I enjoyed this book. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah devoted his time to serving Africa. His "father-son" relationship with President Felix Houphouet-Boigny was admirable. They team up with beautiful major projects across Cote d'Ivoire. The pictures littered in the book are gorgeous, especially the wedding pictures and churches of Catholics and Muslims.

Why would a man with a bright future in medicine, who even pioneered DNA research, spend his life working to bring peace to all people and nations when he could have chosen to live a fantastic life for himself? How could he possibly complete his mission at a time when the Cold War and mistrust had irreversibly divided the world's nations? Would he ever be honored or recognized by the government for his accomplishments and for overcoming obstacles? Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's autobiography, A Dream For Peace, is a skillfully written account detailing his exceptional life, inspirational journey, and the struggles and hindrances that nearly put a stop to his quest.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's experiences and achievements in the diplomatic realm result from his commitment to what he believed in. I also agreed with him when he stated that the best way for humankind to promote peace and understanding among all nations of the world is by forgetting the past and continuing to be champions of dialogue. This was one of the many lessons I took away from the text, and it was the one I thought applied the most to social interactions. Through it, ties between families and across borders could be strengthened.

Personally, the author's portrayal of originality in his work was the aspect of the book that I appreciated the most. The book is written primarily in English. A few of the conversations, however, are in French. This, in my opinion, gave the book artistic refinement and resulted in a one-of-a-kind reading experience. I was also able to pick up a few fundamental French expressions that I will make sure to keep in mind so that I can apply them in future interactions. I also must emphasize how skillfully the author used figurative language, supported by numerous colored and black-and-white pictures. This served as a literary diversion from the usual narrative monotony and added life to the written discussions.

A Dream For Peace, written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, is a book existing only to put people on the road toward peace. It is a fine memoir. It covers themes like racism, injustice, a significant level of religious intolerance, corruption, nepotism, lack of self-sacrifice for the betterment of humanity, world peace, and colonization in Africa. Additionally, it is a march into the life of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, a great ambassador of peace.

This book inspires peace through accounts of intelligent reconciliation. It is a book written in the tone of an idealist. It is also gushing with facts. Furthermore, it thoroughly captures the events of the twentieth century in Northern Africa. It reports the mishaps of colonization in Africa. Not only that, but it also vividly shows how French colonizers were devoted to erasing Algerians’ history. It shrouds imperialism and colonialism in some African countries and the decolonization and liberation actions in Algeria. This excellent story will educate you about diverse African visionaries and their uncompromising fights for political consciousness and independence.

One of the chapters in this book gave information about our unique faiths, core beliefs, and the practices of Islam. Dr. Berrah, as a Muslim, married a Christian woman Titi, which rationalized his exemplary life of religious leniency and alliance. Dr. Berrah showcases his profound love for peace while brooding on religious racism. For instance, through dialogue, which he believes untangles conflicts, he brought about an alliance between Israel and Palestine.

Through this book, I learned a lot about the political dynamics in Africa. I also learned about Algeria’s history and how Saint Augustine symbolized the connection between Africanism and Universalism. Similarly, the author offers a peek at the third-world countries that extensively struggled after attaining independence. More importantly, he shares his skirmishes as a partaker in those battles in Africa and Asia. He gave visions into the warfare in the Middle East, Ghana's independence, Nigeria's civil war, South Africa's Apartheid, and the successes and sincerity of president Felix Houphouët Boigny.

This book merits the widest possible readership. One strength of this book is its pictorial and graphical supplementation that procures an overview of Dr. Berrah’s experiences. There is flow in chronology, making this book easy to follow. There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this fascinating book. Although the acronyms were sometimes overwhelming, the author did justice to that by providing footnotes where necessary.

Finally, I would rate A Dream For Peace a 5 out of 5 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Despite its lengthiness, I only discovered a few errors. But these errors did not hinder my overall reading experience. I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about the history of Africa, especially North Africa. Those interested in biographies will find this book thrilling.

