Sometimes home finds us when we aren’t looking…
Devante Soles
Laurel Springs was nothing more than a dot on the map when I decided I needed a change from the fast pace of Atlanta.
I’m more surprised than anyone else when I look around one day and realize I have friends who have become family, a city that’s become a home, and a girl who's decided to make me believe in love.
Unlike me though, her past has followed her here.
A community that I once never thought I’d have, comes together with me to save her.
Eden Murphy
Chicago wasn’t for me. The bright lights, the embezzlement I should know nothing about, and the made man who changed everything - it all contributed to me leaving. I never felt safe there. Little Laurel Springs though? It’s everything I hoped it would be and more.
My coffee shop, A Whole Latte Love, isn’t doing well, but I’m close to turning a profit.
And Devante? Well he’s more than I ever could have asked for.
But Mario? He’s the one I didn’t count on coming back and demanding what I took…
Another successful couple in our favorite little town! These two characters will capture your heart and not let go. Separately they have gone through so much - together, they become even more strong.
This was another great addition to the LSERT series. It has you hooked from the beginning, starting off with some drama. It seems to start in the middle of a budding romance with the chemistry we see between Devante and Eden. But not in a way that makes you feel like you’re missing part of the story. A big part of the book is new friendships and how the book started made me feel like I was a new friend too joining the journey. Devante and Eden are finally starting to see that they are in a place where friends become family and they can be who they are.
This was Laramie’s first book involving POC as main characters. I think she did a good job writing as a White woman, however, with me being a White woman myself that opinion does not hold as much weight. I think the racial incident was handled well. Unlike some authors, who when writing a racial incident in their book will use derogatory terms, Laramie made the scene feel real without use of those terms. To me, I appreciated that, as I don’t like hearing let alone reading those terms. Especially from a White author.
Laramie stayed true to her books and made Devante an alpha male with a soft side for his woman. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and can’t wait for more!
Loved Devante and Eden. Devante and Eden are both transplants to Laurel Springs and both have pasts they have to overcome. It was nice to see all our favorites embracing them and treating them like family. I loved seeing Devante take care of Eden even after he’d sworn off love and marriage. You can see him falling for her right from the start. Eden keeps her past a secret and that kind of prevents her from really truly forming a great relationship with Devante until it all comes out in the end. Loved Devante and Cutter’s relationship, what a great friendship/partnership they have formed. And I just got to say Leigh’s mom hug made me a little teary eyed.
Laramie Briscoe writes about hard working people living in a small town and she does it well. Laurel Springs is a special place with special people. As I read this book I was really struck not only by the eventual love between the main characters, but the love shown toward them by their friends and co-workers throughout the story. There is a great sense of camaraderie within this group along with genuine friendship and respect. After relocating to Laurel Springs and for different reasons, both Devante and Eden have doubts and struggle to fit in. The group jumps in to be supportive and to let them know that they want to be there for them. Not only with words, but by helping however they can. From the beginning, I was pulling for Devante. How he treasured Eden, his patience and care gave me an indication of what kind of guy he is. There are some bumps in the road for the pair, and Eden hasn't quite escaped from her past. I struggled a little with Eden at the end. While I understood why she did something I'm not sure I agree with it. It was also great to catch up with the Laurel Springs gang and see what they have been up to. I was really engrossed with the story and read it one sitting. I recommend Devante, it's a definite must read.
Devante is Book 6 of the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT) series. It's a steamy, small-town, friends-to-lovers, found family, girl gets her hunk romance. Devante moved from Atlanta to Laurel Springs to join the LSERT. He works with cutter. He has emotional baggage stemming from years of prejudice being a person of color. Eden is a sweet girl who has moved from Chicago to get away from an abusive ex. She has opened her own coffee shop. These two have become fast friends over the last few months and really feel accepted in this small town. When Devante finds Eden in pain at work, she has a health scare, and he realizes his feelings are deeper than just friendship. He helps take care of her. Both have baggage they need to work through. What happens when Eden's past catches up with her? I really loved this couple. They had amazing chemistry, and we got a happy ending after some drama.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great addition to the LSERT series! This book focuses on Devante and Eden, who both are newer additions to the town, and both have backstories and pasts that come into play in this storyline. Eden ran away from a bad relationship and situation and opened up her shop in town and has a hard time delegating and accepting help from anyone. Devante has struggled with situations regarding his race in the past and wonders if the south is the right move for him. Throughout the story we see both race and domestic violence play large roles in their story and see how they stand up for themselves while also growing stronger together as a couple. This was a great story and I can’t wait to see what Laramie comes out with next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Laramie Briscoe is back with her swoony LSERT series and y'all what a book she gave. I'm a huge fan of this series and gahhhh, these guys are the absolute best ever.
