Intertesting second epdisode, quite intense and new allies/strangers to consider.

With now a baby Dragon under her care, she needs to be responsible for him. But now she needs to keep her village safe from the mercenaries who came to capture.

With so many people to take care of she needs to make a decision that will be of the best interest for everyone.

Join Seleska in her journey to find out who she is and their purpose.

It's a series worth starting, such an awesome series and I can't wait to see what's in store for Nasataa and Seleska

Received a copy from the author herself, for an honest review, thank you!

How to put my thoughts into cohesion with the 2nd book. I'll be honest, I don't really like Seleska all that much. I hate to say that I find her sort of annoying. She's very naive, which I can't completley blame her for since she grew up sheltered in a small community on an island, isolated from the world. That and it seems she doesn't seem to remember much from her past or the death of her family. There is a lot she definitley needs to learn about the world, how it works and the people in it. For example, how she tried to reason with one of the people trying to kill them, saying they could be good and change. Which girl, I like that train of thought, but some people are just evil or too idealistic to change.

Furthermore, I don't really like the idea of Harren accompying Seleska on her journey. Idk, but I feel maybe it will just hinder her growth if she has a security rock always beside her. However, at least Harren does seem more sensible. And it is partly good that he is there to help. I'll just have to wait and see how everything progresses.

And finally, Nasataa. I love dragons. Anyone who knows me knows that I adore and love them. So, I was surprised to see that I also just wasn't feeling it with Nasataa. I know he's a baby dragon and very curious and playful, but boy, is he annoying. He just will not sit still, is always wondering off and takes things way too lightly in literal life and death situations. I hope he grows and matures soon along with Seleska.

Overall, considering how fun the Dragon School series has been, I'm disappointed in this book. Still, I hipe things pick up and the chatacters grow.

Book one ended with Seleska returning to her village, but now she is faced with the villagers’ prejudice against blue dragons. Additionally, the village itself is at risk if the mercenaries decide to return and try to capture her again. So she leaves with her baby dragon Nasataa and her friend Heron. I’m kind of relieved that he has picked her over his apprenticeship. She will definitely need a friend before this is over. As the adventure continues, they are joined by new companions, attacked by new enemies, and secrets about Seleska and her dragonlet are revealed. It’s a fun adventure, and as other reviewers have noted, would be fun to read aloud to children or grandchildren. A couple of small complaints, Seleska is a bit too naïve for her own good and I do feel a bit trapped in her head sometimes. Hopefully, this will change as the story continues. But those are small things. I’m sure she will grow into her role as dragon protector.

I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author and have reviewed it willingly.

Author Sarah K.L. Wilson brings us the continuing adventure of Seleska as she runs away from her home island with her dragon charge. In the sea where she found the first portal she finds others and takes the chance that the place on the other side is better than her home village. As soon as Seleska and her dragon reach the other side they're captured by a group of people known as the Rock Eaters. They eat rocks hoping to get the power that the land holds. But Seleska who is rescued by a giant octopus finds out through her friend Heron and the dragon rider who has come to find her that the worlds magic is fading. It is up to the dragon that she has been taking care of to bring magic back and on their way to talk with a trilobite her dragon charge is captured again. This is a great novella and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book and the previous one to all Fantasy fans

I am listening to this story on Audible, this is book 2 in the series and it is a good Young Adult or younger story. This would have been a wonderful story to read to children or grandchildren. A Excellent read out loud series, the Narrator did a nice job, though I wish her voice was not so high pitched.

Caged

These are always such fun stories. Portal, kidnap, fly, kidnap and swim. Okay so there might be a battle of two in between. Seleska is fun if not a bit ignorant. Her ignorance was bliss until it got her knocked out. She needs to find a trainer who will help her.

A great addition to continuing on in this thrilling but humorous tale of a pesky little blue dragon and his female companion. I love reading more and more as they bond grows between Seleska and Nasataa. That cliffhanger ending has me on to the next episode.

Great characters

The author paints her characters well. They are full people, not just outlines. The story really involves the reader. The book is hard to lay down.

Dragon Tide: Dragon Staff by Sarah K.L. Wilson is the continuation of Seleska’s story. Prepare to be quickly pulled back into this story as the author picks up where Dragon Tide: Dragonlet left off. Seleska has some hard choices a head of her, and danger is not done hunting her as she will soon quickly understand.
Dragon Tide: Dragon Staff picks up where book left off and Seleska’s adventures continue. As expected the author shows readers that Seleska’s village isn’t going to be accepting of her small dragon friend. It’s sad in light of the fact that it was because of her calling to Nasataa that the mercenary ship was destroyed in the first place. With Nasataa growing daily, the villagers against him being kept there and left alive, Seleska must make a choice to leave inorder to keep him safe. I love that the adventure only picks up from there for her. It seems that Seleska ends up in one bad situation after another, but there are good moments throughout as well.
I like that in this book the author takes readers away from Seleska’s tiny island that she has called home for over ten years. The author hints at danger with a revelation near the beginning of the story, but true danger makes an appearance shortly after Seleska leaves. The author does a fantastic job weaving in the unexpected into this book. For those who are familiar with this author's other dragon series and understand the connections between dragon and rider, there is a heart-rending moment in this book.
There honestly isn’t anything that I can complain about concerning this book. The story flows excellently, keeps me captivated from beginning to end, and leaves me wanting more at the end. I am looking forward to the next book in this series/serial.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. You get a nice balance of humor, danger, thrills, and a nice taste of revelation in this story as well to bring it all together. If you have read the previous books then I highly recommend that you grab this book and dive back into the story and find out what happens next.

