As a fan of Cami Checketts, I am pleased to award 4-stars for this 2nd book of the Survive the Romance series. The story is definitely interesting and entertaining. There is also adventure, mystery, and suspense. Where Ms. Checketts loses points with me for this book is the believability factor. Tanner and Rania go from complete strangers to “I love you and can’t live without you” within hours of meeting each other. This unbelievable transition happened without any pretense of a reasonable foundation, especially given Tanner’s and Rania’s past romantic history. In addition, when Tanner fought with the “bad guy” on the boat, the turning point was when they were both in the water duking things out, Rania saves the day when she threw a gun to Tanner and he miraculously caught it and used it to bash the bad guy in the head. Sorry, Cami, but the lack of believability cost you a five-star award.
Tanner and Rania are immediately thrown into an almost impossible and terrifying situation but Tanner is more afraid of losing his heart to the extremely beautiful Rania than losing the challenge. Both have been hurt before and are guarded, she's sassy and fiesty , he's gorgeous and determined. These two were fun and flirty even when they were in scary and dangerous situation's, I loved the mystery and intrigue add in the romance and swoony but clean kisses and this one has all the feels and is another winner in this new series.
What an adventure! Seriously exciting and terrifying! Who can stand being locked up in a dungeon and trying to escape a creepy Mansion. Lots of twists. Super fun read! Rating: PG, clean, discussion of human trafficking but not detailed.
2. Romancing the Escape 4 stars I purchased a copy of the clean post military romance Romancing the Escape in the 10 book collection Survive the Romance boxset by Cami Checketts and this review was given freely. Ahh. Yeah. This one week experience is literally and emotionally dark. A bit too repetitive in restating Tanner and Raina’s trust issues as the sources behind them. This is an action packed instant attraction romance with a dark theme, some action and suspense, a huge misunderstanding which results in both injury and a rift between Tanner and Raina but also contains the happy themes of reconciliation and forgiveness. In order to earn money to fight human trafficking, Former Navy SEAL Tanner McKay and Raina Williams are given the task to escape a locked dungeon in a barricaded abandon house on an isolated former drug runner and human trafficking island plus escape the island in six days with only silverware as tools. Unfortunately, mixed emotions and a criminal attack complicate things. 3. Romancing the Boat 4 stars I purchased a copy of the clean post military romance Romancing the Boat in the 10 book collection Survive the Romance boxset by Cami Checketts and this review was given freely. The story spans two weeks and contains a touch of irony in that this is a blooming in faith novel centered around the disillusioned, childhood abuse surviving, yoga instructor Bloom Jorgenson. This novel runs concurrent with Romancing the Escape detailing the week former Navy Seal Tagg Gunnell falls in love with the cautious and free spirited Bloom while he is at Angel Falls Mountain Retreat in Colorado investigating a human trafficking ring but then quickly breezes through Bloom’s life during the week Tanner and Bloom spend apart. Unfortunately their romance is complicated by child abuse related disillusionment, Tagg’s emergent flight to an unconscious Tanner, Bloom’s jealous co-worker Holly, and Tagg’s reality show week sailing to complete a multi-island scavenger hunt. Contains a brief brush with danger but has an overall lighter feel than prior novels which is provided through a precocious twelve year old, Tagg’s respectful persistence of Bloom, and by Blooms quirky character. 4. Don’t Miss the Moment: Excerpt I purchased a copy of the cute clean excerpt Don’t Miss the Moment in the 10 book collection Survive the Romance boxset by Cami Checketts and this review was given freely. This short excerpt is a prelude to Romancing the Boat in that it depicts Angel Falls Mountain Retreat in Colorado’s owner Gavin Strong’s and his son Austin’s awkward first meeting with Kari. 5. Romancing the Mountain 4 Stars I purchased a copy of the clean post military novel Romancing the Mountain in the 10 book collection Survive the Romance boxset by Cami Checketts and this review was given freely. A mixed up story spanning two weeks which consists of a strong attraction and misconceptions blended with an eventful camping trip, friendly banter, living with a modeling related eating disorder and a kidnapping. Axel Dexter and his assistant Emerald Taylor each scheme to join the adventure week featuring the cast person they are attracted to, rafting adventure week eight featuring Britton’s adventure guide younger sister Kingsley for Axel and, week four’s six day one hundred and ten mile walking Rocky Mountain Adventure featuring ex-Navy SEAL sniper McKenzie “Ace” Fuller for Emerald. Breezes over Denzel and Sarah’s medieval castle experience. 6. Romancing the Castle 4 stars An instant attraction leads to a night of indiscretion with consequences, regrets and an unrequited loved that spans 10 years. Contains a fair amount of self-examination and doubt, a cute and unfiltered nine year old, and a happy ending. This novel contains vivid descriptions, a couple who struggles with instant attraction and broken family relationships, as well as an adventure reality show week reenacting medieval castle life. To win $500,000.00 to expand her food banks, single mom and Idaho/Utah based restaurant/food bank entrepreneur Sarah Jenkins must partner with her son’s father, retired Boston born Navy SEAL Denzel Jefferson.