Stepping out of her comfort zone and giving us all the beautiful words she did this go round, Devante was so so good and kept me on my toes the entire journey y'all, hooking me hard and super early on. Eden and Devante were so amazing.. unforgettable, intense, and gave me a story packed with all the heart, heat, and feels to make a classic Laramie romance.
I absolutely adore Laramie Briscoe and all her words and I cannot wait until the next in this series!
Devante is the next book in Laramie Briscoe’s LSERT series and it does not disappoint. Devante and Eden are both new to Laurel Springs but they have been embraced by the community. Devante and Eden formed a friendship that slowly developed into more. A health emergency causes them to finally admit their feelings for one another. In this story, we get to see past and new characters and see the progression of several relationships. Devante grabbed me from the start and never let go. With the tease at the end, I’m eagerly waiting the next LSERT book. I received an authors copy but I left an honest review.
Always love reading about the people in Laurel Springs and this time is no different. This book focuses on two newcomers, Devante and Eden. Devante is partners with Cutter and Eden owns the new coffee shop in town. They start as friends and when Eden has a health scare they realize they have become more than friends and how much the people of Laurel Springs have accepted them as their own. They have some ups and downs and some lack of communication, but if they accept their weaknesses and work on the they will be great assets to the community.
Heartfelt and emotional, Devante's book is the perfect example of why Laramie Briscoe is the queen of small town, blue collar romances. Eden left the big city far behind her, looking for something more. She wanted to build a place for herself in the community, to be of value. She chose Laurel Springs randomly but it was the perfect place to land. Devante left Atlanta, looking for his place. He found it totally and completely. Now he has friends who are truly there for him and a chance at forever with the other newbie in town. Their story was just the sweetest. I fell in love with both Devante and Eden and its no surprise that they fit right in with the MTF and LSERT families. They have learned from their pasts, discovered what they truly wanted their lives to be and work for it. I couldn't put this book down and read it one sitting. All the love for D and E!
I just absolutely really liked it. I loved all the other books in the series but this one kind of fell a little short for me. I didn't have the wow factor like the other books. But now I want my own Devante. I got a little confused with who everyone was. But it was an amazing story and a really good read. I can't wait for the next book!
Devante and Edan have wanted each other for so long but it takes a little bit of fate intervening for them to finally take the plunge. These two have roadblocks thrown in their way that don't make anything easy. Their story is heartfelt, sweet and one that will steal your heart. This is a slow burn romance that is worth every moment.
I absolutely love the friendships in all of Laramie’s books. It’s a page turner from start to finish. The way friends always come together to help and lift up one another. They also tell ya to get head out of ya butt at times too. Devante and Eden have become one of my favorite couples because of their honesty and love. This was a well written masterpiece.
This was a great read in this series. DeVante and Eden both have moved to Laurel Springs to get away from their pasts. This is a special little town, one I'm sure we would all love to visit even move to. The love these friends show each other is exactly what DeVante and Eden need in their lives.
This is book six in the LSERT series and while it was not my favorite, it is still a good book. Characters are wonderful and well written. Lots of emotions and a little steamy make for a good read.
Devante and Edens story was a emotional ride that I didn’t want to stop. Devante was exactly what Eden needed given her past. These two will reel you in I’m every single was imaginable
I loved this book. It was great to get to know Devante and Eden more. And I loved both of them. Also it was good to see how some of other characters from this series were doing. Devante and Eden both moved to Laurel Springs from somewhere else and it was right place for them. Because from there they found each other and huge family who looked after everyone. When Eden needed help, everyone came to help her. It was so good to be back in this world.
