Caroline Jane (CJ) Ellison has a gift for analysis. When a Wall Street deal goes bad, the choice between prison or the Interstellar Brides Program is a no-brainer. She'll go. She'll leave Earth, her past, and her mistakes behind. The decision is logical, not emotional. Until she wakes up on another world with a huge Atlan Warlord, her matched mate, refusing to claim her.
Warlord Rezzer is contaminated. Weak. The Hive captured him and stole his soul, his very beast. A mate is out of the question when he can't become what he was born to be, a beast, her mate, her protector. Forced into the Brides Program testing against his will, Rezzer has no intention of claiming the beautiful, sassy female who arrives on the Colony. The Hive stole his beast, but not his honor. He vows to give her to another, a worthy male, a beast who is whole -- one not hunted by the Hive as part of a dangerous new experiment to win the war.
CJ takes one look at the wounded warrior before her and knows she will never be able to let him walk away. He's hers now, her perfect match. And if that means she has to seduce the beast or face off with the Hive to save him...that's exactly what she's going to do. She lived her life following the rules. With everything on the line, it's time to break them.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙❤️💚💜 Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎 Character development: 🙃😊😉😛🥰 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Caroline (a.k.a. C.J.) - she is a financial analyst on Wall Street after a deal she worked on is flagged by the SEC as insider trading, she has a choice between joining the Interstellar Brides Program and going to jail so immediately gets tested for the Program and a mate is found for her. She knew that she only had to do the testing to get out of jail. She plans on rejecting her match after the 30-day trial period and then she will be free to live her life. She wasn’t happy to find out if she rejected her initial match, she would only be matched to someone else on the planet.
The Hero:Warlord Rezzer (a.k.a. Rez) - he is a massive Atlan warrior and was captured by the Hive and is now considered contaminated since he is now a cyborg with Hive technology as part of his being. He lives on the colony with other ‘contaminated’ males who fought in the war and were also captured, tortured and experimented on by the Hive. Rezzer’s time with the Hive was exceptionally bad and his beast was stolen. He feels that he is unable to have a mate but is forced into the Interstellar Brides Program testing and thinks a mate for him is a bad idea.
The Story: This story got steamy from the start, and it was pretty hot when Caroline was in the testing facility. I think the fact that in the testing simulation, Rez’s beast couldn’t talk in complete sentences and was uber dominant made it even hotter. You had to feel for Rez because true Atlan warriors all have an inner beast and when he found out his was gone, he he lost a big part of his identity. His friends on the colony think that a mate might just be able to bring his beast back, so they force him to do the Interstellar Brides Testing. It was the beast that was responsible for mating, so he thought he wasn’t worthy of a female.
I have to admit, I really like this world of misfit cyborgs. They have been thrown away by their home planets since they are contaminated with the Hive Tech, but they have made a pretty good new home on the Colony. I especially liked Rez and the fact that he had this beast within him. When it came out, he grew like a foot, his muscles got bigger, it reminded me of the Hulk.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Heather Firth and Aaron Shedlock. Aaron is another of my favorite male narrators (I have a bunch of them), he has a nice sexy voice and speaks so naturally, you can hardly tell he is reading. Heather does a great job and has a soft, feminine voice which is extremely pleasant.
Life just isn't fair. Men in all shapes and sizes play the stock market game getting away with insider trading percs all the time but let one independent ball busting female play the same game and she's tried, convicted, striped of all worldly possessions, and sentenced to prison.
Caroline Jane Ellison (aka CJ) is a convicted felon looking at many years of prison time. A loophole offer to register for the Interstellar Brides Program gives CJ the chance to start over though she'd be agreeing to be the mate of an alien(s) species on whatever planet her match resides on. No one told her she'd have to like her match only agree to a 30 day trial. Small price to pay if it allows her a fresh start with cash in the bank.
Warlord Rezzer, Atlan beast species, contaminated by Hive technology, has lost his inner Beast leaving him unfit to defend his peers or claim a mate. The logical outcome is for him to be put down though his friends and fellow Coalition comrades on the Colony are doing everything possible to prevent Rezzer's death. As a last resort Rezzer is forced to test for the Interstellar Brides Program as it's known Atlan beast mode will kick in when it meets it's mate.
CJ and Rezzer are matched though neither are hopeful that it will end with a HEA ending until they actually meet. CJ ain't no beauty and Rezzer ain't no Beast but if the shoe fits.....
Life on the Colony is difficultfor the wounded warriors of the Universe. Abandoned, cut off from their home worlds, and left to create a new world is hard enough but with the promise of mates through the Interstellar Brides Program the promise of a future with a loving mate is now possible. Unfortunately, the reason they've been exiled to the Colony is still a pending threat as the Hive have't given up their fight to reacquire their test subjects.

