Do you - as a believer - have a "deceitful" and "wicked" heart? Should your heart be tested, not trusted? If that's what you believe, your spiritual experience will be one of duty and obligation, only a faint imitation of what Jesus promised. This provocative book invites you to a radically different approach, an inspiring move from head to heart that affects every aspect of your how you handle conflict, how you communicate and love others, how you view yourself and God. There's a place of purity within you where Jesus lives. God calls you to live from this perfect not merely from your head, but from your heart.Knowing the perfect you means no more waiting for closeness with God. Living as the perfect you brings a newfound freedom like you've never experienced before.
This is the Gospel that needs to be preached every Sunday. God wants you to live as the perfect you ,denounce dead religion and embrace the Gospel that saves!
Wonderful message overall, explained simply and clearly. It took me a long time to get through this book only because it gave me so much to think about, look up in Scripture, and study out.
At salvation we are made new in Christ, born again with a new, good, and beautiful heart. The Perfect You walks readers through this concept in an easy to read format. Many will appreciate the 10 pages of Bible references after the epilogue.
It could have ended at Chapter 25. In fact, I wonder if that wasn’t the original ending. Chapters 26 & 27 felt tacked on and did not fit the theme of the book. Choppy, unnecessary paragraphs of trite, debunked marriage and relationship advice based on the “he needs respect, she needs love” ick, along with some predictably cheap forgiveness platitudes thrown in left me annoyed.
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely, but I’d skip to the epilogue after Chapter 25.
Andrew & Tim do a fantastic job of explaining through scripture the truths of the New Covenant that are literally life changing & transforming if you have been disillusioned by the message of religion that does anything but set you free. This book really does celebrate the perfect work of God in the believer that gives you your true identity in Christ!
In this book, the authors invite Christians to grasp what God has already accomplished in them. "The goal is to come to a truth-inspired place of knowing..." Knowing what? The answer: the perfect person that He has made each to be in Christ.
A trusted guide for any Christian who is tired of always being told to perform to live right but fails miserably.
Life changing. Has completely changed the way that I view God, view myself, and view our relationship. Incredible. I would say that he is moreso promoting a perspective that trying to prove anything academically. Since he is a highly educated I believe that this was a very intentional decision.
A simple and lovingly written book to explain that God loves you and doesn’t see your flaws. You are forgiven already and your heart is righteous because of what Jesus has done for us.