An ARC was provided in exhange for an honest review.
I am SWOONING over Devante!!!! Laramie did a fantastic job on Devante and Eden's story. Just the right amount of details. I absolutely love the LSEMRT series. Can't wait to read Archer's story.
Well written intense story. I really enjoyed this. Devante and Eden were awesome together. This is a great story about hardworking everyday people and acceptance. Well worth the read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I always love when we get to go back to Laurel Springs and I didn't realize how much I missed this little town until I started reading this book. I have missed it. If you have not read a book in this series then I feel like you are missing out on some great books that will keep you on your toes and make you fall in love with Laurel Springs and all the wonderful characters there. Eden and Devante are no exception and I really loved them. Devante needed a change of pace and a smaller town to live in because he did not like living in Atlanta and discovered Laurel Springs and the people in the town have become his family. Eden has come from Chicago to Laurel Springs and she might just be running from some things but she has come her fell in love with the town and people and opened a coffee shop that she is so hopeful will turn a profit and she is almost to that point. Dante is a guy who has sworn off love and marriage but Eden might just be the girl who changes her mind. I loved watching these two fall for each other and Dante takes such good care of Eden that you just might wish you had a Dante in your life too. But she is keeping a major secret from him and that secret is not in Laurel Springs and they have come for something that they are not leaving without it. This makes her keep Dante at a distance and it really frustrated me at times. I wanted to shake this girl but I get why she did it. But now will she be able to save herself from the mess she is in or will she have to depend on Dante and other to help save her? You have to read and find out but I loved this book, the story really sucks you in and you won't be able to put it down and it was so great to be back in Laurel Springs with familiar characters that I have fallen in love with in the past.
Emotional and compelling. Devante needed a change, so he moved from Atlanta to Laurel Springs when he found a job with the LSERT. As one of very few non-white residents, he's surprised that he feels so at home, and even welcome there, compared to the big city. He's found friends who will go to bat for him, people who actually feel like family. Eden recently moved from Chicago, and opened a coffee shop that she just loves. Even if it has yet to turn a profit. She left the city when she found out that her boyfriend was not who she thought he was, having thoroughly fooled her into trusting him. Scared, she ran to Laurel Springs, and she feels like she's found a community that really embraces her. Devante and Eden have been talking, as friends, for months, and slowly becoming more than friends. One day Devante walks into the coffee shop, expecting to find Eden behind the counter. Instead, he finds her sitting in the kitchen, doubled over in pain. In an instant, his world shifts. He realizes he wouldn't know what to do if something happened to her. Devante takes care of Eden as she recovers from her health scare. Both of them learn to rely on their friends, because they're not used to having people who really care about them. But when Eden's past catches up with her, will Devante be able to help her? Or will he be too late? OMG I just could not stop reading! These books have been emotional, and Devante's story is no different. The prejudice he experienced in the past is in the back of his mind constantly. He keeps expecting someone to treat him differently because of his skin color, but he doesn't find that among his friends. There is an incident that happens outside of Laurel Springs, and it does a number on him. He has to work through his own demons before he can be the person he wants to be, for himself and for Eden. This one packed a punch. It touched on the aspects of prejudice, and though it wasn't pervasive, it was just off the page at all times. There were so many times Devante did something, and had in the back of his mind what the consequences could be, and would have been in Atlanta. His past colors his present, and makes his future unsure. As always, great characters that pull you into their world. Excellent storytelling, and interesting story, too. Can't wait to read the next one!