4th in Interstellar Brides: The Colony Series which COULD be read as a stand alone though pockets of ongoing series back info might be a factor. Personally I'd suggest the author start including a basic non-spoiler type series review prologue for all new books in this series so new readers to the series can get up to speed as otherwise I'd suggest reading prior EARLY installments to get the basic feel of the world building and series premise.
First off I want to clarify something. Some readers might use a paranormal-shifter tag. That's fine and to each their own but I liken Rezzer to The Incredible Hulk as he morphs into a Beast when called upon during warfare/fighting. In my thought process I feel that when authors depict alien species of any sort, what's natural to that species is not necessarily paranormal just because they have different anatomy or physical attributes. So. SciFi alien it is.
I had been looking forward to this installment as Rezz had cameo appearances in previous installments and who can't help wanting the strong silent self perceived beast type character to find true love. Appreciated the way the author led into this story as Rezz had all but given up and if left alone would have terminated his life. We must believe that it is the darkest before the dawn of a beautiful new world. ~Saul Alinsky Enter CJ. Re-read this paragraph inserting her name in place of Rezz because she also has lost hope. That's basically the back stories leading up to this present story.
The story starts with the author's trademark opening erotic dream scene to get the reader potential female bride candidate horny with a sample of what her future mate could provide. Who wouldn't want their every deep dark guilty pleasure fantasy to become reality after getting a glimpse of the possibilities. I haven't seen one of the bride candidate refuse yet after one of those scenes. lol.
Inserting here once again. I do think the author attempted to qualify Warden Egara's current tenure as program head. Nope. Didn't work (if that was the intent). Egara deserves her own second bite of the apple. Make is so Grace.
This is a straightforward story line SciFi romance that builds off an insta-love premise with a secondary mystery-suspense-thriller format. Enjoyed and appreciated the overall experience but each individual scene came across as superficial and incomplete. Non spoiler examples: Atlan cuffs - I had questions on this as circumstances changed and/or were incomplete; Nexus - thankfully remember them from previous books but still; testing wand - incomplete. IMHO I do feel this story would have benefited from less erotic romance scenes to include more depth in actual story line.
The cast of secondary characters has introduced a few new characters who will probably be featured in future installments. Denzel - promising. I'm not sure if I caught a glimpse of a possible MALE bride book as I caught a part of the story that mentioned female warriors who had HIVE technology and therefore stuck on the colony. Got my hopes up for that possibility. Generally though the secondary characters were a mix of characters from previous books in the series and why I'm hesitant to fully recommend this as a stand alone.
My take away from this story is that while I enjoyed and appreciated the entirely of Rezz and CJ with it's emotional epilogue ending, I can't say it was any better or worse than previous stories in the series. Definitely a book for fans of the Interstellar Brides Program premise to check out. The bummer is that the series seems to have stalled in terms of progression of the series plot so don't expect to see any dramatic turn of events for our Coalition Wounded Warriors. Crossing my fingers they won't have to wait too much longer to earn the peace and comfort they deserve for having served.
This one is about CJ and Rezzer. Both are very reluctant to have a mate but go through the interstellar bride program out of necessity. CJ needs to get out of jail, and Rezzer needs to get this beast form back. So they are in shock when they both start to fall for their matched mate.
This was super fun! There was way more action going on in this one, which I enjoyed! It was dramatic at times, yet emotional at others. A great contribution to the series!!
Caroline is planning for a life of indifference when she signs up for the Interstellar Brides Program, and Rezzer has no plans to claim his match because his inner beast is broken… but they’re both like “mine!” within an hour of meeting. I love when the main characters are trash for each other despite their best efforts. Very hot and also sweet. There’s a bit of plot going on (mainly towards the end), but really this is just high steam escapism at its finest. 🔥
Honestly this is a good mindless escape. It’s fun and very spicy 🌶 I skimmed some of the ending spice, but I got what I wanted and that was a chill, escapism read.
I’ll say this, you should read this if you want: - heavy spice (but pretty freaking good spice) - hea - an escapism read - a simple standalone story (you don’t have to read the others in order to understand what’s going on) - alien alpha that is actually a teddy bear for the FMC
This is the fourth book in the Interstellar Brides series but it can be read as a stand alone novel. I have to say though that once you've read one of these books you'll likely want to read more. And so far this is my favorite one yet! When CJ signs up for the bride program, she does so only to get out of prison not because she is looking for a mate or even love. Rezzer is also determined to not accept his mate at all because he feels he has nothing to offer. But the best laid plans quickly go awry when the two meet for the first time. This sci-fi romance has some great world-building, steamy romance and a bit of action/suspense. What more could you ask for other than an enjoyable story as well. I can't wait for the next one.
