scars their fight was courageous but also heart wrenching. This book shows what true love is made of. You have each others back by any means necessary. What an amazing ride!!
Atonement by T.K. Leigh is book Two in the Possession Series. This continues the story of Weston 'Wes' and Londyn so you really should read the previous book 'Possession' before starting this one. This has been a really great story about a interracial couple finding their way. Giving into love again after past hurts. This has been a page turning read and I can understand it being a duet. I do plan on read more from this author and I of course recommend this book.
I was left at a cliff-hanger with Possession and couldn't wait until T.K. Leigh released the second duet book. Atonement has real life situations, in a page turning book, awe inspiring book. There were so many times in this book that I kept wondering what else could test their love. You will leave loving Wes and Londyn more than the first book and will see Nick and Sawyer for the evil men that they are. I can't wait to hear what happens to Westons sister Julia and her daughter Imogen.
I loved this book! The story and characters were amazing! I couldn't put the book down...although I forced myself to so I could get sleep lol! This is definitely a must-read book.
Finally!!! Absolutely fantastic writing! Such an emotional read. At times I felt the despair of Londyn’s circumstances choking me. I too felt hopeless and depressed. I drew strength from Weston’s unwavering trust and steadfast love. This is a beautiful story about hanging on to love when there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Highly, highly, highly recommend this book and author.
I definitely didn't expect this book after reading the first book. I knew that it was going to be wild ride, but it was much more than I expected.
Compared to the first book in this duet, this one is extra heavy. At times, I wasn't sure what was up and what was down. This book will definitely leave readers with heavy hearts.
I was rooting for a happily ever after in this book from the very first page. This book me on a roller coaster ride of epic proportions. My emotions were all over the place from start to finish.
I definitely recommend reading this duet. It's one that you won't forget for some time.
MY RATING: 4.5* SERIES: Possession #2 RELEASE DATE: 08 February 2021 CLIFFHANGER: No
"You for me. Me for you. For the rest of our lives."
If you thought book one (Possession) was good, she brought the heat with this one. This is unlike any book I’ve ever read seeing as I’ve never read an interracial couple love story until this duet; and boy am I glad. At a time when we all (well, most of us anyway) agree that everyone has the right to love whoever they want, the story brings to the forefront just how not long ago loving outside your race was for all intents and purposes, a death wish; that in so many ways, it still is today. The beauty of the story for me is how the author managed to capture the struggles black people encounter on a daily basis, the somewhat ignorance (I mean that in the positive sense of the word i.e., not knowing) some white people have about some struggles black people face, which unfortunately can only truly be appreciated when the racism affects someone they love. PS- not that they lack compassion, but it’s just a matter of fact- until it happens to one of your own, it’s an appalling thing that happens to other people. This has been my experience anyway. I have been in Londyn’s shoes unfortunately.
I’ll just reiterate; I’m not saying white people don’t understand the plight of blacks, but that the magnitude of some things is fully appreciated until it happening to someone they love.
Anyway, let’s get to it.
Homegirl wrote the shit out of this book. I mean she was not playing around when she wrote this. I was glued to my kindle from the first page. This is one of those books you wish you could wipe them clean out of your mind so you can read them again. It’s that good.
Anyway, we pick up when we left off in the cliff-hanger in book 1 (Possession) and let me tell you, I was relieved to find out Nick was not dead. But what happened to Londyn when the police arrived wasn’t much of a surprise to me. And, Wes was there, steadfast in his love for Londyn like a G. But of course, in true Londyn behaviour, she once again pushes Wes away again.
“You’re my beginning. My ending. My everything in between. And the only woman I want by my side.”
Poor Wes is just pleading and begging her to just let him support her. But of course she goes off on “I need to do this alone” trip after spending half of book 1 complaining that she’s had to previously do it alone, but when people try to be there for her, she won’t let them. And then she changes her mind back again for no apparent reason, inviting Wes to lunch
Anyway, I digress. When Sawyer and her dad showed up at her house, I thought
I spent the first 40% of the book wondering if still married to Sawyer. When Sawyer started talking to Londyn about his ridiculous proposal I kept screaming NOOOOOOO! Why is he referring to their marital status in present tense? And then BAM! he dropped that bomb onto Wes. My reaction was
I was gutted for Wes, but at the same time I thought, you stupid motherfucker you. Why on earth has it not occurred to you that she’s not once mentioned divorce to you? I mean when she told him about Sawyer, she said she packed a bag and left, nowhere indicating that she’s ever filed for divorce. And he’s just going to propose. Never clarifying if she is infact divorced?