This is book six in The Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series and it is Devante and Eden's story and omg what a emotional story and a must read. Devante and Eden have both moved to Laurel Springs and over the time that they have been there the friendship between them has grown stronger so when Eden has a life threatening illness and is taken to hospital it is Devante who is a EMT that looks after her. Things don't always go smooth for them as they have baggage from there past that holds them back and when Eden's past returns putting her in danger Devante will do everything possible to make sure that she is safe and protected but will it be enough for them to get the happy ending that they both deserve only time will tell what the outcome will be. This book takes you in right from the start and kept you turning the pages right until the last one and I couldn't put it down and you are on the edge of your seat with this roller coaster ride of emotions. The connection and chemistry between Devante and Eden was so strong and only got stronger with time as well as there feelings for each other but they were both strong willed which caused a few conflicts between them but they manage to overcome them. The close connection between them all just shows that you don't have to be related by blood to be family and this book certainly proved that and shows you no matter what race or colour we are all the same regardless. The whole crew are really special how they all rally round to help regardless of the situation as they class them all as family which makes you feel as if you are part of them and there with them all going through all the ups and downs of life. There are so many difficult and emotional situations in this story that was so well written and with so much compassion and I felt them all. Laramie Briscoe is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and the depth of her stories have you going back to read more of her books as they are definitely a must read.
Devante moved to Laurel Springs from Atlanta because he needed to leave behind his past and work toward a better future. He was excited to find a job as an EMT and a crew he really likes to work with. Eden moved to Laurel Springs from Chicago. She was caught up in a bad situation and needed a place to move that she thought would be safe. She loves her coffee shop and the friends that she is making around town. Can two transplants to Laurel Springs find a lasting love?
Devante is a good character. The author made a point of showing he is levelheaded and thoughtful. He recognized that his situation in Atlanta wasn’t good for him so he made a change that he hoped would be for the better. I like that Devante became part of the group of friends and family. The fact that Devante is black in a mostly white community is part of the story but it is not the main part of his story. Eden started out as just another small business owner but then became the focus of the story. The author showed how strong in both mind and body Eden was so that when the bad guy attacked, her ability to handle the situation was believable. I was worried that the author was going to have Eden as one of the girlfriend group and she would already be part of the community but instead the author showed Eden being on the fringes and steadily becoming part of the big friend group. Honestly, everyone pitching in to help keep the coffee shop open when Eden couldn’t be there was a really nice addition to the story. The bad guy isn’t in a lot of the book but I understood why he was after Eden and his actions made sense.
This is a contemporary EMT small-town romance. You don’t HAVE to read the prior books but I think you should because all of the stories weave into one another. This book made me smile and wish this town was for real. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Devante and Eden’s story is about love, acceptance and found family. Eden and Devante have been friends for a while and have been slowly edging towards something more. When a serious health issue lands her in hospital, Devante feelings can no longer be denied. He refuses to leave her side, especially since he has never heard he mention a family. Having Devante by her side has opened her heart to love again after her past disastrous experience with her ex. Eden came to Laurel Springs from Chicago and is struggling to keep her coffee shop afloat. She is surprised by the willingness of her new friends to step in to run her business for her while she is ill and then recovering. Her strong independent streak takes a hit, put she is also humbled by their kindness. This community support is rather foreign to both Eden and Devante, but they are grateful for it. When Devante has his own troubles and Eden’s ex comes looking for her with vengeance in mind, there is no shortage of support offered to them. They both realize they have found not just good friends, but also a family.
I loved the connection between Devante and Eden. They encourage and support each other, and they feel safe with each other. Together, they are stronger, happier and complete. I admire both Eden and Devante for their courage. They got out of terrible situations, and with hard work and determination, they made the best of a new start in a new place. I love the supportive and inclusive community featured in this book and enjoyed the reappearance of familiar characters from previous books. I should also mention that this book does touch on hot button topics, including racism. It is portrayed realistically without being exploitive or too graphic.
I will certainly recommend this book and the others in this series.
Devante is a hard working EMT facing life’s toughest challenges everyday. Working in the high emotion, adrenaline filled field on top of making his way in a new town, with new faces and the same challenges people have been fighting for decades. He never pictured finding love along the way and definitely not in the back of an ambulance.
Eden is trying desperately to bounce back from a life that was going off track, quickly and dangerously. She started over in a new town and took a risk opening a new coffee shop. She quickly learned her past can follow her anywhere and life can flip anything upside down with little warning. Eden is a strong, independent woman who is learning to ask for help. Her own personal EMT is hanging around to make sure she follows orders.