One small dragon and a young girl get into a lot of trouble
This book was amazing. Seleska is so determined to care for the baby dragon Nasataa. She is willing to give up her home and her life but maybe not her boots to see that Nasataa stays safe. Heron desires to keep Seleska safe and is willing to do anything to achieve that goal. The characters are wonderful. The storyline flows well. There is a lot of action. Each person has a distinct personality and has growth. This story is sad and has some silliness. Seleska is learning that the world is not a nice place. I can't wait to read book 3.

Episode 2 of the Dragon Tide series, pulls us deeper into the story and pulls back the curtain on what is occurring in the world apart from Seleska’s peaceful island domain. It is not a pretty, nor peaceful, picture. Seleska is an immature young lady, who is just learning to be responsible for someone other than herself, and is yet in need of education and training herself—education of the true condition of the greater world; and training in how to meet the challenges she will face in this “real” world. The dragonlet of book 1, Nasataa, is present, but there are few hints of what the future holds for our heroine and her ward (the hatchling)—other than that danger awaits them in the greater world. The adventures that occur in this episode underscore the woeful state of preparedness in Seleska at this time. I await with eagerness the next episode in our new saga.

Sometimes you can tell a book, or an entire series, by its / their cover(s). That’s certainly the case with the books in Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon Tide series, the second book of w of which, Dragon Staff, is wonderfully delicious. Can Seleska keep her baby dragon safe? I’m not going to say, but I will guarantee that whether or not you’re a dragon story lover (like me), you’ll have outstanding reading pleasure finding out. This book was simply perfect and, for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to Desperate Flight, the next book in this series.

The escape that ends in capture

Another good read but just wish they were longer as they cut off midstream in the storyline.
With the villagers wanting her to get rid of the baby dragon, she has only one option. Leave the village and take the dragon with her. She doesn't expect her escape to be noted or that her BFF would follow. Add in a capture, sentenced to death, an escape, meeting up with an old warrior and her black dragon. However their next contact, set up by the old warrior, leads to another capture. Only this time it is the baby dragon that has been taken. Can they get him back and if they manage it, at what cost?
The characters really need a bit more filling in. Yes the action is full on but they do need more filling out. Plus can't she stop getting caught all the time? Obviously the feeling about dragons is negative so why doesn't she take more care?

Dragon Staff is the second episode of a brand new series by USA Today bestselling author Sarah K.L. Wilson. Princess Seleska finds herself in a lot of danger and discovers new allies. Her little water dragon, Nasataa, is always by her side and growing quickly. We learn a bit about Seleska's and Nasataa's destinies. It's not what you would expect. We get to see more of her love interest, the blacksmith apprentice named Heron, too. Just when the story gets intense, it ends! At least the author is releasing a new episode every eighteen days, so I won't have to wait long. The Dragon Tide series is written with a younger voice, so I recommend it for middle grade readers and young adults.

I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Seleska and Nasataa are at it again. In this second book they find themselves in yet more trouble. Seleska believes leaving will keep the village safe, but it just lands her in a worse situation. Her new friend may be her and Nasataa's only salvation if they can just stay out of way of the enemy she has made. Even with all the trouble which seems to seek them out I am loving the antics of this baby blue dragon. The ending of this book is making me curious to see what trouble they may find themselves in in the next book.

Such an engaging story!

I listened to the audio version. Don’t attempt to read/listen to this as a standalone. This is a serial. And a lovely one at that. Each episode comes quickly after the other. It’s so well written! Such an engaging story! Captivating as ever! So good!!!

I love Seleska more and more, she’s so brave and devoted to Nasataa! And I love Nasataa more and more too! He’s so cute.

And the narrator did a good job with all the different voices. I know that can be different, but it was done really well!

I am really enjoying this series and this is the second book. Seleska, with her baby dragon Nasataa, has left home because her people will not accept her dragon. They travel underwater by way of the portals she had found before, but find themselves deep in trouble. Help comes from a most unexpected and unusual source. She finds friends and is told what course her destiny is to take. Does she have the courage to see it through?

This is episode two of the Dragon Tide series and while getting pulled deeper into the story we watch as Seleska learns the responsibility of taking care of someone other than herself, even though she is in need of learning how to take care of herself. With plenty of action, suspense and danger we watch as Seleska takes care of Nasataa as they both learn. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book

Another great dragon series for young teen/YA readers

This story is the second in Sarah kL Wilson’s new dragon series. Seleska is back home in her coastal village, but the people don’t want a dragon there; even if it’s a cute baby like Nasataa. So she takes him on more adventures thru anew portal into a very dangerous world. Heron and some others join her, but will they make it out alive?

Episode 2 in a series of serials. This novella takes us deeper into the action and makes some unexpected twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Selska needs to take care of her dragon, and taking care of the dragonlet is not an easy taste. It needs a lot of food, love, and care. The dangers are spiking and come from the most unexpected ways.
Will Sleska manage to rescue everyone and don't get killed herself?
