Daizlei Academy #4

Vessel of Destruction

Rate this book
If there is one truth that I hold to in my life, it is that when it rains, it pours.

Perhaps that is why I built myself not for the everyday storms most experience.
But for the hurricanes I have had to learn to withstand.

I know what it is like to feel your heart crack in half like a tree that snaps under too much pressure.

I know the bone-deep, all-consuming, numbness that sets in when the wind and the cold and the water become too much.

I know the desperation that claws under the surface as you try to wait through the night, and hope that come the dawn, the storm has passed.
But perhaps, most importantly, I know how to survive.
Or really, I am too spiteful to die.

Either way, my world is falling apart around me. Death and destruction are knocking on my door. And a storm is coming. One unlike anything we have ever encountered before.

This time it is not Anastasia I will face on the battlefield, but the one who calls to me. The one I cannot face.
This is one storm I don’t know if I will survive . . . or if the price of living is too high.

**This is the final book in Selena's journey. Daizlei Academy is a completed series intended for older teens and adults.**

This was a great end to a great series. Twists and turns that I did not expect. The amazing character building for Selena as she grew up with crazy life changing revelations. I am sad this series is over but the ending was written in a great non cliff hanger ending. I finished the series with answers to my questions and a smile on my face. Such a great read 100% recommend.

I can't believe this is finally over, I really enjoyed the series. I love the characters, the world-building was quite refreshing and Stacey the narrator was simply brilliant. Selena and Ash had a great story but I hope the author continues with a spin-off for other amazing characters and to get some answers that felt a bit unresolved. Overall if you love magic, great characters, romance, and a good plotline get these audiobooks.

Loved this series!!!

Ahhhh this was so good!! Selena has been dealt such a crushing life and she’s trying to figure everything out, but that’s so freaking hard. I liked the ending but definitely hope there is more to come from these characters!

17 going on 30. These young females are not human and hold a lot of power. With this much power, I try and see them as more than just kids. It helps when it comes to their love life.

Not everything gets tied up in a nice bow for me. Some things in end have me wondering how that is possible. Surely she will get bond sickness no matter how well you hide her.

Other things are nicely closed off, even if I wished for a HEA for all of them and hot like 80% HEA, 20% oh well they live on.

From the comments, I expected a lacking world, immature and predictable. But I didn't get that, I got a really well-built world with well-rounded characters...well, not Ash and Lucas. Them two just blah. Feel like I know more about Alec than them two. Yes, in the beginning, they had big parts, but it didn't feel like they developed as the other characters did.
Up downs and the blessed 🙌🏿

I have seriously fallen in love with this series and this couldn’t have been a better ending. This book had me with tears in my eyes for pretty much the whole thing and I was super attached to every character I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel in the end. I was not disappointed! Loved loved loved! Thank you Kel for totally not breaking me and keeping me whole in the end!

The perfect culmination! Honestly this book had me in pieces so many times. Whenever Lily was featured I had no clue how to react. I was heartbroken for what she’d become yet hopeful that somehow Selena would save her and I can’t say I’m unhappy with her ending! She deserves a normal life - the life she’d wanted to so long. Yet my heart was heavy when we found out Selena and Alexandra could never see her again. Bittersweet! Selena’s powers in this and her love for Kayla were honestly some of my favourite things. Their relationship is so pure and unique to any other. Also the exploding heads and dissipating vampires into dust?! Yes please! And meeting the Ancients honestly I couldn’t have asked for more. As I said the perfect culmination!

So I hadn’t read this series beforehand and I am kinda glad I didnt because the audiobook was a pleasant surprise and I loved it and didnt want it to end. I wont give away too much since its the big climax of the story and no one likes having the story ruined with spoilers. I think my favorite was at the end when Selena got to meet some awesome characters that had been talked about but never seen/spoken to. I thought that was done so well, I would love to see more of them/more spinoffs from this series that has them as special cameos. I thought Lily was a fabulous baddie in this one, she exuded darkness after what she had to endure and had to adapt to keep from losing it completely. I was sad how things ended for her, but I understand what Kel was doing and I can see her popping up in future stories (maaaaybe Blair’s!?!). I wish Selena and Ash had more time alone together, if you know what I mean. I loved how the story was the #1 priority but I did miss some steam. I also have so many questions regarding Alexandria, Blair, Kara, etc. I hope Kel visits this world again. Now I am a huge RH but this M/F story was amazing and a good break from all the RH I have been reading/listening to haha. I want to see how Blair and Alec handle their new lives, what happens with Alexandria (does she get a signasti?) How does Kara handle her new powers and bring a teenager? Does Lucas fall for Lily or handle his new responsibility in life? So many things that can be for future stories, I would be up for any of them honestly!! Oooh and I loved the attitude with the council at the end and how Selena’s role changed (with the vessel role that was given to her).

One last thing to talk about this story. I loved seeing all the powers and supernatural aspect in book 4. We got to see more from some characters, see some being refined, some we didnt even know had some! I kinda wish the battles could have been a little longer, but when one character has an immense, deadly power, its hard to have that longer drawn out battle/war.