This is a somewhat of an instant-love story like all the other Interstellar Bride books by Grace Goodwin. I mean when you go into a machine and that machine finds your perfect match no matter where they are in the entire galaxy is that not insta-love? But for this story Rezzer wants to give up his bride when he can't feel his beast anymore, so he feels less than a man. But CJ refuses to be left by her chosen mate and sometimes us females know what is best. I really enjoyed this story. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
My synopsis of Her Cyborg Beast: Hump “dream” Huge alien with issue “Mate”, insta – love Dripping pussy before “Hello” Hump Fixed his issue Hump Hump Mate in peril Save mate Hump Hump HEA in a Galaxy far, far away
Guilty pleasure read: Grace Goodwin’s Interstellar Brides series—any of them, they’re all amazing! And I had the pleasure of reading Her Cyborg Beast recently and it’s an excellent addition to the Interstellar Brides: The Colony series.
I’ve been waiting for Rezzer’s story for a few books now, and I wasn’t disappointed in the “match” with Caroline Jane (CJ) Ellison. She’s perfect for him, well, of course because that whole Interstellar Bride matching program . . .
Anyway, CJ is a bit taken aback when she first meets Rezzer—he’s refusing to claim her, he’s “broken” in his mind because his “beast” has gone dormant. What kind of Warlord is he without his beast? What kind of man is he too?
Well, Rezzer’s a man—all man—in CJ’s eyes, and she doesn’t want anyone else, she wants Rezzer and she’s woman enough to show him.
I loved the building relationship between CJ and Rezzer. Both were bound and determined to win their way, but once they realized how much better they were together, especially when dealing with the deadly Hive, their story and love really took off. I loved how CJ didn’t cower to Rezzer’s demands. Love how Rezzer only wanted to protect and love his mate—even when she was obstinate as hell. I loved watching them fall in love, and fight for that love too. Sigh. I can’t wait for more. ~ Missy, 5 stars
He escuchado el audiolibro. Las narraciones han estado bien. Con el formato no tengo quejas. Por suerte, o quizás por eso me empeño en seguir con esta saga, estaba incluido en mi suscripción de Audible Plus.
After I read Cyborg Seduction (The Colony #3), I shelved it under 'hard copy for the apocalypse' which is my highest appreciation for a novel. Unfortunately, a year ago I was not making comments on books and have no recall with the story. Hence, I felt a little lost reading Her Cyborg Beast. The Hive (they seem similar to Star Trek's Borg) did temporally turn off his inner beast Rezzer with a bio-implant (?) but other than that I did not see him as a cyborg. I believe to fully appreciate this series I need to backtrack to the beginning and read the series in order which will have to wait until I am in the mood for MFM novels (Surrender to the Cyborgs #1 and Mated to the Cyborgs #2). Hope this is a helpful comment for those readers perusing for their next read.
This sci-fi erotica is fun and interesting. The entire series is about the interstellar bride program finding perfect mates for contaminated intergalactic warriors. It’s a bit funny how technology advanced they’re and still behave like a cave man with their mates. There is a ton of spice and they all appear to have sizeable 🍆, but this time the human bride is all tall and voluptuous (she’s over 6 feet/1,8m). The hive threat is a constant and almost leads to tragedy. But we get a hea and baby too. Amazingly good narration. Love love love Aaron Shedlock’s voice and I like they don’t have the same narrator for every book as the stories are quite similar, so the change in narration makes it better. Heather Firth was amazing as well. Free on plus catalogue audible.
In “Her Cyborg Beast” enthusiasts are treated to Rezzer’s story and the outcome of his capture by the evil alien Hive. With no intentions of becoming a veritable “Beast of Burden”, Atlan Warlord Rezzer has every intention of rejecting his Interstellar Bride and matched mate, Caroline. His mate as well as near perfect match has every intention of unlocking the beast within and so begins the horizontal tango… the vertical tango and every other variation imaginable! Professionally written and extremely fast paced “Her Cyborg Beast” offers so much more than simply intercoarse… Ahem, I mean… interwoven story lines, the novel also features creative world-building, suspense and another glimpse into the Coalition’s struggle against the Hive. As with each book in Grace Goodwin sci-fi universe “Her Cyborg Beast” is also a standalone novel and previous volumes are not required for total reading enjoyment. “Her Cyborg Mate” is highly recommended for beast lovers everywhere as well as inquiring minds looking for some seriously hot alien action.

3.5 Smutty Sci-Fi **This is smut, mindless entertainment. There's nothing really heavy going on. You really have to like G.G. to enjoy. If you hate one, you'll probably hate them all.**
Book 4 of the Interstellar Brides Colony spinoff. These brides are sent to the colony where the warriors are considered “contaminated” because they have “hive parts” from being tortured/experimented while captured. KC has been arrested for insider trading, and chooses the Interstellar Bride program over going to prison. Warlord Rezzer has been captured and experimented 2X by the Hive and he feels unworthy of a mate. His friends register him behind his back hoping a mate will “fix” him. I’m a sucker for a tortured hero, so I jumped in with both feet. I loved CJ; she was tough, and super smart. I’m a fan when the female saves the day, and she totally came through for her mate.
