Young people have changed.
Their world has too.
Why should youth ministry stay the same?

This book is for every youth leader who knows that change is part of youth ministry. It's for adults and mentors whose hearts both sing and break over young people. And it is for courageous pastors who will do whatever it takes to faithfully serve their teenagers.

That's right, this book is for you.

Building on over a dozen years of research and intensive work with more than 50 youth ministries and 100 youth leaders, we've developed a step-by-step innovation process that equips youth leaders and their teams to effectively serve teenagers' changing lives and support their long-term faith. Sticky Faith Innovation will guide your team time and time again as you propel your compassion, creativity, and courage toward cultivating a youth ministry that responds to the changing needs of your young people.

"FYI has done it again! Grounded in solid research and deep learning, this book offers new insights that help youth ministry leaders grow in compassion for our young people even as we ourselves are transformed by our relationship with them." --Sarah F. Farmer, Indiana Wesleyan University, co-author of Raising Hope and Joy: A Guide for Youth Ministry

"Sticky Faith Innovation offers a solid and proven way of taking teenagers' faith and life seriously, and guiding you through a process to get there. You won't find a more helpful or empowering book for your team." --Chap Clark, lead pastor at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, co-author of Sticky Faith and author of Hurt 2.0: Inside the World of Today's Teenagers

"Through compelling stories, practical steps, and scriptural grounding, Sticky Faith Innovation will coach your team through the innovation process and inspire you to experiment in your ministry in ways that leave it--and you--changed." --Jen Bradbury, minister of youth and family at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, author of The Real Jesus and The Jesus Gap

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! AND I AM NOT SURE IF I SAID IT YET...SO THANK YOU!!!

I am beyond grateful for the team at FYI! A huge shout out to Caleb and Steve for writing this amazing book that is also an incredible resource! A lot of youth ministry books I have read throughout my years of being in youth ministry gave me great ideas and they are helpful, but at the end, I felt drained, I felt like "wow, I've got a lot work I have to do". I am usually left more empty and exhausted thinking about all that I have to do. Sticky Faith Innovation left me encouraged and hopeful for the future of youth ministry. There is still work to be done, but what this book does is so much more than great ideas, it's stories from youth leaders like you and me! Real and honest stories that I can see happening in my own context. This book doesn't give you that one thing that promises to fix all your problems, instead it's a map full of encouragement, stories and honest conversations. I love it and can't say enough about it. This book does include ideas and gives you all those resources as well. Thank you, thank you and I can't wait to share this with my team and begin our own innovation journey!

I have been in youth ministry for 15 plus years and have become confident that what typical youth ministry looks like in the church no longer works. That is why the Church needs this book. It offers practical ways that anyone can discern with God's Spirit how God is calling a ministry to meet the needs of a specific group of students and families. The contents in this book, gave me and my ministry new life and helped us transform our ministry. This is hands down one of the top 5 books I have read for people in youth ministry and one of the best to come out in the last 5 years. Grab this book and some friends and see the amazing things that God will do.

GAME CHANGING! Defines the need for innovation in student ministry and then provides an informed framework on how to do that. Each chapter has questions that can be worked through individually or as a team (or both). It is rooted in research and actual student ministries from around the US and world who implemented the suggested framework. Practical for both small and large student ministry communities. This work is clearly written from a place of love for youth workers and students. So refreshing to have a resource that wants me to thrive in my ministry context!

I don't know about you, but the complexities and harsh reality of 2020 has left me wondering how youth workers figure out a way forward? Discouragement can hit hard. This book was a much needed reminder to have courage and embrace the opportunity to really listen to what teens and families actually need. This book served as more of guide and cheerleader. Providing a step by step framework and process to innovate in my context, not someone else's. This isn't a book you read, highlight, and put back on a shelf. This is a book you write in, and pray through and then come back to as you implement it. Buy this book and work through it with your team, you will not be disappointed.

This is a really good book on youth ministry innovation. And the truth is, youth ministry NEEDS to innovate. It has a practical process combined with solid truths about innovation. It gives permission to experiment, exercise courage, fail, and listen to students at your church to better understand their perspectives and then develop ideas based on those understandings. It would be a great read for churches that are looking for a starting point on innovation in YM. Need your head pastor or a youth team to get their heads and hearts wrapped around innovation? The Christian church is only one generation away from extinction.

That statement has been true for more than 2,000 years. But in a society assailed as never before by apathy, secularism, materialism, and agnosticism, congregations have to take seriously the challenges faced by today's youth and young adults.

Sticky Faith is a powerful and effective tool for Christians to connect with the individuals who will be leading the church into the future. Although designed to specifically train youth ministers and leaders, the book is an outstanding invitation for Christians of all ages to engage with youth and young adults and communicate the virtues and values of authentic Christianity.

From their research with the Fuller Youth Institute of Fuller Theological Seminary, Steven Argue and Caleb Roose have boiled down the essential needs of today's youth to only three: identity, belonging, and purpose. After that introduction, the book provides a strategy for developing programs that meet these needs and minister to youth and young adults.

The book is not a template for local churches to implement a youth ministry program; it's an invitation for local churches and their leaders to develop their own programs that build on the needs and talents of each particular congregation. It's not so much a bag of tricks as a recipe for creating a menu that meets the real needs of real people.

Anyone who cares about making Christianity vibrant and dynamic—instead of nearly extinct—will benefit from reading this book. So will their local congregations.

This new book by Steven Argue and Caleb Roose is a must read in 2021! We all know that ministry has been challenging over the last 10 months and has required a lot of adapting, change, and creativity. While it may be daunting to think about innovating in such a time as this, I wonder if this is precisely the moment to reimagine ministry with teenagers. This book lays out a clear innovating process that is easy to utilize no matter your ministry context, demographic, or size. I've used the process outlined in this book and it works. It helped my ministry team explore new possibilities for inviting our students to think about their identity, belonging, and purpose. If you are involved in any way with ministry to teenagers, this is a book to read this year. I highly recommend it.

This book couldn’t be more timely. As ministry leaders we are all looking to find new and creative ways to care for students and introduce them to Jesus. As we continue to navigate a global pandemic innovation has never been more important. In this book Steve Argue and Caleb Roose do an excellent job of framing their research in practical ways that are easy to implement regardless of your context. This is a must read for all youth workers or anyone that has a heart for today’s young people.

This book is good, not great. It is probably the least good book I have read from FYI, which still means it is a viable resource. Being the least good FYI book is like being the least good flavor of ice cream. It is still ice cream and is still fantastic, there are just better ones out there. If you are going to purchase this book and have not yet read Growing Young or the original Sticky Faith, read those before you pick this one up.

Practical, hopeful, team focused, and process oriented. Written from a hopeful perspective, I can see many youth leaders loving the practical process laid out at each chapters end. I'll be wearing out the pages of this one. I'd highly recommend this one for anyone looking to the future and leading change!
