Transformed by the Spirit : A Modern Journey into Spiritual Formation

Rate this book
Transformed by the Spirit is a culmination of seven and a half years of formal study in Spiritual Formation & Theology between my undergraduate and graduate work at Multnomah University and Seminary School. The main issue that this Christian self mastery book (Transformed by the Spirit) addresses is the need for us as Christians, to develop our relationship with Christ (son), Father, and Holy Spirit and walk in a life-giving path through the various spiritual disciplines and through the power of the Holy Spirit and also be a spiritual freedom Christian. We are in Union with Christ at conversion, yet we will not be fully perfected in Christ until He returns; therefore, we must always work towards Christlikeness in an effort to become fully mature Christians who comprise a fully mature church (Ephesians 4:1-16).WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT TRANSFORMED BY THE Craig Prather’s gentle and inviting book punctuated with basic spiritual formation principles appropriately interlaced with his own personal transformational journey serves to encourage Christ-followers to engage in the process of spiritual transformation. —Calvin Blom, D.Min., Spiritual Director.Craig Prather combines historic Christian tradition with his lived experience to produce this introspective and deep resource on spiritual formation. Transformed by the Spirit is a helpful guide for anyone who is eager to grow in Christlikeness. —Brandon Evans, Pastor, D.Min. (ABD).Transformed by the Spirit is a well thought out piece looking into the historical ideal of Spiritual Formation. Pr. Craig gives us some amazing ideas into how we can develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. This is a book that will be read several times to grasp all the ideas offered.—Rev. Michael Patterson, Episcopal Priest. In Transformed by the Spirit, Craig Prather takes our hands and our hearts and leads us on a spiritual journey filled with historical examples of fellow travelers, rules for the road, obstacles to avoid, and travel tips to stay connected to the One who knows exactly what speed we need to go in our journey of becoming like Jesus. Instead of arriving at our destination tired, weary and exhausted, we will lock arms with others and rejoice that we, by the Spirit, have finished the journey well. —Dr. Tom Schiave, Lead Pastor at Gateway Church and Professor in the Pastoral Ministries Dept. at Multnomah Biblical Seminary.Craig’s work is a gift to society during a time when fear, anger, and violence are leaving many with distance and absence as far too prominent metaphors for trying to stand on much greater spiritual horizons, such as faith, hope, and love. Reaching back to retrieve from trusted voices in the Scriptures and long traditions to contemporary guides, such as Dallas Willard, Craig’s book will open many thresholds for understanding how being formed in Christ through the Spirit transforms everything. —T.M. Allen (PhD), Pastor at New Life Church.ABOUT THE M. Prather serves as an Adjunct Professor of Spiritual Formation and Pastoral Ministries at Multnomah University. Currently a doctoral student of Spiritual Formation at Denver Seminary, Craig also has an M.Div. from Multnomah University with a concentration in Spiritual Formation. Prather is the author of, Moved by the A Daily Devotional & Living Doxology, and currently resides in Reno, Nevada with his wife and three children.