Bottom Line- These are quick, fluffy, sci-fi smut. There’s insta love-lust; the males are totally besotted, and the females are typically feisty. This one has a cute little epilogue.
If you are reading this series, along with all the spinoffs, in chronological order, I recommend reading this in between books 12 & 13 of the interstellar bride series.
On a side note, Grace Goodwin wrote another alien romance trilogy called Starfighter Training Academy. In book 3 of that series, Elite Starfighter, she references THIS book and the sexy cake scene within. So there’s a little additional tidbit that makes this book in particular stand out from the rest. If you haven’t read that series, it is a definite “must read” IMHO. Loved it!
The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real and there are several different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. There is a neurological test that a bride takes to me matched to their perfect alien planet, then their perfect alien match on that planet, through a series of sexual desires that only our subconscious can answer for. Earth allows for volunteers to apply to the program, or grants female criminals the option to become a bride over a prison sentence. Those who volunteer are paid a healthy sum of money, and those who are prisoners are given clean slates. All applicants are required to give up their Earth citizenship to become a resident of their new chosen planet. A bride has 30 days to accept or reject their match. If they accept their claim, they are mated to their new alien husband for the rest of their lives where they are expected to make babies. If they reject their mate, they are assigned a new one on that same planet. Where they are still expected to make babies. Warden Egara makes continued appearances throughout the series as she is the one who processes the brides in the United States. The Colony Series takes place alongside the interstellar bride series, but focuses solely on the residents of the Colony. The colony houses veterans of war, tainted with Hive technology. They cannot return to their home worlds because of their cyborg hive tech, so they live the remainder of their lives on the colony. Brides can be matched to a soldier living on the colony as they can also test for the matchmaking system like everyone else. As the books progress, more brides specifically request the Colony instead of another coalition planet.
Written in first person, Her Cyborg Beast is book 4 in this series and follows the human bride Caroline Jane (aka C.J.) Ellison and her alien cyborg Warlord Rezzer from the planet Atlan (but stationed on base 3 of the Colony). C.J. Was a prisoner, doing time for the white collar crime of insider trading on Wall Street. Instead of serving a long-ass prison sentence, she opted for the bride program. We first met Rez in book 2 of the colony, when he was first proposed by Tyrant and Hunt along with Hunter Kiel and a few others. Rezz had joined in the hunting efforts of Krael that everyone had been looking for since his betrayal in book 1. Unfortunately, Rezz was captured by the hive again on the colony and they had managed to suppress his beast. Convinced he was forever damaged, Rezz greed to a last ditch attempt of unlocking his beast by being matched to an interstellar bride. CJ successfully unlocked Rezz’s beast shortly after arriving on the colony. As the book progresses, we discover that Rez was a breeding experiment by the hive. A failed one, since Atlans are not able to conform because of their beast. The hive captures CJ and Rez, in attempt to turn them both into breeders, though CJ was already pregnant after the first week of being with Rez. They tried to abort the baby, which failed to integrate hive technology, but Rez’s beast saved his mate. They wound up delivering twins, which was precious, and presumably living happily ever after.
Atlans are humanoid. What sets them apart from everyone else is their massive size (they’re the largest of the alien species), and they have a split personality of sorts that they refer to as their “beast.” Their beast lives inside them, very much with its own personality, and only comes out during danger or mating fever. When the beast comes out to play, they grow bigger - with elongated fangs, sharp facial features and bulging muscles - and their main personality takes a backseat behind the scenes. Did I mention that the Atlans are my favorite of the alien species?
There have been way too many romance novels I’ve read that had me frustrated and yelling “Jesus Christ, when are they gonna fuck?! Get to the good shit already!” When we’re 50% in, and the main characters have barely kissed each other, leaves readers like me aggravated. This is NOT one of those books. The very first chapter gives a very clear indication of what we are in for. I’m fairly confident that there is more sexual content in this book than adventure. It is, quite literally, word porn.
Spankings take place in every single book (with the exception of book 1 in this series). If any man spanked me, I would probably kill them in their sleep, but I guess some women do enjoy them. Spankings are more of a turn-off than turn-on in my case, so I just ignore those parts of the books like “nope, that didn’t just happen.” I think the hardcore S&M lifestyle is growing on me because this book didn’t bother me as much as the first books in the Bride Series did. Either the author has eased up in her writing, or I’ve become numb to the controlling bondage experience. Either way, I’m all in.
As I’ve read through this series and all its spin offs, I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance.