Devante, like all other Laramie novels, starts out with a bang, our attention is grabbed and held on to until the very end. I love the fast paced plot, with lots of twists and turns to keep us intrigued and yet it’s all still relatable to everyday relationships. The sparring between couples, business problems, pasts that haunt people. I love that I can read these novels in a couple of hours, they still leave me craving more and more from each couple and each series. Laramie can effortlessly wind characters in and make readers feel as if they’ve always been there. I love the emotions she puts into the books and the emotions her characters pull out of the readers. I will always one click Larmies’ novels, I can not wait to see what happens with Alisa and Archer!!
Two of the newest characters in Laurel Spring find love with one another. Devante moved from Atlanta to join the LSERT Team as an EMT he needed the change of pace and was soon welcomed into the community, which surprised him Laurel Springs was not like Atlanta. Eden is also a new girl in town opening up a Coffee shop, with stolen money...she is running from a bad relationship and a bad man.So chose a quiet town to hide away in. Devante catches her eye and vice versa and they always seem to be flirting up a storm when they see eachother, but they can never get passed that point. Until one day Eden becomes sick and is rushed to hopsital where she needs major surgery and there through it all is Devante,he stays by her side. Upon her release from the hospital Eden needs someone to take care of her in her recovery and so Devante takes her to his house so he can take care of her. Its in these days and weeks that their attraction becomes stronger and they become closer falling hard. These two are passionate and romantic and I loved their story,it was an emotional book because they finally found a home in Laurel Springs and a home with one another. But there is a threat ready to break the love that they are building as Eden's past comes back with a Vengeance. You will fall in love with Devante and Eden they are adorable. This story is another amazing book within this series and I could not put it down,I will never get tired of reading about this town and these characters. Excellent book. 5 Stars.
There is something special about Laurel Springs and the men and the women who live there and serve the town as emergency responders.
EMT Devante comes to the rescue of coffee shop owner Eden when she collapses in the shop. Eden is not used to people helping and being there for as she has always gone it alone. So to find Devante sitting by her hospital bed is hard for her comprehend but even harder to understand is how the town comes together to keep her coffee shop going whilst she is recovering.
Devante is the kind of man that all men should aspire to be. From the moment he finds her, he doesn't leave her side, putting his own life on hold to be there for her. He was there to help and support her on her road to recovery. He proves he is there beyond this one incident. He is there for the long haul.
Eden is a very private person, keeping herself to herself along with the reasons for moving to Laurel Springs in the first place. Laurel Springs doesn't let her do this, pulling together for her and when she is back working they won't let her put up her wall again.
I do love this series so much. This is a special town, where the stories are character driven rather than being driven by their professions as you would expect. It is a place I am always happy to visit and discover more of its characters.
Devante has grown tired of his life in Atlanta and moves to Laurel Springs where he becomes Cutter's partner on the LSERT team. Eden left a life in Chicago that wasn't what she thought it was and the guy she was with wasn't who she thought he was she leaves when things take a dangerous turn and she winds up in Laurel Springs where she opens her coffee shop. She becomes part of the community whether she realizes it or not Devante is attracted to her and they've been flirting with each other for a while whenever Devante just happens to stop by her coffee shop. It's a good thing he was always finding reasons to stop by because he's there when Eden has a medical emergency. This is the real turning point in this story for both of them to finally realize that they have friends they can count on and that they're part of the community same as everyone else. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this book as Ms. Briscoe did a fantastic job of bringing us back to the LSERT world it was nice to be back in Laurel Springs catching up with old friends again. I can't wait to read what she writes next as I know it will be AMAZING! I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
Devante (Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Book 6) by Laramie Briscoe was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. I loved Eden and Devante’s story.
Eden has a cute little coffee shop that she is trying to get in the green. She has moved to town to get away from her past and move on. Devante is also newer to the area but he has been welcomed with open arms and has made some great friends.
When Eden is hurt, Devante’s instinct to protect and care for her kicks in. He is determined to be there for her recovery and hopefully something more. Of course things are not always great which adds a great element to the story. We also get a twist when someone from Eden’s past shows up.
Can these two have a HEA or will the past ruin it for them?
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I love seeing all of the characters from previous books, it’s just like one big happy family reunion. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing and you will be done before you know it. If you're looking for a great series 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.
