I really enjoyed many aspects of this story, but there times when the author just drives me mad. He has things happening that just shouldn’t and seems to forget things he has already written. There are urgent storylines still left hanging from the previous book. The author has created a universe where they are constantly attacked and there are numerous enemies both outside and inside the empire, yet even when they recognise they are being threatened he still has Chris ignoring the problems just so he can write another incident It's not that I object to what happens, it's that the way he sets it up is all wrong. Chris is highly experienced, but he still has him walking into situations that a two year old would recognise as a problem. The final annoyance is the book ends with a bit of a cliff-hanger. I would like to give more than 3 stars, but I really can’t, in fact at some points in the book I was ready to give just one.