Neither Caroline nor Rezzer wanted mates but they find themselves matched and have to deal with issues as well as hive! A great read in the series which I really enjoyed
EARTH GIRLS GOT IT SO GOOD!!! Her Cyborg Beast is the fourth book in the Colony Planet series and eighteenth in the “Interstellar Brides Program” series. The Colony is a planet deep in Coalition space, populated by soldiers/warriors that have been altered genially and physically with cyborg type implants by the Hive. These soldiers/warriors are from Coalition planets that have served in the war against the Hive. The Hive is a race of beings that want to integrate races in order to control them. These soldiers/warriors are considered “contaminated”, and are sent to the Colony to protect them from the Hive and to protect their home planets, which the soldiers/warriors can’t return to in case the Hive reactivate the implants and use the soldiers/warriors to attack their own planets.
EARTH WOMEN ROCK!!! Caroline Jane (CJ) Ellison is from earth, and is a Wall Street brat, a pain in the ass, brash and pushy, tall, voluptuous, with a bit of an attitude. She has a good heart, but working with the “good ole boys” on wall street has made her kind of jaded. When CJ is the only Trader caught in an insider trading scheme, she has a choice, go to jail or the Interstellar Brides Program. The choice for her was easy.
Warlord Rezzer is from the planet, Atlan. Atlan is populated by males that have an inner beast. This inner beast is able to transform the males into fighting, protecting, and possessive beasts. Only the “matched mate” to an Atlan male will be able to tame his beast and save him from execution if he can’t contain his beast or is in mating fever. Warlord Rezzer was introduced in, “Cyborg Seduction”, book three of the Colony series, where he seemed to me as overbearing, egotistic, and a bully. I soon realized there was more to Warlord Rezzer. He is thoughtful, romantic, dominate, possessive and sexy. All he wants is a mate and to settle into a life with children and his mate.
There’s a traitor on the colony. Warlord Rezzer and a pregnant CJ were kidnapped by the Hive to be forced to participate in the Hive’s “breeding Program”. The Hive want to bred their own offspring instead of integrating other species unwillingly. This sheds new light on why the Hive want to integrate other species. They both are rescued, and the Hive facility and it’s program are shut down on the colony, but is it? Nine months later CJ gives birth to Atlan/Human twin boy and girl, the first ever.
“Her Cyborg Beast” can be read as a standalone book, but, like in past reviews, I’ve suggested reading the series. Past characters returning, the premise of the series and the understanding of the Coalition and its place in the fight with the Hive.
I gave the review of this book five stars because not only is this book part of a series, the series is like an opera. The characters, the premise, the suspense, and the imagination of outer space and the races.
While this book is part of a series, it reads well as a stand-alone. The Interstellar Brides program was designed to match up mates from Earth to Alien planets. The bride, Caroline “CJ” Ellison has two options, prison on earth, or mated to an Alien for her crime of insider trading. She will undergo a computer generated program that is designed to match her with the perfect mate.
Warlord Rezzer is the Atlan version of the Incredible Hulk, with a beast who lives inside of him. But the problem is, his beast is silent since his last capture with The Hive. He can’t fight and doesn’t feel he can protect a mate and could be considered expendable. With the encouragement, which is a nice way of saying, you will do it, he will undergo testing and a mate is found on Earth. Now he must do the honorable thing, reject her so she can find a suitable mate.
The plot will have CJ transported where she will meet Rezzer, but he does everything to reject her, telling her how the Hive has contaminated him, making him Weak and destroying his beast. He will allow her to be available to another mate. CJ has fought for everything she has had in life, in spite of the good ole boy club, and this only angers her that he is rejected her. Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned and she will bring out the beast in Rezzer, and that is exactly what happens. If they were picked to be perfect mates, she would demand nothing less than him as her mate.
“I would claim her. Keep her. Never let her go. I would have her heart for my own. Heart. Body. Soul. She was mine. All of her.” “A mate was any female in the universe. You are one of a kind. Mine.”
The journey that both Rezzer and Caroline travel will come with angst and passion. She has never been submissive but will be with him. Being a 6’1” female from earth, his over 7-foot stature will make her feel small, but always protected and cherished. Caroline can bring out the beast in the Warlord, and she craves both of them.
“This wasn’t just sex. This was—a reckoning. A claiming. Something so unique and intimate.” “You are mine. I’m claiming you, and I’m not giving you up.”
The story will take on life and death, and when Caroline is abducted the Hive doesn’t just want her, they want Rezzer, and any offspring produced. Will he be able to protect her or will the Hive control them? They destroyed his beast the last time he was captured, will Caroline be enough to keep his beast alive?
“You are my heart, mate. It does not beat without you.”
The story includes explicit sex scenes, D/s, kidnap and rescue, along with a great cast of characters in another Grace Goodwin Sci-fi romantic thriller. I look forward to seeing what she will write for us next.

I absolutely adore Grace Goodwin's Interstellar Brides series and all of the offshoots (the Colony, Rogue 5, the Virgins) and the best (in my opinion) are the Atlans. I love those big bad-ass beasts that can make even seasoned Coalition warriors nervous but can become giant teddy bears for the right woman.