And Wes took that bomb really. Too well infact. If it were me, I would have lost my shit, especially here he was getting ready to propose to this woman and not once has it occurred to her that she needs to come clean? Despite all their talks about the future? I mean how the fuck did she think that was going to happen when he’s MARRIED TO ANOTHER MAN!
The whole time Sawyer is spewing this shit with her dad just standing I’m wondering, if he’s remorseful, why is he just standing there allowing Sawyer to once again use his daughter for his personal gain? I get it the first time round as he later explains himself, but the second time round with the case? What the fuck is that shit about? If he hadn’t witness Wes professing his undying love for Londyn would he have let his daughter go back to her bitch-ass husband?
Even when he later on at that church asked Londyn not to take Sawyer’s offer, then came with Sawyer the next day to Londyn’s house, what was up with the pinkie-finger holding? Why the downlow? I kept thinking what on earth Sawyer had on him that rendered him quiet and just submissive. That question still isn’t answered. He should have told Sawyer to go fuck himself with a jagged-edged saw.
Anyway, when Londyn chose Wes I thought finally, were cooking with gas. And then the fire happened, and we once again got onto the Londyn-emotional-roller-coaster ride. When she let Lydia talk her into walking away I though
You can’t keep doing this. This coming and going, to-ing and fro-ing was doing my fucking head in. oh and the secrets came tumbling out of Nick’s boxes and journals. Poor Julia. When she finally opened her eyes and took that knife to Nick I thought
I wish the story was fleshed out more after all they’ve been through. I wanted to see the after math unfolding of Nick’s secrets being revealed, her pregnancy, Lydia and Nick’s humiliation. I wanted to witness it all. I also wish the sex was better described. When I read a sex scene I want the heat- to be so descriptive I feel like I'm in that room with them. Otherwise, what's the point?
T.K. Leigh’s writing when crafting this beautiful story of equality and justice has me wishing it could be a reality for a lot of people. Londyn was strong and survived trauma that no woman should ever face while staring down her demons that made her believe she was not worthy of the love Wes had for her. Wes, oh Wes. I loved how he stood true to his morals and not succumbed to what was expected of him as man of his caliber. Their happily-ever-after is all the more satisfying because he knew what a blessing she was and despite all the obstacles, never lost sight of all they could become together.
The second installment picks up where the first left off. What a ride, by the way.
I like the characters in this story even more and the way they grew much more in this book. I loved seeing Londyn's most vulnerable side, accompanying her as she lowered all her boundaries and opened her heart to Wes. Their interactions were quite smooth and beautiful. I absolutely love this couple and rooted for them with all the obstacles laid their path.
Wes was willing to risk everything for the sake of Londyn, including protecting her from his family and foes.
Both are asking for justice, but it is difficult to change the system which has been unbalanced for one side.
I felt so sorry for Londyn as she tries to evade all the mud that has been thrown down her path. But, she did not pity herself because every obstacle allows her to jump triumphing over them.
There are some shocking revelations in this episode, which really caught me off guard. This book and series in a whole has been an addictive read. I was hooked every step of the way.
The story had several viewpoints and it was great because it allows me to access the characters viewpoints and be up inside their heads and read the different situations they’ve encountered.
It was a fairly surprising and interesting book that I ended up really appreciating.
Certainly a recommendation as this was a creative, provocative and refreshing read.
While I really liked the first one, this book was a miss for me. So many characters went unchecked with their actions. The fact that the H sister is married to the man who the h says assaulted her back in college and then again in this book, and the H is just hanging with his sister (who is standing by her man) while his girlfriend (the h) faces a litany of charges and prison time, is absurd. At no point did they ever discuss why both are standing by their S/O so to speak or discuss anything!!
Londyn’s ex husband comes into the picture and tries to blackmail her into returning to him. He presents her with a contract in order for her to avoid going to prison for defending herself against being attacked. She tells him to fuck off (rightfully so) and he promptly goes on a media tour to tell everyone that she is guilty and a liar and just smear her name all over. And Londyn…. just takes it. Why wouldn’t she show the contract he tried blackmailing her with to discredit him? Like there’s so many things that I feel like common sense would’ve solved but there’s no common sense in this story.
The villains in this story are so over the top and ridiculous, the only thing they were lacking was a mustache to twirl. I ended up just flipping through the tail end of the book because I couldn’t do it anymore.
I appreciate this author trying to bring uncomfortable topics to light but this book just missed it all around.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Beautifully strong and fierce! This powerful story is a force to be reckoned with, it’s tough, raw, eye opening, and more powerful than a category five hurricane. The fight of these characters is amazing, the emotion and raw and honest topics render you speechless while giving you strength to rise above everything and fight.
