Opposites don’t just attract.

They captivate.

They entice.

They beckon.

As the medic for the Blackbridge Security team, he was just fine hanging out at the office in his spare time.

Jude Morris was…boring.

He didn’t need excitement.

He wasn’t a thrill-seeker.

Then he met a woman who was.

Parker Maxwell, the only woman able to captivate, entice, and beckon him, was his antithesis.

The up to his down.

The light to his dark.

The hot to his cold.

He couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

She didn’t seem to notice him.

It’s going to take heroic measures for this guy to win the girl.

There was so much to love about this story but the fun part for me was reading the scenes that ran parallel to Calculated Risk (Blackbridge Security Book 5) and seeing how the other side of things played out.

HEROIC MEASURES is the sixth book in the Blackbridge Security Series, each book in the series can be read as a standalone but since it revolves around the men that work at Blackbridge Security I would recommend reading them in the order they have been released in order to avoid any spoilers, and that would also give you some addition background to this story. Jude Morris is the teams Medic which means he usually doesn't go out into the field but, he was tasked with teaching a gun safety class along side his co-worker and friend Quinton when he meets Parker Maxwell in this story.

There is an instant connection between the two which is rather surprising since they are COMPLETE OPPOSITES, this is beyond having different interests their personalities are Polar Opposites. Jude is quiet, reserved, a workaholic, and a homebody, where Parker is very outgoing, a go-getter, and enjoys being the center of attention.

There is a little angst in this story but nothing over the top and you may pick up on what is happening and why rather quickly if you pay attention to the clues. I loved watching Parker fall for Jude for me it's always fun to watch the party girl find the one that she can't be without and that is exactly what happens here.

Marie James did a wonderful job with giving us two very different characters hat you can't help but rooting for right from the start. If you enjoy Steamy Romantic Suspense or the Opposites Attract Trope I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

Puff stole the show

I had high hopes for Jude because he was a virgin and I usually really like virgin H tropes. But he wasn’t as dominant as I felt he easily could have been. And Parker was annoying. She bothered me in the previous book and she was just as bad in this one. And the plot wasn’t bad, but not as engaging as the previous books. Honestly, Puff stole the show, again 😂

Jude .....he really is quite the enigma....and I still don’t feel as if I know everything about him. He is completely unexpected.....shy yet determined, caring yet guarded, steadfast yet unpredictable.......I just loved everything about him.

If ever there was a perfect man for Parker then Jude is definitely her match.

Parker is a fantastic character....she’s strong and unapologetic. Determined not to become the victim of love and rely on anyone male.....her example of male behaviour from her sperm donor does not fill her eyes with hearts, flowers and romantic notions so she is her own person and lives life by her own rules.

The shy and mysterious medic catches her eye and their connection is electric.
I loved this pair together and the whole story was super charged, suspenseful had me turning pages furiously.

This series is getting better with every story.....and of course the out spoken parrot is still there for light relief and red cheeks!!

OK a couple of things about this story. First off, it's all about sex. Almost every scene in this book is about the two characters having sex. The traditional roles are reversed in that the girl's the player. There's a whole lot of angst. There's a whole lot of confusion about feelings and assumptions. I had to respect the guy for standing up for himself, but I struggled with her emotional baggage.

Overall, though, it was a decent romance. The comic relief bird was totally unbelievable - birds don't think and process language like humans so you truly do have to suspend your disbelief. All that dialogue was wasted; it would have been better if the guys were speaking and the bird just chirping in randomly.

Callie Dalton and Jacob Morgan were excellent choices for the audiobook. I love those two narrators and they made the story even better.

Heroic measures is book 6 in the BBS series. We met Jude & Parker in Calculated Risk and the timeline from this book runs concurrently with the previous book. Jude is a quiet shy virgin who is the medic for BBS and Parker is outgoing and not afraid of her sexuality. Parker enjoys picking up men but doesn't believe in love so she never enters relationships. When Parker meets Jude she starts to feel all sorts of feelings that take her out of her comfort levels.