Rezz has been seen in the previous Colony books and each time he appeared, we were given new reasons to love this damaged warrior. Grace did an incredible job in bringing his story to life. His explanation for why they fight so hard for the Coalition was so heartbreakingly beautiful that Lindsey should include it in one (or all) of her Colony PR announcements, thus ensuring plenty of volunteer brides for the Colony. I believe Rezz has usurped Deek's place, as my favorite Atlan.
Caroline may not be a scientist like Rachel or a law enforcement officer like Kristin but she is one strongly opinionated and goal orientated woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to fight for it and she wants Rezz (beast or no beast).
This story gives Rezz his mate but also expands upon the war with the Hive with a new and devious twist and updates us on some of the other Brides and Vets on Base 3. I could not put this story down (even though I love all of the Interstellar Brides stories, I can put down some of them). At first, I thought I would not like Caroline due to her greed but relocating to a new and different socioeconomic environment, she readily abandoned her previous ways. I won't say too much about Rezz (he is beyond expectations) but his willingness to give up his dream to protect her just shows that he is one awesome Atlan.
If you are looking for absorbing stories with a little romance, a little intrigue, a little action, some heavy sex, and a boatload (OK - it's really planets full) of smoking hot alien warriors looking for THE ONE, grab this series and be prepared to ignore everything else (and in my case - get grumpy at each interruption) and enjoy!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and the author and am voluntarily leaving a review (I also purchased it because I really need Grace to write more Atlan stories and I need to see the Hive threat eliminated).
I enjoyed this, and I think the author did a great job creating this new world. This is my first book by this author and this series. Because of that I was confused, especially in the beginning. It starts off with her having sex with a beast, but she says it isn't her body. I was like, "What?". But she was being tested for the program, to find her perfect match. I do wish we could have had a tiny bit of background, but I eventually figured it out. I guess other books also didn't focus on this race of aliens, since others have two mates and this one has a "beast". We get a lot of sexy times with this, but I do wish we could have seen a bit more of the getting to know you stuff. It jumps a few weeks ahead and he still had no idea what her life on Earth had been like.
Some Spoilers:
He was captured a second time by the Hive. Again, I didn't understand the whole war but I made do with what was said. This time they trapped his beast, possibility killing it forever. His friends force him to do testing for a mate, hoping it will save him. He decides that she will come and he will give her to a mate worthy of her. CJ understood a bit of what was happening and purposely did what she could to get his beast to break free. It worked and they had sex. Whatever she did has reversed the effects the Hive did to him. Later on he knows she is pregnant and takes her to get this confirmed. Afterwards he is alerted that the enemy is in the cave system. He goes to battle and is told while down there his mate has been kidnapped. He is hit with a transporter dart and realizes the Hive has taken his mate, and he must be taken as well. The hive remind me of a race on Star Trek where they have a hive mentality, and find other races to add to it. But this hive wants a pure race. They messed with his DNA to subdue his beast and allow his physiology be altered. This is all so he would produce the first hive baby. They kidnap them both as soon as they learn she is with child, and plan to do testing and keep them as breeders. What they don't know is that she altered him and broke his beast free, so the baby isn't hive. They try to kill the baby and he starts killing them. They escape and end up having Twins, a boy and a girl. A sweet HEA, both of their dreams came true.
Grace Goodwin - Her Cyborg Beast (Interstellar Brides: The Colony Book 4)
The Interstellar Brides Series that is part of The Colony books are very special and somewhat emotional as that the warriors on this planet all have past traumas and issues they must overcome. The difficulty of finding women to come to the place where the warriors have been “contaminated” makes the situation even more distressing. Each mating is celebrated and treasured because these males have known great loss and have been permanently separated from their families and homeworlds.
This story finds a too smart woman, Caroline (CJ) given the choice of prison or the Interstellar Bride Program after being convicted for a insider Trading on Wall Street. She chooses the Bride program figuring she’ll give it a try and not really fall for any aliens. CJ describes herself as Amazon (Tall and Curvy), sassy ,not easily intimidated and not afraid to speak her mind. She is matched to Rezzer, an Atlanta on the Colony. Rezzer has been captured twice by the Hive who has altered him not just physically but have also seemed to managed to suppress his beast. Without feeling like a whole man and unable to fully claim this earth woman he feels he must give her up to a more worthy male. Cue the challenge Caroline eagerly accepts once she meets Rezzer. She refused to be denied the one male who the program has deemed her perfect match and is determined to find a way to bring his beast out of hiding.