When a country is subjected to a foreign administration run by individuals with self-interested motives, it can be frightening. It's as if you're a prisoner in your own country. This and other issues are discussed in Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's book A Dream For Peace.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah describes his story in this memoir book, offering a picture of the conditions in Algeria during French colonialism. The abuses he saw inflicted on his people inspired him to form a gang of revolutionaries who helped free his country from colonial rule. The book also focuses on how third-world countries dealt with the post-colonial era. The reader will learn about the struggles that a third-world country faced in gaining freedom. These fights were difficult, but they were worthwhile because Africans were able to reclaim their territories from their colonial masters as a result of them.

I admire the traits that the author exhibited throughout his life, from childhood to adulthood. These characteristics aided him in becoming a famous revolutionary ambassador, politician, and doctor. Furthermore, he proved to be an amazing visionary with a lot of hope for future generations. I particularly appreciate how the author introduces the reader to his family, noting his relationship with his step-brother and his mother's tie. This feature allows the reader to have a deeper understanding of the author. The book's authenticity is enhanced by the use of black and white photographs. You'll agree that technology in Africa was not very advanced prior to, during, and shortly after the colonial era. As a result, the use of black and white photographs reflects and corresponds to the times when the events in the book occurred.

The story is told in a conversational tone, and the writing style is vivid. I admire how relaxed the author was while recounting the events. While reading the book, I was able to relate with some of the author's emotions. He was composed and serene, and it was because of these attributes that the story did not sound forced. The book has been expertly edited. There were no grammatical faults that I discovered. The majority of authors would choose to use profane language to express enthusiasm or rage, but the author of this book preferred to keep it clean and display his work without any profanity. There is a great deal to be learned about Africans and their struggle for independence. I'm sure the book would be a great resource for history lessons.

Readers who appreciate memoirs and novels about historical events will enjoy this book, in my opinion. If you're searching for a memoir that isn't about politics or colonialism's history, this is not the book for you.

A Dream for Peace, written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, is based on his experiences and traces his life's journey as he fights for Algeria's freedom and independence. When he was born, Algeria was a French colony. So French culture, language, and religion were prevalent. His mother, who fostered him, placed a strong priority on his education. After completing primary school, he was given a scholarship that allowed him to attend any university, and he decided to study medicine at the University of Bordeaux.

The North African Muslim Students Association was founded by him and other Algerians who were also targets of prejudice. Due to his academic and political involvement in Algeria's liberation, his university life became stressful. As they organized groups for Algerian independence, his work grew. They decided to start a strike at the exact moment, which prompted the police to pursue him and accuse him of starting the strike. He left the house at night with Antoinette, who became his first wife. Because they crossed the border without proper documentation, they were imprisoned. He joined the freedom fighters when they were freed, and this is where his main journey started. He gained notoriety as a physician and undertook extensive travel until he was appointed President Houphouet-Boigny's special counselor.

There is a chapter that I liked so much, and this is because the chapter demonstrates that, despite the differences in our respective beliefs, we ought to treat one another with respect. He married a Catholic woman even though he is a Muslim; the author uses this as an example. I commend the author for discussing peace in Africa in his epilogue. I must admit that it fascinated me. Another thing I appreciated about the book was the illustrations embedded in the narrative. Even though the images aren't very clear, they support the veracity of his claims.

The book's incorporation of a few French terms I couldn't understand was the one aspect I didn't appreciate. Although this is a personal matter, I didn't particularly appreciate that the author afterward did not introduce us to his family, particularly his sister.

I’ll rate this book 5 out of 5 stars since I found no grammatical or typographical issues, which proves its flawless editing. My minor displeasure won't stop me from giving it the rating above. I am in awe of its audience's communication skills.

Finally, I recommend this book to those interested in African history. Students studying history will benefit as well. In addition to them, anyone else can read the book. It enlightens and inspires.