T.K. once again brings readers a story packed with intense emotion and a thought provoking storyline that cannot and should not be ignored. Atonement must be read after Possession as it is a continuation of the first book. Possession left the reader with quite a big cliffhanger and I could not wait to find out how THAT all turned out.
This book, along with Possession, deals with some pretty heavy subject matter. It is an inter-racial romance and I commend T.K. for the balance she meticulously maintained of a beautifully budding romance between Wes and Londyn alongside the prejudices and profiling people of color have suffered through for ages, particularly in the South. We saw in book 1 how hesitant Londyn was to enter into a relationship with a white man, particularly one of Weston's pedigree, but the heart will only be denied what it wants for so long, and Wes is a very determined man.
So many things occur in Atonement, and I was really glued to the pages, hoping with all my might that Wes and Londyn would be able to overcome all the obstacles constantly thrown in their path. The times when Wes and Londyn were alone and exploring their relationship were written so perfectly, I could feel their every emotion and heard their thoughts in my head. T.K. certainly is a master at writing a wholly encompassing story that not only details their physical relationship, but also delves into the emotional foundation of it that holds all the pieces together.
There's some pretty despicable characters that give it their all to ruin what Wes and Londyn have, and I was SO hoping and praying that Karma would take care of them along the way. Wes and Londyn both had a pretty good support system, which really got them through their darkest of times.
I loved the underlying thriller/suspense aspect of the story. That's another thing that T.K. writes masterfully! This story is really a tale of rising from the ashes, for both Londyn and Wes, for two totally different reasons. And as I mentioned before, there are several sensitive topics that are addressed in the story and I feel T.K. did it beautifully. This book stirred up a lot of emotions within me, which is a true sign that the author accomplished what they set out to do.
I cannot recommend this duet highly enough. And if you haven't already read the Redemption series, which is where we first met Wes, I highly recommend those books as well. Another storyline that is high in emotion and feelings.
I am so excited to see that Wes' sister Julia will be getting her own story in the future, she was a very intriguing character in this duet and I know there is much more to her that needs to be explored. And I hope we get to see more of Wes and Londyn when her story gets told.
T. K. Leigh is a writer that is so creative in her choices of how to write a book, that she gives you love, hatred and emotions that you have not thought of in a long time. I am a 67 year old black woman, who has always enjoyed her writing, but this one was so important at this time and in this season in this world. My son is a young black man with a white Italian girlfriend who I love but I try not to smother them one way or the other. I think acceptance is all a person is wanting in this world, be it black or white or whatever ethnicity you are, but racism always rears its ugly head. Londyn Jade Bennett is being accused of trying to kill her boyfriend's sister's husband. She is being charged with shooting him, which she did but no one wants to know what really happened because this is a white man who has been charged with being shot by a black women. But love knows know beginning and knows no ending but like Weston and Londyn love survives. So you know that there is going to be some twists and turns to this story. We have a story of Forgiveness, forgiving oneself and then forgiving those that do you wrong. There is the story of manipulation, how a person, Nick, can manipulate so many women to believe that they want him and that he is doing them a favor. There is the idea of acceptance. We accept a person for who they are and not try to change them and bend them to your will. I knew this story would be awesome, with so many players involved. There was Meemaw and Grampy the ultimate example of love. Then there is Bradford's father and mother. Lydia, Weston's mother, the example of a person with the old ideas of what is even happening now is this world that because of the color of ones skin that you are automatically are not good enough for a well to do family like hers, but we know that a Atonement, making amends for what someone has done to you is forgiving yourself first. You have to know that you don't deserve to be treated any kind of way and that if a person loves you, they love you for who you are. What is the saying that Londyn and Weston say, "Sometimes the right path isn't always the easiest but it is Him for Me, Me for Him for the rest of our Lives." I am so proud that T.K. Leigh wrote this book and I had the opportunity to purchase and read this book. This series (Possession Duet) will be one of the best books she wrote. Now I am not going to say it is the best because of the Beautiful Mess Series, but I really enjoyed this duet. I would highly recommend this book and read the book Redemption before you read this book.
I don’t know how to tell you to prepare yourself for this book. This was a story that brought me to my knees. At times I was crying and feeling as best as I could for not only the two main characters, Londyn and Wes but also Julia and Imogen. To say I could identify with what the author wrote would be a lie. This is a story that makes you face some real truths, a lot of hatred but throughout the book unabiding love and hope. So many relevant issues are brought up in this book. They may turn your stomach. At the same time I couldn’t stop reading. I read this book in one sitting. In fact, this is the second book in the duet. Possession is the first book and I would highly recommend you read that first. When I saw that it was the second book I went and read the first book (which is just as true). I wanted the full impact.