Will Jude be able to convince Parker to drop her guard and to let him in, Only time will tell. We also get glimpses of Puff Daddy throughout the book which always makes me giggle.

3.75 stars—HEROIC MEASURES is the sixth instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult BLACKBRIDGE SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the team who work for Blackbridge Security. This is thirty-one year old medic Jude Morris, and bartender Parker Maxwell’s story line. HEROIC MEASURES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: The events of HEROIC MEASURES run parallel to, and cross over with the events of book five CALCULATED RISK.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jude and Parker) HEROIC MEASURES follows the acrimonious relationship between thirty-one year old medic Jude Morris, and bartender Parker Maxwell. Jude Morris met Parker Maxwell when he assisted a self-defence course for vulnerable women but Jude struggled with his attraction to Parker, a woman who didn’t do relationships, offering only a friends with benefits kind of affair. Late night rendezvous were little more than drive-by $exathons, and in this Jude battled between head and heart knowing Parker didn’t want the same thing but when Parker needed help from the team at Blackbridge Security, Jude found himself on the outside looking in when he was all but dismissed by our story line heroine. What ensues is the back and forth, highly sexual relationship between Parker and Jude, and the potential fall-out as Parker is targeted by a man whose family life is spiralling out of control.

Parker Maxwell doesn’t do relationships having seen first hand the tragedy of unrequited love but Parker has secrets that are about to be exposed, secrets that place her in the direct line of fire. Jude Morris fell hard for our story line heroine but Jude wanted to be more than a ‘booty’ call, or a port to let off some angry, pent up energy. Refusing to become Parker’s sexual outlet, Jude walks away without looking back.

The relationship between Jude and Parker is erotic and intense, as their times together are strictly for $ex, and the lack of communication is stifling, at best. Parker, herself, struggles with friendships including with that of her best friend Hayden (Calculated Risk), and in this, she continues to push all of Jude’s proverbial buttons, and gets upset when Jude no longer wants to play along. The back and forth, up and down, lack of communication and emotional fall out between our leading couple is frustrating yet impassioned-Parker tends to provoke Jude at every turn. The $ex scenes are provocative, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Deacon Blackbridge, Quinten and Hayden (Calculated Risk), Gaige Ward, as well as Wren Nelson and his fouled mouthed bird Puff Daddy. Gaige’s story is next.

HEROIC MEASURES is a story of dysfunctional family relationships and secrets, obsession, retaliation, acceptance and love. The premise is inviting but the majority of the story line focuses on the sexual relationship; the romance is hot and steamy; the characters are energetic and stubborn .

Okay...I loved this book, I didn't want it to end. Enough said. 4½ stars
Parker was beautifully broken and just waiting for the right guy (ok, clichè but true! It's ok!) to break down her walls. And he did it while she didn't even realize it.
Parker stole the show in this book, to me. Everyone else, Jude included, was secondary. She just might be my favorite book heroine of the year.

Heroic Measures (Blackbridge Security #6) by Marie James
4 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Cheating, Stalking
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Jude is quiet, likes his alone time and isn't looking for anything serious. When he's roped in to helping out at a gun safety class, the last thing he expects is to see someone who finally catches his eye. Despite his reservations on the opposite sex, he knows that there's nothing wrong with finding someone to pass the time with, but he's also not quite sure if that's what he's looking for.

Parker is a take no prisoners, alpha woman all the way. She talks her good friend in to attending a gun safety class, but once there, she sees the shy book type instructor and can't help but salivate. When she shoves her business card at him and tells him when and where, she isn't quite sure if she'll see him or not.

Jude and Parker fall down the rabbit hole in their friendship. But, when danger lurks around the corner for Parker, Jude will stop at nothing to make sure she's safe. Will Parker let him help her? Or are they doomed to just be friends with benefits because neither of them knows how to have a true, real relationship?

This is a fun story, but the romance was somewhat strange for me. It was more of a fling that turned in to something more. While they had a connection, I don't necessarily think it was the strongest of connections, but it worked for the story.

