One of them is lying… He doesn’t have a wife. Not anymore. So who is this woman claiming to be his spouse? And what does she want from him? When newlywed housewife Julia Windsmith returns home after a much-needed break, she is shocked to find the locks changed to her beautiful house on the beach. She pounds on the door in a wave of panic. When Dan, her beloved husband, opens the door, she asks him why he’s changed the front-door lock. Confused, he asks her who she is and tells her he’s never seen her before in his life… Is Julia having another meltdown? Is her mind playing tricks on her again? Did she fabricate this relationship? Has her whole life been a complete lie? A riveting suspense filled with deception, lies, and a scandalous cover-up. One of them is lying…the other is dying to tell the truth.
I had high hopes for this book as I love a good twisty-turny story. However, I found the characters flat and the storyline ridiculous. The only good part was the end, but it was so quick, there was minimal build-up.
Personal preference? I don't care for a damsel in distress or weak-willed women and the "Oh I'm so crazy I couldn't possibly care for myself and only a man can save me" trope is tired and frankly, boring.
The best part of the book was the audio version, which only takes 4 hours, from start to finish, so it's a quick listen. The narrator is flat and characters sometimes sound auto-generated/AI voices (think the worst GPS voice you could find and that's what the narrator sounded like at moments).
I hate writing bad reviews. I really do. I can read a good book in a day. Two days at the most. This one took me five. It was boring, I couldn't keep my eyes open and and I kept waiting for the storyline to open up. Next thing I know I'm at 97% and its being wrapped up faster than the first big hill on a rollercoaster. I could go on and explain how you couldn't even picture the characters because they were so vague. I could tell you how disjointed the story read . What I really want to advise is just not to waste your time. It was a really bad read Honestly.
This was much better boos as her first book The rich housewife I read it. I dislike that book so much that I didn't want to read anything by this author at the same time I like to have second thoughts after time so I decided to try again. I loved the story line, but there is still that repetition that annoyed me in her previous book. It wasn't so intense but sometimes I felt I could start at any chapter and would have full info again. I definitely enjoyed the ending as didn't expect the final twist. Probably in some sense story was bit too rushed, there could be some more development between the chapters. Not bad in total, not bad.
Great book!! The plot twists just kept coming throughout the book. The narrator’s voice was great, clear, concise and very easy to listen to. The story I wasn’t sure where it was going to take us but glad it went the way it did and the twists at the end were definitely in my blind spot. I look forward to reading more from this author. Not too dark but suspense and thrilling!
This book kept going back and forth I'm like what did I read? Was so stupid like a bad lifetime movie I wil not be reading from her the synopsis made it sound good was a waste of time reading
This story kept you on your toes until the end. Poor Julia. What her husband put her through. Loved the HEA ending. The twist at the end was quite good!