It is a story about an interracial couple but it has many side stories going on. It points to many issues. I don’t do spoilers because it’s not fair to the author. Read the blurb and enjoy the book for yourself. I couldn’t do it justice anyway. That’s the authors job. In my opinion the author did this story justice by telling so many sides. Unfortunately many of these issues haven’t changed but there is always hope. As they say hope springs eternal. While I was reading the song by John Lennon, Imagine, came into my mind big time. The song struck a lot of chords with me relating to this book. It’s funny while I was reading I kept flipping back and forth who had the harder road when both Londyn and Wes both had hard roads. I mean clearly Londyn’s life was hell on earth but Wes was such a solid foundation. I had mad respect for him. Together they leaned on one another at different times and weathered so much. I really want to delve into the story but as I said it’s not fair to the author. What I will say is that I will be thinking about this story for a long time to come imagining if we could all live in peace and hoping to see that day that we can live as one.
Well done T.K. Leigh you took on a very sensitive, bombastic issue and nailed it. Although, I must be honest I really wish you didn’t have to but it needed to be written. Thank you!
ATONEMENT is the second book in the Possession duet and the fourth book in the Redemption series. While I have not read the previous books in the Redemption series, both books in the Possession duet must be read – and in order – to enjoy the full story. This is a wonderful, contemporary, slow-burn romance that focuses on current topics.
I started on this second book in the duet immediately after completing the first. I had to know what happens next. I was literally holding my breath until the book uploaded to my kindle pages so that I could.
Wes is faced with an impossible situation: stand by the woman he’s fallen in love with or the (adopted) sister he has always loved and protected. Who does he believe?
You for me. Me for you. For the rest of our lives.
Lines of gray, blurred lines, nobody is truly innocent, and villains will always lie. This is a beautifully written story that embodies those feelings of “us against the world” that all star-crossed lovers face. Even when making mistakes – that make the reader want to scream in their own torture – there is a realism to the characters’ responses to all that they have faced.
Any time you, as the reader, are feeling tormented, just keep repeating after me. “This is a romance and Love will prevail.”
Note: The author included a warning: Please be aware that this story may contain triggers for particularly sensitive readers.***
This story is about an inter-racial couple and addresses cultural and societal response to their relationship. Londyn is also the survivor of sexual assault and there are scenes that could be triggering for someone sensitive to reading about this. These sensitive subjects are conveyed with sensitivity, respect, and integrity. Ultimately love is love is love and thriving after surviving is possible. Your “book 2” is coming too.

This is the final book in this duet and it continues the story of Londyn and Weston. Londyn has gone.through so much in her life so her walls are so high that no one can get through them but when she is let to from her everything is set in motion. Londyn meets Weston when he saves her after she has fallen and then Julia who is Weston's sister hires Londyn to renovate the farmhouse that used to belong to there grandparents and that is how Weston and Londyn meet again. There chemistry and connection between them is instant but Londyn keeps him at arm's length but Weston is patient and it eventually work's and they call in love but again everything falls apart when she once again meets the man that attacked and raped her decides to try again only things are even more complicated because Weston and Julia knows him. Londyn is then arrested for fighting back and she knows it is because of the colour of her skin because when it happened before they didn't believe her including her father so why should this be any different, will Weston fight for her or leave her like everyone else has in her past. There are many twists and turns along with prejudice, danger, secrets, betrayal, loss, rape, abuse, love and difficult subjects that the author writes in a very sensitive way that makes this such an amazing story. My heart broke with everything that Londyn had gone through with no support from the people who was supposed to love her but Weston was something else he was kind, supportive, sweet, caring and not afraid to show how he feels regardless of the upbringing that he had where his parents showed no love at all as everything was about them and how they looked in a rich society. This story was absolutely amazing and I couldn't put it down as I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and it was so addictive. T. K.Leigh is an amazing author and writer and I can't wait to read more of her books as she definitely knows how to keep her reader's attention.

"That's all I want. To be left alone. To forget. I ever met you"
""I didnt want it to be true, Londyn. It was easier to believe Sawyer's version of the events instead of having to admit something so horrible happened to my baby girl"
"My beacon. I was lost at sea until I found you. You helped guide me home. The second we met, I knew the journey I'd been on had ended. And the real one had begun."
"I need to know what size to order when I buy you a shirt that says "I still live with my parents"
"Come on. Admit it. You like when I go all caveman on you."