4.5 Star review of Heroic Measures (Blackbridge Security #6) by Marie James
I enjoy romantic suspense stories and Heroic Measures was a good example of the genre. It was a well written, entertaining story that ticked the boxes for me and is Jude Morris, the medic for the Blackbridge Security team and daredevil Parker Maxwell’s story.
These two could not be more opposite and yet they make a great couple . However Parker has been hurt in the past and has no intention of becoming involved with Jude, although she is the first to admit she loves the thrill of the chase.
There is something about the shy Jude that calls to her and as their relationship develops the walls they have surrounded themselves with begin to crack. Usually it is the man pursuing the woman, so this story is a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately Jude falls hard and fast whilst Parker wants to stay as friends with benefits. Who will win the relationship tussle?
There were some twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and the story was well balanced with suspense, steam and witty banter. The camaraderie of the Blackbridge security team is obvious as you read and this was a book I was sad to see end.

I love this series by Marie James and I have been looking forward to Jude's story and while I enjoyed it. I had a really hard time with Parker. You meet her in the previous book because they run simultaneously to one another and I really didn't care for her. I thought she wasn't the best friend to someone she was supposedly love and cared for in Hayden. And there were moments in this book where she is extremely selfish and immature in her reactions especially when it came to Hayden and her relationship with Deacon. Then there were the moments with Jude. They had electric chemistry, but she was just plain mean to him at times. I have no issue with a story about friends with benefits or the like, but the way in which Parker treats Jude makes her small. Jude is a character that I loved. This guy has a lot of insecurities and issues because of his shyness and his feelings and actions are justified. It is almost frustrating because as you have gotten to know him over the course of the books you can understand the type of person he is, and the worst parts of him come out because of Parker. Although they came out with Parker and only Parker. Which she truly deserves. I am happy to say that by the end of the book, while I still can't say that I like Parker, I do not dislike her as much. And that is the saving grace here, and why this is a three star read for me. I wanted more from Parker and had I gotten more growth and change it would have been a four star because I can't get enough of this group of me.

Heroic Measures has you on the edge of your seat for a very good portion of Jude and Parker's story. These two frustrated me to the point I was yelling at my kindle. Two people that are drawn together but allow their insecurities to rule their hearts get caught up in misunderstandings, hurtful actions and words left unsaid. Parker is an independent woman who has allowed the mistakes of others to cause her shame and make her live a life based on these misconceptions. Jude is the man with no experience but knows what he wants but is totally lost and confused. As these two dance around the chemistry and connection you will be taken on a journey of drama, suspense, passion and lets not forget the witty banter that Puff Daddy always provides for our entertainment. A story that will at times make your heart ache but ultimately will end with your heart full. Can I just say that Jude might lack the experience but these two together will heat up your kindle to have it on fire.

This was really a fun read the story was fun and flirty had a cast of characters that make you laugh out loud all the time and then throw Puffy Daddy into the mix, and it was downright hilarious most of the time.

Parker was one of those unapologetic and fiercely independent characters but, she has been letting her past rule her life in the way she sees men but, slowly, one man is making her think that being stuck to someone may not all be a bad thing.

Jude was one of those characters that blossomed before our eyes he may be the shy type and even blush a time or two but, if he wanted to he could flip that switch anytime he wants and become a full on possessive alpha but, for the most part he was handling Parker with care. We loved him from the moment we met him, and that scene with Brooks in his office, I couldn't stop laughing.

One of the things we love about this series is its characters, they are totally awesome, and including Puffy Daddy with his filthy mouth.

There is so many things to love about this story, the playful banter between the characters their chemistry some really hot and sexy scenes their sexual challenges and games but, it also goes hand in hand with both characters having insecurities, and they mess up quite a bit along the way. We will admit we felt bad for Jude a time or two because of how Parker kept typing him up in knots only because she was constantly and war with her heart and head but, that sexy shy medic is about to turn her world upside down and maybe just maybe he may win the beautiful girl's heart after all. We loved it.