The story brings many challenges, Rezzer must find his beast and accept the mating, the Hive continues to endanger all and there is much suspense ahead for the mated pair. There are endearing emotional moments as well as humor, romance, and some heart stopping action. Then there are the many hot sexy sizzling scenes Grace Goodwin writes so amazingly and sets within the storyline so well. This is another 5 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥for hotness (the dinner scene is pretty epic). A 5***** full length book that is a great addition to the The Colony and IBP Series.looks like the next Colony book might involve a certain high level Warlord and hopefully we won’t have to wait long.
Caroline “CJ” Ellison was lost in a dream – she was experiencing everything as if she were the woman in the dream, and yet she wasn’t. She felt like an observer, but she also felt like she was participating through this woman somehow. Her partner kept calling her “mate”. What was that all about?
On The Colony, the doctor, Rachel, and her two mates were trying to give some hope to the Atlan warrier, Rezzer. The Hive had somehow removed the presence of his Beast and left him empty and feeling worthless. The tests had not pointed to a cure, so they were going to have him matched in the Interstellar Bride Program in the hope that a mate would help the Beast fight against what had been done to Rezz and restore him. He had already given up hope, but the woman would be matched to another Colony male once he rejected her.
CJ woke from the transport. Rezz helped her up and said he would take her to the doctor who would explain why he could not be her mate. But she saw in his eyes the pain and brokenness and she wanted to help fix whatever would keep them apart. So she taunted his beast, teased him, made him angry with her words. When he suddenly shoved her against the wall and growled with a low, intimidating sound, she knew she had succeeded – and worried at how huge his body had now grown! It seemed that the Beast was indeed back! Would he remain an active part of Rezz, or would he disappear back where the Hive had forced him? Would the Hive operative still hidden on The Colony be able to get to him again?
I so love this series by this talented author! She makes us fall in love with the aliens fighting this terrible war with the Hive. Rezz is especially wonderful, truly caring and willing to give up his beautiful mate if he is broken. CJ is such a strong character, putting her fears aside to heal her shattered mate. I cannot wait for the next awesome book in this series! This story line will take your breath away! I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily and eagerly leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.Grace Goodwin you are amazing, I cannot believe how fast your books draw me in and keep me spellbound from start to finish, Warlord Rezzer was once a proud Altan Warrior but after the hive captured him a second time they have taken away his beast or did something to him so he no longer feels he has a soul and is no good to anyone but his friends have a plan to try and bring back his beast by forcing him into the interstellar bride program there theroy is that his true mate could bring back his beast but Rezzer doesn’t believe it will work and vows to find her a whole man one that can give her everything. Matched to an earth woman that is on her way to him at the colony does nothing to him at all no feelings either way, but when the female named Caroline (CJ) arrives something stirs inside of him and when she awakens she see her mate for the first time and know she can never walk away from him but he doesn’t want her and she is hurt and doesn’t understand and so she gets angry and want answers, use to having to fight for what she wants on her world why would she stop now, CJ wants her mated and after what she just learned she has a plan to drive him crazy and make him want her so she strips naked and is about to walk out of the room to find a new mate when a Rezzer grabs her and his beast comes out and takes her there up against the wall it’s hot and heavy and C.J loves it and Rezzer is surprised that his beast is back, it worked. What will happen now with danger lurking in the background, will they be together and will they survive what happens, read this amazing book to find out you will love it and wonder as I do where can I sign up. Thanks Karen N
The Colony is filled with Alliance fighters who have been taken by the Hive and had some Hive "improvements" put on them. Because the Hive can still control those beings, they are all sent to The Colony to live. That keeps them safe and keeps the Hive from getting to them as well as keeping the planets of the Alliance safe.
Rezzer is one of the people who was captured by the Hive and rescued. He's an Atlan, which means he also has a beast inside him. There is a Hive operative on The Colony and he managed to capture Rezzer while they were hunting the operative down. The Hive managed to do something to Rezzer that suppressed his inner beast and nothing manages to bring it back.
CJ is a financial consultant. Her company was caught doing some bad things, but she's the only one who paid for it. Her choice was to go into the Interstellar Bride Program instead of going to jail. After the testing, she's sent to The Colony and matched to Rezzer.
Atlans are my favorite of all the aliens in the IBP world. Of the Atlans we've met, I really like Rezzer. We don't always see other aliens involved in the worlds, but on The Colony, there is a small society, so we get to see them all. Rezzer is completely awesome. I'm really glad that he got to have a match and to find someone as awesome and strongwilled as he is. CJ is a very strong woman and she knows what she wants to have. She wants Rezzer and she was more than willing to fight for him so that he would know that he was hers.
All in all, this was a great addition to the IBP series and I was so glad to read it and look forward to all the new books in this series. I fall in love with each and every character and want to have them all as my book boyfriends. Sadly, I'm somewhat afraid of their mates.
The important issues here, as I see them, are that two people feel totally inadequate.