Tanner may think he wants to avoid women but his heart has other ideas, will his head or his heart win the battle? I have to say Raina is very patient with Tanner, I would have stabbed him as he slept with the blunt steak knife! I know he has baggage but how Raina didn't end up with whiplash is beyond me! Their challenge was horrific and whilst it is very suited to the battles fought by their charities, it had to be mentally and emotionally exhausting! But they didn't give up and you have to give them respect for not crumbling. Two very different books, with two very different challenges and two successes...I am looking forward to book three out on 1st February, let's hope they are also successful. There is a slight blip where Tanner becomes 'Tagg' on the Island - I did have to reread that sentence before realising it was a typo not me being ditzy! I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
First let me say I have lived every one of Cami Checketts series...until this one. The plot is good but so many pages are spent on the "thoughts" of Rania and Tanner that you lose the story and spend to much time in the characters heads. I actually had to go check her other books to make sure I was reading one of her current books and not one from her early writing days. The back story of trafficking could gave helped us understand the characters. Why did Rania and Tanner feel so passionately about stopping trafficking? How was Rania betrayed (mentioned but not explained)? While the is no explicit sex there is plenty of "admiring each others bodies" and scenes like Rania, "I feel so much better when your body is touching mine." They've knoe each other 2 days at best either this phrase. I made myself finish the first book on this series but couldn't finish this one.
You get to meet all of the retired Navy Seals at the beginning of book 1. They all draw you in with their fantastic personalities. 8 different couples with 8 different treasure hunts or missions. Each one with a prize to be won for the female counter parts’ charity. And all of it set up by a ex special forces, billionaire (not a spoiler if you’ve read book 1 LOL) matchmaker. I truly enjoyed Tess and Britt’s story in Romancing the Treasure, but I literally COULD. NOT. READ. FAST. ENOUGH for Tanner and Rania! And I might have cried when I got to the end of the teaser for Romancing the Boat. Is it possible to expire from anticipation? Surely I can last a week and a half... maybe... ;o) LOL!
This is the second in a series called Survive the Romance. Rania wants the half millionaire for her charity which fights human trafficking. Former SEAL Tanner works as a rescuer for the trafficked people. What do they have to survive for each of them to get $500,000 apiece? Another adventure and romance with two emotionally damaged people who are strong but determined to serve by rescuing the forgotten. Checketts does a good job of highlighting this increasingly terrible world blight as well as offering romance.
Raina and Tanner are trying to escape from an island to win half a million dollars. What's the catch? They are locked in a home with a jail in the bottom and all escape routes are boarded up my and locked tightly. They will have to use all their brain power and wits to come out on top. Can they do it in the 6 days? Can they resist falling in love? Find out in this fast paced story!
Cami Checketts has given us an escape room type story except it is escape the island. How can Rania and Tanner escape an island to gain $500,000 for Raina’s charity. This is an exciting adventure with romance thrown into the mix.
This is a very interesting and exciting story. The danger they face keeps you on your toes. This is a very good series. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
They both have been hurt, but Tanner and Rania together just make sense. I love that they both fight trafficking, though that house sounded scary! I liked how things turned out!
Wow another good book to read in this series. I enjoy the romance, the adventures, and most of all the cleanliness of these romances. I was on pins and needles with this one all the way through. Excellent!!!
This was a very clean romance. It was a little bit intense it's some areas. If you're sensitive to trafficking it would be a little much. Looking forward to the next one in this series.
This second book in the Surviving the Romance series is a fun read. Rania and Tanner have a great adventure trying to escape from a former drug/human trafficing house on a Caribbean island. It has lots of action and suspense and some great romance.
This is truly an exciting series. I love how two people who find themselves in dire circumstances are finding their way out as well as finding romance through these trials.
Would you take on multiple challenges to win $500,000? Get ready for the fight of a lifetime when unplanned ruffians, with powerful 'heat', don't put out the welcome mat!

Another great book in this series by Cami Checkettes. Tanner an ex navy seal had excepted a challenge to look after a woman on a mysterious hunting game and in exchange he would get half a million dollars and she would get the same. These books are in a series and so should be read as such but don’t have to be. They will be exciting in any order. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