I have loved and enjoyed every single character in the series. But I just can't find myself liking Parker. I understand her reasoning, but I still find it difficult to connect with her.

Jude is just the sweetest guy ever. He put himself out there, even though he is extremely shy, because she was the one who approaches him first. But then she just tosses him aside like that or just be plain mean to him. I ain't about that. But I definitely loved that he knows his worth and didn't let her in whenever it suits her. He was definitely stern at that.

Despite that, I still enjoy the story, like usual with Marie James' books. I loved that the other guys made their appearances. Even their women made appearances. And Puff Daddy, of course!

Jude and Parker are opposites that attract like a magnet. Jude is a medic within the Blackbridge Security. He is shy and not a thrill seeker. Parker is adventurous and independent. She has walls built up that Jude will have to work hard to get past. Can the opposites find love and have a relationship?

Jude and Parker... where do I start.. I loved everything about this book.. I loved every second, every word, EVERYTHING!!.

Jude is the medic for the Blackbridge Security team.. he is asked by his boss to help Quinten out with the upcoming gun safety class.. (Quinten and Haydens book).. Jude is a very shy guy.. especially when it comes to beautiful women..

Parker works at a local bar as a bartender.. she doesn't really need to work but she enjoys it. She had some trauma & heartache in her past and it has pretty much closed her off to any form of relationship with a man.. but when she meets Jude she feels something...

Jude & Parker are both stubborn but when they FINALLY get there heads out of there ass and admit their feelings to each other it gets inferno up in that b!tch!!

and last but not least.. we can not forget about everyone's favorite foul mouth bird... Puff Daddy doing what he does best.. he cracks me up with his antics... Thank you Marie for giving us him alongside our favorite Blackbridge men..

NOW GIVE ME GAGE!!!! Pretty Please...

Another great addition to Marie's Blackbridge Security series, in this one we get Jude's story, the medic in the crew...... quiet, shy, nerdy, until Parker blows into his life!!

We've met Parker in a previous book, she is Hayley's best friend, a beautiful and confident woman, used to being the center of attention, not interested in relationships with men due to the trauma her mother went through, which has caused her commitment issues. She loves a bit of a challenge, a quiet and shy man, who she can bring out of his shell and to his knees. She meets Jude at the firing range and automatically he is pushing all her attraction buttons.

At 31yrs old, Jude is a virgin and a shy and quiet guy, likes keeping to himself, observing from the shadows, is used to be looked over by women for men with stronger personalities. He is instantly attracted to Parker, but knows he is out of his league just by looking at her, and avoids her at all costs. But she unexpectedly corners him and asks him back to her house.

This is a good role reversal read, where its the woman with the experience showing the guy how its done, and she is the one with the commitment issues. These two are polar opposites, but boy their attraction is off the scale!! Jude may well be a virgin but he is a fast learner and can just keep going so it seems!!! Hawt and steamy scenes as they challenge each other to keep going!!

But emotions quickly get involved and Jude falls hard and fast for Parker, but she is having none of it, and keeps trying to keep it a no strings attached meet up with Jude, but she is lying to herself and just can't face it!!

Things get a bit complicated with some added drama when a stalker gets involved, but still Parker tries to keep her emotions out of it and Jude has had enough of being used and starts to put his foot down.