For the narration, I thought this was probably Stacey’s strongest performance. Some things sounded a little off for me (some accents were consistent between some of the side characters) but it wasnt enough for me to bring it down from a 5 to a 4 star rating. I felt all the emotions when it came to the sisters, to the outcome that had to happen, to Selena and a character that had to say goodbye. I thought the love between Ash and Selena was palpable, along with Selena’s love for her family and Ash’s family. I thought the scenes with the Alpha was done really well too and the deadly showdown with Lily with the group not there was gut wrenching and made me really believe the story/these characters came to life. Great job, will be checking out more by Kel and narrations of Stacey’s, that’s for sure ❤️

What a finale

While I sit here contemplating what to write as a review I’m astounded that this was Ms. Carpenter’s first series! I read this in the thank you pages at the end and am pleasantly surprised because all four books were so well written. They were sexy enough for an adult, but mild enough a teenager could read. This book was a great finale to a wonderful series, this book had so much pain, but also so much healing. I was saddened by certain things that happened, but while it wasn’t taken back (true loss never really is but it makes everyone stronger) it was a needed step for Selena to realize what she had. I’d like to see more of certain characters and find out where they are later and how their final plans work out....I want my opinion out there, but don’t want to give spoilers, lol. All in all a wonderful book! Will definitely be reading more of Kel Carpenter!

This book allowed me to be dragged willingly back into Selena's world once more. As with all of Kel's books, this one did not disappoint. I love Selena, her sisters, and especially her and Ash together. There was so much passion, love, compassion, and courage shown in this final book. It allowed me to feel what the characters must have felt and visualize what was being done.

I became hooked on Kel years ago with the first Daizlei book and I continue to love her creativity and penmanship.

I loved this book so much I could not put it down until the last words were read. The ending was perfect, though it did leave a little mystery just in case there is ever a desire to write a spin off. I loved loved loved this amazing series

A must read Series! Once you start you’ll never put it down!!!

What an amazing end!! Finally everything was righted the best it could even though I firmly believe what the ancients asked of Selena was extremely unfair and unbalanced. I get the wrong that was made, but I firmly believe they asked to much in return. I was balling my eyes out at the end of the battle. That was one tough scene to read. Thank you Kel Carpenter for sharing Selena’s story with us. It was an amazing journey! I can’t wait to read your next series!!!

I hate to see things end and will normally put off reading the last chapter until I absolutely have to. That being said, I am so sorry to see this story end. But all good things must end and this is no exception. Kel knows how to send off her characters with a bang. She doesn't let the story drop for a second and never ceases to draw me into her world.

I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

I really enjoyed this series. I liked the heroine and her character development/personality. I liked the fight scenes and the different abilities other characters had. I wish at some point in the story Ash would have shifted into his animal. I also didn’t understand how Selena, Blair, and Lily all found there signati but Alexandra didn’t. That was a little disappointing. Overall this was a good series!

What a ride

What a a ride this has been. I have enjoyed listening/reading this series and this the final book was very intense and kept me on my toes. From the very beginning until the end you are drawn into the story and you just can't stop until you know exactly how everything is going to play out. There's so many possibilities that it boggles the mind.
The narrator does an amazing job

The long awaited fourth book of the Daizlei Academy series. While I am sad to see this series end, I loved the characters and how they grew throughout the entire series. I loved Selena and how she always put others before herself and if you read the series you will see that makes a huge difference in how things end.

A satisfying end to what has been a good series.
Truthfully I wasn't so sure about Selena in the beginning but grew to really like her and felt her struggles in this last book. With everything she had experienced and lived through she gained more understanding about herself and the role she had to play becoming a well-rounded character who made the difficult choices.

I have enjoyed this series so much. It has been completely original and unpredictable with amazing characters and story line. I instantly feel in love with the characters and the heart reaching things they have to deal with had me tearing up and the there amazing sense of humour and sarcasm had me laughing out loud. I really can’t recommend the whole series enough truly brilliant.

Yup, this was epic.

I love Kel and her books, so it comes as no suprise that she one again has ripped my heart out and then stowed it back together.

The characters, the epicness, the writing, the plot. Just everything was perfection.

I won't be writing a detailed review as to not spoil the last book, but honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy a YA as much as I did.

This book had me wanting more. It was an amazing book until the end. The ending was so abrupt and not full circle. It had me wanting to know what happens in the future. I feel like there should be another book.

Overall it was an amazing book. Filled with twists and turns. I even cried a couple times.

This series is a favorite of mine. Selena is a badass that I’d love to read more about. The ending was satisfactory and proves how amazing of a writer Kel Carpenter is. Nothing in this series has been predictable for me and I love that. It’s more interesting that way. A recommended read.

I still have a bunch of questions so I wasn't exactly happy with the ending.

To be honest I wanted more of evil Lily than I wanted more of Selena and the crew.
I still recommend this book and the series.

Amazing Book!

I really loved the end of this series even if I would have liked a bit of a different ending for Lily. Selena grew up so much over this series & it was amazing to go along that journey with her learning to accept, trust & confide in others as well as herself.

Really good series!

I was looking for something different when I came across this series. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it is. The story pulls you in and keeps you there... even through all four books.

Selena faces some hard decisions, and there are no outcomes from those decisions that don't result in death for those she loves. This is a fantastic conclusion to a brilliant series.
I look forward to the next story to come from Kel Carpenter.

I absolutely loved this series especially the last two books, however there are few loose ends that I cannot forget about. For one how Lucy story ended up, it leaves an open-ending that there may be something more same goes for Blair🥲

As the last book of the series….I wish there were more. I want to explore the world after “happily ever after”. A look into Lucas’s life containing Lily. The struggle of that. Even Kayla growing into her powers. A book about Blair and Alec. Something.
