A very sweet romance. Allie did house and office cleaning and also was going to college. She had an evil step sister and she found out her stepmother was saying untrue things behind her back.

Rodrigo and Allie knew each other earlier and parted ways.

The flame was again lit and they were able to continue their romance. This story was similar to the fairy tale "Cinderella". I thought the author did a great job making the story similar to the fairy tale, but modernized.

I like a Cinderella retelling. I like that Rodrigo was successful, but didn't feel like it, and that Allie assisted him in seeing that he had made a success of himself rather than having things decided by his father. I liked the way Allie thinks, is kind, doesn't take other people's opinions, but makes up her own mind. I love that she loved her step mother enough to serve her and do things the way she likes. I love that Allie is so hard working - working as a cleaning lady, cleaning and cooking for her step mother, and going to school to get a degree in finance. I like that she finally revealed herself and her heart to Rodrigo.

A sweet love story about old friendship, new beginnings and always having faith in God and in ourselves and try to be a better person. Allie is dreaming of a better life than the one she’s is living now, cleaning, cooking and doing everything for her stepsister and her stepmother while trying to study and working cleaning offices. Can she fight for a better life and have back the love of her life? A second chance at love and happiness

Sweet Romance

Not Your Cinderella Type is a sweet romance that will have you looking at your heart to see if you are wearing a mask that is hiding the person that God made you to be. I enjoyed watching Allie and Rodrigo discover who they wanted to be, as well as finding each other, and realizing that they still love each other after all the years that they were separated. ;o) I don’t think that counts as a spoiler!

A modern-day retelling of Cinderella. Alexa Verde did an excellent job of creating the kind of character that will have all of us examining ourselves to see if we truly have the heart of a servant like Allie did. Do we trust ourselves and God enough to show our true selves to the world? Are we willing to endure the hardships without trying to retaliate? One thing is for sure. God will bless us if we do!

Cute but wish there was more

This storyline and character set up was so cute and fresh. I have read and watched so many versions of Cinderella, but I really liked this one. However, my reason for 3 stars vs 4 stars is it didn't feel complete. Yes the story ended well and beautiful, I felt it was missing so much to feel the true connection and tie up everything in the middle. I definitely still recommend it and enjoyed the book but I do feel it needed a bit more to it to be 4

a good side of what todays Cinderella would be.

This story was not at all what is expected. It is even better and was hard to put down reading to the end was sooo needed.
The way the step sister was was just so todays type of snobby people. That is what takes the book from a 5 to a 4 star.

Such a sweet retelling of Cinderella. The characters were so heartwarming and the story had enough little twists to make it enjoyable. It was such a pleasure to have the added Christian aspects that made the story so worthwhile. Alexa has outdone herself again!

A Fairytale Romance

This was a delightful story about second chances at love, new friendships, and renewed relationships with God. The author did a wonderful job in weaving the Cinderella theme throughout the novella. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars!

What a refreshing read! It’s a modern day version of Cinderella that will renew your faith in God’s ability to change our lives and circumstances in a positive fulfilling way if only we believes d trust Him.

Needed to delete the shoe part.

An obvious take following the old Cinderella fairy tale, but surely the author could have come up with another way to connect the H and h. That, for me, was overkill to this version of Cinderella.
Otherwise, okay.

Sweet story

This is a nice read, but seems to be something I've seen on tv. The plot is very predictable and a bit dragging. But still makes for a sweet read.

Fun twist on an old classic that uses the mistaken identity in a new way and shows a more long lasting reason for a princely guy to fall in love.

We all wear masks of one kind or another. We often hid behind personalities that might not be our true self, behind looks that might not really be what we’re comfortable in, and jobs that we feel pressured into. It’s all around us.

There’s a beautiful quote I just have to share.
“We all wear some kinds of masks because we’re afraid of get hurt. But to be happy, we have to let people know our true selves. Only when we’re most vulnerable, do we become who we are. We have to bare our faces, our hearts, and our souls.”

This cute story isn’t really a Cinderella story, WELL, maybe not your typical Cinderella story, but it’s just as sweet and endearing. It has some of the same themes, yet the main character has some fun spunk, she’s not really mice-y or meek. She actually is very smart but has had some hard luck.
I loved this book, not only because it was written by one of my favorite authors, Alexa Verde, but because it gave hope and a bit of “happy-ever-after.” I’m a romantic at heart and this book hit the mark for me. It was also just a delight to read during this crazy time in my life.
Throughout this book, the author wove sweet messages of finding acceptance for who we are, just the way we are.
Add this to your list of sweet books to read! I highly recommend it.

In this modern version Allie lives in the tiny guesthouse behind her former home and works many cleaning jobs to pay for her education. Rodrigo, whom she had loved as a teen was now a CEO. Both characters are very likable, and I definitely wanted their HEA to work out. (It does.) The only complaint I had about Allie was how very naïve she was concerning her stepmother. Allie seems like a very intelligent woman other than that. Not Your Cinderella Type is a good read, especially if you're feeling a bit nostalgic or just want to see the underdog come out on top.
I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this modern fairytale.

A fairytale retelling with a small town setting, twist and turn plot - part fairy tale / part mystery, two likable characters and a believable resolution. Will Allie Reyes receive her fairy tale ending and a second chance at love? Growing up on Grimm fairy tales, I enjoy reading fairy tale retellings. Alexa Verde is a superb retailer of fairy tales. So true that we all wear some kind of mask, because we are afraid of being hurt. When we are most vulnerable, we become who we are. Read the story in the boxed set Second Chance at Love: Three Second Chances Sweet Romances - Reunion, Single Dad, & Fairytale Retelling.

Loved Rodrigo and Allie's story. They first met much younger, and dated at 15. Then, they were split apart by an unfeeling adult. Both had to find their way back to God, and then they could find each other, when they realized they were both worth loving, and God had not abandoned them. Great read!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