I loved Jude, a lovely guy with a heart of gold, his innocence is endearing and his prowess astounding!! Plenty of passion with some drama, some social awkwardness and some laugh out loud humour from that dirty bird Puff Daddy!! I'm looking forward to Gaige's story.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Jude Morris is the medic for the Blackridge Security team, and would hang out at the office in his spare time. Helped out with the gun safety courses sometimes. He noticed Parker maxwell in that class immediately, she was everything he wasn't.
Paker enjoys spending time with men, never getting close because she didn't believe in commitment. There is something about Jude that draws them together. After their one night together, she knows that he will be clingy, so she wants to push him away. But she can't get him out of her mind.
When something happens at work, Parker goes to Jude, she doesn't want to talk. Jude wants to know what happened or she can leave. Parker can't believe what he is saying, so she leaves. Both of them are hurting because she can't trust what she is feeling for him.
Can they figure out who is after her and why? Will they give in to the feelings they are feeling or move on? Is there a chance for a relationship between Jude and Parker?
I love this series and I think this is my favorite story so far. I love that crazy bird Puff Daddy too, he is too funny and has the best timing.
This series has a suspenseful edge that will keep you intrigued and wanting to find out what happens next. And to know what happens with the couples involved. This author is worth recommending to anyone who loves alpha men and the women who love them.

This is book #6 in the Blackbridge Security series, but it can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. Jude and Parker’s story is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
Jude is unbearably shy and at 31, is still a virgin. When he sees Parker for the first time, he is mesmerized but holds no hope that he could ever have her. Parker is a confident woman who happens to like a shy guy every now and then. Honestly, Jude never stood a chance when she set her mind to having him. I enjoyed their interactions. Jude is a special hero that I fell hard for. He is a good guy with a heart that is soft and squishy. It did not surprise me that he falls fast and hard for Parker. I loved Parker’s confusion over her feelings for Judy. The girl never thought of happily ever after until Jude shows her it could be real.
There is a lot of steam, some awkwardness, some humor, and some moments of danger woven into this story where both characters experience personal growth. I really did not want to put the book down. I love the characters and the world that surrounds Blackbridge Security and I look forward to reading more books in the series.

Heroic Measures is the newest book in the Blackbridge Security series and the first book that I’ve read in this series.

This is only the second book that I’ve ready by this author but it definitely kept me intrigued. The angst and suspense made this story for me.

Jude Morris is the geek and know-it-all of the Blackbridge group and is also very shy. At 31, he’s never had a girlfriend and feels terrified of being rejected.

Parker, is the opposite of Jude in every sense of the word. She’s beautiful and brimming with confidence and is attracted to the shy and reserved guys. When she meets Jude at the gun range she is insanely attracted to him. Parker has an interesting past which has greatly affected the way she moves through life. She doesn’t want to become like her mother and refuses to let her emotions get the better of her.

I felt that the character development needed some further work as it all seemed to happen right at the end of this book. Both characters are equally stubborn and refuse to see their inner worth until the very end.

I did struggle to read this book a bit but persevered and in the end, I’m glad that I did.

This is the sixth book in the Blackbridge Security series. It is a stand alone, but we do meet Parker and Jude in the previous book, Calculated Risk.

Jude is the medic for the team. He's shy and awkward. Oh and he's a 31 year old virgin!

Parker is the wild one. No relationships. No feelings. Just fun times. She's also Hayden's bestfriend.

Basically the stereotypical roles are reversed for this story.

It's a great read. I really liked the changes in both characters. Parker settled down and found her heart. Jude came out of his shell.

I did NOT think I’d like this book. Male virgins as leads really aren’t a character type that I like to read, especially considering that Jude is 31 in this book. I’m so glad I gave it a chance. You can tell that Jude and Parker’s parents really messed them both up - though a little more detail about Jude’s background would have been nice. These two didn’t seem like they’d work, but they worked so well. As usual I loved seeing all of the guys again and Puff Daddy is hilarious. Wren is still, oddly, my favorite and I wish that he’d get a second book.

Unlikable Female MC

The female main character is a really crappy person. She uses her mother’s situation as an excuse to act exactly like the father she hates. I actually feel really bad that Jude wound up with such a manipulative, self-centered person. I can not stress enough just how much I disliked her. He deserves so much better than to be treated the way she did him, right up until the very end of the story.

Meeting Parker at a gun safety class was not where Jude expected to finally meet a woman who elicited a reaction from him. Too bad for him that Parker seems not to want anything from him but some no strings fun. Is she ashamed of him because he's the opposite of her? Because he's shy, awkward, and inexperienced? Or is there something deeper going on with her?