"You may have not light the match, but it's because of people like you this kind of thing. keeps happening because people like you refuse to see the way you've been living is wrong. Isn't necessary. And maybe that's where I made a mistake."
Glad to have gotten the second book so soon after that cliffy. Londyn and Wes continue their story, if you thought the first one was full of angst, this one will destroy you in the best way possible. The storyline was amazing, my emotions were in turmoil and I was a wreck at some points, definitely emotional won't cover it, it's more than anything you ever thought you would read in this duet. The characters were fantastic, the way the author portray them for this story was perfect. This is a story that will be hard to forget, a must-read definitely, a beautiful love story overall.
Just wow! I couldn't put this one down! Lost sleep over it! In less than 24 hours I completed this book. And the prior book in the duet.
TK Leigh weaves a suspenseful tale where I honestly had no idea which way was up throughout the story.
Wes and Londyn's story is relevant to today's world and eye opening. As a white woman and as a reader, I didn't realize how much racism is still in our world. Especially, when it comes to interracial relationships. (I mean I watch the news and see what goes on. I am not completely blind/ignorant to racism in 2021.) I think Ms Leigh did a wonderful job with this sensitive topic.
I guess I never knew that interracial couples still faced the trials that Wes and Londyn face. In Possession, you get to dive into their love story. Feel the heartwarming moments of falling in love. Of two people finding each other and getting to know each other over a mutual hobby. See the leap of faith it takes to take a chance on love after being burned before. In Atonement, you run the gammit of emotions reading Londyn's horrible trials she must endure. Your heartbreaks with Wes' as he tries to do any and everything is his power to protect the woman he loves. And you sit on the edge of your seat as you watch the battle of life and death rage on.
I've been a fan of TK Leigh for years and have read a few ARCs over the last year or two. It's been an honor to read her work and review it.
Be forewarned, this story isn't for the faint of heart. But I think it's a story worth reading, a story worth Ms Leigh's time to write. She's written about sensitive material before but she deserves an award for this one.
It’s never too late to change course and get on the right path. This phrase is the mantra in this excellent book by T. K. Leigh. I was given the opportunity to read her latest work Atonement before it is released. However, since Possession is the prequel to Atonement, I had to read that work first. Possession was riveting; however, I thought I had a handle on the fallout and the reason for any conflict. I was totally blindsided when it was revealed that Julia’s absentee husband was also the infamous Professor Jay, Londyn’s rapist. I even found myself rereading to make sure they had never met! Much of the angst in this book comes from the realistic circumstances surrounding the treatment of the victim in sexual assault situations.....the shame, the lack of support, media coverage, predisposition of law enforcement and the unfair blame. The reader could almost viscerally feel Londyn’s anguish and hopelessness. For me, the fact that Wes accepted the sheer coincidence of this unusual situation without question says so much about his character and the depth of his love. He was absolutely unwavering in his support. Londyn was often ready (sometimes too ready) to push his love aside; she had so often felt the sting of abandonment that she did not fully trust him. Some parts of the story are hard to read but the resolution is tremendously gratifying. I truly believe that people like Professor Jay exist in this world. This wonderful love story reminds us that true happiness can be found even when we have been hurt and shattered.....the human spirit is so resilient.

I needed my Heart to recover before I wrote this review..... “ATONEMENT” is the second book of the Possession Duet by T.K. Leigh. POSSESSION DUET is by far the best story I HAVE READ BY T.K. Leigh and I’ve read them all!
ATONEMENT continues the most beautiful, emotionally packed story that I have had the pleasure of reading in quite a while about the tolls love takes in the south for Londyn and Wes. They endured many intense moments that were heavy on the heart from dealing with racial inequalities in life and for being a bi-racial couple. But Londyn and Wes never saw color but had to fight for the survival of their love and happiness.
No spoilers Here...... But I can tell you Londyn as a black woman, continually faced her inner demons from childhood devastation to horrific attacks from people in her past. And did her best to remain strong. Wes despite being raise by a racial mother, fell in love with Londyn at first sight. Making it his mission to uphold his promises to Londyn, that he would do everything in his power to make sure she knew he would never be like those from her past. He would always be there, No Matter What! Together they fought for their love “You for me - Me for you- Forever”
Be forewarned, reading ATONEMENT will have cursing with rage at what their love had to endure..... Crying at the shame of cruelty and injustice...... Laughing and Smiling at each heartfelt moment..... And completely overwhelmed but highly satisfied when you finish reading it.
Personally, I read this book in two days..... only because I got pulled away! I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review.