CJ because she is 6'1" and towers over nearly every male. She also chose to make her mark in a male-dominated profession, Wall-Street. She watches as the men cheat and get insider tips, get wealthy and get away with the crime. She is agressive and bossy, and has few lasting relationships, if any. She, unlike her male peers gets caught for the insider trading and is sent to prison. Her only out is the Interstellar Brides Program. She willingly tests for the opportunity to avoid lengthy prison time.
Rezzer is a Atlan Beast Warrior who has fought the Hive three times. He was captured three times and each time they implanted more of their cybernetic technology into him, making him a pariah on his own planet. This last time was the worst, as they took away that which makes a Atlan Beast Warrior a warrior: his beast. He can no longer feel his beast and without it, he can no longer fight the Hive, nor take a mate. His friends force him to submit to the Interstellar Brides testing program and a bride is found for him. But since he cannot protect her as an Atlan Warrior should, he wants no part of her and plans to reject her so that she can find a fully functional mate.
This is definitely sexy escapism and not for the under 18 year olds. They both go through some angst-ridden times and some scary ones, too. I see the beginnings of a turn in the story-line for the Coalition against the Hive. I wonder if it will play out as I think. I am definitely going to have to continue the series and sees what happens with this latest development. Hope you'll want to watch the story plot unfold over several more episodes, too.
This story definitely checked all the boxes when I was wishing to read captivating sci-fi romance!
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Her Cyborg Beast (Interstellar Brides®: The Colony Book #4) written by Grace Goodwin and voluntarily reviewed this book. Warlord Rezzer on the Colony was an Atlan male whose inner “beast” and warrior essence was compromised when he was captured and modified by the Hive with Cyborg implants.
Caroline Jane “CJ” Ellison had a choice when she was caught for insider trading on Wall Street: either go to prison or apply for the Interstellar Brides Program and never return to Earth. She chose the lesser evil, deep down secretly hoping she would find someone who wanted her for herself. Luckily, she came to love Rezz, thanks to a perfect match by the Program, who cherished her exactly as she was and gave everything back to her, more than she ever dreamed for back on Earth..
I was pleasantly surprised to encounter a gem of a subplot as I read past the whole introduction and acceptance of CJ as Rezzer’s mate. I found this subplot to be an intriguing concept, and I appreciated learning the science of it as well as the other alien technologies mentioned. Great secondary characters (must read the earlier books in this series). Rezz was controlling, possessive, dominating, even sensually creative (e.g. such as during their first “dinner” together), and he had two different sides of himself he was comfortable expressing around CJ: Alpha Atlan Warrior and Ultimate Beast - go, Beast! This story definitely checked all the boxes when I was wishing to read captivating sci-fi romance! Loved it!
I haven't reached for a sci-fi/fantasy romance in quite a while it seems. But this book was a great one to pick up for that genre again. This is also my first book by Grace Goodwin and the first one of this series for me to read. I'm on a lot of firsts here. I really like the worlds that are created in sci-fi romances. The details are so rich and vivid. The Aliens are always so descriptive, different and intriguing. We get more than just a brown hair, blue eyes. There's so much more detail in describing these warrior aliens to help the reader imagine the new world being created for them. This was interesting bringing in the hive and making them feel like an insect hive and of course they're as bad as a hive would normally sound. Rezzer, an Atlan, was a wounded warrior who lost his soul "the beast" to the hive - or they hid it from him. He was lost without his beast and didn't know how to accept Caroline without this interconnected part of himself. Caroline took a chance on the Interstellar Bride Program instead of prison after the bad stock deal forced her hand, but she accepted her fate and made it her mission to help Rezzer find his beast again and accept her as his mate since they were matched. This story must have brought in the couples from the previous books and their relationships were all varied and interesting as well. Her Cyborg Beast turned into a very romantic read, with some off the charts sexy encounters with her new alien husband Rezzer, even with all of the aliens running amok. I would definitely pick up her other stories in this series. Great new world created in The Colony.
I listened to this as an audiobook, so my rating is partly based on that.
Starting off with the audio part:
The last few chapters of the book have cut off words and mispronounced common words that really irked me.
The two narrators, though, were enjoyable and breathed new life to CJ and Rezzer.
Now for the rest of the story:
I've listened to the first four of the audio books, and let me warn you, THESE BOOKS ARE SUPER SPICY. It's almost too spicy.
3 of the 4 books I've read so far are heavy on plot and low on the plot, until the last few chapters, and it's a bit annoying. The plot of these stories is pretty amazing, so why hide it with all the sex?
When I read the blurb for this story, I was excited, finally a plot that wasn't just sex. They would have time to grow as a couple, to have time to get to know the characters.
Nope. Within 4 or 5 chapters, boom, problem is solved, and they have nothing but sex, with tiny subplots along the way.
It's totally obnoxious that the plot is usually towards the end of the book, and I have to hope the two (or three with some of the books) can separate long enough to move the plot along.
3 and a half out of 5 stars for me, for continuing a decent plot.