Parker doesn't do love or relationships. Then she meets her opposite, and she can't help her insane physical response to him. But can she give him more than just fun? She isn't sure she's capable of more, but he just may be the man to get her to try. If she can get past the baggage her parents have left her with.

Sometimes it really is the shy ones that have the most going on, and that's certainly the case with the Blackbridge Security paramedic. Though Jude may be shy, awkward and inexperienced, once someone comes along and teaches him? Whew!!! He is such a sweetheart and I was rooting for him the whole way through. I had a much harder time with Parker, though, even knowing what had given her the internal scars that made her the way she was. But in the end, I gave her a big pass because Jude chose her. The story itself is fabulous - sweet, steamy, and entertaining. And I can't forget the little bit at the end that gave me a peek into the next story - I can already tell Gaige is going to have his hands full in Sleight of Hand ...

This is a fun story, but the romance was somewhat strange for me. It was more of a fling that turned into something more. While they had a connection, I don't necessarily think it was the strongest of connections, but it worked for the story.

After binge reading all the previous books in this series I have been anxiously awaiting Jude’s story. And let me say this sweet virgin man did not disappoint me, at all. And he’s not all sweet either. He might be the quiet studious one in the group, but let's just say he surprises everyone….including Parker.
To be honest, I was not sold on Parker in the previous book Calculated Risk. She seemed to be very distant and not really interested in what was going on in other people's lives. The reason did come to light, but it definitely took her a while to warm up to everyone, including sharing herself with the readers. There were several times I was shocked by something she did or said. And in the end, I got it. But it took me a while to relate to her. I will give it to Parker though, she is bold and went after what she wanted initially, and that was Jude. But she was not thinking she would want him again, and again. Jude pushed her out of her comfort zone prompting her to really think about what she wanted and needed in her life.
This was not a slow burn as the pair couldn’t stay away from each other from the get go. And fell into a friend's benefits arrangement. Jude was not afraid to ask for what he wanted or needed, and set some boundaries without pushing Parker too much. I enjoyed Jude setting boundaries because it seems that it is usually the heroine doing so in books. The suspense was woven throughout and it was just enough to have readers guessing and exciting. We also got to see a lot of the Blackbridge Security crew and of course, Puff Daddy who continues his hilarious antics and I couldn't get enough of him!
This is not a standalone and there is a little crossover of time to Calculated Risk. Not only would I recommend this book to someone that enjoys some spice with their suspense, but the entire series! Looking forward to the next release, Sleight of Hand in September.

Heroic Measures is the sixth instalment in the Blackbridge Security romantic suspense series by Ms. James. This is the story of Jude Morris, the Blackbridge Security medic and Parker Maxwell. A quick note that although each story features a new couple, the stories do go in order and overlap so I believe they are best read in order so you are introduced to the characters the way the author intended. This couple was actually a side couple in book 5, Calculated Risk so you definitely need to read that first if you want to really see how they meet.

Jude is shy and Parker likes the shy ones and although their chemistry is off the charts there is a huge misunderstanding since neither of them takes the time to express what they want. I was a bit frustrated while reading this one since you could see that they made a great couple but neither wanted to make the first move to something more than just hooking up.

As I said, this can definitely be read as a standalone as it focuses on a new couple, but for those of us who have read the prior books were thrilled to see our favorite members of the team including some great words by Puff Daddy! This was stressful read and there were times that I just wanted to reach in to the pages and force them to communicate. I was so happy to see a new installment of the Blackbridge Security guys and I love how they are always there to support each other.

Hero (Jude) 5 | Heroine (Parker) 5 | Plot 5 | Writing Style 5 | Steam 4 | Romance 3 | Angst-Suspense 5 | Darkness 1 | Humor 4 | Secondary Characters 5 | Drama-Conflict 4 | Mystery 3 | Twists 3 | Action 1 | Pacing Steady | Dual POV | MF | Twists and Turns | Security Firm | Overall 5 Stars
